What clients say about Target in New York (NY)
-
They have an amazing store manager. Usually, managers listen to complaints and apologize, which can take time, but he was extremely efficient and helped me immediately!

Target is always a great bet to get most things you need on a regular basis and emergencies

Good store
It's one of their smaller locations so they didn't have what I needed
It was clean and their customer service was okJan 01, 2026 -
Had a bad experience today trying to buy a $40 pair of headphones on 12/29 at 4:15pm….the younger guy downstairs unlocked the case and then said he would
Meet me with them upstairs….he took his time to drop them at the desk and then there was a line to pay with a cashier…:total waste of my time for a cheap item and to make me wait twice for him to bring the headphones upstairs and then to wait in line when I could have done self service checkout is bs and clearly that guy doesn’t get that the customer wants to be in and out of the store….he should be coached on these things…..Dec 29, 2025 -
Felt uncomfortable seeing a young worker doing something he wasn't be doing and that's just not acceptable

Great store, friendly, helpful staff, with fantastic prices in grocery and household items. I go every week. My only problem with them is their staff moving those large trucks for shelves re-stocking during the day and the busiest times. Why they aren’t stocking shelves overnight to give customers a break, I don’t know. Won’t stop us though!

If you would like to be RACIALLY PROFILED and HARRASED by employee’s while shopping, this is the place for you. I had an extremely upsetting experience at this Target involving racial profiling by an employee. My friend and I, both Black, were shopping together and checking out at the self-checkout. My friend scanned and paid for her reusable bag, yet a short, light tan–skinned woman who appeared to be Hispanic with shoulder-length black hair, a nose piercing, and large spider-like false eyelashes approached only us with hostility unprovoked snatched her bag, demanded her receipt, and stared at it for nearly five minutes before falsely claiming she hadn’t paid. She then forced my friend to purchase another reusable bag. While I was mid-checkout, she came to me as well, accusing me before I even finished scanning, despite no other customers being questioned. Both my friend and I spent upwards of $100 and were clearly paying customers if anything, based off of this employee’s profiling tactics used, she’d fit the description of a thief better than us. She continued to watch us from an aisle afterward, making us feel targeted and unsafe. This was blatant racial profiling and completely unacceptable. I should’ve taken my money elsewhere and will in the future. Horrendous and disgusting behavior.

Horrible employees, absolute waste of my time. They tell me something is available and make me come half an hour to find out it’s not.
Oct 31, 2025 -
Do not go there! I called to ask if they had Pokémon cards, they said yes. I went there right away, spent money to go nearly 30 minutes, just to find out they did not. Awful people, worse store.
Oct 31, 2025 -
The staff is very nice and helpful but the store is way too small to service the entire neighborhood. Whenever I find something on the Target app, like the awesome pair of Goodr sunglasses I got, you inevitably have to go to another store. I had to go to Marble Hill to get my shades. But all and all it’s good if you need toiletries or groceries (the super chunky peanut butter is only $4!)

Went to pick up 2 items which were noted as available on line beforehand. Unfortunately only one item was in the store when I got there. The store is on 2 levels which is ok except the escalator limits buying a lot of items on the lower level (only basket can go on escalator) since cashiers are on ground level. The entrance not inviting and it is a small store but ok for a quick walk in purchase.

Probably the worst target ever. Things say they’re on sale and they don’t scan on sale so a worker has to help you. The prices are all wrong. It’s 3x the price of a target in the Midwest or South. Absolutely absurd
Aug 07, 2025 -
Great selection of items downstairs. Friendly staff. Can be quite busy and single file in the aisles.
Aug 04, 2025 -
Today I came in to buy a Van Leewen I’ve Cream pint. I asked to price-match it with Amazon.com and an associate called Tina refused because it was on Amazon’s web. I pulled out Target’s price-matching policies where is stated that they do price match with Amazon. Two employees came to stop me from complaining until I showed the policies and the price at Amazon. What a waste of time during Mother’s Day! Only because I was smiling!!! What about my time??? Time is priceless!! Please request your employees to ask for things correctly and not judging that they are trying to fool them!! Thank you.

Went there today. Employee was friendly and showed me where to find M&Ms. As someonone who works at Target this is excellent service. Line moved quickly. Heads up, self checkout is CARD AND APPLE PAY ONLY NO CASH.
Jul 20, 2025 -
I don’t know why they’re showing pictures of the clothes. This location literally has no clothes whatsoever. It’s false advertising this place is so tiny does not carry everything that you need. I don’t even see the point of this target. It’s literally like a pharmacy I would avoid.

