I visited this thrift store because of the good reviews, and I had no idea I would experience the same uncomfortable treatment twice. This is my second visit, and both times I was made to feel completely unwelcome.
The same Caucasian woman at the register followed me around the store, watching me closely and looking at me with hostility, as if I was going to steal something. It was extremely obvious and incredibly unprofessional. I came in with money ready to shop, yet I was treated like a suspect instead of a customer.
When I went to check out, she wouldn’t greet me, wouldn’t look at me, and acted like I didn’t exist. After being followed the entire time, I asked her if she had manners to say hello. I also told her this was the second time she treated me this way. Instead of apologizing, she smiled—almost as if she was satisfied with making me uncomfortable enough to leave.
At that point, I decided not to buy anything. No customer should feel profiled or singled out.
I do not recommend this thrift store at all. The lack of diversity, the racial profiling, and the hostile environment make this a place I will never return to, despite the positive reviews I originally saw online.
the employees are very friendly and they have verity of items to choose, I’m petite it’s not easy for me to find a blazer, but I was lucky to find a set (blazer & pants) in a good condition buy only $25
Over the past few days, I have been helping clean out the apartment of a friend who recently passed away by bringing things to Housing Works to donate. Today after I arrived before they opened, I wandered into the Upper East Side Thrift Shop, also a non-profit. I am so happy I did because it was a great find! They have very nice things for sale (including paintings from my friend's apartment) at quite reasonable prices. The store itself has the feel of a high end boutique.
But what really sold me on this Thrift Shop were two employees, Anastasia and Karina. Both made me feel welcomed and both seemed very grateful for each donation I lugged down the hill from Third Avenue!
I also appreciated the opportunity to help raise money that will be used to help Ukraine!

Amazing place. Great prices! Books, jewelry, museum quality china, interesting t-shirts, craft supply, and much much more. Visit every day. Always leave happy.

I stumbled upon the Upper East Side Thrift Shop recently and was pleasantly surprised by the wide selection of items at fantastic prices. It felt like discovering a hidden gem with each aisle I explored. The staff was friendly and helpful. If you're in the area, be sure to check out both locations on 1st Ave and 87th Street, as well as 2nd Ave and 89th Street. Support this local business, you never know what treasures you might find!
As a basic used goods thrift shop, Upper EastSide offers basic essentials with a decently sized inventory. There is a good amount of variety in inventory including apparel, home decor, entertainment, and miscellaneous items, although nothing that interesting really stood out to me. That said, prices are quite fair compared to some other thrift shops throughout the area.
Inside, walking space is tight and the floor is a little messy. It did feel a little uninviting while perusing, though, as the store was completely silent without any ambiance whatsoever as not even background music played to fill that void.
This is the best thrift store. Actually thrift prices- 5$ or less for most shirts and pants. Really great selection of stuff and super nice staff. I come here every week for household goods and clothing and there’s always a plethora of new great stuff!! Love this place!
I was able to find a nice purse and ring to match what I was wearing. The staff were very helpful and eager to assist me in finding the perfect items! The understated purse was a nice shade of beige with a heavy duty and lux gold chain strap. It accentuates the gold earrings and ring, I accessorized with.
Great thrift shop with lots of amazing clothes! The prices are unbelievably cheap and the clothes are so cute, and everything is freshly dry cleaned. They also have art, baby clothes, cups, silverware, shoes, etc anything and everything. Highly recommend! Definitely the best thrift store on the UES!
Favorite thrift in UES hands down prices are amazing and items are great wide selection of jewelry, awesome clothes and shoes plus they carry A lot of home goods. The two are women who run this places are really sweet :)
Very happy to have such a wonderful new local thrift store! I have found several beautiful pieces of jewelry and vintage housewares to add to my ever growing collections, and it's nice to have another spot to donate to.
This is my go to shopping store. I have found so many good brands and the quality of the clothes are great. They also have so many picnic matts frame candles like just wow. And the price range is unbelievable. Everyone should definitely go and see, u will find the best pieces in good prices.
First of all I admire the people who opened this much needed thrift shop, as rents in the area are astronomic. The store may need some small adjustments in space and items presentation, but essentially it is a good store for people to discard their unused items and those who are looking for something that can be resold for much than the purchasing price. In addition to it, it gives some other flavor than fast making money coffee shops and the banks in the area. Let's hope that this store will survive and further improve.

Wonderful place, great people and finds that are a steal. I got my toddler like new Gap jeans and a Tommy Hilfiger shirt for $2 each! And they gave me free socks.
It’s also a nonprofit.

I have a very good experience with this place! Got a few very nice things, absolutely new! You can find a real treasure here for a very good price! The owner is amazing! She is helping people in need with pleasure! I am very happy with this store!
Great store, such a huge variety of everything you want. I have being coming there from day one they open.
Amazing brands, cheap prices. Found there and Gucci bag, Coach purse, Prada boots.
