- Recent reviews were correct, bar was extremely dead and they still were charging a cover fee despite no more than 5 people inside - Floors were sticky and gross - Drinks were watered down and expensive Ended up walking out and going to another bar which was packed to the brim.

Sweet vibe, great and chill with kind folks.

Always dead, been twice on Saturdays and never more than about 25 people inside. Service is fine, but atmosphere is never fun.

Had fun danced all night :)

People are so friendly and accepting, I loved coming here for the first time today, this was the best first experience with a bar/party ever!!!

The music is nice, no complaints there — but everything else feels like a bit of a joke (too bad it’s not a funny one). The place is tiny, the prices are ridiculous, and — surprise! — no price list anywhere, not on their website, not on Google. Maybe because they make them “customized per person”, who knows! My boyfriend and I picked Rockbar based on the reviews and the listed price range ($10–20). In the end, between the cover charge, two rounds of beer, and two cocktails, we ended up with a $90 bill. When we mentioned it to a few regulars, they looked more shocked than we were — which says a lot. So yeah: music’s fine, but tourists beware! You might leave feeling a little lighter… in your wallet. We’ve learned our lesson! ??

Joey and Rowan are the best! A true gay bear bar that is friendly to absolutely everyone in our LGBTQIA+ community. No matter when I come, I always feel welcome, safe, and taken care of ?

This place has a great vibe and would recommend to anyone that’s in the “bear” category. Drinks are reasonably priced and the staff is very efficient.

I usually go to Rockbar on jockstrap night, and it’s always a blast! The atmosphere is super welcoming and inclusive of all body types, which creates a really positive vibe. The drinks are priced as you’d expect for a bar in the city, and the overall energy is just so much fun. Plus, the men—absolutely hot! If you’re looking for a great time with a friendly crowd, this is the place to be. Highly recommend!

It’s a pretty cool and chill gay bar by the river. I only go for special parties like the Fade To Black monthly party. Great drinks. Friendly staff.

This bar has a totally different vibe to many places I've been to. No clicks, just good people who are welcoming and down to earth. It's small, dark but cozy in a way that's hard to describe.

Way too crowded. $14 for a single gon and tonic. Only one bartender, and it took just short of sending off a flare to get any attention. Bouncer asked for ID every time you go out for a smoke and come back.

The drinks are just OK. The younger bar tender is kinda rude but the bearded bar tender was pleasant and made a terrific drink. Not much on atmosphere but would go back from time to time.

The gay bar in NYC. While small, it has strong drinks and cheeky — cheerful staff. It is always bustling with daily events!

This place was really banging when I went for the Gotham Knights Rugby club bachelor auction here a few weekends ago. Super friendly staff, it was jammed with friendly people, you could get drinks easily nevertheless. Rockbar is back.

Had the best night ever at Rockbar, I really felt welcome here, the drinks were great, the drag queens were very funny, the tunes were amazing and the cute bartender made my night. Also hot coat check guy. Would highly recommend !!!1!

One of the best bars you’ll ever go to. If you want a bar with a diverse crowd that gives little to no judgement about your aesthetic, then this is the place to be. If you’ve got a kink, there’s probably someone else here that has it too. If you have a hobby, you’ll most likely find a friend. Great drag shows, trivia contests, and “other” contests. I will always come to this bar. They also have some of the cheapest drink prices in NYC and they don’t skimp!!

I had a great time there over the weekend showing a friend of mine around the area. They had a wonderful auction and raffle and although I did not win, it was a very joyous and festive atmosphere

I was very disappointed today, coming here 5 yrs ago I had greater expectations. I actually called the place to confirm if there was a cover charge before 10pm, and the staff member clearly stated no cover charge before 10pm. I came here rushing before 10pm and arrived around 945p and was told theirs no cover charge before 9pm. I don’t know if their had been a miscommunication or lack of correct information, but it was very discouraging to say the least….

So glad to see this place open! It has a classic vibe and sitting at the bar is a great opportunity for people watching as you see them descend into the subway stop outside. Good service and food (I don’t eat meat, but had a feast of side dishes that were excellent). Excited to go back and have another cocktail.

Awful place, they don't have nice drinks , they lie to you on the specials!!!! There was a benefit auction raffle that was supposed to be at 10 pm at it started one hour earlier without notice!!! Surprisingly the people who knew the personnel won the prizes on the raffle contest! NOT GO THERE!!! Photo below of the friends winner.. That laughing on us!

Been here 3 times. Friendly staff, good Drag shows, and drinks are great value. Bartenders should pour drinks in a glass though, especially when you order premium liquor, and not well, instead of serving it in a plastic cup. Or at least ask. Would go back though, was fun.
