What clients say about Gabriel's Bar & Restaurant in New York (NY)

My family always stops by Gabriel’s when we are in town. A true favorite staple to our trips - from the wonderful food to the incredible hospitality - a gem in nyc. Our waiter this last time, Steven, was outstanding. We had a phenomenal time and look forward to returning many more times! Dish wise - I am always biased for the butternut squash brown butter sage pasta.

My wife and I spent Valentine’s Day at Gabriel’s, and it was hands down one of the most special nights we’ve ever had. Gabriel Jr. and Theo did an unbelievable job making the entire evening feel personal and unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, they treated us like family. The service was flawless, the wine recommendations were spot-on, and the pacing of the meal was perfect — romantic, relaxed, and thoughtful. The highlight of the night was this beautiful special dessert they made for Valentine’s Day (pictured). It wasn’t just stunning — it was absolutely delicious. You could tell real care and creativity went into it. It felt like something crafted just for the occasion, and honestly, just for us. Gabriel Jr.’s passion and Theo’s attention to detail truly elevated the entire experience. They didn’t just serve dinner — they created a memory for me and my wife that we’ll always remember. If you want a place that genuinely makes Valentine’s Day feel magical, this is it. ❤️

Everything we tried was outstanding and full of flavor. The burger really stole the show and quickly became a favorite. The team was welcoming and made us feel right at home. We are already planning our next visit.

Absolutely incredible restaurant. The food is outstanding, every dish is full of flavor and beautifully presented. The atmosphere is perfect — romantic, cozy, and elegant at the same time. Amazing wine selection and impeccable service. Truly a place you want to come back to again and again.

★★★★★ Gabriel’s Bar & Restaurant is a true New York classic that still feels alive and exciting. The food is beautifully done, the room is timeless, and the service is warm and confident. Gabriel Jr. is an outstanding bartender — his craft cocktails are creative, balanced, and genuinely fun. He and Theo work as an incredible duo, completely in sync, keeping the room moving effortlessly. Their knowledge of high-end and rare wines is equally impressive; they make even the most serious bottles feel approachable and perfectly chosen. The energy, hospitality, and attention to detail are exactly why this place has lasted so long. I love it so much that I can’t wait to have my wedding here.

Been coming to the city for years and can’t believe we haven’t found this place until now. This family owned restaurant is the way to go if you’re looking for Italian classic food and ambiance. The meatball starter was amazing - simple and authentic. The cacio pepe was perfect - great flavor and the pasta was clearly homemade. We ended on the branzino - excellently prepared. Our server, Theo, was attentive and made the evening fun.

Steven, our server was amazing! A very professional and experienced server with kindness and five star service! The food was incredible and they even serve gluten-free donuts for dessert! My daughter was happy for her 18th birthday dinner!

We were in New York for about a week, we ate out two to three times a day and Gabriel's stands out is probably the favorite out of everywhere we went. The food was amazing, the drinks were top-notch, not to mention the bartenders expertise, and the staff including Gabriel himself were incredibly friendly and welcoming and happy to chit chat and share cool stories about new york. Loved it!

If NYC had a love letter to Italian dining, this place would be it. From the moment you step inside, there’s a warm, timeless charm that instantly makes you feel at home like a beloved local spot transported straight from a Roman to the heart of Manhattan. The menu is nothing short of masterful. Every dish tastes like it was crafted by someone who truly knows and loves Italian food from rich, velvety pastas to tender, perfectly seasoned entrées. The Ravioli Zucca practically melts on your tongue, and the Brasato di Costolette di Manzo (braised short ribs) is pure comfort elevated to art. But what really sets Gabriels apart isn’t just the food its the experience. The ambiance strikes a beautiful balance between cozy and elegant, ideal for a romantic dinner, a pre-theater meal before Lincoln Center, or a weekend brunch with friends. The staff are consummate professionals warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making your meal memorable. I’ve never felt rushed or overlooked; instead, every detail feels thoughtfully executed.

We joined Gabriel’s Restaurant for their Thanksgiving Parade viewing event and had wonderful time. We walked down to 6th Avenue and had a great view of the Balloons and Parade in general. Great brunch and beautiful restaurant. Going back next year! Thank you.

A place where class meets home. From the moment we walked in, the staff was welcoming with a smile. Gabrielle himself stopped over for entertaining conversation. His sons are equally engaging and fun. Food was visually appealing with a taste that matched the visual. A special place.

Had a wonderful dinner before going to the theatre. Ordered the Caprese appetizer, espresso martini, linguine with clams and tagliatelle with tomato sauce. It was absolutely delicious. I will definitely come back. We also had the tiramisu for dessert which was good, not much espresso in it though. Expensive New York prices but highly recommend.

