What clients say about The Cloud One Hotel New York-Downtown in New York (NY)

I booked the cloud river room and assumed it would be bigger but the view was nice. No incidental fees or deposit. Location is peak because of convenience to transportation.

Very good price-to-quality ratio. The room was clean and modern with enough space. Staff was professional. Safe area and pretty affordable for Manhattan. The bar at the 6th floor was very cozy and the bartender was really nice.

We absolutely loved our stay at this hotel. The room was very clean and quiet at night which was important to us after a whole day of walking (even though the hotel seemed busy due to Valentine's weekend). We had delicious breakfast there every morning and the staff- especially Gio were amazing, very helpful, friendly and so professional! The ladies at the reception were lovely and very helpful too. If we go back to New York we will definitely pick this hotel again, also due to its very convenient location.Thank you!

Location is strong—Financial District right next to World Trade Center/9/11 Memorial, easy walks to Battery Park, Wall Street, Oculus, and subway lines for quick Manhattan access. Great for Lower Manhattan exploring—calmer than Times Square chaos. Rooms were clean and modern with comfy beds, fridge, coffee/tea setup, and nice design touches. Small (NYC standard) but well-equipped and quiet. Service was good—friendly, helpful staff at front desk, smooth check-in, and attentive overall. Rooftop bar/views a nice perk, and value felt solid for the area. Would stay again for downtown convenience! 4 stars.

The wait to check in took probably about 45 mins and our room was unsure if it was ready at 4pm. The elevators take forever minimum 35 mins. They only had one going so if you had luggage than you were not fitting with other people in it. The room was nice but everything else made It honestly frustrating
Feb 15, 2026 -
There is currently only one working elevator, while four others are out of service. Any time you want to leave your room, you have to wait a minimum of 25–30 minutes just to get downstairs. This caused significant delays throughout our stay. We arrived around 5 PM, even though check-in begins at 3 PM. When we got there, we were told they needed to call housekeeping to see if our room was ready — two hours after the official check-in time. While the room itself was nice, the ongoing elevator issues were a major inconvenience and caused us to be extremely late to our reservations and plans. Overall, it made the experience frustrating despite the room being pleasant.

Rooms are fine, great view if you pay for it. But they advertise their app everywhere so I downloaded it and booked a night with a payment. When I arrived in the night, they did not see my booking nor then payment. They eventually found it, but asked for payment again. I refused, so they needed credit card for deposit. Guess what, I was charged for the second time. I had to contact front desk 3 times to get my payment back and I had to go to airport without payment refunded. But fortunately, they managed to refund it few days later. Check in took ages and also I did not get any water bottle, which was promised when booked through app.

My trip to New York was planned in advance. To spend a nice weekend with my husband and celebrate his birthday. Since it was our first time in New York, we wanted to see as much as possible. We booked this hotel, and we were not mistaken. Since living in New York is an expensive pleasure, I chose an inexpensive room, but upon arrival at the hotel we were very warmly greeted at the reception. And I found out that on this birthday of my husband they made us a pleasant surprise and gave us a room with a city view, which made us very happy. I definitely recommend this hotel to everyone. Modern design, exquisite dishes in the restaurant, and the bar is a pleasure. The same evening we arrived, we visited the bar late at night, and on the menu I saw that you can order a cocktail not the one on the menu, but from what you like. The girl behind the bar prepared us a wonderful cocktail that is not on the menu, and it was unbeatable. Your hotel added wonderful impressions and emotions to our trip to New York. everything is clean and well maintained, you feel at home, nothing causes discomfort. I will definitely go back there again and recommend this hotel to my friends. Thank you very much!

So if you take the 'budget' rooms like we did, they're ok. They're clean, but it is missing just some critical space to be honest, we couldn't even really store our luggage properly. However, and this is the big one, the location is absolutely perfect. So if you're looking for just a place to crash, and enjoy New York with a quick subway around the corner and great food and views nearby: then this is your spot.

Hosted a birthday here for about 25 people the bartenders were great and whipped up some awesome drinks the view is fantastic. The room was perfect for my stay for a few nights the bed was comfortable and it was very clean. Had breakfast in the café in the morning the staff was friendly and the eggs Benedict and sea salt cookie would happily order again!

We booked the Studio (only 2 rooms available in this category, Suite with a share terrace) and honestly: save your money — it’s not worth it. We know the Motel One / Cloud One brand very well from Europe, so we had a clear expectation. That’s exactly why it was shocking to experience such a miserable level of quality in New York. Yes, the view and terrace are great (probably amazing in summer). But as long as the terrace door isn’t properly fixed, this room is simply a complete nuisance. The door didn’t close properly, which caused a constant loud noise all night — we barely slept. And that wasn’t the only issue: -Broken bathroom door (sharp/unsafe — you can literally hurt your fingers) - Safe not fixed — basically ready to be carried out - Freezing cold bathroom - Almost no storage in the whole suite (no closet, only a few hangers) - Torn curtains with holes (and stains) - Elevator wait times up to 20 minutes And all of this for $800 a night? No way. We know New York is expensive — but this wasn’t “NYC expensive”, this was simply poor quality. We checked out after just one night and booked a top 5-star hotel for the same price. Honestly, we should have done that from the start.

