Would have had a better experience at a hilton. So many complaints, by far the worst stay i’ve ever had at a “5 star” hotel. What is the point of a heated rooftop pool if there is no seating available?? We were planning to use the pool during our stay, but all the outdoor seating had no cushions and were stacked on top of each other. We were planning as well to visit the “speakeasy” on the property, but were told by the rooftop staff that it was only open two days a week. This seemed odd to me, so I called the lobby (from my cell phone, as multiple reviews have noted, the in room phones don’t work). The lobby said it was open and that they could forward me to the member service reservation number… i was then promptly disconnected… twice lmfao. Feeling defeated, all i wanted at that point was to order some room service dessert and call it a night, so i phone the front desk, and ordered a tart and the lava cake. When room service comes, they tell me they could not, in fact, make a lava cake as the kitchen had just closed, but they brought me a tiramisu, that I could pay extra for if i wanted… are u kidding me? bringing the wrong dessert, and its not even complimentary? what sort of joke is this place lol. It made me feel weird so I just said ok to the guy and moved on with my life (thank god we did take the tiramisu because the tart was horrible). I’m definitely forgetting other random bad things as well… Anyway, this place sucks, definitely spend your money elsewhere.

Beautiful, modern, and chic hotel!! The food was amazing and front desk staff and valet were super friendly! Great location for high end shopping and great restaurants. Located in one of the nicest neighborhoods in Manhattan. Love it!

We recently stayed at Gansevoort Meatpacking NYC for Valentine’s Day and overall had a very nice experience. The staff was incredibly accommodating and welcoming from start to finish, which definitely set the tone for our stay. The room was clean, well-kept, and the HVAC worked perfectly (which we appreciated, especially in the winter). One of the highlights was the terrace, even in February, the view over the Hudson was beautiful and made the stay feel special. There were a couple of small downsides. The radio in the room did not work and the TV functionality wasn’t working either. The remote had batteries, but none of the features responded. Since we were only there for one night, it didn’t make or break the experience for us, but when you’re spending over $750 for a room, a grand total of 1k after hidden fees- the little details do matter. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the service and atmosphere. With a bit more attention to in-room amenities, it would have been a flawless experience. Will stay with them again but in the warmer weather, we didn't not get to see the rooftop bar or pool.

Not all these rooms are great, beware of those who want to come here, you may get a room where the temperature gage doesn’t work so they will provide you with a heating fan, also if you want a guest to stay, they will charge you $100 a day for a pull out sofa bed, which should be less. Kitchen closes at 10pm really 9:50pm and if you want water they will charge you $8 a bottle water. Just ask for a complementary one and go to cvs and get your water at value cost. If you get to stay in the penthouse suite, that is a really nice two floor unit. Fire place, beautiful bathroom to relax and be in there for hours!!! Closet is all see through and motion sensor control with lights and a killer sound system .

