My designer coat was big in the waist (wayy bigger than the photo) and needed it tailored. I did some research and found DejaVu! Very happy I did and was able to trust his work. Now it has a nice silhouette. He had my coat ready in a matter of a week. Thanks again DejaVu!

Kai is an absolute magician. Every item I brought now fits like a dream and his work was immaculate - every stitch, every seam looked perfect. I brought in two Zimmerman dresses; a silk Shanghai Tang dress; a Bec & Bridge gown; knit Missoni pants; Brunello Cucinelli pants; and a Balenciaga top. I would trust this man with any of my high end pieces. Could not be happier, could not be more impressed. Pricing was reasonable, timeline was quick, and fitting process was comfortable and professional. Will 100% be coming back with all my future tailoring.

Kai is the best. I’ve now come to him twice with two creative concepts that he executed exactly how we discussed. The first time was for the purple dress. Originally it had fabric across the top that when across the arms for an off the shoulder look and the torso was much longer. Kai removed the off the shoulder fabric, added straps, and shortened the torso. The second time was for these leopard pants. I wanted to make them more of a straight/wider leg (they were originally a skinny jean). He added paneling to the sides to make it a fun modern look. It is hard to find a good tailor but it is harder to find someone creative and open to as Kai would say, a project runway type of design. I can’t wait to come back with another concept for Kai to help me execute!

Kai was amazing!!! He completely transformed this dress that I purchased 3 sizes larger than my own into the PERFECT GOWN! So easy to schedule and coordinate with as well. Will definitely be back for all of my tailoring needs!

Kai is a miracle worker!! Leaving my first google review ever - I’m so amazed at his work! My dress got stuck in the back wheel/break of a bike. It looked like it was mauled by a bear. I honestly didn’t think it could be fixed and it was a limited edition drop so I couldn’t buy another of it. I asked Kai if we could fold in the back panels of the dress and if possible, not to shorten the dress at all. I wanted to keep the maxi length of the dress. After a week, I picked up the dress and it was perfect! It looks the exact same as when I first bought it. The dress is still flowy at the ends and I’m so happy at how the alteration turned out. Thank you so much Kai!

Thank you Kai for your excellent work on my black tie gown! I needed some alterations done for a wedding and Kai did a fantastic job adjusting the hem, tightening the waist, shortening the straps, and even fixing the zipper. He made sure every detail fit perfectly and the results turned out beautifully! I highly recommend Deja Vu Tailoring and will definitely be coming back for future alterations.

Kai is amazing! I brought him 5 jeans and 4 dresses, all needed to be taken in or shortened. He listened to what I was thinking and had excellent input when I wasn't sure. Everything was pinned and measured so quickly. I was able to pick up in less than 2 weeks and it was such great quality and fit perfectly. Will be going back.

Kai is excellent at his craft and quite speedy! I needed very last minute alterations of my wedding reception dress just 7 days before my wedding. Took it in on a Friday evening and he was able to take in the waist and hem it by Tuesday morning. Did not need a second fitting. It was perfect. His prices are reasonable and he even gave me a slight discount on the rush fee. Would highly recommend and will be taking more items to him in the near future. Note it’s in WeWorks

I came to Kai with a difficult to tailor dress in a short time frame and he did such an amazing job. The dress had tons of beading but needed to be pulled in at the waist. The dress now fits perfectly. He is so personable and professional also - a very pleasant experience from beginning to end.

I cannot recommend Dejavu Tailoring & Kai enough! I was very worried getting such intricate Indian pieces altered, but I was SO happy with the results. I had two separate pieces altered. The top needed to be taken in and hoisted up from the collar. Kai assured me that the beaded work would remain in tact and I was so happy with how clean the results were! No major adjustment alterations were needed for the lehenga skirt but Kai offered great consultation on removing some of the can-can netting from underneath the skirt to make it lighter which he ended up removing very cleanly. Overall the work was done at a very high quality and extremely fast. If you need to get your high quality, detailed or expensive pieces altered without worrying, this is the place to go!

Kai did an amazing job with my bridesmaid dress!!!! The original dress was way too long and the bust was too large. He was able to fix both issues in a quick amount of time and now the dress fits really really nicely! Super happy about how it turned out and will definitely be coming back for future tailoring! :))))

Kai is the absolute best there is - his talent is undeniable, customer service superior! & a quick turn around too. I had to resize a vintage gown - which he tailored to perfection, fine-tuning the fit in ways I knew not possible! Also brought in an antique 60s gown that required some TLC - since it’s so delicate I worried about just any ole tailor taking a stab at it. But with Kai? No reason to fear! Got my Indian Wedding top tailored here. I am so so happy with the work!! This was a very hard top to tailor because of all the hand embroidery but they did a fantastic job! And I requested to get it sooner and they got the job done so quickly! I highly recommend Kai at dejavu

Had a great experience with Kai at DejaVu! Brought in a pair of jeans to get tailored and he knew exactly what I wanted and needed. The appointment was easy to setup and once I arrived he was quick with the assessment and payment was easy. Pickup was also streamlined! Highly recommend for any of your tailoring needs and will be visiting again for anything in the future!