My critique of this hotel has nothing to do with the rooms-- no issue with the room, front desk or housekeeping-- but the blaring issue was with the cafe/deli. My party of 2 tried three times to enjoy this establishment, but was met with apathy or curt attitudes. It may be linked to a possible staffing shortage, but every time we visited we were never serviced/ignored, and when we did request service, we're met with short responses followed by staff walking away from us. The first morning, we tried for breakfast. We stood at the counter trying to order, and no one would acknowledge us. After observation, we figured we would just sit ourselves (there was no signs with directions on how we were to be sat). We witnessed multiple parties sitting after us, and the waiter giving menus, getting drink orders, etc. Meanwhile we waited for about 40 mins trying to make eye contact with the server, but never got menus, or the opportunity to give our orders. We witnessed another man trying to give his order at the counter and a staff member curtly telling him they were not taking orders at the register, to sit himself and someone would be with him. After about 50 mins, with still no menus, we determjned we were wasting out time and gave up and decided to have breakfast elsewhere. Later that night, we tried again but this time just for drinks. The register/counter was open and we requested some coffees. Though they advertised multiple coffee and juice options, they were out of so much (mind you, it was 3 hrs until closing, we were there at 6, they closed at 9pm). The lady at the counter was once again very short with us. We asked for the Eggnog Latte, "no eggnog". We tried for a mocha coffee, "no mocha". We even tried for carrots juice, "no carrots juice." And thats exactly how she responded! No apology, just apathy. All items on the menu they were apparently out of. Instead of offering us if there was anything else we wanted, or telling us what she did have, she just walked away from us. It left a bad taste in our mouth. Finally, the day of checkout-- we left our bags at the lobby after we returned our keys, while we enjoyed our day at NYC. Before collecting our bags and catching the train, we decided to get some small cups of soup at a stand in midtown -- since we knew the service at the hotel Cafe had been nothing but disappointment. It was raining and cold, we had no choice but to return to the hotel to quickly eat it before collecting our bags and taking the train back home. Upon entering the hotel Cafe, it was very apparent there were little to no customers in it, multiple tables open. We went into the far corner to quickly Scarf down our soups-- and of course-- the same waitress from the night before goes up to us and says "no outside food or drink". I was livid, we couldn't be serviced multiple times at the hotel Cafe, she refused to even help us get anything on the menu that they weren't out of, and now that we had to go elsewhere to eat a small meal before departure, we couldn't even eat it in a virtually empty establishment in a hotel we booked for multiple nights. My partner had to eat his soup in the rain and cold outside the lobby. So disappointed in the cafe/deli staff and service. There were so many good points of the hotel (like the decor, friendlh lobby, lounge, cleanliness) that were truly overshadowed by their poor service at the cafe. If anyone were to stay here, steer clear of the cafe at the very least.

We stayed at The Cloud One Hotel in New York in December 2025 for five nights and honestly couldn’t have been happier. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed, comfortable, and completely taken care of. This is the kind of place you look forward to coming back to after a full day in the city. First of all, the bed was unbelievably comfortable. Easily one of the best hotel beds we’ve ever slept in. We slept like absolute babies every single night, which is saying something in a city that never sleeps! The staff deserves a huge shoutout as well. Everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly, warm, and genuinely helpful. Whether it was giving tips, helping with directions, or just greeting us with a smile, they made the stay feel personal and special. The location is excellent. With the subway, you’re in Midtown in about 20 minutes, and the hotel is really well connected in all directions, including to the nearby airports. Plus, the neighborhood itself has tons of shops, cafés, and restaurants within easy walking distance, so you’re never short on options. We also absolutely loved the bar on the 6th floor. It has a great atmosphere, the cocktails are seriously good, and the live music on Thursday nights is such a fun touch. Definitely a highlight and absolutely worth checking out. All in all, we would book The Cloud One Hotel again in a heartbeat and can warmly recommend it to anyone visiting New York. It truly made our trip even more special.

