What clients say about Norma Hell's Kitchen in New York (NY)

Food was great, lasagna for my wife that I tasted as well. My margherita pizza with added sausage was outstanding. Italian bread with olive oil was one of the best breads I have ever had. Total bill was a little pricey but it is NYC so what are you going to do.

This restaurant is wonderful! It's always what I want from a dining experience. The staff are charming, disarming and helpful. They care about what you are having and seem genuinely happy that you are eating it. The food is satisfying and generous without a bit of pretension. There are hallmarks of NYC dining here which are that busy restaurants take longer and that space is at a premium, so don't expect a 20min dinner with tons of room. It's intimate and the food is supposed to be enjoyed.

Excellent food! Felt like we escaped to Italy. Authentic, perfectly seasoned and great service to boot. The bruschetta was a great way to kick things off along with the salad. The pizza is true Sicilian style and was divine. The pasta was perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. Can't miss Nonna's cake to finish things off. Can't wait to be back.

We ended up coming here twice during our stay — simply because it was that good. Great, relaxed atmosphere, genuinely friendly and attentive staff, and the food was outstanding. Everything we tried was spot on. 10/10 — easily one of our favorite places in Hell’s Kitchen. Would definitely come back.

I always look forward to eating at Norma. Their food is fresh and fantastic. This time we had the frito misto as a starter (they moved it under the main dishes now) for 4 of us. It was plenty to share. I love the pieces of fish, shrimp, calamari, and zucchini. I ordered the rianata pizza because I was hungry for some anchovies. The fresh ingredients and simplicity of the pizza is what makes it so good. Along with their amazing dough and expert cooking. You can taste everything in each bite, the fresh tomato, cheese, anchovies, and raw garlic. Yum! I guarantee you will not get bitten by a vampire after eating this pizza. I look forward to visiting again next year.

I have come here a lot, and usually it’s great. However, today we ordered a pizza, it came out cold. The cheese wasn’t melted. When we questioned the waiter, we were told they shave the cheese after, which would’ve been okay (however we have ordered this before and that wasn’t the case) but the dough and the toppings also weren’t hot. We waited 40 min for this to “cook” while I watched my pasta dish sit under the warming light for about 25 min. I am incredibly disappointed by the service and the food quality. The waiter did not come over once to check in on our table and see how we were doing, while routinely stopping at every other table and having full blown conversations. I hope this isn’t what’s to come in 2026. I will likely not be coming back if this is the new trend. We were basically ignored the entire time and had to ask someone else for the check. Not sure if this is or is not relevant but 2/3 of the people at our table were not white, all 3 of us gay. To reiterate the talk bald waiter would never do this. He has always been incredible but this experience was by far the worst I’ve had anywhere in quite some time.

Great experience in Norma Hells Kitchen yesterday. Arancine is different from most places; comes in the form of cake vs rice balls. Pizza Diavola is lovely and crisp. Main course equally good. We loved the lasagna, tagliolini al ragu with braised beef. Service is terrific. It was little less crowded for a Christmas week evening which was surprising, but all in all, a lovely place for family dinner.

Very friendly staff this place was great enjoyed the food atmosphere and the casatella dessert was like how my mother made them highly recommend this establishment Great Great
Dec 22, 2025 -
Lady fingers in tiramisu were not dipped in espresso, so we ended up eating just sponge with mascarpone with cocoa dusting on top and one of the staff members was rude

Norma in Hell’s Kitchen has a charming, intimate atmosphere — the space is a bit tight, but the food more than makes up for it. The dishes are full of rich Italian flavors and feel thoughtfully prepared. The staff is welcoming and attentive, adding to the cozy vibe. A great spot if you're looking for delicious Italian food in a warm, inviting setting at reasonable prices after a Broadway show.

Genuine pizzas like on Sicily, you can see in my history I have been there. Very nice staff and next time in NY i will come here again.

Beautiful place, with nice waiters and overall fast turnaround. The food was ok, we tried 2 pastas, which were not bad, but not really worth 30usd per dish.
Nov 09, 2025 -
The food and service were excellent. You can really taste how fresh the ingredients are. We had to wait a bit to be seated, but it was absolutely worth it.

Super delish meals and awesome gluten free pizza. Lots of flavor with everything we had . Loved the regular bread . Gluten free pizza was super good . Great service - didn’t wait long for our meals to arrive. Loved this place

Absolutely amazing food, service and atmosphere, which definitely looks like a little Italian restaurant from the inside! The pizzas are absolutely delicious and the pastas as well. I would strongly recommend the Busiate al pesto and the gnocchi! Definitely will be coming back next time i come to nyc.

Amazing all around. The food was perfect and absolutely delicious. The staff are incredibly amazing and make you feel at home. Love love this place and will be coming here again.