Kai was friendly and did a good job shortening the sleeves on my leather jacket. He was kind to keep the snap cuffs as an essential feature. Took about 9 days. I didnt get a chance to alter anything else but I would trust Dejavu again with my leather. Location is inside WeWork, floor 8, so got the chance to sit in some chairs and people watch.

Kai has consistently done a fantastic job with my clothing alterations at a very reasonable price, especially for Midtown NYC. He’s responsive, meticulous, and flexible—even able to add length back to pants when needed. Most recently, I brought him a rare vest that’s impossible to replace, and despite the complexity of the construction and fabrics, he skillfully increased the armhole size while preserving the original look. You’d never know it was altered. He was honest about what was possible and executed it perfectly. I also had two pairs of pants hemmed—one with a blind hem that blended beautifully with a tricky checkered pattern, and another with a regular hem, both done with care and precision. He even left enough seam allowance in case I need future adjustments. Turnaround time was quicker than expected, and I wouldn’t hesitate to trust him with beloved garments again. Highly recommend.

I’ve been living in NYC for about 9 years now, and have been getting my pants altered at a lot of places. Kai is the best! Not only was he able to make these joggers fit perfectly, but was able to do it while keeping the zipper as well! Joggers look like they are right off the shelf. If you are looking for a tailor for ANY of your clothes and don’t think that anybody will be able to do it……..take them to Kai! Great work and super fast turnaround as well! Found my go to tailor here in the city!

Kai did a superb job on three of my pants (2 jeans and one pair of dress pants). He was able to keep the original hem in both jeans. The dress pants I had to get slightly tapered and they look great now. Turn around was quick and price was very fair. Really great job overall and very convenient that they are open late. Highly recommend Kai.

Kai did a wonderful job tailoring two dresses for me!! Was quick and did a quality job taking in and hemming both garments. One was a bridesmaid dress with a rouging on the side that made it a bit more difficult to tailor and Kai did it seamlessly without any issue. Excellent Service!!! I came with pair of pants that needed hemming and a dress that needed adjustments to the straps and some subtle taking in. Kai did a wonderful job with both pieces! The finished hem of my pants looked like it had never been altered, and the dress fit beautifully while still allowing for a comfortable range of motion. Prices were very fair and he threw in a zipper on the dress for free. He was very cordial and attentive throughout my entire fitting, and I felt so welcomed and listened to. As much as I want to gatekeep him, he deserves all the business he can get, hence this review. I will definitely be coming back!

I’ve been looking for a tailor and I came across dejavu, so I decided to give it a try. Kai offered to take in the waist too, which wasn’t something I even considered. I decided to go for it because I’ve never had jeans that DIDN’T gap around my waist. He told me they’d be ready in 3-5 business days (they were ready sooner than that). I picked them up today, and I am one happy customer!!! These jeans look like they were made for me! The hemming and stitching is so well done, they look like I bought them this way. These jeans fit me soooo good! Worth every penny! I can’t wait to get the rest of my clothes tailored. The location is also great! I work close by and I’ve been able to do all this on my lunch break. Cannot recommend enough!!

This was my first time ever going to a tailor in NYC. I’ve had this vintage Tripp corset that I haven’t been able to wear in years due to the zipper being broken on the back. Kai was able to easily fix the zipper and make the corset look brand new! Kai is super talented and replaced it with a durable zipper to prevent it from breaking again. Easy to book an appointment and my top was ready very fast. I’m finally able to wear one of my favorite tops again for the first time in years!

I was doing a quick Yelp & Google search for a tailor to hem 3 pairs of pants, and I found Dejavu Tailoring! I was initially very intrigued by the $5 basic hemming deal they always run, so I booked an appointment and headed uptown to the Wework that Kai's studio is located in. He's super nice & personable, and made me feel very comfortable the entire time. My pants needed a little more finesse than basic hemming, so they ended up being a bit more for more complex stitching, which is still very very good price-wise especially for Midtown! My stuff was ready less than a week later and the quality of the stitching was impeccable. Lines were super straight and neat, and the threads matched my clothes perfectly! I'd definitely come back to Kai to get more tailoring done and he also has really cool custom jackets if you're in the market for some really stylish leather cold-weather outerwear!
