What clients say about Rainbow Station in New York (NY)

I walk in not 10 minutes ago, then I get stopped some employee. He proceeds to tell me that they are closed, since it's cleaning time. I asked when would be good to come back, I get the vague answer "later". If it's cleaning time, then lock the door. I just walked past again and the guy is watching the cameras so I assume somebody is in there shopping. What a joke.

the store has a decent selection, but the prices are a bit high for the quality of the products. consider looking elsewhere for better deals.
Sep 09, 2025 -
we got what we wanted (a pride flag for my friend) but both got misgendered on the way out by the cashier while I was wearing a purse alright place, not really cheap but has a decent selection, but if you are claiming to cater to queer audiences I expect more awareness and to do better; there was no reason to try to assume a gender and call us both "sir"

This place racially profiled me the whole time I was living for a certain item. Kept asking what am I looking for how long it will take and then asked me to leave.

The worst store in NYC. I went for the first time, and after shopping there, I was stopped at the door, had my backpack taken away (which, by the way, is transparent), and was accused of stealing it even though I had it in plain sight the entire time I was in the store. The staff gave a pathetic apology while acting like they were the victims. You're better off going to Harmony, just one block ahead :)

A store with high-quality products, great service, and great prices. 100% recommended.

Rating: 0 stars I had been a loyal customer for over 20 years and spent a significant amount of money at this business. Unfortunately, my recent experiences have been deeply disappointing. On one occasion, a female security guard banned me simply for waiting outside the restroom while it was occupied — even though I had the key. It felt like she targeted me for no good reason. A few weeks later, an online article stated she was attacked & seriously injured by a patron. While I don’t wish harm on anyone, it’s a reminder that you should always treat people with respect — you never know someone’s mental state or what they have on them. Additionally, I would encourage the staff — particularly those from South Asian backgrounds (Pakistani, Indian, Sri Lankan) — to treat all customers with professionalism and courtesy, regardless of race or background. Success in business depends on respect and service, not just relocating to avoid tax liens due to low revenue. Sexy Boutique and the Blue are closed. Many years ago, a worker at the Blue was also attacked (he was rude to a customer and was punched the face). Beware of Rainbow’s Revenge: Bad workers/contractors stay at this location for 1-2 decades.

This store has a lot of merchandise I ended up leaving with what I needed, but the customer service was not a nice experience. The store is very dark. It’s hard to see. The Merchandise is vast, overpriced and sandwiched in so tight. I had employees Hawking me, babysitting my every move commenting every time I would touch a hanger. It was very frustrating. I was just trying to find my size. I don’t recommend this shop unless it’s an emergency, which in my case it was. even though I spent $100 in about 10 minutes, I found a cashier to be rude and if I never go back, it’ll be too soon.

Went to look for some Pleasers (overpriced). The men that “helped” me talked about me while I tried them on and then when I didn’t want buy the shoes they told me I wasted their time. Although they have a wide selection of garments, shoes, etc. they’re extremely disrespectful.

Horrible thieves! They treat you like you are trash and they overcharge you to the point of theft. Stay away from this horrific place. They charged me almost 70 bucks for lube.

I had a horrible time at this .as soon I walked in the assumed I was a woman, and the owner and some black guy was very discriminate against me. Ask me if I buying something, then threw me out. I filings a complaint against the store.

Went there yesterday and bought a selection of underwear. Had great prices too. Will definitely be back
Aug 11, 2023 -
I have never been so offended in my life. My first experience was not good as I heard the employees talking about me saying I was taking too long looking at underwear. I felt very uncomfortable continuing to look and shop so I just left. The second time I was watched by the staff and the man at the door. He came over and asked if we needed help. He was impatient and rushed us. We still needed more items but was ignored when we asked for something ljt of the glass case. This place is trashy. I will never go back.

There are alot of swimsuits and intimates to choose from and naturally one would need time to select the right things, but the staff made me feel VERY uncomfortable while I was shopping because they hawk you relentlessly. They literally just stand there and watch you looking for underwear and intimates and its distracting. It's like your on a time limit in the store. Then I was "escorted" to the cash register by an employee who then proceeded to hawk me in a threatening manner while I made my purchases. I have no ideawhy, but it was clear they really thought i was shoplifting, which 8 was not and I will absolutely be willing to submit to a polygraph test to prove this. NEVER AGAIN.

