What clients say about Target in New York (NY)
-
Mostly Tourists, dont shop here since they dont price match no more, not even to their own website.
Mar 01, 2026 -
absolutely love shopping at Target! The store is always clean, bright, and very well-organized. They have a fantastic selection of stylish clothes, home decor, and high-quality products at great prices. The staff is friendly, and the 'Bullseye’s Playground' section is my favorite. Highly recommended for a stress-free shopping experience

Great Target store at 237 W 42nd St in NYC! Proximity to Times Square makes it a prime location for quick or long shopping. The store entrance leads to an escalator, which takes you down to the store. There are elevators for people requiring accessibility. Like any Target store, you can easily access the well-organized products. I was looking for some coffee and I found what I needed in a few minutes. The self-checkout kiosks were fast and convenient. I liked the Bullseye neon outside the store. Smooth shopping experience overall.
Feb 07, 2026 -
This target has the normal stuff like snacks and beer or a jacket. The checkout was a breeze and beer can be handled at the self-checkout with an attendant assisting.
Feb 07, 2026 -
•Glad to have found this Target in Manhattan. •Better prices and lots of deals/sale on food items. •Ongoing repairs so the escalator area is quite disorganized. Other than that, store is easy to navigate.

The behavior of the employees and managers was completely unacceptable. They were rude, arrogant, and dismissive. This level of disrespect toward customers is not acceptable under any circumstances and needs immediate attention.
Jan 22, 2026 -
I come here regularly to shop and have had several poor customer service experiences. Today I was checking out some frozen food and placed it on the counter. Out of nowhere, the cashier (a young Hispanic woman in her 20s with glasses) said I was being rude with the way I placed the items and told me to go check out somewhere else. I didn’t slam the items down or anything, but she gave me a horrible attitude and argued with me. However, when I was targeted by a group of high schoolers who were trying to steal something from me in the store a few months ago, there were no employees who helped me. Please fix these issues with your employees!!

It's nice to have a Target midtown and central to where I usually stay. I can pop in here and pick up staples or supplies for my visit. This has everything you would expect from a Target store.
Dec 27, 2025 -
Definitely not the type of shopping center called Target that I'm used to. If you took 10% of items a normal Target displays and created a new store, this is it. I don't even think there were carts and you have to check yourself out of course. It's downstairs and you ride the escalator down to get to store.

It’s convenient to have a target in Times Square but most of the time it’s a bad experience. Many of the workers are rude and are not helpful. The workers at check out mostly spend their time chatting and will have you standing for a couple of minutes waiting and they don’t tell you if their register is open or not. Also I get it if you are tired but it doesn’t cost energy to be nice. Most of the workers have no manners and lack common courtesy. When you need help at self checkout they just give you attitude. Also this has not been my first time here and it’s always a weird vibe. Not to mention the elevators and escalators always have something going on.

TARGET Expect more pay less. There are plenty of small Target stores dotted around Manhattan and I took advantage of them getting things to eat and drink as well as things to wear. Exceptional value for money in a prime tourist location Times Square where generally prices are higher than average for goods and services.

