Beware of Doyle. I bought an extremely expensive item from there and found it to be a fraud. They don't do their due diligence and only returned my money to me after I threatened legal action. The owner of Doyle didn't want to refund me my money. Can you imagine that they don't verify what they are auctioning? Go to Sothebys or Christies or other reputable first rate auction houses.
I still cannot believe their arrogance after all of these years. After finding out that they sold me a fake, they were angry at me and did not want to take the merchandise back.
I would give 0 stars - Doyle must be staffed with 25 year olds without any knowledge of antique jewelry - they gave me a value of $3000-$5000 for a broach that I did sell to an independent collector for more than 5 times that price -

He even takes time from his busy schedule to send endless images until you feel confident in a piece that is under consideration for purchase. His follow-through and knowledge is exceptional! Buyer beware. Doyle does NOT guarantee the authenticity of their merchandise. After purchase I took the item to the jeweler and they determined that it was not authentic. When I tried to bring it back to Doyle, not only were they unapologetic but shockingly they refused to refund my money. I had participated in many auctions at high end auction houses. I have never seen such underhanded and devious practices. After months of arguing and with emails from Van Cleef proving it was inauthentic, they finally refunded my money without apology and with the disclaimer that they don’t guarantee the veracity of Cartier, Van Cleef, Bulgari, etc since that would cost too much money to have these companies authenticate them as there is a charge for that service. Do not trust them.

Terrible auction. Buyers be aware of the pictures on their website. The Cartier ring I purchased was not what was shown in the picture. The setting was ruined when they took the gemstone out for assessment and they didn’t put the ring back in like it was shown on the picture. The jeweler they used are definitely not professional enough to put it back together properly. When I talked to them they told me to send it back to repair it. After waiting for few days without any responses, I called them today and was told the ring could not be repaired… they would just refund me. Like if I didn’t call them, they would just take my over $13k money!? They just said to wait patiently for the refund. What about the $228 shipping costs that I paid? When I called back again, no one was picking up the phone!!! The is such a scam!
Happened to be going to NYC and my grandmother had left me some high end jewelry when she passed that weren’t my style. I worked with Martha Garcia and everything went exactly as initially described. I got updates throughout the day of auction plan to return with a few more items.
The worst auction among the big auction houses in New York City, I purchased one of the Chinese porcelain and when I brought it home I realized there was a number mark on the bottom, where in the original photo the number can barely seen, and there was no note mentioned about the numeral in the description, I sent message asking them what is that number and what is that mean, and I sent about 4-5 emails, NO ONE WANT TO HELP ME, NO RESPOND. I wasn't even ask for refund, I simply wanted to know what that is. the worst experience I have ever had with a auction house. if you purchase a thing that meets your expectation then I congratulate you, if not, check out other auction companies like Christie's and Sotheby's.

Very disappointed with the tone of this auction House. I bought some exceptional bronze sconces from this auction house for my wife. Unfortunately, my wife passed away suddenly on May 16th . They never got back to me about me recon signing these sconces and another high end set of silvered sconces. I believe I spoke to Courtney who had a bit of a " nose in the air attitude" which I found to be appalling. If you want respect, you have to give respect. I will never ever purchase anything at this auction house again. Obviously, they don't value their customers just their $$$
Doyle offers high end lots often at high end prices but still not as inflated as other more global houses. I trust their attribitions and descriptions. Finally, this is a female led multi generational business; not a small feat!
I was disappointed when I tried to sell a Mahogany buffet piece that I had bought there 9 years ago and after a long wait was declined as I was told "tastes have changed" and was not valuable enough to resell anymore. Not impressed with the follow up service. As a response to your comment, it was not an estimate but a refusal to sell and Item I bought from you 9 years ago. I also submitted additional items at the same time and nobody responded. I was let down by your service as I tried to contact people multiple times. I still have not heard back but have lost any interest in trying. I had bought several items at your auction house but I have learnt my lesson.
Doyle helped me sell a Jack Roth abstract painting when Southeby’s and Christie’s were not interested. The commission ended up being 15% and there were some fees along the way for storage and insurance. They listed it in a spring auction at $5,000, but it didn’t get a single bid. They were good enough to relist in a fall auction at a $2,000 starting bid and it sold for $3,250. I was hoping for a better price, but they don’t control the art market, which I’ve learned is difficult to gauge. All-in, I was happy with the process.

be very careful....do not stand behind merchandise even if they give a written condition report.....they can say perfect, but if repaired or cracked in half you own it anyway and they will not work with you to resolve. But, they do state it in their listings. They are only opinions.....not experts...HAHAHA
Revised: Provident Loan auction;, a mess; one lot had one piece jewelry listed as 14 karat, actually sterling, another was flimsy Chinese-made goods. My jeweler was not happy. The two were given back and awaiting refund.. Too few counters and assistance, leading to an overcrowded condition where it was nearly impossible to inspect properly. This leads to pickup surprises. Buyers for gold predominate. Once this was a dignified setting.
