What clients say about StuyTown in New York (NY)

We just had 2 gentlemen Jake and Jose up in our Peter Cooper Apartment fixing a long standing bathroom drain issue. They were great....very nice, so communicative and left everything immaculate after having to remove the sink from the wall and remove a 50 year old pipe. Thank you Jake and Jose....!!!

Had a wonderful leasing experience with Leo. He was super knowledgable, helpful, and responsive to our questions. We’ve only been residents for two weeks and were very happy with how spacious and well lit the complex is. Best decision we could have made is moving here!
Mar 01, 2026 -
Moving into StuyTown was a great experience from start to finish. Leo was an excellent agent - responsive, professional, and made the whole process seamless. The community itself has exceeded expectations: well-lit pathways, a strong sense of safety, and common areas that are consistently clean and well-kept.

Park/playgroud rowith in the complex. A coffee shop , farmer's market ,movies in the lawm during summertime, skating rink in winter. Bunch of activities year round. Security is good, for such a large complex.

The Stuytown leasing department is in a class of its own, but Henrieta, specifically, was exceptional from start to finish. She was patient, responsive, and incredibly hardworking throughout the entire process. My mom felt supported every step of the way, and I always felt like we were in capable hands. Her professionalism is matched by genuine kindness — which is rare. We’re incredibly grateful for her help and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.

We had to find a place to rent for 6 months to be close to our daughter, son in law and their new baby, and we are in love with our new place in Peter Cooper Village! Tiffany Walker was a delight to work with and managed to quickly find us exactly what we were looking for and more! We adore our sun drenched apartment with gorgeous views and so much room and storage space!!! Everything was impeccably clean and our open kitchen is the bomb! Very happy to be New Yorkers again!

I had a great experience working with this team from start to finish. Tahmid Chowdhury was incredibly helpful throughout the application process, and Wade Johnson made the final approval and move-in steps smooth and stress-free. Both were consistently responsive, easy to reach, and thorough in answering my questions along the way. Cynthia Penn has put together an excellent team, and it shows. Appreciate all the help — looking forward to moving in.
Jan 27, 2026 -
I want to tank Mr. Tahmid Chowdhury for his excellent customer service from the start of my application process to Mr. Wade Johnson in finalizing the approval/move-in process. They kindly took all my all calls and responded to ALL my inquires in a timely fashion. Cynthia Penn has a great team! Thank you... Now let's move-in :-)

Had a wonderful experience from start to finish working with Tiffany Walker. She was patient and kind with my partner and I while we tried to find the perfect apartment for months. Absolutely thrilled with our selection and loving the neighborhood vibes.

A wonderful place to live. The staff are always friendly and ready to help. The grounds are kept immaculate and it’s a Wonderland all time of year for families seniors and the young alike. I couldn’t think of anywhere else I’d rather live in Manhattan.
Dec 25, 2025 -
Stuytown is pretty but the apartments start falling apart the moment you move in and they don't fix anything. I had no stove for 3 months. My dishwasher has been broken for two months. Will they fix it? Probably not, but they'll still keep charging exorbitant rents. Don't move here

Leo Gelalis was amazing from the minute we walked into the leasing office, to signing the lease and beyond. Very nice guy, proficient and patient and we very much appreciated it. He made our dreams come true !! The apartments are great. And stuytown staff go above and beyond Thank you!
Dec 17, 2025 -
Ask for Tiffany W to help you find your new home at StuyTown! we love our home and the support we received over the years, would recommend to anyone and have already influenced two families from our school to move there as well! The quality of living for families with young children is unbeatable.
Dec 15, 2025 -
Their service needs to be improved! Once you get locked out, it can take up to an hour for someone to show up, and you get charged $55 plus tax. The Stuytown safety service staff are extremely unhelpful. If you call again to ask about the process, they simply don’t want to help and don’t care. They just say there are tons of people locked out ahead of you and tell you to wait. They won’t call or check with the person in charge to let you know when they’re coming. They were very rude and total jerks.

StuyTown continues to be a beautifully maintained, mega-safe, vibrant community! Management is highly responsive and efficient. Maintenance/service requests are promptly heeded and consistently implemented with appropriate attention - - by knowledgeable, professional and courteous personnel. Another noteworthy plus: The grounds are magnificently landscaped and maintained; and the creativity and execution that goes into community-wide holiday decoration is remarkable! StuyTown IS a community in every sense of the word, from the comforting presence of our responsive, caring Public Safety force; to the connection-fostering events and activities that are thoughtfully provided for every resident demographic; to the investment and responsiveness of Management in the welfare and satisfaction of StuyTown tenants. Overall, an A+ place to live and thrive!! And I should know… [long-duration Resident] Pamela Candusso Hirsch

