Great customer service and solid prices. I checked out Gartner's to buy some cardboard boxes. Someone on staff proactively asked if I needed help and assisted me with getting everything I needed. They even helped tape up the boxes to make it easier for me to transport home. Will be coming back.

25 years and five apartments in the West 70s, and Gartners is my favorite hardware store. It is deceptively large and stocks nearly everything. Staff is super helpful if you can’t find what you need. And it’s by far the cleanest hardware store you’ll find in the city. They recently helped cut a brass door kickplate to size for my front door, and replaced a broken lightbulb no questions asked. This is my go-to place.

Great spot. Staff is helpful, store is clean, pleasant and well stocked, and prices are reasonable. Highly recommend. Had my keys copied here and they did a great job.

My elderly mother recently visited to return a fan she'd purchased within 7 days and not used, thinking she could trust this store, but they have a no-return policy on fans specifically that was not mentioned when she purchased the fan. The cashier did not reference the policy during checkout and engaged her in conversation throughout the transaction so that she didn't see the posted policy. They were dismissive and unwilling to produce a manager to discuss the issue, claiming the manager was at lunch (at 3 pm) with no estimate of a return time. They would not even give a name for the manager or way to reach them. If stores like this want to survive in a world of Amazon they need to provide basic customer service.

Just needed a plug- they doors were closed at the beginning of their hours and again closed 10 minutes before the posted closing time, refusing to re-open the door while other customers shopped. Can’t trust their hours.

The new store is spacious, the staff is really friendly. I had the pleasure to contact Angel. who was so accurate in the info that I requested. Perfect knowledge! easy communication. His work answered to the premise and he was so pristine, accurate, clean and perfect. I am so glad I met him

Bobo was so helpful in copying a special key for me. It works!! I’ll be back for another! The other two apt keys are perfect. The service here is genuine & expert. I overheard another Gartner employee kindly advising another customer. We’ll make this our go to neighborhood hardware store! So greatly appreciate. Thank you.

The place is great ..but the saff was unfriendly. I went to buy an item I needed... around 6 pm, the guy behind the counter was rude...need to treat people better...

Abdul just changed the tricky bulb in my halogen lamp and refused to accept any money. Gartner's has always had top notch service and that's because they hire the right people.

Gartner Hardware is a one of a kind store! They have everything you can imagine and a bit more. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and take their time to help customers with their questions. The store moved to this location recently and it was a great improvement in terms of organization. You could spend a full day in the store without getting bored and discover items you didn’t even know you needed.

Gartner’s is a wonderful hardware store. I brought in ny lamp that suddenly stopped working snd I was lucky enough to have Ba Ba help me. It took a week of his trying to find the correct piece that was missing and he went out of his way to do so. He was wonderful! My lamp now works and am so fortunate to have this store in my neighborhood. A great store. Thank you again Ba Ba.

Very nice independent hardware store. They have the professional stuff that electricians and other professionals use and regular stuff for the average Joe. Very helpful, good prices, it's a valuable resource for the UWS Highly recommended..

Wanted to fix my toilet they did have specific item in stock my bldg handyman was shocked

The team at Gardner’s Hardware are well informed and extremely helpful. I have been coming here for years as need dictated, and probably should have written a review long ago. They always seem to have what I need, and take the time to make sure I get the right thing. Today they went above and beyond for us when an unexpected problem arose in the apartment. There is no comparison between what they can offer and what one might get in a big box store. Thank you Gartner’s!

I was looking for a one way screw removal tool. I bought it from west side home center for $15. But it was the wrong size so i returned it no questions asked. These guys sold me the exact same tool for $20 and flat out refused to exchange let alone refund if the size is wrong. The size happened to be wrong again. If I had a spare screw I would have taken it with me but these things are attached to my window guard and I can't tell the size by looking at it. The tool is available online for half the price and is much cheaper even in other hardware stores in Manhattan ($15 vs $20). I asked about a/c installation they charge $150. PC Richard's who sold me the A/C with free delivery a few blocks up quoted me $90. This neighborhoods hardware store is for local suckers and people in urgent/emergency needs. On this occasion I fit both the bills.

I just moved to the neighborhood and although this hardware store was really convenient for all my needs, the five stars specifically go to Angel the handyman. He heard I was trying to paint my high ceilings alone, offered to come over to my apartment and take a look on his lunch break and by the next day him and his crew not only painted my ceiling, they finished painting my kitchen, installed light fixtures, caulked all of the baseboards in my entire apartment and fixed things I didn't even notice that needed attention. The following weekend I hired him to help me move all of my belongings from Astoria to the UWS and he and his team finished in less than 3 hours. Angel is awesome, reliable and loyal! He is my go-to for everything now. Next: building my new bed frame and hanging up my wall art! :)

This hardware store had exactly what I needed, and in more sizes than I knew existed. The extensive inventory is mind boggling, and very well organized. There’s no reason to schlep out to Home Depot when Gardner has it.

These guys, especially Baba are amazing. Let me count the ways: my husband attempted to fix a broken lamp and only managed to make it worse. They fixed it and charged me a reasonable price for doing so. I needed an electrician -- they recommended the best electrician on planet earth who I am working with to this day. My air conditioner broke down and they put me in touch with an A/C genius. In the meantime, I bought fans from them -- they carried them to my car. This is what a local business should be. They have anything you need -- hardware, kitchen wares, contacts and advice. Gartners has been around for a long, long time and anybody can see why. I love this place SO much.

Our daughter lives near here. I often try to fix/replace/improve things in her apartment when we visit. This store has an incredibly wide variety of useful parts and devices. The helpful, friendly staff make every visit pleasant and productive. An excellent neighborhood resource.

This place is great -- moved to the area a couple of months ago and had tons of odds and ends to purchase here, and they were always able to help me find what I needed. I don't think there was anything that they didn't have, ranging from keys, to door sweeps, to random small screws and pins and things like that. The employees are very helpful with finding things around the store. My one wish were that it stay open slightly later, but I guess perfection is impossible..