We stayed at the Gansevoort for four nights over the New Year holiday. Let me start with the positives - the location is great; the staff are friendly; the hotel smells nice and has a trendy vibe; the rooms are large. Now for the negatives- Our second day there, we returned from our day out to find housekeeping had serviced the room but only provided one bath towel as a replacement. The staff were cleaning a room a few doors down, so I stood in the doorway of our room until I saw a houseman surface. I asked him for more towels and waited at my door in the hallway until he provided them. I then went to lie down while my husband went to use the bathroom. It's important to note the bathrooms have barn-style doors that don't lock. A few minutes later I heard some clicks, heard the bathroom door open, heard my husband scream, and heard a female voice say "sorry, sorry, sorry" and then heard our door close. I ran into the bathroom to ask what happened and my husband, still on the toilet, said housekeeping entered. No one knocked, no one announced themselves. He then said they’d also forgotten to replace the bathmat. So again, I went out into the hall and caught a houseman who provided a mat. I went to relax again and a few minutes later heard more clicks (which I now know is the sound of the door opening). I yelled “no, get out!” and heard the man who had helped me say “oh sorry sorry!” Now, this is the second time in 10 minutes a housekeeper entered without knocking and without announcing themselves, and this man KNEW we were in the room because I’d spoken with him twice. At this point I went to the front desk, told the agent what had happened, and left my name, number, and room number for a manager to call me. None ever did. The next day we returned to the room and saw housekeeping had serviced it. I went to make myself a drink and realized they had taken all the glasses and left none. This time, I went straight to the front desk and asked for a manager. I explained the situation to her but she seemed extremely busy. I left her my information and told her it was okay to call me back, but that we needed glasses in the room. About 10 minutes later, a staff member showed up to our room with bottled water, not glasses. A while later the manager called. She indicated they wanted to offer us a credit for the issues, but since we prepaid, all she could do was offer a food and beverage credit. We indicated that would be fine and asked if we could use it for room service, which she indicated we could. The next morning we ordered room service. It arrived with empty salt and pepper shakers. About an hour after it was delivered, as we were showering and getting ready, there was a knock at the door. The room service attendant indicated he needed to come collect the plates. We weren’t clothed and my husband wasn’t finished yet, but we were already so annoyed we threw clothes on and let him take the tray out. The day of our departure, we were awoken at 8:15am by knocking at the door. It was housekeeping telling us they needed to clean our room. I curtly replied that we were not ready to check out yet and asked them to leave. We checked out around about an hour before check-out time and stored our bags. While at brunch I received the folio from the hotel- no food and beverage credit had been applied. They rectified this when we returned. In addition to this, the phone in our room was broken and only worked on speaker phone, we could not reach anyone in the in-room dining department, and at one point the elevator was broken and kept taking us to the mezzanine level, which was very dirty and full of boxes and storage. We’ve stayed at luxury hotels all over the world. This was by far the most negative interaction we had with staff at a hotel. We are easy guests and not demanding, but the standards of service at the Gansevoort are severely lacking. If you want a seamless, luxury experience, I highly recommend you book elsewhere. The location alone is not worth the trouble. Very disappointing.

Adorable boutique hotel. It has some glaring design flaws that are weirdly becoming common design choices - a decade from now history will look at these design choices and ask - what idiot thought that was a good idea ? For example…barn door sliders on the bathrooms that don’t latch and slide open leaving unavoidable gaps. Half a see through door on the shower, the entire set up means you had better be a very comfortable exhibitionist with your chosen roomies. No additional lounge chairs or table space of any kind save a very small office chair. It may sleep a family of four, but its clear they want young romantic couples, not the typical age and stage of traveling Americans. Spare your older children or your aging bodies the embarrassment of this set up. The lobby area is equally as unaccommodating, with one small couch offering seating space during check in (and most people check in and out at the same times meaning a large bottle neck in a small area). Its very cute, but someone with practical knowledge of travel and staying in hotels needs to re design the rooms and common areas.

Absolutely stunning. Beautiful, spotless rooms with gorgeous views, and the staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating. A truly stellar experience from start to finish and we will absolutely stay here again.

At the bar at the Gansevoort Meatpacking, the Food & Beverage Manager, John, saw me enter and still had me wait about 10 minutes, only to cancel my drink order and say the bar was “closed.” This was done rudely and without any apology. As a hotel guest, this level of service was unacceptable. John was not welcoming or professional. I would never stay here again and would not recommend this hotel to anyone expecting basic hospitality.

The Gansevoort Hotel delivers a stylish, high-energy stay that blends luxury with a distinctly modern edge. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere feels vibrant yet refined, with sleek design, attentive service, and a strong sense of place. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable, offering thoughtful details and a layout that feels both functional and indulgent. One of the hotel’s standout features is its social energy—whether it’s the rooftop scene, lounge areas, or dining options, the Gansevoort excels at creating spaces that feel lively without being overwhelming. The amenities elevate the experience, particularly the pool and fitness facilities, which add to the feeling of an upscale urban retreat. Service is consistently professional and welcoming, with staff who are responsive and knowledgeable, making the stay smooth from check-in to departure. Overall, the Gansevoort Hotel is an excellent choice for travelers looking for a chic, contemporary hotel that balances comfort, nightlife, and luxury in one seamless experience.

Best place to stay in the area (warehouse district, Greenwich Village, Chelsea), great walking to Chelsea Market and High Line Gardens, clean, cozy, upscale enough without being cold. Wonderful little brunch and cocktail bar in the lobby. Try the espresso Manhattan ❤️

Wonderful hotel. Second time staying here. Location is perfect and close to everything. Service was wonderful, comfortable and enjoyable! Would stay again.

