What clients say about The Red Lion | NYC in New York (NY)
-
The security at the door was unnecessarily rude on several occasions and completely ruined my experience by giving us a hostile welcome. There’s a difference between doing your job and being outright rude — and this crossed the line.Customer service should start at the door and by being greeted disrespectfully it had ruined my whole experience

Love the music, the bands were amazing! unfortunately for the service, the ginger waitress is probably the rudest waitress we have ever met.

Was showing a friend the area in the West village and telling her some history of different locations. She came from near Albany for a few days and it was all new to her. We popped into Red Lion a very reputable location and a neighborhood staple. Attentive staff with live music on a decent sized stage. Great food we plit "chicken ceaser wrap" and the wings. Phenomenal food and she said it was the best chicken ceaser wrap she has had In HER LIFE. Shout out to Red Lion.

Loved this place. Great drink options, excellent live music, and very friendly service. A fun spot with great vibes.

The bar itself is amazing. Great happy hour, live music every day, food is good too for a pub. We enjoyed it here three days in a row. Sadly I have to give 2 stars (would have been 1 if everything else wasn’t so amazing) since we got scammed there by an employee. It is clearly a bar full of Americans and locals. A few tourists like us as well. We sadly got overcharged by a young employee at the bar. We didn’t know better because we previously only ordered during happy hour. And only after we ordered the drinks again and got charged way less we realized. When I asked how much she hesitated a bit and charged us 20$ instead of 16$ for 2 beers. I obviously paid the 20$ + a tip. Afterwards we were only charged 16$ with another employee. If we weren’t tourist I would have made a fuzz about it but it was our last day in New York and we just wanted a chill night. Other than that it’s a great bar, just check prices beforehand if you are a tourists :/

If you like, live music, you have to go to Bleeker Street. It has great live music and comedy. The red lion had live bands a great staff and people from all over celebrating music, Christmas, and hanging out

Red lion Is a great spot the live music is very good and it’s always packed, good place to go for with a group. Food is lovely and the staff are very nice and good craic! Definitely worth checking it out when in New York!
Nov 25, 2025 -
Love the music and the vibe, great bands, but I cannot recommend. We were there, about 10 of us. And all us had our drinks snatched/swiped away by staff if left sitting on bar or table for any length of time..I am talking half full bottles of beer, mixed drinks you name it.. look away for a second and your drink was gone.. Unacceptable. People paying WAY too much as it is for drinks these days but this dishonest, sneaky, deceitful behavior left a very bad taste in my mouth. Despicable behavior.

10/10 for food, atmosphere & service. The staff are the BOMB. So friendly, so attentive, always ready to fill up your drink when you’re low. And the music - 10/10. Always gets me and the girls boogying! Woo go Red Lion GO!
Nov 22, 2025 -
Absolutely loved my visit to The Red Lion! The atmosphere was lively, the drinks were great, and the service was exceptional. A special shout-out to Sorcha, who was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Will definitely be back!
Nov 21, 2025 -
The owner was very friendly. The music was very skillful. Not everybody in there like me that's why I gave it four; but that's almost everywhere I go. Tacos for a dollar Vegetable pork and chicken And an affordable pint.
Nov 20, 2025 -
Solid spot to hang out and the live music is indeed a vibe. Cheap drinks, not much else on the menu going for it.
Nov 14, 2025 -
Came here for Halloween and had a great time. They booked a great band for live music.
Nov 03, 2025 -
Cleo at the bar is fantastic. Warm, attentive, and clearly the only saving grace of this place. Unfortunately, everything else falls flat. The food is average at best, takes forever to arrive, and when it finally does, it’s cold. The waitstaff spend more time chatting with each other than checking on tables. Getting them to take your order feels like an interruption, not their job. To make matters worse, when you ask politely for the waiter to step aside so you can see the game, instead of being accommodating, he gets rude and talks back. The overall service feels careless, unprofessional, and disrespectful to paying customers.

Great smaller venue for cover and tribute bands. The talent is off the chart (saw Up All Nighters last night - clearly some are moonlighting and are Broadway-caliber vocalists/musicians). Great vibe, nice staff and a great time overall.
Sep 15, 2025 -
Amazing bands with awesome music selection and repertoire + talented musicians. Such a fun night out until late 3 am Friday. Drinks were great, was just slightly annoying when the staff were walking around and clearing drinks, leaving full beer bottles but taking our still unfinished cider. Still, so glad such a great place exists, definitely recommend.

Don’t miss this place for a fun night out! The place is like an English pub with a long bar and live music for dancing! Best thing: no cover! Great atmosphere! Enjoy! And the owner added a great feedback! I am back here a few nights later! And same great atmosphere and good Stella draft! Congrats!!! 🎉🎊😍

Great place for live music. Every single band you see there is awesome. We follow New York Jukebox, The Rolling Bones, and Candy Shop, and last night we saw Blue Avenue Group - amazing band as well. Everybody who plays there is insanely talented and will have you dancing all night long. Plus, the food is amazing, the drinks are great, and the bartenders are friendly. It’s just a great vibe overall. Number one bar in New York, for sure.

