What clients say about The Lowell Hotel in New York (NY)
-
This was our first time staying at the Lowell hotel and we had such a wonderful weekend there. We booked a room with a fireplace for Thanksgiving weekend and it could not have been a cozier situation. The service was premium and I absolutely love that you can have someone start your wood burning fireplace at any time of day or night. Going to sleep next to a crackling fire on a cold night in NYC is absolutely the best. We loved the downstairs bar and breakfast in the morning was top notch. I’m sure this hotel is equally fabulous in the warmer months but I highly recommend it for the fall/winter season.

The Dior afternoon tea was fabulous lovely ambiance and decor. Food was great.

Serenity in the city. Elegant rooms, discreet service, and a rare sense of calm above the noise. The Lowell remains quietly flawless.
Nov 08, 2025 -
My wife and I visited The Lowell Hotel in Upper East Manhattan to celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary, and the Lily of the Valley Afternoon Tea, a collaboration between The Lowell and Dior Maison by the Majorelle team, was truly unforgettable. We’ve experienced several popular afternoon teas in the city, but this one stood out in every way. The presentation, food, and tea were all exquisite, and the floral arrangements were absolutely stunning—fitting, since my wife is a florist and a longtime admirer of Dior. What truly set this experience apart was the hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed and cared for. Jessica, the hostess, went above and beyond by graciously accommodating a last-minute change to our reservation and later stopping by our table to make sure everything was perfect. We had a lovely chat with her about how genuine hospitality can elevate an experience, and this afternoon was the perfect example of that. Fabio, our server, was also wonderful—attentive, kind, and professional throughout. Everything was perfect from start to finish. It was elegant, intimate, and deeply memorable—an afternoon that beautifully blended art, floristry, and timeless luxury. I’m so glad we chose to celebrate here.

Great, cute, vintage hotel in a good location. They had really good food and service

Fantastic! Absolutely love this hotel. Staff is amazing, food is impeccable. Bed is sooo comfy. 10/10 recommend!

Can not align with any of the positive reviews. While the bath rooms were clean, same can not be said about the bed room. A simple swipe over the books on the bed side tables would expose and amount of dust that is simply unacceptable. Mattresses are overly worn. TV/Media System outdated to a degree, it makes you feel like staying at a 2* hotel. On another occasion our Whole Foods groceries (mostly full water bottles) were apparently mistakenly deemed trash and removed. In room dining was above and beyond disappointing. On a positive note - the front desk staff was amazing and so was the concierge. Expressed my concerns directly to Amex Fine Hotels and Resorts, was promised to receive an E-Mail by Patricia, the manager, to address concerns and have never received anything. Overall a disappointing experience, especially with so many wonderful alternatives in the city.

When it’s time to celebrate that special milestone birthday, The Lowell Hotel is truly an excellent choice! If you’re looking for more than just a place to stay—if you desire an experience that seamlessly combines casual luxury with exceptional service—this is the ideal destination for you! Consider it your New York getaway, your new home away from home, and a wonderful setting for creating cherished memories. Here’s to a place that captures your heart and stays with you for a lifetime!

Did not stay at the Lowell, but had drinks at Majorelle. Drinks were amazing, bar was beautiful!

LILY OF THE VALLEY REVIEW ONLY. Came here Saturday for their Lily of the Valley Afternoon Tea in collaboration with Dior Maison. We got seated in the enclosed outdoor patio—cute decor but the area was a bit narrow and we felt a bit squished. Some chairs had a Christian Dior pillow but not all. Not really any “Dior” decor overall. My friends and I got the “Lily of the Valley” package—presentation was cute. The savory items were decent and there sweet pastries were okay. The Green Tea Nuit a Versailles was pretty good! For extra charge, they offered a selection of cake and cookies (Dior Bar Jacket cookies, Pink Cake, Madeleines)—the overall look for these items was disappointing, poorly decorated. However, service here was excellent, A+. Staff were quite friendly and helpful.

The Lowell has a collaborative arrangement with CHRISTIAN DIOR. In other words where class meets elegance. It was a birthday celebration and it could not have been a better surprise or gift. The Lowell is a special gift to NYC. With all the hustle and bustle going on outside, one can easily escape the urban roar by taking just a few steps into the Lowell where you are greeted with charm and grace. It was simply Wonderful.

It's my third stay since discovering the Lowell...its beautiful, elegant, calm...but the graciousness of the staff from the doormen to everyone else I've encountered is what makes me want this to be my home away from home when I'm in New York...it also has a sophisticated European vibe...and the room service menu is perfect.

