Highly recommend Pro Hugh Heo. A true PGA professional with extensive experience. He is very patient, kind, and excellent at pinpointing exactly what you need to improve. Even as a super beginner, I’m improving quickly thanks to his clear and effective instruction👍

Absolutely amazing experience, Sam, Zac, and Emma made it an experience we will never forget. Came in with a big group, the 5 Iron team made it very easy for us to set everything up given how many people we had. There wasn't a time where they wouldn’t check up on us to make sure we were having a good time. Besides the golfing itself, the amenities there ensured that no one would get bored, the food was great, and the vibes in there only allowed for a fun time. All around 10/10 experience, would definitely return for another fun time.

The reviews for this place are almost universally positive, so maybe my experience was an aberration, but this was not the best. I came here on Thursday midday with a handful of colleagues for a work lunch/bonding experience. This particular Five Iron location is a short walk from the office (probably five minutes or so) right off Herald Square; the signage is a little inconspicuous from the outside, but we didn't have any difficulties locating it and accessing the premises on the 5th floor (we looked on the map carefully before leaving the office, and I'd recommend the same for anyone else unsure). The actual setup is pretty cool; it's a very spacious facility, which makes sense, with at least two different bar areas, a very nice bathroom and then at least 12 golf simulators with accompanying couches, etc. Definitely could have been more that I didn't see. The primary issue is that the heat was very clearly not working, or at least it wasn't in our section (11). One employee made a remark about the temperature, but we never received an apology nor offer to go to a warmer area. Given that we've been in the midst of an atrocious sub-freezing stretch, it was legitimately uncomfortable/unpleasant, to the point where I ultimately put my winter jacket and accessories back on because I was having trouble feeling my extremities. A huge miss in my book on multiple levels. The actual simulator was pretty cool. I had ZERO formal golf experience coming in, though I've acquitted myself well over the years at various mini-golf outings, but this is a different, more sophisticated beast entirely. One of my co-worker chums is a legitimate golfer who played varsity in high school and has golfed at the Old Course at St. Andrews (which I can tell, even as someone who's a golf bumpkin, is clearly a flex), so he looked right at home in front of the simulator. The closest type of experience I have is high school softball/Little League, so my swing SORT OF mimicked the correct way to go about things, but not really. All that to say, I was pretty bad but it was still fun. I'm not entirely convinced it truly gave accurate representations of what would have happened if we'd been at St. Andrews (I picked that course for the one hole we ended up doing), but no matter. The food I had was mediocre at best. There's some metaphorical window dressing on this menu (a few Indian and Mediterranean food references, e.g.), but ultimately it's just normal bar food, which is fine in theory. I ordered the Hot Honey Whipped Ricotta app. It didn't show up with the rest of the initially-ordered items, nor did it come with the second wave. We had to remind the staffer literally three or four times before it showed up, but it legit took an hour if not longer, and we were getting ready to leave when it made its appearance. The only upside to that? It didn't have enough time to get cold, which happened to the rest of the food very quickly due to the temperature in there. A lot of people got fries on the side, but those were icy within 10 or 15 minutes, unfortunately. They were honestly the best items I tried - cooked thoroughly which is my preference, though they needed ketchup for flavoring purposes. We also got a plain pizza to share, which was pretty bad - it was basically just a frozen, tasteless, rubbery pizza that wasn't even as good as a Celeste Pizza from the freezer section of the supermarket. I'd for sure avoid that section of the menu if you can. The bathroom was pleasant (and warm!). Everyone who visited came back raving about it, which is...unusual in my experience. A lot of amenities in there, like floss and sanitary napkins. It gives it almost a country club vibe, coupled with the bougie lockers in there. I don't see myself coming back, and certainly not when it's this cold. Frankly, I'm more concerned about the lack of accountability/acknowledgment from the staff than even the heating issue itself. Regardless, when your biggest selling point is the bathroom, that's a problem.

Highly recommend Henry Chung as a golf instructor at this location. As a beginner golfer, I appreciate how patient and encouraging he is. Henry’s instruction is very personalized, and the drills and adjustments given have improved my swing. We create clear goals together, and I’m looking forward to celebrating new milestones. I really enjoy the facilities and spacious layout here. Also, the staff and team members at Herald Square are welcoming and go above and beyond for the guests and members. Shout out to Matt, Joanna, Max, and Luis!

Chase was really great to organize the event and coordinate with. The space she suggested at Herald Square was perfect. Jeff our server, Will the on-site manager, Cameron the bartender, and the other members whose names I didn’t catch were excellent and so attentive. Everyone was really happy, well-fed, and always had a drink in hand. Thank you so much. We will definitely want o have a party here again.