We had a excellent meal for two tonight. Our server Martina was very friendly with good suggestions on the wine, we also took her advice and had the Mortadella pizza, Lamb pasta and finished with a tiramisu. All were super delicious, our favourite was the pasta.

The food and staff are excellent here. Came here last minute with my daughter who is in a wheelchair and they got us seated right away. The pizza looked and tasted amazing. In fact, I watched other as their pizza came and every single person of took pictures of their food because of how good it looked. We also had the arancini and it was the best I’ve ever had.

We had pizza for lunch today and right away it was the best pizza in the New York City. Whether you're from Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens or Manhattan, you're not gonna find a better place for Margherita pizza. The base was the perfect right amount of softness and crunch at the crust. For those who love wine, theres ample options. Seats are clean and tables were well maintained. What deserves a special mention? Their Margherita gotta be the best one int he city. What could be better? The seating arrangement. The tables are just too close. Imagine having apizza and someone just sneezed on it. If you care for your customers, you might wanna position the tables properly.

It’s a standing queue that is worth waiting. I‘ve been here 3 times. All 3 times have to wait in line. The restaurant is full of many people. The taste of delicious food, the service is right. Like it and excellent service. If you have to date or want to sit down and eat comfortably. Next message is that this is the 4th time that I came back to eat here, but I was very disappointed and sad. Because the food I ordered was not cooked from the first word that the plate was placed on the table and I ate and I informed the event that I helped me fix it. For the second time, the food came back, he just brought my food to reheat it to make it hot. And we didn‘t eat it and informed that we couldn’t really eat this dish because it was not cooked. When it was time to check the bill, there was that dish in it. Which I told you to take this dish out. But the waiter who took care of me that day was very bad manners. Never met a service staff anywhere to scold customers because your food was not cooked and customers couldn‘t eat. During the problem, I’m sorry about the word about the food. But the conversation ended with the word I‘ll

Sat outside on a beautiful summer NYC day to enjoy a classic Sicilian-Italian lunch. We ordered the Buffalo Ricotta with orange honey, meat stuffed rice ball, and Norma pizza with tomato, mozzarella, basil, eggplant, and ricotta. The Buffalo ricotta tasted sweet and could have been served as a dessert. The pizza dough had a flaky crust and the eggplant melted in your mouth which I really enjoyed. The rice ball was stuffed with meat and tasted savory but not too salty. Great restaurant to try before seeing a Broadway show.

Quite a nice restaurant with a more traditional Italian style. The food felt authentic. I was not a big fan of the food myself but I see the effort they go to to make it high quality. If you want a more authentic experience this might be a great place for you

Great little spot for Italian. Has good atmosphere and the waiter was attentive. Came with some great bread service. I had the Rucola e Parmigiano (arugula salad with pear and walnuts). Very fresh the balsamic was just lightly drizzled but the pairing of the candied walnuts and the pear was fantastic portion was large enough to share. Had the Margherita Pizza, the cheese was good the dough was very light and full of flavor.

Had the Norma Pie and it was better than the piesvwevrecently had in Sicily and Rome. Norma's pasta explodes with flavor and is made fresh. I haven't experienced Italian cuisine this good anywhere. The waiters are amazing too.

Best Italian food I have had in a long time! When the waiter thought we had waited too long (we were fine!) he brought out a complimentary app that was DELICIOUS! Friendly staff and great environment. A little loud, but a fun spot for a date or a group.

Amazing authentic Italian food. Had a great experience here, between the service, atmosphere, and the food, it was nearly perfect. Hope to be back because there were so many additional options that I wanted to try and did not have the chance too on this visit.

My parents and I ate here after seeing Othello, and the food was absolutely chef’s kiss 🤌🏽✨ We dined on the caprese, bruschetta, lasagna, and Norma aranchine and everything was to die for. So disappointed that we had to eat on the fly but it was well worth it. We sat outside and it was truly just so lovely. Service was fantastic and super kind. Def will be back when I’m in the city. I live in ATL and miss this kind of Italian 🙏🏽🫶🏽

As a family, we visited Norma Hell's Kitchen and thought that it was quite good. The pizza was very nice, and so was the Lasgane, and the rest of the pasta was ok. The service was ok, although we were not given any bread to start with. Norma is quite a busy little restraunt.

Hands down, the best gluten free crust I have ever had. It was chewy! Like what I remember real bread tastes like! I came in at 1:30pm on a Friday. Seated immediately. Excellent service, lovely glass of a full bodied dry red - all Sicilian wine- and a delightful margherita pizza. Try the chili oil, it’s a game changer.

David was our waiter. He was an authentic, Sicilian waiter attentive to our needs and provided a high quality experience. The only disappointing thing was getting a chocolate torte rather than the Tiramisu. Regardless, everything was absolutely delicious!