Absolutely fantastic. I stayed for two days for a business trip and meetings at Javits Center. I always stay at the finest hotels when traveling to NYC (which I will not name), but this hotel has a different “VIBE “ for sure. I could comfortably stay there for a month. The location is very central.

Our recent four-day stay at The Lowell Hotel in New York was truly unforgettable, and it's all thanks to the exceptional staff and outstanding service. From the moment we arrived, the experience was first-class. Patricia and her team went above and beyond by surprising us with a lovely birthday cake and a warm welcome amenity, making our celebration incredibly special. Shawn, the bellman, as well as the rest of the staff, provided top-notch service throughout our stay. The concierge was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, making fantastic recommendations and ensuring that all our plans were perfectly arranged. The doormen were always friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home each time we returned to the hotel. Our reservation process was smooth and efficient, setting the tone for the seamless experience that followed. The rooms were beautifully appointed, combining classic elegance with modern comforts. Housekeeping kept everything spotless, and the attention to detail was evident in every aspect of our stay. Telephone services were prompt and courteous, ensuring that any requests we had were quickly addressed. The Lowell’s prime location in New York made it easy to explore the city, and the food, both in-room and at the hotel’s dining establishments, was simply outstanding. One small suggestion: it would be great to have a Nespresso machine in the room, along with replenished creamer for coffee, to enhance the in-room experience even further. What truly sets The Lowell apart, however, is the staff. Their kindness, friendliness, and professionalism are what make this hotel shine. We look forward to returning to The Lowell for another remarkable stay.

Love this Hotel!!!! Great location off of Madison and still super close to everything. Pure class from start to finish and yet with a very comfortable boutique feeling. The rooms and staff are beyond compare and after a busy day in the city, it is such a welcome return. Special mention to Patricia Taharally, the Director of guest relations. Upon check-in, there was a small hiccup which she went above and beyond to resolve quickly. Polina and Harris at the front desk were always professional and welcoming and we love the intimate little bar. Alex and Margarita did a fantastic job there, and we even took advantage of the sidewalk tables as well. The breakfast crew in the Pembroke Room were fantastic, which added a great start to the day. And don’t overlook the Club Room, a great little intimate place to have a coffee or a bottle of champagne and relax. We stayed for several days, then ventured out of the city for five days and then returned to the hotel for another two days, and looking to return in the fall!

Everything PERFECT! Service 10/10, room 10/10, location 10/10. The perfect hotel to enjoy the NYC experience. Ps: they gave to me delicious cake, champagne 🍾 beautiful surprise and amazing workers!

We were a bit disappointed by our New Year’s Eve stay at the Lowell. The hotel is gorgeous and the room was beautiful and clean, no complaints there. We loved the wood burning fireplace, that was very special. There were also some nice touches like welcome champagne and wine. That said, there were also some things that felt like we were being nickel and dimed at every turn. For example there’s a 35 dollar fee for someone to come help start a fire in the room (there’s no option to do it yourself for safety reasons). That in itself is pretty absurd and not anything I’ve encountered at other luxury hotels with in room fireplaces, but fine. We went out for about an hour and the fire was left untended so it of course died out. We called to ask if they could restart it with the wood we had purchased. Someone came up to help. We found out when looking over the bill that they charged us a SECOND 35 dollar fireplace fee for having someone restart it, which feels obnoxious when the rooms themselves are very expensive and it’s a feature of the room, plus in theory we already paid for the wood with the first fee. There were also little things like they came for turn down service at literally 5 pm when we were relaxing by the 70 dollar fire and when we said we weren’t ready right then they never came back. Not a big deal but a 5 pm turn down service or bust is not expected from a luxury hotel. We also were charged a 200 dollar pet fee which we weren’t aware of (maybe it’s hidden somewhere on the website and we missed it) and there was no bed or food bowls or anything in the room for our dog, even though we had mentioned a couple times he was coming. Again, not a huge deal, but for hotels at this price point who charge a high pet fee there is usually some gesture done to show the room was made “dog friendly”. Finally, when we got our folio there were a number of added fees (which happens with nyc hotels) but one random extra 200 dollar charge which there was no explanation for. Overall, it’s a beautiful hotel, the service is mostly friendly, and the rooms/fireplaces really are special but I found the level of nickle and diming outside of the realm of normal for this type of “5 star” experience, and it really detracted from our enjoyment of the stay.

