What clients say about Crossroads Trading in New York (NY)

A frustrating experience. I gave the staff two bags of clothes, but they only took 3 items and left the other bag on the floor without returning it to me or telling me. I had no idea which items were taken and which were not. I only realized something was wrong later and had to go back again to tell them they had forgotten to return my bag. Only then did I get it back. Very disappointing.

I visited the store around 1pm on Sat and experienced an unusually long wait at the register/buying station, with several people still in line to sell items. The two staff members appeared distracted and were engaged in personal conversations unrelated to work, which significantly slowed the process. On multiple occasions sellers were called up only for staff to say, “Oh, I’m sorry I forgot to price this.” This was surprising as I’ve typically had excellent experiences here and have considered it one of my favorite stores in the East Village. Unfortunately today’s experience was frustrating and has made me reconsider returning in the future. At Buffalo Exchange, customers are acknowledged and engaged more directly.

Do not sell here! They STOLE 3 of my garments. I went to this lower east side location to sell clothes. I've done it before at the 26th Street location. They went through all of my clothes, encouraging me to step away and walk through the store while doing so. They decided that none of my clothes were acceptable to buy. They did STEAL 3 of my garments. 3 denim dresses. I discovered it when I arrived at East Village thrift down the street to give them the clothes instead. Do not leave your things unattended.

Most crossroads I come across have friendly welcoming staff. This one, not so much. Don’t waste your time because inventory isn’t great either.
Sep 21, 2025 -
Very snarky culture here. They pick and choose what items they merchandise and which ones to put back. I have first hand knowledge and experience witnessing gossiping and snarky remarks about customers behind their backs and have made a complaint to HR regarding the toxic workplace culture surrounding this location. The merchandisers are snotty and very unprofessional. They routinely make comments, unseemly facial expressions and gossip about customers as if it’s routine workplace behavior. This location is horrible and the employees need to be fired and if not fired, re-trained. The East village location is way more professional and you have better chances of selling as the merchandisers at that location are way more experienced and hip to the latest trends as well as they have a personal eye for fashion.

This store always has really good quality clothes I enjoy shopping here I enjoyed so much I come way too often

Went here on July 26 to sell some old clothes I don’t want anymore (1 large bag, nothing extremely worn with holes either). Waited 50 minutes for the guy to look at my clothes for 1-2 minutes and decline. For reference, I was #11 in line and arrived within the 15 minute grace period. There has to be a better system for buying clothes if I have to wait 45-50 minutes to be declined….

I tried to sell my items here, and when I declined the employee’s offer for one of the items - she made a face, angrily dropped the item on the table without putting it back in its plastic bag, rolled her eyes, and walked away. I’m not exaggerating! I was polite and patient the entire time, so I have no idea why she reacted that way. At the end of the day, it’s my choice whether or not to accept an offer. If she got upset because I declined, then she might be in the wrong line of work. To the management of this shop: the employee in question is a white female with neck-length brown hair (with some colored highlight I think?), pale skin, a slim build, and a skater punk-ish style (she was wearing studded bracelets). Date of transaction is July 15, 2025 at around 4pm.

It's a great thrift store, but one of the sales associates (purple hair with bleached eyebrows) totally ruined our experience. She was busy chit chatting with her coworkers while we were browsing some jewelry that was in a box. We were right by the register where she was standing and she could visibly see us. After about ten minutes, she comes over to scold us, saying, "this is supposed to be organized, I can't have you DIGGING in here" and yanks the box away. So disgustingly rude—if we weren't supposed to be browsing through the jewelry, she should have said something earlier.

Absolute the best thrift shop in the area. There are 5 others within walking distance and this is the best - quality, cost, and comfort of shopping. Selling here is also great, they give back a fair buying price. Found a lot of new items from places like Theory which is known for quality. Unlike some of the stores around there were very few items in less than 80% good condition, a lot of items were still with tags which can be appealing for people who want to thrift but unsure of previous ownership. And also a good place for people that get overwhelmed when thrifting because this place is well organized and not over crowded with merchandise. Staff were all great to interact with from cashier, change room, to people helping on the floor.

U went to Crossroads for the first time to sell. I sold 3 of the 8 items I had on hand. The customer service was impeccable and the store’s organized. I do wish that the shoes on display were less dusty. Other than that, a good experience overall!

This is one of my favorite crossroads (there are multiple in the city). Very clean and a large variety of clothes and shoes! Very close to restaurants too, good area.
Apr 14, 2025 -
The clothing is really nice, so are most of the staff, but the girl with the bleached eyebrows was really sweet and chatty with my friend when we were checking out, but then completely dry and even rude towards me. I don’t wanna accuse anyone unfairly, but we both approached her with the exact same attitude. The only difference between my friend and I is the colors of our skin.
Apr 05, 2025 -
They are not accepting card payments and will not be for some time, the manager was incredibly rude to me and the other woman in line attempting to buy clothes despite this being wholly a problem on the company's end, not the customer's fault... The company should offer some type of compensation for not accepting card payments for such a long time, even something small and symbolic like 10% off.

