I could not be more disappointed with the young lady that is a teller in that store. Management should supervise the rudeness of their employees.

Conveniently located and seldom overcrowded, this Gristedes is the ideal place to quickly walk in to find what you need. The selection may not be as varied as others, but it has the basics.

Went there just to get one thing. Wouldn't honor the sale price posted on the shelf of an incredibly overpriced item. Walked a few blocks to Trader Joe's and paid even less - much less - than even the sale price at Gristede's.

Got food poisoning after buying two rotten ground beef packs. One was visibly rotten and the other I took a chance—worst decision in my year. Almost got hospitalized. Don’t buy anything from here.

Today I went to this supermarket but when I went to checkout, this cashier, her name was Zuri, made me put all the items in the bag even though I purchased the bag from them. I do not know if the person was racist, or this is how she deals with other customers. I had a lot of items to carry otherwise I would have talked to the manager on the spot. This was a very rude behavior the worst customer service I have experienced.

Surely the worst grocery store on the east side. Ridiculously overpriced (cheapest eggs are $5/dozen!) Incompetent and rude staff. Highly limited selection. Save yourself the agita (and a boat load of money) and go to Trader Joe’s 6 blocks down

I don't know how this place has anything other 1 star. I only come here if I need something in a pinch and I can't find it anywhere else nearby, for less. Food quality (e.g., produce) seems poor. Prices are obscene (huge markups on pretty much everything, even compared to other UES groceries). Easily the worst grocery store I've ever been to. Not even close.

Mislabeled Prices, low quality meats & produce, prices about the same as a 24hr bodega. They’ve turned the plastic bag ban into a profit. The law is $0.05 per paper bag. Ask for paper bags and they charge 5x that, each, because “they have handles”…. Looking at the receipt on my way out always leaves me furious. (I know it’s not a lot of money, just makes my blood boil that they can get away with this) Trust me, if you can walk a few more blocks, go to Trader Joe’s on 60th. If you want to spend that much money on quality groceries at least go to Whole Foods/ Morton Williams and get your money’s worth!

I gave this place more than a try to convince myself it is a convenient place, my trials ended up with one try that I will never step in this place again. I have bought a whole watermelon with $26 that was yellow and rotten inside. The $26 went into the garbage. See the photo attached. The most expensive watermelon and the worst one. Not to mention how many times the strawberries were bad as well as sweet peppers. I will never step down into this place again, I gave it more than a try because it is the closest grocery store to my home.

Price is okay, but staff are not kind and not good with this store! They should need education for costumers. It is depending on employee’s mind. I will not never come there again even though I live near the store.

Food quality isn't the greatest. They don't have a lot of turnover on the vegetables and they don't have an active meat counter so go on Mondays for the freshest meat and Tuesday for the fruits and vegetables. I really like this place because of the hardworking friendly faces that work at this store.

Just ok...lack of international line from Greek to French to middle eastern...too local. As for prices, I’m sure 15-20% percent of the price goes to rent, at least. Aside from that, it’s an ok place. A suggestion, move the deli corner to a more visible place and make it more attractive and inviting.

I live in the neighborhood, nearly 30 yes and I shop here regularly. But when you have knucleHeads working the Register I start to wonder. First time Ive been confronted regarding my other bags I bring from other stores. I felt as if I was having my bags check for stolen items which was not the issue. I am or ever will be a thief. ""YOU DUMMY""" Go back to school and learn proper etiquette. Ray you are a great Store Manager but I wonder aBout those you hire.

A nice grocery store. Also puts effort in decors and customer service. Presentation of products are always neat and organized.

I did shopping on April 11th Saturday around 3pm. When i got home my wife told me that everyone charge $3 to $4 for Clorox bleach but They charge me $11 for it. Then i took it back to the store and told manager who is name LUIZ C. that i would return because of overpriced. And they didn’t accept return and refused refund. I asked him why would you charge %300 more then usual price and he said he cant say anything about it because it’s companies policy.

The checkout employee was extremely rude and I noticed that I'd been charged the wrong price for a tub of feta (there's a 5.99 sticker on the product and my receipt says 7.99). Aside from that it's the usual NYC grocery store: everything ludicrously overpriced, cramped, fairly dingy.

Their prices are a little expensive like their cereal, cookies, meat products, frozen section. Beware and look at the dates on Their products so you won't buy expire merchandise. Some products have no dates, no expiration dates on them so you dont know if you are eating spoil products. Their cashier's could be a lot more friendlier and less rude. For example, saying hello to customers will be nice.

The prices are insane. The quality of fresh produce is mostly abysmal. The few items that are not visibly damaged are likely to have hidden damage. Staff can't be bothered to offer service aside from sliding the items across the scanner. Do not enter unless you're legitimately on the verge of starvation.

Recently renovated and a vast improvement. Still a typical Manhattan supermarket - high prices, cramped, but now clean. I've always liked the delis and their Herman potato salad.

One of the worst grocery stores in the city. Incredibly high prices, low quality produce, and unfriendly staff. I’m ashamed if I’m ever caught walking around the city with their bright yellow plastic bags

Nice clean, well stocked neighborhood store. Has almost everything you'd need. Only thing I noticed missing was a section with prepared sushi (which most supermarkets of this size have).

Ridiculous and sneaky price gouging on essentials and basics. Want Simply Fresh OJ? Prepare to drop $7.99. How about $8.99 for a pack of Hebrew National franks? Or $2.00 for a lemon? Potatoes are $5.99 per pound. You get the picture. Total rip-off.

The only real grocery store between 58th ST and 73rd ST on 1st Ave and below in Manhattan. They've improved in the past year. Don't rely on their meat station ... The meats don't look that fresh and the selection is limited. Overall, things seem just a little overpriced.

This place is much cheaper than the food emporium and a matter of health but don't be fooled by its run down appearence because it's not cheap per se. They do offer a 10% student discount as well! But for all the other stuff on sale you have to remind the person ringing it up to scan it correctly. Some pretty good deals in store as well!

The quality of excellent varitety amount of healthy and nutrioned food they comply to those who want to shop. The appeal of their supermarket is very amazing to see all different type of orgainc food that are for those who want to stay healthy like myself. Their service is astonishing make the customers feel at home. I personally love to shop at Gristedes and enjoy their many variety of organic bread and produce.

Hate this place. The stuff steals your money. Literally. I am serious. Every time they "mistakenly" put wrong prices, "forget" about sales, switch products. You take a bottle of water marked 2.99 on shelve, and get charged 3.99. If you notice, they find an excuse. Yesterday I bought 2 cases of beer, different brands, and got charged 2 times the price of more expensive brand. Noticed at home, I lost $5 on 23-dollar purchase. Thieves!
