The store staff are lovely and professional. The owner on the other hand is an uncivilized brute who is incredibly prejudiced. I shopped at this store for about a year and the few times I have encountered the owner he makes it very clear that I am not welcomed there by the way he glares at me when I reach into my purse to get my wallet or phone to pay for my groceries. It is clear that he does not want any people of color in his store both based on my experience and the other reviews I've seen here. Last week was the last straw and I will not be giving this store any more of my business - I recommend that you don't either.
I’m really impressed. I’ve had sushi in a lot of different places during my travels, but this spot definitely stands out. I’d heard people rave about it before, and now I get it. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, with great texture and flavor. Definitely worth the try. Friendly environment as well is a plus ??
I came here about 4 times to buy some ice cream i spent a lot of money on ice cream here and then then worker said the boss said i can’t bring me scooter in for some reason even though it is not disturbing anybody i come in quick to get what i want and leave they told me to leave and i had to travel to my new spot to get the ice cream they lost a buyer and got a bad review from me now
Produce is fresh, organization is sleek, and it feels very curated and high-end. I prefer this supermarket over the Whole Foods on the upper east side.
I love this store. Warning: I used to be a westerner so I maybe a more sentimental New Yorker than most. I live in the neighborhood and have watched this store grow from when it was a small corner store. It is clear that the owner puts a lot of love into the store. It has some of the best prices for the neighborhood (96th-82nd), this includes basic groceries and health food. The selection of products is impressive and caters to different cuisines and diets (vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free). They also have a section dedicated to freshly made products. Their lemon dill hummus is fantastic. I love that I get to discover new products. My latest discovery is the Maya Kaimal Soup Tomato & Warm Spices, a tomato soup and dessert in one.
The people who work at this store are kind and uplifting, from the stockers to the clerks. I believe the positive environment says a lot about the manager and owner of this place. I shop here for the good food, good prices, and good vibes.
So very frustrating! Nobody speaks English very well and they just stare at you and say nothing. If you do ask for help they just make up the information and lie to you so you're kind of on your own to find what you might be looking for. But! They do wear masks on their chin in 2025, so we know how intelligent they must be;-),
They have a very vast variety of quality...
They even have a selection of cooked meal options, when I'm lazy I just buy a rotisserie ? & remix it.

This is a cute store. A bit expensive, has a little bit of everything. For some reason, one of the employee thought I was being sus and legit followed right behind me (as if I were going to steal). It reminded me of the movie, Menace II Society.
This grocery store is a hidden gem! The cleanliness is top-notch, and the prices are very competitive. It is never too crowded, and I have rarely waited more than a few minutes in line. Their selection of fresh products is fantastic, but what really sets them apart is the variety of Turkish items they offer. (Check out the photos!) They even carry Tahsildaroglu goat milk cheese, which is the best feta you can find outside of Turkey. If only they also stocked Ohanyan soujouk and bastirma! ? Highly recommend for anyone looking for quality and affordability.
This place is a gem. They have a great selection of curated items and also your basic goods. I love that it is a decent size store, rarely very crowded, and the prices are comparable or better than the rest of the neighborhood. I live a few blocks away and since it has opened, I don’t really go anywhere else. In fact, I’d hate to go anywhere else, which is why I write this review.
this place used to be great but they’ve hired some less mentally competent stock people or something and lately I can’t shop without getting bumped out of the way by stock people. Maybe hire some more upscale employees who understand customer service
Mostly rip off, as expected from a store called “Carnegie market”. Some nice stuff tho. But the real issue is the owner. He walks around like a bouncer with an ugly look on his face. Like, you not doing me a favor by letting me get ripped off in your store.
I usually get smoked salmon from here and its ALWAYS SPOILED. Its super frustrating as its $12 and I'm pretty sure I can't get a refund on items like that. I've been sick 3 times because of that. The workers are lovely but it depends on who you get. I feel my 3 stars are justified.
Today may 28th 2023, my second experience at the CARNEGIE MARKET at 1245 park ave, new york, ny 10128.
Immediately upon entering the market, there were a tall gentle man that works or own the market starts following me, by the way am black african american. He follows me to every isle while am at the market.
The first time which was last week may 24th 2023, I took it as he just happened to be browsing the same isles.
But i went in there again todaay to prove a point, and I was correct.
RACISM is very previlent at that market, ther were other poeple in there that were not african american, and he paid them no mind.
But kept stalking me, I confronted him about the matter and he had the nerves to tell me he was not following me.
I WILL LOVE IF THE NECESSARY AUTHORITIES CAN PLEASE LOOK INTO THAT PLACE.
What a great find! I discovered this wonderful market walking home one day. I stopped in out of curiosity and was floored! It’s exactly what I would want in a health-oriented market. Spacious space, helpful, knowledgeable staff, a huge selection of healthy, organic, and vegan foods and a down to earth, hip vibe with cool music playing. Foods are carefully curated and with a great coffee selection. Well stocked store and clean. Good prices. It’s a pleasure to shop here! Now I don’t want to shop anywhere else. Very well organized too. The selections are placed organically where you would expect to find them. Well done!
I went into the store to purchase something to eat for lunch. It was 7:30 am and I was the only one in the store. It was my first time in the store and was looking to see what was offered. I noticed that I was being followed around the store by 2 employees. I am wearing scrubs and a jacket with the hospital logo where I work. I am not a thief just because of the color of my skin. I went to ask for the manager and was told that they are not sure if there os one today. DO NOT SHOP HERE!! By the way I am a doctor!!
The owner watches you like a hawk. It is very uncomfortable and downright rude. I returned with cherries I bought the previous day. They tasted awful. The owner said he remembered me and gave me aggravation before refunding only part of my money. He was very rude to me but much nicer to my fiancé. I’m never going back as he is a poor excuse for a businessman.
A welcome addition to the neighborhood! The store is sparkling clean, well stocked and the large selection of produce always fresh. The prepared salads are delicious. Plus the staff are friendly amd helpful.
They used to own a tiny shop on the same block on Lex. One day I noticed they closed their store and I was devastated because that was my "go to place" to pick up my food items before heading home. Much to my surprise, I discovered they had only moved to a better and bigger location! I'm so grateful for this store, thank goodness they didn't leave, they just upgraded!
Great place! Great selection. So clean. Well laid out. Would be great if they could change all their single use plastics to a more biodegradable option. So much plastics waste. Other than that, fantastic! Brilliant Irish tea range and frozen section too.
Wonderful staff - so warm and friendly. Always clean. Healthy groceries with a wide variety of choices. My favorite market! Mostly because of the relaxed, caring environment.
