I had a really nice experience at this store. The gentleman working at the counter helped to guide me through what product would work best for my project and was really patient with me. Never tried to upsell ,which I really appreciated and would remake me a returning customer.

Garber Hardware is a gem. Everyone who works here is so friendly and helpful; for a small-sized shop they have always had the screw, anchor, drill bit, or lightbulb that I’ve needed. A fantastic neighborhood hardware store.

Great selection for a hardware store helped me out in a pinch.

This hardware store offers the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The guy at the front desk was extremely rude, unhelpful, and had a disgusting attitude. He treated customers with zero respect and made no effort to assist. I strongly advise everyone to avoid this place—it’s the worst experience you can have in a hardware store.

My experience at this hardware store was terrible. The service is horrible, and one of the employees treats people as if they were worthless. As soon as he noticed my accent, his attitude turned racist and disrespectful, acting as if he were above everyone else. I absolutely do not recommend this place.

Needed an emergency tool and was stoked to find that there was a hardware store 2 blocks away. Showed up and was disappointed to find that the guy had closed up 15 minutes early to smoke outside AND was super rude about it :(

They’re not helpful at all. I was looking inside of the store for 10 minutes. Nobody say nothing if I can find it or not, never going back.

No better Hardware Store in the city. This is why you’ll always see local contractors there. They have such a vast knowledge of problems that I encounter in fixing a problem with my apartment, they always save me money and provide an instant solution. Simply the best.

I was a loyal customer, but my recent experience was very disappointing. I urgently needed a paper bag to help a sick pigeon I rescued nearby, so I went into the store to ask for one. Unfortunately, I was denied unless I made a purchase over $10 to meet the credit card minimum. Even after explaining the situation, the staff claimed they didn’t hear me mention the ‘sick bird.’ This lack of empathy has made me reconsider returning to this store.” Ps: Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

I went in and chose a product for an issue I had, and to be nice and make conversation (my first mistake) asked the man at the desk if he could reccomend it for the issue I described. He suggested another product, twice the price, and I went and got it. Hesitant that it was Right, I pointed to an illustration on my product which showed the exact situation, but he insisted the one he suggested was great and would work, so I took his advice (my 2nd mistake) Well, it didn't work at all, and I immediately went back within 10 minutes to return it, as every other hardware store I have ever been to (as a handyman that works all over the world) has taken back a product that didn't work, and especally when THEY recommended it & you have the receipt. A different man was there and after I explained the situation, rudey replied that they didn't give refunds and I was "lucky to get free advice".(BTW, the product was still usable).Rather flabbergasted at his coldness, I suggested an even exchange, which he also refused, but when I insisted that, as an advised customer, It Was Not My Fault, he brusquely handed the original product to me (which DID work). So I lost half the money, but worse, was treated rudely as a customer. I know it is becoming more the norm in these times, but that was Very Bad Customer Service, especially from a small local business. Luckily there is now another hardware shop just up the road on 8th, which I (and all my colleagues) will now be using.

I had a great experience at Garber Hardware when I brought in an old maglite from a relative. Nathaniel, who runs the place, recognized its sentimental value and took the time to fix it. When I tried to pay, he insisted it was on the house. In the rare case they don't have what you're looking for, they're always upfront about it and will even suggest other places to check (even Amazon).

This is the best neighborhood hardware store you would hope for! I live in an old building where things are constantly in need of fixing and Garber is my first and only stop when things come up. The owner is very helpful and knowledgeable to point you to exactly what you need- plumbing, electrical, you name it. They are open early and for a small store they seem to have everything you need for household projects.

The store owner Nathaniel was super kind, helpful and knowledgeable. I started to buy something (more expensive) that I didn’t need and he actually took the time (even though they were closing) to help me look up/research the size and type I needed. He also makes some really cool wall sculptures!

This is a great hardware store large selection of all tools gardening supplies i recommend you take a look and see if you find all your needs satisfied at this one stop shopping experience

I love this hardware store and it’s always my first stop in the neighborhood when I have hardware needs. The staff is helpful when needed, but not overbearingly so. I’m always happy to support a smaller business over the big box Home Depot a few blocks east.

Great place, if they don't have something you need they can order. I was looking for a 4×4 electric box cover with decora rocker switch opening, its wasn't available on site but the gentleman behind the counter went out of his way to look for it and then ordered it for me, good business brings alot of business.

Extremely helpful staff! Always willing to go the extra mile to solve a problem or to provide helpful advice for an installation. Plus they have a sweet dog named Kangaroo that loves to hang out at the store!

4 stars for being an independent hardware store. They will get a 5th star when they have been here long enough to have old dusty boxes of strange old parts that I always seem to need because I live in an old strange dusty apartment building where nothing is "standard" anymore.

I live in the neighborhood and was happy to see a new hardware store pop up nearby.. I was even happier when I walked in.. bright well stocked space carrying great inventory, knowledgeable staff, and locksmith services. Nat was happy to answer all my questions and order me some supplies he had in stock in their West Village store.

Most helpful hardware store staff ever. So friendly and willing to explain the differences between a few items! Thanks Garber Hardware - you guys are awesome!

Best Damn Hardware Store. Was a frequent visitor of their original store in the West Village but loving the new Chelsea location (And it is now closer to my home now) Service is personable as expected for a family owned business. If they don't have what you are looking for they will get it for you or help you figure out what you need. Def the place to go for all your household project and for household needs you didn't know you needed. BONUS If you need a dog fix they have the cutest Hardware dog (KANG)!

Truly a great hardware store that that has anything and everything you need. Customer service is top notch and their knowledgeable staff helps point me in the right direction. You won't find this type of service in those big box stores. Glad to support this great family business.

This store is the best. Aside from the selection, the people that work there are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. I went in with a problem and they gave me a solution that even I could do! Love it!!

Garber Hardware is THE source -- can't do my job without it. They have everything you'd find in a big box store, with the added bonus of great customer service. Nothing like a family-owned business to treat you right.