Stuytown is a very nice apartment complex but do not be fooled - their buildings are extremely old and maintenance is wildly slow. Some examples: - When we moved in 1 elevator wasn't working (of 2 total!) and they said that it hadn't been fixed for months. It wasn't resolved until weeks into us moving - The elevator has stopped working again in the building and I had to walk up and down 9 flights of stairs at 8 months pregnant to take my dog out - we have had numerous issues with our toilet and our shower and our toilet has taken then 5 months to resolve. They are scheduling plumbing work to take place 2 months out from when you call. That is totally unacceptable for any building! Wait times to even get in touch with maint. are sometimes 30+ mins or more. Who has time for this? Rent isn't cheap here either - not much cheaper than the rest of the surrounding area for really old buildings. Don't live here!

Moving to Stuytown/Peter Cooper Village this fall was the best choice I could have made. It's like living in a lovely park right inside Manhattan. My new apartment looks over the East River so has 24/7 mesmerizing views of the river & Greenpoint on its far side. So interesting & peaceful.

I’ve lived in Stuytown for 4+ years and used to love it — it’s one of the best communities in NYC for families. Sadly, the quality has gone downhill fast. • Our dishwasher has been broken for two months; the first repair date was a month out, and no one showed up. They pushed it back a whole other month! • Elevators were “under maintenance” for almost three months and now open 5+ seconds slower because the system is too old. • Building compost bins lined with black plastic bags — against city rules — make everyone’s composting pointless. It feels like management is cutting corners everywhere, and residents are paying the price. Stuytown is still beautiful, but it’s being neglected by short-sighted, cost-cutting management.

As a 35+ year resident I love living here. The staff is generally very responsive, buildings snd grounds are well-maintained. Most neighbors are wonderful.
Nov 11, 2025 -
It's a lovely community to live in. There are Pranayama, meditation, tai chi classes being taught (for free!) in the Oval, a personal police, human servicing repairs! And what have you. I have a grouse though. There aren't any 2 beds 2 baths in Stuyvesant, only in PCV ( which kinda deadbeat) , that's a bummer. They have 2 beds and 3 beds but ONLY a single measly bathroom to 3 rooms or 2 rooms. It's high time they realised that it's not pleasant to have just 1 bathroom to 2 -3 rooms. That's stingy & amounts to slumming in a personal space like where you bathe & refresh. Beamliving needs to upgrade the interiors to fit in more bathrooms. Each bedroom should have a bath of it's own. Maybe turn a walk-in closet closest to an existing bathroom into a bath...that's clearly 2 being provided right there! The 3 bed apartments in so many buildings are laying empty because no one wants to share a private space like a toilet- bathroom with others. This is a solid advice, please take note. We want a 2 bed 2 bath in Stuy Town, not PCV. Desperately Seeking Susan, seeking a 2 bed 2 bath! In Stuy

We love living here. It's an oasis in the madness of the city! Green, clean & zesty. If we ask for a service , it is provided, there is a waiting time between the request & fulfillment, it does get done.

I love living here in a place that is mostly peaceful and well maintained. Repairs are made quickly and with great skill. In our building we do have an ongoing issue with the elevators. Since the elevators were "FIXED" one of our elevators, either the C1 or the C2 is routinely stuck on one of the floors and not working. This especially true on the weekends. Can we get the elevators in 5 Oval running and fixed for good?? Also we need to improve our recycling, especially with all of the tenant turnover we experience. People dump WHOLE APARTMENT of FURNITURE and household items either on the curb or in the recycling rooms. This is very challenging for our building staff snd creates huge mess on the loop disposal sited and in recycling rooms. We can encourage tenants ** to donate or call the Salvation Army or Good will to pick up furniture items ** to donate household items to our local thrift stores ** we could place a few more clothing collection bins around the property AND ** designate a recycling site r two on the property where people can drop off items and other tenants can pick up items. I thank you for your hard work to keep our community safe, peaceful and beautiful. Have a great day.

As a long-term resident of StuyTown, I can attest to the exceptional quality of life offered here. The Public Safety team is highly effective and consistently present, while the Management Team demonstrates professionalism and responsiveness. Residents enjoy the benefit of personal green spaces, surrounded by well-maintained landscaping and flora. The apartments provide ample space, and the community is pet-friendly, accommodating small dogs and cats (with registration for dogs). I highly recommend considering this community for those seeking a tranquil retreat within the city.