The location of this hotel is fantastic. Close to everything you'd want. Most staff you interact with are very friendly and helpful. A few at the front desk weren't as good as others, but hey everyone has tough days. Bar is lively and the facilities are clean. The room was good, but unfortuantely not 5 stars. Everything was clean for the most part, but the bathroom especially looks tired. A lot of wear and tear. The HVAC struggled considerably as well. If it was more than a one night stay, I would have requested a new room. Definitely note- doors slam very loudly when exiting rooms. Walls are already quite thin, so this could really disturb a light sleeper. Bed is comfortable and linens are nice. Overall, a good experience.

Yes, it's one of the nicest establishments in the Meatpacking District, with wonderful restaurants and pool. But what made it top calibre nice was the hard working and hospitable staff. Thank you again for a memorable stay.

Nice hotel with nice size relatively quiet room. Location is ideal for us as we are visiting family that live nearby. All the staff were pleasant and welcoming. We will be back!
Sep 25, 2025 -
Overall, a pleasant stay. All staff encountered were friendly, room was clean and presentable. The rooftop pool is a great afternoon escape after a walk in the city. The above said, the room doors need to be better insulated, as hallway noise was very loud (talking and slamming doors) in the room. Additionally, some of the plumbing fixtures were misaligned which made use tricky.

Worst experience with the front desk. I arrived off a redeye and because I didn’t tell them I was coming early morning instead of the night before they cancelled my room. They don’t help me book another room or hotel but just said nothing they could do and sent me on my way. Terrible policy and terrible service. Would not recommend

Ok hotel, definitely not a 5 star hotel worth the $$$ due to the disappointing staff. There is a pervasive lack of competence from the front desk to the restaurant servers, housekeeping, and management. It felt as though the hotel is run by children. It took 40 minutes to deliver our drinks when the restaurant was slow-- the manager stopped by to "handle it" and then disappeared only to tell my husband later while handing him his drink "oh yeah sorry I had to go the bathroom"; housekeeping did not show up unless requested; there is a very loud alarm that goes off and on all night outside the front of the building which the hotel will act surprised about. For an extra $100 stay at The Crosby.

Here’s the thing! I don’t LOVE NYC. But what I do love it the personalized service and friendliness I receive every single time I stay at the Gansevoort! I stay here when I do business in the city and the service never disappoints. Jorge the Bartender keeps the drinks flowing with the most brilliant flair and personality, David the Director of Service is always around ensuring guests are well taken care of. He takes the time to chat with each table. I love that! Shout out to Roy the waiter and Flavien the Bartender. Excellent service worthy of the 5 star. To the super kind doorman and the lovely front desk Lady (working a double shift) thank you! I see you all and I am grateful for your service this trip. 🤎

Beautiful hotel and great pool. A lifeguard did say that my friend and I smelled like bong water which was a little surprising/rude, and the fridge didn’t work properly and I had to call about it several times.

Such incredible service! My husband and I stay at this hotel twice a year, and this time we brought our toddler and dog. When our pup got heatstroke, the staff went above and beyond—doormen, front desk, everyone jumped in to help. Bryne and Marcel were especially kind, checking in on us each time they saw us. They were also so sweet with our son, always offering high fives and fist bumps. It made a stressful situation so much easier. My husband and I have been to NYC maybe 25 times, and we have simply fallen in love with the hotel and staff!

I had a wonderful stay everything was clean, quiet, and thoughtfully designed. Service was excellent from start to finish. I was welcomed to my room with a plate of mini summer desserts and chocolates, which was such a lovely touch. I really appreciated the high-quality toiletries, and was pleasantly surprised to find a flat iron available to touch up my hair after a rainy afternoon. Controlling the room temperature myself was a plus, and while I didn’t get to use the Lululemon Studio Mirror or the sanitized yoga mat this time, I’ll definitely take advantage next visit. The location is incredibly convenient just steps from Chelsea Market, the 14th Street Station, Citi Bikes, and Starbucks Reserve so much more. Would absolutely return!

Fantastic location for a night out in the city. Close to beautiful parks along the Hudson, just a block from Chelsea market, and an easy stroll to the West Village scene.

