What clients say about Target in New York (NY)
-
Today, there was a shopper going through a mental health crisis screaming throughout the store. At least 10+ shoppers were terrified and afraid for their safety. This continued for 30+ minutes while the store took no action, despite several customers expressing their discomfort. I have serious concerns regarding the reactions of this security staff, and I recommend they review their safety procedures.

The building and restrooms were clean upon my visit. Plenty of options for all shopping. Most shelves were fully stocked with products.

I don’t know what to say .. I get these places may not want scalpers etc . But today someone close to me waited online for my nephew to get the new release and when he went in the didn’t have anything new the first person online didn’t get the new release. I have and others have went in and asked if they have cards ( which they do limit 1 per) and they’ll say no. It seems very fishy they put stuff only behind the counters and in the room. I have been told no by someone behind the counter and a manager overheard and said “wait stuff came in” and when they started to put it out 2 of the cashiers grabbed one of each product and put it away almost as if they didn’t want to put them out. Or want to pick and choose who they sell to. the employees are a lot of younger people pre buying and getting first dibs on products who’s to say they are not scalpers themselves . The customer service is horrible no one ever answers I get why because they don’t know what to say . Do they limit detergent when it’s on sale are they hiding that to ? Its strange.

Nice location. Staff is helpful and attentive. Maybe might one qualm is that often times there are items you would expect they’d have in store but surprisingly aren’t. I suppose that’s way online shopping bears brick and mortar sometimes.
Dec 13, 2025 -
The staff here are miserable. Customer service refused to process a purchase when the checkout line was around the store and they were disgustingly rude. Selection and stock are okay but prices and shopping experience leave a lot to be desired.

I had an incredibly frustrating experience at Target today, and I feel compelled to share it. While picking up an online order, I was treated rudely and unprofessionally by an employee who I believe was named Cynthia. From the moment I approached her, she had a dismissive attitude and was extremely unhelpful. I tried to ask a simple question about my order, and instead of offering assistance, she acted annoyed and gave me a bad look. It was clear that she had no interest in helping me, and she seemed to go out of her way to make the process more difficult. I understand that people can have bad days, but that’s no excuse for treating customers like they’re a burden. This was a completely unacceptable experience, and I’m incredibly disappointed in how I was treated. I’ve always had positive experiences at Target, but after today, I’ll be thinking twice before returning if employees like Cynthia are going to make me feel so unwelcome.

Staffed by some of rudest staff members I swear! I was struggling with the self check out and went to regular check out, I took a shortcut since there was no one on line and I was carrying two bulky boxes of diapers and other knickknacks. The one staff member who was working the cash register looked at me and gave me a stank face and was like “the line starts over there, I’ll be taking people starting with her” she then pointed to a lady who had just started walking down the aisle. Amazing! ?. I went back to self checkout and scanned my diapers, and even though they were both from clearance they were showing up different prices; I flagged down another staff member and this person just goes yeah this one’s not on sale and takes it away, doesn’t even try to listen to me when I say they were in the same clearance section. Spectacular! ? Will definitely steer clear of this location.

Very chaotic, crowded (my fault? Visited on a Saturday) You would think for Upper East Side, it would be a pleasant experience, but it was a mad house. So stressful. Went for Friskues cat food. Best prices compared to CVS. Second target and pet items in basement floor which is a pain to navigate. No staff were helpful for directions. Only Target I like & will go back to is Kips Bay. 2nd unpleasant experience with this store in UES.

I've been disappointed with the ongoing maintenance issues at this location. One freezer has been out of order for over six months, and the refrigeration units seem unreliable—it's hard to know from day to day which ones will be functioning properly. Basic items like nuts, salads, and cheese are frequently out of stock. While the staff aren't impolite, they lack the helpfulness and engagement you'd expect from a retail team. The overall impression is one of indifference. It's surprising that Target corporate allows these management and operational standards to persist at this store.

I have called various Targets around NYC and they never answer the phone. So basically terrible customer service
Oct 13, 2025 -
I love this particular Target. I had questions about certain items. The young man was so gracious to direct where the items was . To me the service great.
Jul 21, 2025 -
This target is always a fun time. Between the holiday themed decorations and the vastness o the shelves, I could spend minutes, even hours, even days, maybe even weeks in here. I have so much fun here and it is a must visit!
Jul 17, 2025 -
Since moving into Manhattan, I’ve become a great fan of Target for many reasons. They happen to have the lowest prices on fresh fruits and vegetables as well as yogurt and other dairy products. If you’re looking for the least expensive ice cream sandwiches that come in large boxes for ridiculously low prices, check out their freezer department! I just ordered Utz pretzel Rods, which I couldn’t find anywhere so I pucked them up at their East 86th Street location. I was impressed with the efficiency of picking up my pretzels as well as learning that they have a Baby Registry!

