That’s what happened to us. We came back on time and were welcomed by a staff member who took our bike away. Still a few hours later we got a call saying we never returned it just because we didn’t come back at the main desk to checkout. It may be obvious to some but I think a lot of people like us would assume that simply returning the bike to a staff member is enough. Anyway it’s all solved now.
Apart from that it’s super cool to do, keep up the good work and continue to develop that great island that has tremendous potential!!
The quality of the bikes is amazing and the helmets are washed every day. Also the staff are really nice and helpful. Great way to explore Gov. Island!
That was one of the best experiences I’ve had in New York. This place is an absolute gem and I hope it continues to be a fortress of solitude and solace for all of New York. I had an amazing bike ride, Smiley helped me out. She was fantastic. Absolutely loved biking around.

We rented pedal cars for a family of 4 and had a blast. Great way to explore the island. The views were amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. The manager was also a pleasure to interact with. I had an issue with one of the bikes and she addressed it well.
I highly recommend!
Visited this week and hired a kids GoKart and a 2 seater Surrey.
Once you get off the ferry, turn right and follow the road along. There are maps also.
Arrived at 9.20am, it was dead quiet, got sorted, and was told if we were a minute late back, we would be charged for an extra 30 mins, which I thought was a bit steep!
The clock started once checked in but then needed to sort and fit a helmet which was all part of our clock ticking which was a bit harsh considering we were probably their first customers and we had a child with us.
Anyway, apart from that bit, all was good. We loved exploring Governors Island and would highly recommend it.
No cars and stunning views! A great start to our trip.
Please note there is aircon and drinks plus toilets at the visitors by the ferry on the island.
Good selection. Not just 2 wheel bikes. Get a multi passenger bike big enough for 2 adults to peddle and kids on the back with an awning for shade. Great views of the city! Great way to get around the park and prices are not bad at all
Great experience! Staff were enthusiastic and incredibly friendly and welcoming. We rented a Surrey bike and they showed us how to use it and where to ride. It was nice riding around the island near the water. Staff answered my email right away when I had a question. Highly recommend. Great service.
This place SAVED my partner's birthday shootout to BRYAN for being the sweetest person and making my partner feel so much better after a disaster at the spa near by. Bryan was so sweet and funny and truly turned our day around. If it's possible to give that man a raise please do because he is the best!
The workers were very easy people to conduct business with. Bikes were in great condition. We had a nice time riding our bikes all around the island until it was time to return them. No complaints here, and we will do this all over again when we return.
Great experience. Bikes have pedals, wheels(full of air), a comfortable cushioned seat, a bell, it has 3 speeds, and a hand brake. You can also get a bike lock. I got a 10 second training class. Very comfortable ride.
Governors Island has very nice bike trails. You will enjoy. Warning: there are some steep hills & it can get very windy.
The long line for bicycles moved fast, and we were able to get bicycles for everyone. It was great fun exploring the island on bicycles. The employees were kind and gave us a bandaid for one of my kids, who scraped her palm.
Smiley helped me get on a beach cruiser to tour the island. She was so kind and made sure both the beach cruiser and helmet were a good fit for my 6'0" body and giant head. :) A great deal and the perfect way to see the island!
We rented a bike here and were really happy about the service. The gentleman helping us was very kind, knowledgeable and helpful.
We thought this was extremely good value for money (we rented a four seater bike) and would highly recommend this as it was super easy to travel around the Island with it.
We would definitely do it again !
Been going to this place for years, and will continue to do so every year. It’s a great trip and activity to do with your workers, family or friends. The staff is extremely helpful and nice which made everything go smoothly for myself and my team. We already look forward to retuning back, and some of our youth workers will be returning on their own just because of how much fun we all had

Arrived Wednesday morning, at 8:55am--five minutes shy of opening hours. As soon 9am hit, the place opened promptly and the young lady at the front accommodated my brother and I very quickly. She made the process seamless/easy!
The cruiser bikes were well maintained, tire pressure felt sufficient, and brakes were very responsive.
Overall, the experience went without a hitch and allowed us to explore this beautiful island! Also, the staff were charismatic, professional and very helpful!
My friends and I rented one surrey and two duo pedal cars. This was so fun! We enjoyed racing around the island. It's a great workout. Very nice place to rent bikes from. Staff are attentive & in a good mood. The bikes were in great condition. Loved riding through beautiful governors Island. Highly recommend this experience. Definitely will do this again.
I love their bikes. We rented a small Surrey bike since we were two for $40/hr. They also have large surrey for large family fun for $35/30 mins and $50/hr and so many other fun bikes and scooters. They have a great customer service and definitely coming back!
Always look forward to renting a bike while on Governor's Island. Blazing Saddles definitely take fabulous care of their bikes. Awesome they get you familiar with the bike before your ride, make sure you feel comfortable as well & when you return your bike they'll ask how was your ride !! What a wonderful bunch of people !! I highly recommend renting a bike to further add to a wonderful day on the island !!
Brilliant place to rent a bike from. Staff are great and they offer free rental of bikes for up to 1 hour between 10am and 12pm. We took a cycle round the island and it was fantastic - best way to see it.