The Red Lion is a vibrant Irish-style pub located at 151 Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village, New York City. Known for its lively atmosphere and nightly live music, it’s a popular spot for both locals and visitors seeking entertainment and a casual dining experience. ⸻ 🎶 Live Music & Atmosphere The Red Lion features live music every night, with up to three different bands performing covers of popular songs ranging from classic rock to contemporary hits. The venue boasts a spacious dance floor, encouraging patrons to dance and enjoy the performances. Music typically starts around 7 PM and continues until closing at 4 AM. ⸻ 🍽️ Food & Drinks The pub offers a menu of standard bar fare, including wings, fries, and pizza. While the food is generally considered decent, it’s the drinks and music that draw the crowds. Happy hour specials and reasonably priced beers make it an attractive spot for casual gatherings.

Great bar to meet people and to have a good time with friends. Bartender at the bar was very friendly. During the daytime there is no cover, then in the night they have a cover (not expensive) with amazing live music. This is a bar that I will repeat again! Fabulous location on Bleecker St where you can eventually go to a different pizza place, another bar or restaurant. Highly recommend if you want to spend a good time!

A great place to experience live blue music. The pub has a long history of hosting live music, and the atmosphere is always electric. The bands that play there are top-notch. It's a great place to let loose and have a good time.
Feb 18, 2025 -
The best place in the City for live bands concerts playing covers of classical rock, alternative and pop music. Comfy young crowd, not pricey drinks and overall great vibes

The Red Lion is back as the amazing soccer bar they once were! GREAT food and drinks options...ask for the girl's breakfast...also chips & guac, fish & chips, and 'I can't believe it's not burger' are all delicious...Lovely personable and attentive staff...Katie, Clodagh, Eimear, Inga, Melissa, Anya, Jack, Conor, Dave, Eugene...to name just a few...and THE BEST place for live music in the Village! Update: the new Jack Daniels sliders are DELICIOUS!!!

Amazing live performance. Excellent service. Beautiful atmosphere. I tried for the first time a Beyond Meat burger and it was really fine. Chicken tacos were great too. The red lion brewed beer was tasty. We spent a marvelous live music night.

Great spot! The live music was great and upbeat. They have specials each night. We made it for 50 cent wing night (Tuesday). Our waiter was Dara from Ireland and he was GREAT! The wings were standard, pub wings. Know that they don't come with carrots and celery with this special. They cost extra and you must buy a bar drink. Inside is quite loud, but there is seating that worked well for us outside under an awning as well as on-street seating. Cons: - the homeless, the drunk homeless and the mentally unstable homeless. They were disruptive to say the least. - beware of the prices on the menu and the prices on your receipt. We were charge $2 more than listed.

We walked by and decided to check this place out before our reservation down the block and didn't want to leave! We considered just skipping our reservation..alas, we got on our way. We had so much fun listening to music. Everyone there seems great and casual and you can tell there are good friendships among the musicians who perform. We both had beer that we liked and were able to find a seat toward the back that was comfortable. We will be back we hope!

Nice bar located in the Soho. Good variety of draft beers and food. Good bands playing at the place - but we needed to pay $5 each to enter, which we were not expecting. The place is crowded and you may face a line depending on the day and time you get there.

We were looking for a place to just chill. Somewhere more intimate and ran into this place. Customer service was great, drink prices were good, and the guy performing live on the stage singing cover songs let me rock the mic real quick. David the bartender was awesome. They had doors closed and brother got sick once we left but he definitely got me a cup of water for him quickly so that goes to show that they do care for their customers.
Jul 29, 2022 -
The music is great, the bands deserve a better stage. Place is quite lame; tired and neglected.. menus and tables are sticky.. soda is flat.. food is likely frozen products.. The tenders tasted old.. the nachos were low quality, wings are meh.. curly fries were good. Got double fries on the bill when ordering one - check what you’re paying for. The ⭐️ ⭐️ are given only for the live music 🤷♀️

This is one of the hottest places to be for outstanding jamming bands. Updated; dropped by again late last night after playing at the chess club. 12/11/18 However, never mentioned, that their food, most especially the chicken club sandwich is exceptionally delicious. Most especially with their large order of sweet potato fries. It's like being in food heaven. I thought their chef, must be almost a cordon bleu trained expertise professional. And their band, "Stinger" was epically outstanding. Tremendous place for a birthday party with family and friends. 💜💙💜🍔🍔🍔 To wild nights out in NYC, it all gets down from here to eternity. And the drinks are spectacularly priced to party. If you're looking for a wild night spot ride of NYC, just hop on the bike and hold on tight. It all starts from here, cheers 😈🍺🍺🍺Do Like👍👍👍