- [ ] i stayed at the cloud two nights ago for my birthday, last minute decision but the best decision everrr! as soon as we came i knew this was it, the lobby is very luxurious and warm literally and figuratively. the front desk, demian and another were extremely nice and attentive with our stay. The hotel elevator only functions when you swipe your room card which made us feel completely safe. There's a beautifully designed bar / food area in the lobby that's great for breakfast, before going out, literally anything. We were on the third floor but it was still amazing! I was personally in a room that had a building blocking the view but even that was a nice view. the rooms are very demure, so gorgeous and clean, the windows are also beautiful and give rich and expensive. checkout time is only $10 an hour until 3pm which is a great price compared to other hotels. Anything we needed the hotel took care of it! There's baggage carry service, those employeesl were also very kind, professional, and just amazing overall so was all the other staff! there's so many amazing perks and amenities like the balcony and other things but i personally was too busy to use them! Unfortunately i was having too much fun to get my phone out and take any pictures it's actually been killing me because the hotel was truly amazingg!!! The area also has a lot of options for just about anything so great area as well. The stay was so amazing i tried to book a second night but they had booked up and also raised the price significantly overnight so beware of that when planning to book. Most definitely will be coming back to the cloud soon that's now my second home i actually just got to my real home and it doesn't even feel right! love you cloud ❤️ BOOK IT

Great room with an awesome view of the entire wtc memorial. Beds are comfy, one pillow was a stiff memory foam but the other was nice and plush. Only complaint about the hotel was no conditioner and kinda rough one ply toilet paper. V close to numerous rail lines, shops, and food stalls. Staff were great front desk and bar. Good drinks and reasonable prices! Spouse and I were very happy with our stay. Will book again

Nice hotel, clean rooms but don’t book the breakfeast. The service was awful. We waited over half an Hour to get a coffee. Furthermore the cafe was way too cold. There are way better breakfast places around the hotel.

My friend and I took a girls weekend to New York City, and we had a very tumultuous time getting here. After arriving 3 hours past schedule, we checked in and ran into Johan and he was such a breath of fresh air. Immediately making great conversation, figuring out why we were there and giving us very educated recommendations on where to go. He instantly turned our night around and we’re eternally grateful. Thank you Cloud One and thank you Johan!

A slightly different review as the trip was a competition prize, so didn't choose this hotel or a trip to NYC! 😃|Having never been to New York before & this trip being an out of the blue experience, I can only review on what I found. |The hotel location isn't in the hustle & bustle of uptown, but staying over Thanks Giving with the crowds & the noise, escaping back to the area was a plus.|The room size is pretty standard for the UK. Probably feels a little smaller due to the oversized but very comfortable bed. Pod machine that does tea & coffee, in room safe, good bathroom with spacious shower & hairdryer.|Hotel bar has a fabulous view & the deli / cafe does a good breakfast.|The only complaint, the room aircon/heating units. The one in our room was loud & absolutely impossible to set at an ambient temperature... blast hot 🔥 ... blast cold 🥶... repeat!

We booked a room with two queen beds but were given two full sized beds. When we inquired about this, they hotel worker insisted that the beds were queen sized, but they clearly were not. I ended up sleeping with my daughter and not my husband. Also, the hotel advertises a fitness center when one does not exist. I won't stay here again.

This a mixed review 1 star on only big hard pillows and no substitutes. Very stupid of a $400 nite hotel 1 star check in when took 3 people 15 minutes 3 machines/computers to get my perfectly fine Amex card to work. Low end front desk service 5 star lounge and bar area and bartenders. The best reason to stay 4 star rooms and bed itself nice. I live out of hotels and soon buying a Luxury brand hotel but I’m not the hardest person to please if a hotel can at least get the basics right

Very clean room with comfortable beds and great views. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with anything we needed. The lounge is gorgeous. 911 memorial is across the street. We walked to almost everything.Wall street ,Trinity church the Brooklyn Bridge and much more.Easy access to subways . Even the ferry system is nearby. We took one to Staten Island . Would stay here again in a second!

NO HOT RUNNING WATER, EVEN IN 40 DEGREE WEATHER — lukewarm at best. NO clean/filtered water access (unless you pay an insane price in the cafe during business hours only.) nonchalant service at best and rude/disrespectful at worst. no hair conditioner in the bathrooms either! quite frankly, a hotel of this caliber having zero hot or accessible drinking water is unacceptable and sloppy. whoever runs this outfit is deeply unprofessional and incompetent. an awful cash grab, your money is best spent literally anywhere else. only good elements were clean rooms/good housekeeping, otherwise it doesn’t even meet the bare minimum. will be sharing my experience widely with any acquaintance of mine coming to new york. cafe pastries/drinks are also bad and overpriced.