Of the many secondhand stores where I could unload my excess clothing, one I choose to return to consistently is the Crossroads Trading on Second Ave. in NYC. The store is well-managed, led by Katie, the general manager, who is always cordial and addresses me by my first name; she’s fabulous. The assistant manager there, Lucy, is outstanding too. I met her when she was a buyer in training only a few years ago and is probably one of my favorite buyers. Besides, the buyers there seem to be open-minded and do an excellent job of representing fashion consumers across the spectrum. Today, I was happy to have Justin, floor supervisor, complete my buy; he’s always super polite and friendly. I totally agree with all the other reviewers who have had positive experiences at this store.

sometimes you want clothes that aren't new bc they have that worn in feel, look naturally distressed, bla blah blah, etc. came to Crossroads Trading looking for used or vintage-ish band T-shirts...out of luck there, but the store had a nice selection of hoodies and sweatshirts at fair prices. who doesn't need more hoodies?!? not me. over the last few months, was able to snag a few hooded items that have a nice worn look, unique in the sense that they aren't currently in every online or brick-n-mortar shop, and have that worn-in feel where it's not too soft but not threadbare either. the store is neatly organized, brightly lit, and clean. women's and men's sections filled with a variety of some legit vintage items to stuff that is much newer or clothing that is just a few years or months old. everything from t-shirts, shirts, jeans, pants, sneakers, shoes, and more is squeezed into racks and shelves organized well throughout the medium-sized space. sometimes, there's a line in the front but that basically people who are selling items to the store...but checkout is typically very quick. staff isn't chatty, but friendly enough. there aren't insane deals, but vintage-ish items are NOT priced insanely either. Crossroad Trading is nice addition to the East Village for people enjoy the benefits of participating in the Vintage Clothing Industrial Complex! ha

Had a very positive. Staff buyers Lillian and Danica were nice and thorough going through the clothes I brought to sell. Justin at register handled my transaction smoothly even though I made it complicated (sorry again Justin!). Found a couple gems and sold some old pieces. Will return

I genuinely cannot recommend this location enough if you like vintage, I know other locations like 26th street are full of Zara and stuff but this location is def the best for an actual vintage thrifting experience. That being said..... it's extremely understaffed compared to basically every other location. The line to sell is hours because they've got like one person at the counter, the lines at checkout and the dressing rooms are crazyyy long especially on weekends. Sometimes the floor is lowkey a mess too, and it can be really hard to find someone who can take an item off the wall when it's busy. I would def recommend going on weekdays for a less chaotic experience, and the staff is all really chill and not intimidating at all like Buffalo if you like to sell

What a great experience! I don’t mind the 1/2hr wait all worth it! My buyer was nice and they brought a lot of my stuff! Will be going back. Loved the experience, as a seller and buyer :).. love thriftin’
Oct 22, 2024 -
Had a very good experience. Wait was a little long, but I get it. 2 buyers researched my products. Even consulted me about doing consignment for higher possible money. Bought all my products I came to sell. What a relief after having an abysmal experience at Buffalo Exchange on East 11th street just an hour prior. I will definitely be utilizing Crossroads in the future.

I’ve gatekeeped this location long enough. Best place to thrift in NYC and they never miss - no matter the season. The staff are knowledgeable, overall incredible - and my personal favorite, Justin never fails to support (or kindly thwart) the looks I gravitate to and he gets me looking right every. time. a true east village gem.

The clothes are good, but the cashier with blue hair and the managers attitude need to change immediately! I was just looking around and they treated me as I was beneath them, and I quote saying “These are not for you to touch” and then gossiping amongst themselves in front of me and the other customers! To quote Leah from love island “They made me feel like an ogre”

Don't you love bringing home what you thought was a great find, then discovering a hole? The sweater I bought wasn't marked "as is", and the price definitely didn't reflect any kind of damage. Since I tossed the tag and receipt, I'm stuck with it. Be very careful shopping here.
Aug 02, 2024 -
Store was efficient and the staff was friendly enough. The guy who cashed me out was super nice and was a great help. Will definitely come back to this location to sell more items.
Jul 24, 2024 -
Horribly run business and bad management. Understand it takes time to go through people’s clothes when selling and I am fully prepared to wait but don’t be selfish and throw out estimates of time without thinking it through. They have no regards for their customers. Told me one hour and then I came back 1.5 hours after waiting nearby and I was still 13 people behind. She had the audacity to tell me “maybe one hour again” after it took her 1.5 hours to sort through 3 people. Clueless and rude- please have more respect for people’s time and schedules.
Jun 19, 2024 -
One of the worst experience. I used to sell a lot of my stuff elsewhere and would atleast get 5 out of 10 items sold. But this place gave me a rude - KAREN vibe probably because I’m an Asian. What a waste of my precious 30 mins just to get one item sold for $5 cash out of 14 items. 👎🏼

They were fantastic. I called ahead and they were helpful with what to bring and I was able to sell a lot of clothing and shoes. You check in on an iPad and they text you when they are ready and call your name. I will continue to go back there and the staff was wonderful and so kind. 10/10