This place is amazing. It s a great place to hangout and wine down afterwords. The server Sam is very kind and provides excellent services and the food is fresh and delicious! Would definitely recommend anyone to come and enjoy themselves here! 😊❤️💕🍻👍🏻

Amazing experience at Five Iron Golf. The facility is top-tier—clean, modern, and well set up. The simulators are accurate, and the atmosphere is fun and welcoming. Sam was especially great—super helpful, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience even better. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced golfer, this is a perfect spot to practice or just have a good time. I’ll definitely be back.

Could not love this establishment more! John especially shows dedication and hard work every week. I come here every single week purely for John and the service they provide. I absolutely love 5 Iron Herald Square purely because of the staff and the energy they provide. 10/10 every week

I love working with Coach Hugh Heo. He diagnoses what’s wrong with my swing fast, explains the “why” behind it, and he’s all about fundamentals. Plus, I’m making way more progress than I expected—super motivating. Highly recommend Hugh if you are looking for a great coach who can really take your game to another level!

I have been taking lessons with James Field at Five Iron for approximately 1 year. I had started out with zilch, zero background in golf and it was (to put it gently) not pretty watching me try to hack my way around (whiffs, duffs, tops, shanks, I was a master of all except actually making solid contact). I was ready to just call it a day before i met James. James had a structured, patient approach to developing the fundamentals and building a basic repeatable swing. He even took the (what I thought was dicey) approach of having me switch from golfing righty to lefty (I am a lefty but started out playing righty figuring it was easier to do so since lefty stuff is in such short supply). I am in disbelief at times over the progression I have had under his guidance over the last year. I am still pretty awful and have some blow up rounds but in the year since starting I have now been able to play a range of courses starting from executive Par 3 courses, to full 18 hole courses having fun while i'm doing it. My handicap (I actually calculate one now unbelievably!) has dropped to the low 20s which is still beginner territory but compared to 12 months ago I would have never thought that in the realm of possibility. What's great about James is he adapts to your skill development and as you progress from beginner to high handicap to mid handicap player he adapts his lessons and content for you. My buddies ask me the secret to how I went from zero to actually being able to play on courses and my answer is two words. James Field. thank you so much .

Karlene and Cameron (the bartenders) were so attentive and amazing! They offered suggestions when i didnt know what i wanted and made me feel like a regular despite it being my first time visiting! Jeremy (server) was so understanding and helpful with the menu. Will (the general manager) was wonderful! We had an issue with the technology that he quickly fixed and made our night so much better! A wonderful experience overall! I would recommend this to everyone!!!!

Karlene, Cameron, and Jeremy were all great! Love the general manager Will as well and the location is so clean and great! Definitely recommend stopping by while in the city for a great golf simulator experience.

I’ve really enjoyed working with Coach Hugh Heo. He takes the time to break down every aspect of your golf swing, using Trackman data and video analysis to show exactly what’s happening from side to side. What I really appreciate is that he doesn’t just point out what needs improvement — he gives clear, personalized drills that actually help you make progress. Each session feels purposeful, and I always leave with a game plan for what to focus on. If you’re looking for a coach who truly understands the mechanics of the swing and knows how to help you improve, I highly recommend Hugh Heo.

Excellent experience from start to finish! Very nice space with semi private areas. Great for our group of 12 with 2 simulation screens side by side. The service was very good and the happy hour deals unbeatable. Would definitely recommend and come back again!

What more could you want. High quality sim, with great atmosphere, plenty of space, good drinks. Enough said.

I had an amazing experience working with Hugh Heo. He has a rare blend of deep golf knowledge, patience, and an ability to teach in a way that really sticks. From my first session, Hugh listened carefully to my goals and immediately pinpointed what was holding me back. Every lesson felt personalized, thoughtful, and genuinely fun. Hugh has a gift for breaking things down simply and making even tricky adjustments feel manageable. Instead of overwhelming you with technical talk, he explains the purpose behind each movement so it truly clicks. My consistency and confidence have improved tremendously — and for the first time, I feel like I really understand my swing. If you’re looking to seriously elevate your game while enjoying the process, Hugh is the instructor you want. Could not recommend him more!

Sam Kang was a fantastic instructor and I highly recommend. I also enjoyed the $5 beer & $5 wing special after my lesson.
Nov 03, 2025 -
I’ve taken lessons from a number of golf instructors over the years, but Sam Kang is in a class of his own. He’s incredibly thoughtful and precise in how he teaches, and he immediately points out the things that truly matter instead of overwhelming you with too many swing thoughts. He has a way of breaking down mechanics so they actually make sense, and he gives you drills that translate directly into better ball striking. You can tell he really studies your swing and cares about helping you improve. Every session feels productive, and I’ve been seeing steady progress week after week. Sam has a great mix of technical knowledge, patience, and attention to detail that makes every lesson worth it. Five Iron Herald Square is also a great environment to learn in. The staff are friendly, professional, and always make you feel welcome. It’s a relaxed but focused place to work on your game, and the team there goes out of their way to make sure everything runs smoothly.