DO NOT GO IN!! The staffs are rude to me. Kicking me out since I was just browsing. Don't think they want to earn any money. Not friendly to customers.
Mar 17, 2023 -
This place was on my bucket list to just see and review about but not now. One of my good friend went in there just to be told to leave cuz they took a bit longer to shop cuz they made it a day trip. They don't live close so they where taking there time. But this guy thinking he's big man not even security kick them out because they were having too much fun and didn't think they would buy anything. That being considering quite sad because outside is literally rainbows what a shame. Maybe hire people that don't kick out ur paying customers.

Stop! Walk to Purple Passion and shop there. Transphobic employee laughed and ridiculed me for buying underwear. Also, was told at checkout that I owed him an additional 5$ for touching merchandise. Be weary of this place. There are plenty places in walking distance. For example, Purple Passion has much better staff and merchandise is clean. Plus all around a better store with more variety.

A 24/hr establishment where dangerous people congregate and allow open drug use in and around their store. Their business model and lack of community respect is a big reason why this part of Chelsea is experiencing serious safety issues. Walk by literally anytime of the day! You’re sure to feel at ease..
Aug 27, 2021 -
This place has a cheap feel because of the dirt, small space and the way they present the products. But it's cheaper than other stores in that block. The same products, but cheaper.

I would leave no stars honestly if it was a choice. My friend and I both went here shopping for swimwear and basically got met with hard stares and very pointed questions. Towards checking out the man kept asking my friend where I was when I was right beside (behind the register he could only see infront of him not to the side). He said my friend was there before and he has never been there ever. It was our first time there together. He examined my friend’s debt card as if it wasn’t his (while his picture is on the front of the card) .5/10

Great selection, but the staff may do better to keep in mind that no one wants to be watched like a hawk when they’re in a sex shop. I understand it’s probably a place where shoplifting is an issue, but I probably would have bought more if I didn’t feel like a criminal just walking in. I didn’t even look down stairs because the cashier down there was incredibly rude and acted like I had no business being there.

Went here, after already having one bad experience, only because they were the solitary advertised retailer in NYC on the BREEDWELL website. While trying two items on, the employees accused me of stealing and then watched back through the security footage while I was trying to actually pay for something. They then told me I had to tell the person at the cashier how many items I had to try in the back fitting room, but had no signage indicating this was their policy and refused to listen to my suggestion they make that more clear to their customers. After going back and forth about it, I finally walked out and they lost a sale. Because of their utter rudeness and aggression I will NEVER be going back and will contact BREEDWELL directly to order with them and suggest they find another retailer. I encourage others to stay away.

Has wide variety of adult toys, lub, sexy male & female underwear, and accessories for that late after hour fun open 24/7 and offers entertainment booth & much more low/mid to mid/high price range

The theater is extremely dirty, and the store probably has multiple building violations. But my biggest complaint is the staff. They are so rude to customers. They are obviously homophobic and hate the people they depend on for their money. It doesn't make sense, but that's how strong their hatred is. In their reviews, some people have suggested other adult stores that treat their customers right. Go to those businesses. Why would you give your money to a business that treats you like trash?
Aug 21, 2018 -
This business is absolutely disgusting. The owners will gladly take your money, but then harass you. Customers cannot watch a movie in peace. The owners demand that you leave the theater area to watch a movie in a booth no bigger than a coffin. That forces customers to pay dollars every 3 minutes to see the mvie. This is in addition to the 10.00 entry fee. Even worse, customers are often robbed in the booths, but the owners don't care about that. The owners are crude and rude. Pass on this business. There are others that offer the same type of service, but they respect customers.

DON'T SHOP HERE! Disgusting and horrible store clerk. No one should be treated like a criminal for mistakenly using the wrong bathroom. The guy barged into the small bathroom while I was relieving myself and demanded that I leave. Then he cursed at me and used offensive language. I have never been treated that way before by a store clerk, especially in a free loving neighborhood like that. Spend your money elsewhere! There are tons of adult stores with better service in the neighborhood.