Came here after getting engaged, and honestly was best dining experience I have had. Met Gabriel himself, and the service was absolutely impeccable. Theo was outstanding and his menu recommendations, the best food I had in 2 weeks while in nyc. Fresh pasta and taste is to die for. Best wait staff I have ever had. They added some fantastic champagne and dessert and took some lovely photos of us, capped off a perfect day into a perfect night. Forever grateful to Gabriel’s. We can’t wait to come back soon !! Big love from Gold Coast Australia. #300Lean

The food was exceptional! Will most certainly be back here. The burger is amazing and we loved the whole staff too!

Best place for brunch! We ordered Steak and egg. The food is very tasty. The service and environment is the best part. Our server Steven is the best! The service is even better than the average Michelin restaurants. $30 for an amazing brunch with fine dining service and environment, why not? Great experience! I don’t understand why people are waiting in a longline next door for a burger. 😹

Celebrated my daughters 17th Birthday at Gabriel’s last weekend. A+ from start to finish!! Everything was amazing. I can’t wait to come back over the Holidays!!

Absolutely love Gabriel’s! The vibe is super homey but still feels a little upscale, and the staff (especially gabriel) is always so friendly and on top of things. The food is so good — everything tastes fresh and well thought out, and the portions are just right. I’ve tried a few things on the menu and haven’t been disappointed once. Drinks are amazing too — you can tell the bartenders actually care about what they’re making. Perfect spot for a night out with friends or even a nice dinner date. Definitely one of my favorite places in the area!

Cute little Italian spot south of Central Park. The drinks were great! Loved the fresh espresso martini.

Wow! By far the best meal I have had in NYC. This is not our first time in the city. We have stopped at the “designated” local diners and viral tiktok stops. We walked in to this place while looking for a decent brunch. Most of the other establishments had hour long waits. We walked in here and were taken straight to a table. Ambience: I don’t know where to start. It is warmly lit, with soft music. It’s nice for a quiet sit down date. The decor is perfect. Not overwhelming, but tasteful. Service: amazing. Our water was kept topped off. There was always someone near by if we needed, but they did not interrupt our meal. Everyone was very attentive and polite. Food: best food by far. We came for brunch. We shared the steak and eggs, and the cinnamon pancakes. The pancakes were light and airy and just perfect. The steak was cooked to perfection. Even better than the steakhouses we’ve gone to. Everything was very reasonably priced as well. We will definitely be coming back!!

Location, location, location: right on the south side of Central Park you can’t beat the view when you get a table outside. Rack of lamb and red snapper were okay but uninspired. The Bomboloni miniature Ferris wheel was childish fun but made fresh. Apart from the friendly reception desk the staff was partially attentive and seemed unenthusiastic. Not too much bang for the buck.

Wow ! BEST MEAL I HAD IN NYC!!! Such an incredible menu, all northern Italian (my grandparents said it tasted like being home in Italy). Service was 100/10 - it's a family business with so many waiters having worked there for over 10 years and I loved meeting the owner and his family. Definitely recommend to support a family owned gem in the heart of NYC!

Gabriel’s is not only a spacious and inviting spot for classic Italian food but also functions as a mini art gallery, showcasing pieces from Roy Lichtenstein to the owner’s own son, Gabe. This warm, family-run restaurant offers beloved traditional dishes in a cozy setting in a lovely location right off Central Park. Perfect for a romantic date, a solo dinner at the bar, or a dinner with friends! Don’t be shocked to find the owner Gabriel on the floor interacting with all his customers! Very authentic environment that blends delicious food (like linguini alla vongole, the in house made smoked buratta, chicken milanese and the dover sole francaise) with curated artwork. I will definitely be returning!

Fantastic dining experience. Amazing location right across from Central Park. Five star service. Food was incredible. Multi-generational ownership. Everything we got was amazing - from cocktails to dessert. This will now be a regular stop on our trips to city.

Fantastic family own and ran restaurant. Forgotten art to see the proprietor and his son's great and meet you during dinner service. Food is fantastic! They say the risotto is best in town... they are the truth.

We found this gem of a bar/restaurant and visited five or six times. The atmosphere is amazing and the staff very professional and friendly. Eddie provided excellent service and Gabriel the owner is so welcoming and friendly and has time for everyone. The food was out of this world - particular mentions are Ravioli Zucca and the Brasato di Costolette di Manzo (short ribs to die for). The bomboloni (Italian doughnuts with chocolate and caramel sauces) is one of the best desserts I’ve had! We would definitely recommend this place. It’s in an excellent location opposite Central Park.

We had the best time! We went for there for dinner before a show at the Lincoln Center since is close by. The dishes are delicious, good size, great flavor! The restaurant ambiance and art is just a nice complement. Service was great! They have also a nice room for special events too.

Went in for a weekend brunch with a couple of friends. Absolutely loved the vibe and classy setting. Service was great and welcoming, food was delicious. Banana pudding from the dessert menu was absolutely mind-blowing and very fulfilling, we easily shared it between 4ppl and everyone felt satisfied. Eggs Benedict were also delicious, fresh and good portion. The place got packed by 3pm. We had a nice stroll afterwards through east side all the way up to the Guggenheim’s Museum. Will be back on my next trip to NYC!