Stopped by the store on 3rd at 70th street today to buy a few things. Store is two levels. Store was reasonably busy but had to look for an employee to point me in the right direction. Unfortunately many of the items are in locked cabinets which require a helper to unlock. Then back up to ground level to pay. Today I used self checkout and it went smoothly.

I love this store! Once upon a time it was athe offices of the FBI and as you head to the lower level you can see the remnants of the huge safe . Target has a great selection of produce, cosmetics as well as all kinds of items that apartment dwellers need!
Jan 18, 2025 -
They make it impossible to buy things. Want to get something in store? Wait 15 minutes for an employee to upen their glass doors. Want to pickup an online order? It takes them 20 minutes to find your stuff. What is the point of this store if you can’t buy anything? It should be shut down or radically overhaul their management and practices.
Dec 19, 2024 -
This store is always hotter than hell. I swear the heat was on today… Aug 22nd! They’re always out of groceries and the employees just stand around and chit chat with eachother. This is the worst city target by far. Just walk to 86th instead
Sep 12, 2024 -
This store does not price match. Only against Walmart. Staff is rude and try to troll you amongst other staff. Very unprofessional and unwilling to help. I have had way better experiences at the targets I usually go to. Also the staff tried to insult my intelligence when I have been a target customer for 13 plus years. I will never step foot in this location again. I will be sure to spread the word to my neighborhood friends.

On a hot day not a bottle of water in the fridge just the stuff they want to sell not the stuff you want to buy. And no they did not run out according to the rep they just don’t put water in the fridge.

I’ve shopped here for years. It’s small, but always had a fairly good inventory and good prices (for NYC). On my latest trip today, I found even more items locked up behind glass than ever before…I would say at least a third of all items. That’s annoying enough, but unlike CVS there is no way to notify employees that you need a cabinet unlocked. You have to wander around to find someone and the store seems a little understaffed. They recently installed even more self-checkouts and the staff seems confused and/or indignant when you try to check out at the regular counter. One employee had no idea how to bag groceries and seemed like he was expecting me to do it.

This Target is so funny. I work next to it for three years now as a personal assistant, and every time for three years when I stop in to grab something, they don’t have it. They choose to stock the weirdest things and nothing practical. For example, an entire aisle for pet supplies but they don’t carry dog poop bags. Another example, today is October 28 and they don’t even carry any Halloween makeup. There are always dozens of employees staffed all at the same time and doing nothing. It’s wild here and always such a waste of time. They won’t have what you want.

I love Target, but this location is super small and doesn’t carry many stuff. Decor is very minimal for a department store, they offer some lamps and pillows.
They have a supermarket downstairs. I didn’t see any clothing either.May 11, 2023 -
This was my first time shopping in this little tiny Target on the upper east side ( Or is that Midtown east). Anyway all the worker I came in contact with was super friendly and helpful. The place was fairly well organized considering the amount of things they try to put in a small space. The gentlemen manning the self-checkout was super helpful. He honored the 20% discount that was advertised on the rack I picked up the dress I was buying even though it was a clearance item and supposedly did not belong on that particular rack. That is what I call customer service.

Store has barely anything but masks. Seriously, how many masks can you buy? I can purchase masks now in every single NYC store, but no flip flops anywhere.

New store, a welcome addition to the block. Needs more stock though in many departments especially on a weekend!

Target makes a lot of sense in the suburbs or exurbs where you need to drive to any store, and having a single large store with all of your basic needs is convenient. This Target on the upper east side of Manhattan doesn’t serve any purpose. It has some food, but there are full supermarkets less than two blocks away in two directions. It has toiletries and cosmetics, but the streets are already dotted with Duane Reades. It has housewares but the apartments here are so small you don’t need much, and it’s easier to buy online and have things delivered. And there’s some hideous clothing made with synthetic materials, but come on, this is Manhattan. The only play I can see is to try compete with the Duane Reades and bodegas, but the store is too large for that, and no one is going to go out of their way when you can get the same generic stuff closer.

The store is open and have more things than I expected. They have two floors, street level and basement, which has fresh fruits and vegetables looking surprisingly good. Definitely coming back.