Checked in Thursday 30Nov around 4 pm, had just made the booking 1 hr before as a last minute thing. Gentleman at the front desk was super kind, patient and friendly despite the hotel being very busy. He was very friendly and the female bartender on the rooftop bar was great!! Can’t remember her name but 10/10 service. The rooftop / lounge area is beautiful. Rooms were clean

The two Asian and European women at the reception need to learn what a good customer service look like and stop being rude with costumers. At the very first time of checking in one of them had an attitude when I asked if I can check in early. I was respectful when I asked that and she was very rude and disrespectful when answering and told me rudely to leave and come back at check in time. I don’t care about the check in time all I cared about is that she can say it nicely. Also, the Asian reception woman also talked to me rudely the next day when I asked for my room to be cleaned. Her answer and the way she raised her voice on me made a scene at the lobby and the people next to me where looking and it was very embarrassing and when I explained the situation to her and she understood that she made the mistake of not understanding what I was saying she didn’t even apologize. The same woman also when checking out and I asked for my bags to be stored and picked up later she ignored me and started to talk to a person behind me. Never coming back to this hotel again and will never recommend it to anyone. If you want to stay and leave and have your full dignity with you, do not stay here!
Oct 19, 2025 -
We booked a room "the cloud with king size bed". The person at the reception seemed apathetic and not capable. We payed the room in cash and he had trouble finding change (10 dollars!). To make matters worse, he gave us the wrong key. So we tried unsuccessfully to enter the room, and when we went down to the reception again, he didn't even apologize. Turns out that the rest of the staff is way more capable. Which we found out later on. The room itself was small. So that for example we had trouble placing our suitcases, and there was only one chair. Bathroom and shower on the other hand were spacious. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The view was reasonable. The bar with terrace on the sixth floor is very nice, with tasty interior and high ceiling. Breakfast in the stylish and cozy cafeteria was outstanding. In short, the room was to small for the price. But we liked the vibe and the location.
Oct 19, 2025 -
Don't make the mistake of staying at the Cloud One. All standard rooms (according to the receptionist) are right in front of the elevators. Rooms are small and dark, with those noisy fans reminiscent of another age. No water in the room. Unhelpful service. Price for this was a cool $550 per night.

We were really happy with our stay and will definitely come back here next time we’re in New York. The location is amazing – right by the 9/11 Memorial with lots of subway stations around, so you can get anywhere super quickly. There’s also a Target, Whole Foods, and plenty of restaurants in the area. The area feels calmer than Midtown, and with the police presence nearby we felt very safe. Staff are all friendly and smiling. It seems that the management took to heart the reviews about the lack of water in the rooms, as we received a large glass bottle of water from the reception upon check-in. Our room on the 11th floor was small but fine for two people with carry-on luggage (we travel light). If you’ve got big suitcases it might be tricky since there are only hangers in the closet and not much floor space. The room itself was clean and simple, not as fancy as the common areas, but still nice. Big plus for the coffee machine (capsules refilled daily: 2x tea, 2x coffee & 4x creamer for 2 people) and the spacious, bright bathroom – rare for NYC! The bed was high, large and comfy. The only downside: the AC both in the room and from the building next door was very loud. Earplugs recommended if you’re a light sleeper. During our stay, the elevators worked flawlessly – we never had to wait long. I had read in other reviews that housekeeping sometimes cleans rooms around 5 pm. On the 11th floor, the cleaning staff knocked on our door around 10–11 am. This hotel has 29 floors, so of course the housekeeping team reaches the higher floors later in the day. Another big plus for us – no hidden fees (which is pretty common in New York). Everything was included in the price, and the hotel doesn’t charge a deposit. Overall, a great stay in a perfect spot!

My daughter and son in law just brought me for an overnight stay for my 70th Birthday! My wish was to see the 9/11 Museum and it was on my bucket list... The first day we walked around NY and they bought me a zip up NY sweatshirt, took me for lunch and supper... Later we did the Staten Island Ferry. We were able to see Lady Liberty while taking pictures of her and the NY skyline! When we returned they took me to the World Trade Center Observatory, which is so Beautiful in the evening! From there we went back to our hotel room a the Beautiful "The Cloud One" where the staff was so accommodating and friendly... One last stop to have a nightcap in the bar... Amazing drinks, and may I add a Wonderful and Very hard working Bartender by the name of Andre! In the morning, off to breakfast and to the Museum... I was Overwhelmed with how Beautiful this Museum is... How Amazing of a job that was done on this treasure, and what a Blessing it turned out for me to be able to check this one off my bucket list... To my family, Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️! To NY City and it's people, as Always you are, and Always will, remain in my Heart & prayers ❤️🤍🩵

I’d like to give a special mention to Johan and Jose at the reception. Their kindness and willingness to help truly stood out and made our stay even better. The room was comfortable and well-kept, with a very cozy bed that ensured a great night’s sleep. The bathroom was beautifully designed, modern, and elegant. We also loved the hotel’s common areas, which are stylish, inviting, and create a relaxing atmosphere. Overall, a great experience that I would definitely recommend.
