It's an nyc subway stop. Nothing special. The connected j train chambers st station looks like a Roman ruin
Jan 24, 2024 -
It's a huge station that sadly is underused. There is an atmosphere of faded magnificence.
Nov 07, 2023 -
It's beautiful place to visit you could see Brooklyn bridge and all of City Hall.
Nov 02, 2023 -
A large train station that is suitable for those who want to get to the Brooklyn Bridge, but probably more for locals who need to get to the shopping area. Either way, a train station that does nothing more than move from one place to another.
Dec 21, 2022 -
LOVED this place! It is a easy walk from Brooklyn to NYC, and there are really easy accesses to the metro in the nearby. The views are gorgeous! Everbody should do this walk!
Oct 14, 2022 -
Great place to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Anyone can enjoy walking or bicycling across the bridge.
Sep 18, 2022 -
This is so convenient from 125 Worth Street to the train station for 4 or 5 train and we did took the cab before and the driver drop us off in the wrong location and we were lost. Subways save our lives and taxi are very expensive. I want to move back to Manhattan again in the future and super convenient then Staten Island.

It was my first time visiting the Brooklyn Bridge, it was crowded by people but that didn't diminish the great experience I had. I recommend visiting this iconic place, keep it clean and I believe it is forbidden to put locks on the fences of the bridge.

Wow! Built in 1909. And without the modern tools we take for granted. It must have been backbreaking. Beautiful building. Hollow on the inside. The 4 and 6 trains run beneath it. They just don't make buildings like this anymore. This spot is also convenient to go anywhere. World Trade is about 5 or 6 blocks from and so is Chinatown and Little Italy.

If you take the six train past this station it loops back around next to an old abandoned station that looks beautiful
Jun 09, 2021 -
City Hall Loop, opened in 1904, was once a lavish terminal station that served around 600 passengers a day. Passenger travel through this station was discontinued after 40 years of operation due to the dramatic increase in New York’s population. Today, you can only visit the station during very specific times of the year. It used to be a popular destination where locals and travelers could look at the intricate designs of the past, but it closed due to security reasons in the mid-20th century.

This bridge is awesome! Would defo recommend the walk across it for some beautiful views of NYC.
Mar 03, 2021 -
Well, it's a bridge. You can walk on it, drive on it, take photos, buy memorabilia, smoke a cigarette, eat something, look around, look at the view. Pretty much basic things. But you do it on a bridge. So it's a bridge. A long one too. I think. Not sure about that. Let me check Wikipedia.

Should have handicap accessible if people want tostrol over the bridge. Like the lights inside the tunnel when train 6 exchanged from north to south. Also the exchange point from 6 to 4 or 5 is right across the tracks

Typical subway station in terms of amenities, datedness, and tidiness. The location is really convenient if you're visiting Brooklyn Bridge (1-min. walk), Wall Street or World Trade Center (10-15 min walk). And if you're also visiting Grand Central Terminal, you can take the 4 or 5 express train here, with the ride taking at least 15 mins. The 6 train ends here but legend has it that you can stay on as the train loops back to its uptown route, and you'll get a glimpse of the beautifully decorated and abandoned City Hall station. It looks like a lot of people have done this without consequences, although I read that the MTA could fine you upwards of $50 if you get caught. If you want to do a proper tour, you can check the New York Transit Museum for tickets, which are generally hard to come by since they don't do the tours often and tickets sell out fast.

As it’s name implies, you can stop here to get to the Brooklyn Bridge and City Hall. As well, all 6-Line trains terminate here, and turn around to begin their journey in the other direction. But what most people don’t know, is that if you stay on the 6 train as it loops around, the track passes by the old, abandoned City Hall station. It’s fascinating to see, with the lights from the train barely illuminating the old platform, and the stairs receding up into City Hall allow some light from upstairs to shine in, but not much. Super fun to see, but not so great for photos.

I highly recommend staying on the 6 train after it stops to ride around and see the abandoned, but pristine, old city hall stop. Don't worry about getting stuck on the train. It is only turning around, and you can get off at the station on the northbound side of the tracks.

This is a fancy looking building to exit it from the subway. Shame the line below is not as grand. Functional but nothing special. Needs better signage for the exits and some maintenance on the beautiful tiles that have seen better days (years ago)

This station is one of my favorite memories of my trip to NYC. When you come up the stairs, it's just a TON of hustle and bustle. There was a nice crowd in the park and performers doing all kinds of acts. The choices of things to do and directions to head is a bit overwhelming, but those stairs were the very first step in my trek to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. Be prepared if you're going to make that trip - if the weather is nice, there are going to be a LOT of people taking that walk. Back to the review at hand, this station has a lot of access to lines that can get you just about anywhere you need to go. Just make sure you download the app so you can know which train to take. I ended up going the wrong way a few times before I found the app!

Reasonably clean and convenient location near Brooklyn Bridge. The free wifi is an added bonus at all Subway stations.

last stop of line 6.. You should get off here and enjoy the.world outside many.attraction can be found on foot. Local peoples are playing music good street food available.

If you get on a terminating 6 train, stay on it. Why? You'll find the beautiful and historical City Hall. Which I believe closed in the 20s. After you pass it the 6 train will reemerge on the uptown platform. The new station is Beautiful. I like the steel cables around the City hall entrance, But you should mind the gap as you enter and exit the train. The station is a little bent.
Jun 24, 2017 -
There is an Hiden station (old one) if you take the end of the line 6 its really nice to see it. Just stay in the metro and you will see it when it will change from down to uptown. Don't be afraid that all passengers leave
Jan 02, 2017 -
Much better than the J/Z part of the station. This station is wheelchair accessible, has cellular service, and free Wi-Fi. There's also departure boards that tell you when trains are coming. If you stay on a downtown 6 train after it terminates here for a moment, you can get a glimpse of the abandoned city Hall station.

This review is for the closed City Hall subway station, which you can tour if you are a member of the New York Transit Museum, NYTM. Take the tour! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable of the history of the area and was passionate about architecture - this really added to the tour. My only issue with it is that NYTM does not tell you upfront that audio equipment is used for the tour (I have some difficulty with certain types of sound, though I am not deaf. There were definitely parts of the tour where it was much better for me to turn off the audio transmitter and get close enough to the guide to be able to hear him/read his lips). The station, while in disrepair from 70 years of disuse, really is worth seeing and photographing.