We (two European scientists in our 30s) moved into our new Stuytown apartment about two months ago and are very happy with our choice. The area offers a level of life quality that is hard to come by in other parts of Manhattan. We love the greenery and the quietness at night. The staff is super nice, and everything is kept in great condition. Our 1BR apartment is very spacious, has a lot of natural light (even on the 2nd floor), and the finish and renovation state are excellent and of high quality (to be fair, we got an apartment with a Platinum finish). As one may expect from apartment buildings of this age (and the living standard in NYC), steam pipes and heating are occasionally audible in the winter, but we happily live with it for the otherwise very quiet and pleasant neighborhood and community. For their age, we find the buildings are maintained in great condition, and any repairs are handled very quickly. The outdoor spaces of Stuytown are exceptionally nice and very inviting. We also had a great experience finding our new home in Stuytown. The entire process — from first communication to applying, signing the lease, and moving in — was very streamlined and straightforward. We worked with on-site lease agent Tiffany Walker, who was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, making it easy for us to find the right apartment and navigate the application process. As internationals and first-timers on the rental market in NYC, we particularly valued the transparency and fairness of the process, which we noticed is far from typical for the city. We’re glad we decided to move to Stuytown and look forward to staying here for a while.

We have been residing in Stuytown for a considerable period now, and it has truly been a remarkable experience. The landscaping is impeccably maintained, and the residents are exceedingly congenial. Discovering such a tranquil haven amidst the bustling cityscape of Manhattan is indeed a pleasant surprise. We wish to extend our heartfelt appreciation to the exceptional team at Stuytown, namely Thomas, Johnson, and Madelyn. Their professionalism, amiable demeanor, and unwavering willingness to assist are truly commendable.

Stuytown is a lovely community of well kept buildings in stunningly beautiful grounds. I have lived in 10+ areas of the city until I found my 'forever home' here. I truly can't imagine living anywhere else. If you are looking for the perfect spot to come home to every night you can not go wrong.

We moved to StuyTown a few years and couldn't be happier! The location is accessible by so many different types of transportation, including the ferry, which is such a cool way to travel in NYC! Great apartment size with lots of closet space, also super close to so many amazing and diverse types of restaurants, bakeries and shops in the East Village. We really love living in the middle of a landscaped park filled with flowers and trees and a beautiful fountain right in the middle of the city!

Peter Cooper Village was our first choice when we moved to New York, and we've been really happy here. The location is amazing, right in a great part of Manhattan, and our kids go to PS40, which is a fantastic school. The apartments are spacious, and living here feels like being in a park. We feel very safe, which is super important for our family. The flat monthly fee covers almost all utilities (except ACs), so there are no surprise costs. Plus, we've been able to furnish our place with stuff we got for free or bought from neighbors for cheap. The buildings are old, so sound isolation isn't great, and we've gotten to know the local plumbers pretty well because of the old pipes. But the management is really good about fixing problems quickly. You can definitely tell the place was built in 1947, but that adds to its charm. One downside is that moving between apartments can be tough. If you want to take over someone else's lease with their financial terms, it's pretty difficult because of strict contract rules. Overall, Peter Cooper Village has been a great place to live. It’s safe, spacious, and has a real community feel right in the heart of Manhattan.

My husband and I have recently moved to Stuytown and our experience has been amazing so far! It’s a beautiful community filled with great people and amenities for everyone! So great to feel very safe and secure in this place ? especially with the holiday decorations and abundant foliage. The apartments also have heaps of space and we are thankful for our modern kitchen too! We would also like to thank Tiffany Walker for helping us get our apartment here! We had a very short time period to get a long term place and she has definitely saved us. She’s very knowledgeable about Stuytown, providing information that helped us make our choice with confidence. Thank you Tiffany for your friendly, caring, and easy going nature as well!

I grew up in StuyTown in fact, my parents, sister and I were first tenants in our building in 1949. After I married, I lived in Suburbia (and hated it). In the 80's, I moved back to StuyTown, with my youngest son, who was 14 at the time. I've lived in Peter Cooper Village for the last 30 years. If you want to live in Manhattan, and especially if you have children of ANY age, the only place to be is StuyTown or PCV. Where else will you get trees, grass, squirrels and birds outside your door, with benches on which to sit with your kids, neighbors and friends? There are too many services and facilities to mention, but below are a few. There is private security, very good, prompt service if you have a problem in your apartment, a community center, and playgrounds galore. The playgrounds are very considerably set aside for specific age groups, including infant, through adults (exercise equipment) and basketball, bocce and tennis courts. All playgrounds are safe and locked, opened only by your card-key. Outside of our two developments are numerous restaurants, bagel shops, cleaners, shoemakers, hardware and drugstores. In the spring and summer there are community activities. Christmas, Hanukkah, Halloween and other holidays, are celebrated with festivities and there are summer outdoor concerts on our beautiful huge lawn. It's like a small town with large-roomed apartments, an oasis in the most beautiful big city in the world.