Wonderful experience with a terrific staff located in a great location on the East Side which was both quiet yet close to Central Park and Madison Avenue. The two restaurants were superb. Our suite had a fireplace, facing 63rd street, a little tight for size. The staff did everything possible to make our stay incredible.

The high tea at the Pembroke room was lovely, the sandwishes and scones were quite tasty. The one negative is they leave the same tea leaves steeping in a big pot so your tea gets more and more bitter, and instead of getting you new leaves when you want a refill like at other tea houses I've been to , they just add hot water. So the tea only tastes amazing if you have it during the first 10min.

The Lowell Hotel in New York stands out not merely for its luxury, but for its unparalleled personal attention. From the warm welcome at the door to the staff's uncanny ability to anticipate your needs, every detail is tended to with utmost care. The rooms are an elegant blend of comfort and style, providing a peaceful retreat in the city. The dining experience is delightful, and the location is ideal. But it's the personal touch that truly sets The Lowell apart. If you seek a place where sophistication meets attentive service, look no further.

Quiet, civilized, beautiful. Professional but warm service; expert preparation of classic cocktails; a nice selection of nibbles to keep the cocktails from overwhelming you. The people-watching is peak Upper East.

I’ve stayed at The Lowell many times, and I’m never disappointed. The staff is courteous, efficient, and most accommodating. Having the concierges procure my Broadway tickets, make restaurant reservations, and tend to my every wish is the reason I come back year after year to The Lowell. The impeccable, beautifully decorated rooms are ample sized, and I love the marble bathrooms filled with nice toiletries. The restaurants offer delicious menu items. The Lowell is situated in the most desired section of New York City along a quiet street near Park and Madison. #1 hotel in NYC!

Everyone here greets you and is genuine and very helpful. The location is perfect. The rooms are tiny or ours was #7C We had two twin beds and a bathroom with one sink. No room for luggage storage but they were very helpful and took our luggage and stored it. The breakfast was set in the most pleasant room and was perfection. The wait staff were very attentive and there was lots of hot coffee. The hotel is located on 63rd Street just off the corner of Madison, and given the location it was very quiet outside. Our air conditioner re-set all night, this would need to be adjusted first before another stay. The were most helpful -- that is what stands out at this hotel is the service.

Room was several hour late, but they gave us free drinks in the bar and they were friendly. Rooms didn’t have USB charging ports and they were not new, but the rooms were very well maintained. We got welcome amenities (which we later noticed were supposed to be for another guest). Staff were very nice. Breakfast was intimate (read: small) and slow, but had a nice atmosphere and the food was good. This is NY and it is expensive, but for the same price you get a brand new room at the Four Seasons a few blocks away (service was much better and more personal than the Four Seasons). The room had a tiny kitchen with a large fridge and in the bathroom we had bathtub with a TV which was pretty cool. Overall very happy and had the room been ready as promised I would have rated this five stars.

We went for the afternoon tea and were underwhelmed. At one of the highest price points we've paid, it was our least favorite tea to date. Our waiter was lovely, but the food was bland and boring. They only gave us one scone each, and one set of jams and cream for 4 people. Altogether I left full, but I was surprised by how little was served. Although the tea was refilled without needing to ask, and was placed on heaters to keep it warm. The dining room is so cozy and small, it all feels very intimate. But I would never return or reccomend.

My bf took me to the clubroom because i love flowers, it was smelling so wonderful, we stayed the night because flowers are everywhere , all flowers are real, the ones in the room also real, staff was great, it was such an elegant date idea. ❤️great experience. So romantic. It was the best date idea:)

Location is excellent, service impeccable and lovely rooms but something is stopping me from giving it a 5 star. They seem to be having lots of problem with their elevators. I had to take the service elevator a few times in my 4-day stay. They also don’t provide body lotion, nail file, toothbrush and toothpaste like other top hotels. I purposely did not bring because I thought its normally given in 5 star hotel rooms. A visit to the pharmacy was the first order of the day. Another issue is that the air-conditoner is noisy.
May 06, 2018 -
Service is impeccable! Atmosphere is quaint, but lavish. I would give 5 stars, but the mattresses are awful! For the per night rate this boutique hotel charges, better mattresses are a must! The two twin beds in my room were squeaky and very uncomfortable. I expected a comfortable pillow top high-end mattress, at the very least. I woke up with a sore back each day. I did not complain to the hotel management only because if both mattresses in my room are not up to par, I doubt a different room would've made a difference. In my opinion, those mattresses had no business being in that caliber of hotel - period, regardless if it were in my particular hotel room or not.