This as all Target stores is great: a) convenient with daily items.at low prices, and generous refund policy; b) giving great opportunities to minority young people and possibly saving them from crimes; c) as maybe the only one do utmost for NY recycling, their machines work and homeless people thank to them are able to deposit empty containers and thus survive; Suggestions for improving: a) the store should sell as it did in the past simple photo cameras that they are now much in demand; b) E86 basement floor needs to be upgraded, the current appearance is below any 3rd world country. Service received was horrible! From rep to manager, wanted to exchange something under 10$, a target brand tank top I bought a week before and lost my receipt, wanted to pick up items worth 23$. Demeaning and acted like they are doing me the biggest favor in the world for taking my id in exchange. Def not what I would expect and not a pleasant experience.

I was pleasantly surprised by this Target location in NYC. Despite being in the city, it felt surprisingly spacious and well-organized, with plenty of stock on hand. I was able to find everything I needed (and more!) without feeling cramped or overwhelmed. What makes this Target even better is its location – it’s close to Ulta, Lululemon, Levain Bakery, and Victoria’s Secret, so there’s plenty to do nearby. Perfect for a little shopping spree or a fun day out. Definitely a great spot to shop in NYC if you want convenience without sacrificing quality. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Apr 20, 2025 -
Why is it that every time I come to this Target I am totally disappointed that the never have mens socks, tshirts or underwear? And I mean, every time!
Jan 24, 2025 -
Very clean and well arranged. Its not a big location, so not much of variety, but you can find almost anything you might need to a city life
Sep 08, 2024 -
All target stores racially profile ethnic customers. I even asked an African American manager if she knew that a Caucasian woman was opening up (and using) products on the shelves while they were spying on me, and she had the gall to tell me, "I know. " That is why 98% of the time, I order my items online for pick up, but even then, security still watches you as though you stole something, even though they just watched you pick it up with the email and barcode. Target corporate knows all of this. It's their policies that the majority of their employees are enacting. The remaining handful of employees are just racist- as their culture teaches them to be. I urge everyone to just order online and pick it up. It helps to quell any overwhelming feelings of embarrassment or discomfort. And, honestly, I think Target prefers it that way. They don't like ethnic people. They just love our money.

good variety across category. they should bring in a perfume section and the tech section should have more products

Great prices on food, cleaning materials and white claws!!! Make sure to go downstairs, they also have restrooms down there. They also have a pharmacy
Jan 24, 2023 -
This is one of the larger locations. It is a little hectic during rush hour but the self checkout line moves fast.
Dec 13, 2022 -
Okay, we’ll I stopped by this location earlier this afternoon (9/10/22) and let me share my experience: Pros- the staff on the floor in the areas of beauty and hygiene essential (first floor areas) were so helpful and nice. I was able to get majority of the items I needed with their help… Now the cons: the store looked a bit disorganized and it’s was fairly around 1pm. The shelves were pretty empty for a Saturday but there was also a lot of people shopping so I can’t fault the staff for that. That wasn’t really my issue or concern. The biggest problem for me is when I self checked out. I forgot how to access my scan code and the sales associate (his initials were JC) and he was so rude to me. Maybe he was just having an overwhelming day. He looked at me as if I’m bothering him to ask him or if I asked him an inappropriate request. All I wanted was his assistance to remind me where the barcode was for the target app because I usually just order my items online. He was standing in that self check out area to assist customers if I’m not mistaken so when he gave me such a nasty look I was going to leave all of the stuff right at the register but I needed the items today so I just overlooked his nasty attitude and proceeded to check out. Also, on the way out the security guard at the top of the stairs ups was having the most inappropriate conversation on the phone (it looked like a work phone so I’m not sure if it was personal or with the workers downstairs.) All I know is that it was inappropriate and very loud. I truly have no desire to visit this location again because it was not a pleasant experience at all. I was so shocked because 86th street is such a prestigious area. Many of us (New Yorker’s) from all over the city come to shop on 86th and Lexington because the customer service and experience is usually very good and welcoming. I also use my online presence to highlight areas like 86th street in my blogs/blogs so to be treated so rudely I’m disappointed. The trash can by the shopping carts was filled to the top with snd disgustingly spilling out of the top. It was an “off” experience and hopefully next time it will be better.

I visited the Target on E. 86th. I thought the layout was kinda different. The clothes and food are at the bottom level. While the cosmetics, candy, housewares on the upper level. This place took over the Barnes and Noble that was previously at this site. I liked the prices so far and was able to find everything I needed. I will definitely return to this Target. We needed a Target in this neighborhood and im glad to see them here. This Target is located at 150 East 86th Street New York City 10028

Shout out to Eileen and Paulina at the UES 86th/Lex @Target Store for providing outstanding customer service always. I am so happy to see them every time I shop. They are so helpful and fun. Thank you!
Jan 30, 2022 -
I visited this store at the beginning of the month. It is located where the old Barnes & Noble store was located. This location is accessible as there are escalators and elevators. There is even an escalator for the carts so you don’t have to wait for the elevators if you don’t want to. This is one of the larger locations as they have clothing for men, women, children, and babies), household items, food items, CVS Pharmacy, etc. There is a self-check out area that you can also pay cash with and a regular check out with employees and registers. This location is accessible via public transportation. I will be returning to this location.