We had a great Mom/Daughter trip to NYC at the Gansevoort! The hotel was an awesome location so close to so many shops, restaurants, Chelsea, Pier 52, Hudson yards, the High Line, etc. The service was amazing. Will was so kind and welcoming everyday as we came and went. The rooftop pool was so comfortable with a beautiful view. Clarisse was very helpful at the pool as well. From the front desk staff to the housekeeping staff, everyone was great!! Overall it was an amazing stay and experience and we will for sure be back!!

Beautiful rooms and great service! Would love to see the bathrooms updated a bit. I understand it’s the overall style. The walls are on the thinner side and you can hear folks from your room. Everything was comfortable and clean though which is beyond appreciated!

This hotel is severely misrepresented as a 5-star property. The lobby is small and unremarkable, the rooms are cramped and shabby, and the bathrooms were downright gross. The bathroom floor was especially disgusting, and the door was broken when I arrived—while they did fix it, that kind of issue shouldn’t happen at this level. There was no tea kettle or coffee maker in the room, which I’ve never experienced at a 5-star hotel. The pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable, the walls are thin, and the blinds were broken and didn’t go down all the way. Service was also disappointing. I spent 5 minutes on hold with the front desk to request an extra blanket, which then took another 15 minutes to arrive. The staff seemed indifferent and uninterested in making our stay anything but mediocre. You’re paying premium prices for a budget-level experience. Do yourself a favor and stay at one of the nearby hotels instead.

We booked with chase points that included breakfast and an upgrade if available. The room was fine but only thing special was that it wasn’t tiny like many NYC hotels. We asked for an upgrade but were told they were fully booked. The breakfast was so bad the first day that we did not go back the second day. The food was mediocre, the coffee was cold but the worst part was the service which was so slow and completely unwelcoming. The service throughout the hotel, from the front desk to the room service delivery person was dismissive and almost rude.

Wonderful, welcoming, attentive service. Beautiful, comfortable room with a wonderful view of the Hudson. I even left my cell phone and tripod in my room and they were honest and diligent to send it back to me!! Will come back for my next work trip. The location is so great for walking! Sushi on the rooftop was delicious too.

I travel often and have stayed at many hotels across the country and abroad — and I’ve never experienced anything like what happened at the Gansevoort. After returning home from my stay, I discovered that two personal items — a pair of shoes and a bottle of perfume — were missing from my luggage. These were not left out in the room; they were packed. The shoes were in my suitcase and the perfume was in my bag. I called and emailed the hotel immediately upon realizing, only to be told later that they didn't believe anything was missing — implying that I made it up. Why in the world would I fabricate something like this? This is not about the money. It’s about the unsettling feeling of knowing someone went through my things. That violation, combined with the dismissive response, was deeply disappointing. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only issue. The front door staff routinely stood and watched as guests struggled with the heavy entry door — including my 15-year-old who was carrying multiple coffees. Not once did anyone step in to help. Basic hospitality was noticeably lacking. I had high expectations for the Gansevoort, and the property itself is lovely. But the security, staff engagement, and accountability fell far short of what you’d expect from a hotel at this level. Would I return? No. I value trust and care in hospitality, and sadly, that was missing here — just like my belongings.

I’ve been to NYC a few times and stayed in Times Square. This time a friend recommended that I stay around Meatpacking and suggested Gansevoort. From the moment I arrived to when I left, it was an absolute wonderful experience, the room was cozy, the staff were amazing and always willing to help. The location of the hotel is perfect for anyone wanting to avoid the hustle and bustle. One member of staff stood of for me - Erika. She went above and beyond to help with anything, always smiling and extremely pleasant. The whole team were amazing but I would say she stood out. I’ll definitely be coming back next year

From the moment you arrive, this hotel captivates with its breathtaking beauty and impeccable cleanliness. The location is simply perfect, offering a wonderful backdrop for any stay. However, what truly elevates this establishment to extraordinary heights is its exceptional service. I must extend my heartfelt gratitude to John, the bellman and valet extraordinaire. His assistance with maneuvering awkward items from my car and his innovative problem-solving skills were invaluable. John's warmth and professionalism set an incredibly high standard for my stay right from the start. This outstanding first impression was consistently matched throughout my visit. Every interaction reaffirmed the hotel's commitment to guest satisfaction. For those seeking a harmonious blend of stunning surroundings and world-class hospitality, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. It's a testament to how the right staff can transform a beautiful location into an unforgettable experience. Thank you to the entire team but especially John for making my stay truly exceptional!