Tonight’s on September 27,2025 visiting the Times Square store to pick up an order online order wasn't a very pleasant experience. After putting in my order at 10:38pm for two items i basically ran to the store to pick my order. I work in the area. I did arrive at 10:55pm. Aware that the store was closing in 5 mins I was greeted by a target employee at the door reminding me about the closing time. Which I found very weird. I began to feel anxious and overwhelmed. I went to the order pick station and got terrible news, that i wouldn't be able to get my order because they don’t take online orders after 10pm which I wasn’t aware of. And i had to pick up my order in the morning which wasn’t able to do because it was out of my way. The employee told me i could cancel the order since it wasn’t picked and grab my items which I did. Once the struck 11pm your employees got very rude and started yelling and throwing everyone out and I get it you want to go home and close the store etc but as a guest I felt very disrespected. They didn’t even want me to look through the aisles or help find my one item. Even one the manager on duty was annoyed and gave me attitude. I’m very upset with the customer service I received and I will not be shopping at this store location anymore. I wish I can put negative stars.
Sep 28, 2025 -
Had no idea there was a Target in Times Square, a lower level Target that is. But if you're a Target fan, why not. Although smaller scale, this store still provides the basic needs and quality from the employees you would expect. And the bottled water is less expensive than on Times Square.
Jul 22, 2025 -
This Target was a lifesaver during our visit to NYC. This is not a very large location so it did not have all the things I needed but I made do with the items they had. It's great that it is here especially for tourists who forgot things while travelling. Located just near times square, its perfect, clean and friendly service.
Jun 21, 2025 -
When I first came into this target it got me confused because it's like going in the back of the store because it's coming from the back you have to go into the store then go down to escalators and then everything that you need like the cash register and the toys is all the way in the back but either way this one girl that ringed me up when I bought stuff she was very friendly and nice.
May 04, 2025 -
Well stocked and clean supermarket with a huge variety of products. Not as busy as one might think right next to the Times Square
Apr 13, 2025 -
In through the doors, down the escalator and into the basement. Seemed like a big store. I only had eyes for beers and snacks. They sell Brooklyn Brewery's East IPA - went straight for that. Grabbed some Doritos and headed to the checkout. Take your ID - they'll as k for it if you are buying beer even if you are - like me - (cough) well over 25! Oh and a six pack of Hanes' boxers. $18? If forgot to pack any underwear for my 4 day trip! That was dumb.
Apr 10, 2025 -
It's nice to have a Target in Manhattan. It is smaller but the gave a food department and most things you would expect from a Target. The pricing is online with what you would pay in other targets, so it is cheaper for the area.
Mar 24, 2025 -
Go downstairs and you're in a mini-Target, reasonable selection given they aren't a full-sized Target, and matches similar to the one down near Union Square back in the day. Definitely a better place to grab a pack of soda cheaper than anywhere else in Times Square.
Mar 17, 2025 -
Checkout lines seem to move quickly, seems like they hired someone who may have experience at Trader Joe's. Lots and lots of people, not sure place for locals unless you really need to pick some up last minute. Only option is self checkout, there are staff around to assist.
Jan 18, 2025 -
This location is packed (of course being in Times Square). It’s not a full store concept (more like an elevated CVS), but most small things can be purchased here (home, clothing, and food). It’s not a Party City, so you’ll probably still need to go elsewhere for your items. They have many self checkout registers and normal registers with cashiers. It’s hectic because it’s always so busy.
Oct 13, 2024 -
I hate this location. I hate any store where you have to take an escalator down to get into it. And this place is TWO flights down! Surprisingly small once you reach it, too. Long bathroom lines. Smallest selection of fruits and vegetable I’ve ever seen. And big imposing looking plain clothes security guys trying to hold the place together. And way too crowded.
May 07, 2024 -
Very convenient Target in Times Square! They do not carry wine though, only beer. 2 escalators to get to shopping area. Excellent reusable shopping bags that are bigger than regular grocery bags.
Apr 14, 2024 -
This was interesting, a Target store below ground. Needed a charging cord to keep our gear running. Two flights of steps opens up into a good sized Target store. Theft must be prevalent as even the cord was in a locked case and there was a good deal of security. TIP: They have a bathroom, but there was a line the entire time our group browsed the store. Seeing the outside was cool, but felt weird shopping in a basement. The store did appear to have most anything one would expect from a Target store, clothes, groceries and electronics. If in the area, we would probably stop again.
Mar 20, 2024 -
This is first time in a long time that I ever was asked for help at a Target & this was my 1st visit here. While visiting in NYC I went to this location 4X’s! Everyone was so nice! Dan was so helpful and located the correct phone charger. Cashiers are nice and they have a wide selection. The grocery items are in the back and you will find some good treats.
Nov 23, 2023 -
A lot bigger inside than the original store looks, i was very surprised. They have some variety of items but not too much. The items they have cover all the sections you would hope for a in a shop and the staff were helpful at self-checkout. A nice target tucked away in new york! I enjoyed the short trip.
Nov 07, 2023 -
Stopped by for a few essentials on a weekday morning, the store was busy and not well stocked. I love the layout though and the associates were quick to unlock the products I wanted. They have many self checkout kiosks. Will probably visit again
Oct 03, 2023 -
Was here about a week ago because I was in the area due to a trip and the store is very nice and it’s very big also. They were well stocked in a lot of the stuff that I had purchased and the self checkout was very quick and efficient too. Would definitely come back again in the future if I’m ever area again. Know before you go though it is a little more expensive then your average Target due to it being in Times Square.
Apr 05, 2023 -
This store was a waste of a trip. It was very messy and out of stock of mostly everything. I stopped in around 1pm today; the staff were socializing and just talking about some really ghetto stuff on the floor. Disgusting chat that was embarrassing and I don’t know why they kept coming in my space sharing personal space to share stories when literally it was more than enough room. So since they were on top of me I asked a young lady named (begins with a “ D” in the beauty & skincare area; for her privacy I will just write the first letter but you can figure which employee you placed in that area. I asked her for help and she was completely rude and dismissive) It’s 3 of you crowding my space (practically on top of me watching my ever move like I’m about to steal out of Target) but giving a nasty attitude when someone asks you to get an item that requires an employee to unlock the area. On top of me but refusing to even acknowledge or speak when I said “hi can you help me with this.” A guy in passing heard me and then told her to grab the item. This was in the beauty and skin care area to be exact. I’m not sure if they understand that it isn’t only tourists coming into the store so customer service is a must regardless!!! In the clothing area (Women’s) I’m sorry but the staff hygiene was EXTREMELY poor. As someone who comes from working in the Times Square culture I was disgusted. Especially at the self checkout; the rude and dismissive employees. I will not return to this location at all and lately the locations have been disappointing. I rather just order from the online shop. If you’re traveling from far than maybe this is a good “to go” Target but honestly it’s small, low in stocked items, and you can just walk down to 34th or pick another store because I was not impressed. The corporate culture of your staff definitely deserves a 1/5 ⭐️ . The 2 stars was for the store by itself. Tourist location or not: BE PROFESSIONAL!!