I got a swing evaluation with Steve Chung here at 5i. For over a year I never took lessons and simply watched youtube videos and got as far as I could on my own. He helped me improve over 50+ yards carry from just one day. He's the best of the best in evaluating what you're doing and making suggestions based on that. Super chill, great guy. I haven't been this happy with my golf game in a very long time.
Oct 30, 2025 -
Working with Steve Chung has completely transformed my golf game. I’ve taken lessons with several instructors over the years, but none have had the level of technical understanding, teaching ability, and genuine passion for improvement that Steve brings. He’s incredibly knowledgeable about TrackMan technology, and he uses it in a way that makes the data easy to understand and immediately actionable. When I first started lessons with Steve, I had a 15 handicap and struggled with consistency—especially off the tee and with my approach shots. Within just a few lessons, I started seeing dramatic changes. Steve helped me understand my swing mechanics on a much deeper level, showing me how small adjustments in club path, face angle, and sequencing could create more efficient ball striking. The improvement was almost immediate.

I recently took lessons with Steve Chung at the Herald Square location and truly cannot recommend him enough 20/10!! As someone fairly new to golf, what I really appreciated was how he was able to explain different techniques and break things down into simple, easy-to-follow steps. He was super patient and has made a huge difference in helping me understand my swing better. If you're looking for a skilled instructor who is super easy to work with, Steve is your guy!!

If you like golf, this is a good spot thats close to train station. The rates get discount after 9pm. Happy hour promotion is worth it for a quick bite.

This was my second time ever going somewhere to play Golf and I will definitely be going back. I love the exclusive club feel, but it’s definitely still laid-back enough to just go there and grab a drink on a remote work day. The workers are so nice, and the mini game area has ping pong and a foosball table. I only expected a golf area and a bar. So it was a great surprise to see that there was a lounge area and enough room for there to be comfy couches and chairs. I only wish there was a pool table. But regardless, I’m definitely gonna be going back.

Great experience at Five Iron! They have many just enough courses and alternative games (ping pong, shuffle board) for everyone to be entertained - golf enthusiast or not. Cocktails are also good (recommend the espresso martini - yum). Also free coffee machine for those who want an extra energy boost (without the liquor of course :))

Stepping inside, we were immediately struck by how beautiful and large the space is. It's modern, sleek, and exceptionally well-maintained, with plenty of room around the simulators so you never feel cramped. The atmosphere is vibrant yet relaxed, making it perfect for both a serious practice session and a casual night out. The staff truly made the experience exceptional. They were incredibly friendly and patient, happily answering all of our questions about the different golf simulation games and making sure we were comfortable with the technology. Their helpfulness made it super easy to jump right in and start playing. We tried the hot honey pizza, and it was absolutely delicious—a perfect balance of sweet with a little kick. The drinks were nice as well, and they have a solid selection to choose from whether you're craving a beer, a cocktail, or a soda. As a casual hangout and special events, I would definitely recommend.

Shelby and her team at Five Iron Golf in Herald Square were absolute legends. From the moment I walked in, I felt at home, even on my first visit. They made me feel welcome without ever being overbearing. All the staff were friendly, fast with drinks, and full of smiles. The vibe was perfect: part golf range, part hangout spot, and all-around good energy. I had gone in to catch some Ryder Cup action, grab a bite, and enjoy a few drinks and somehow ended up having some of the most fun hours in NYC. Shelby and her crew made it effortless and genuinely enjoyable. I can’t recommend them enough!

We had a lot of fun here on my husband's birthdays on 3/22/25. What stood out the most however, was actually when something went wrong (a technology glitch in the Bay POS system) our food order didn't go through correctly and when they realized what happened, the on site team went above and beyond to accommodate our family. They let us extend as long as we could at the Bay when we realized what happened, but eventually a party was coming to the area so we had to move to the lounge, but they fully comped the food and additional time we had to pay to try to extend to wait for the food and were also super nice. I really wish I took names, but our server ( a super pretty black young woman with a huge smile) and the manager (younger white man, very nice.... wearing a hat and blue shirt this day) were awesome. The bartender in the lounge was also great. We actually wound up having just as much fun in the lounge- if not more!- than in the Bay. I just want to say that the staff made the experience more than ok- they made it actually better than I thought the afternoon would have been.

This is probably my 10th visit and I always love coming here. My husband is obsessed with this place. I never play but just hangout and the energy is so nice and so are the people. So friendly and welcoming. The food drinks are so good. Super cool place.
