What clients say about The Delancey Rooftop in New York (NY)
-
The staff here is extremely rude, sexist and incompetent. The bouncer literally dragged my friend out and mistreated her in a way I've never seen at a club and then proceeded to swear at us. Genuinely couldn't believe the level of violence and abuse being leveraged at us. I will never come here again and suggest you don't either.

I attended the New Year’s Eve masquerade at The Delancey with a group of friends, and while the idea of the night had promise (good music, decent cocktails), the execution was so catastrophically bad that it managed to tank what should have been a once-a-year celebration. Let’s start with logistics—because apparently those were *optional*. In a three-floor venue, one entire floor with a bathroom was closed. Of the remaining floors, only one had a bathroom. That bathroom was directly next to the coat check line, with zero signage and—more importantly—zero staff managing the chaos. The result? Two lines melting into one feral social experiment. People waiting for coat check thought they were in the bathroom line, realized they weren’t, and then began cutting, shoving, and pushing the people who had been waiting patiently. Normal venues might step in to de-escalate. Not here. Instead, the bathroom attendants / bouncers / whoever was on duty decided the correct move was to yell at the people being shoved, rather than the ones doing the shoving. They were rude, aggressive, dismissive, and seemingly annoyed that guests expected basic crowd control on one of the busiest nights of the year. Coat check was another delight—one single person working, while several other employees stood around doing absolutely nothing. Midnight came and went, and rather than opening the closed bathroom or managing the lines in any functional way, the staff doubled down on hostility. It takes real talent to ruin New Year’s Eve when you already have music, alcohol, and a crowd ready to have fun—but The Delancey pulled it off. What could have been a great night ended with frustration, shouting, and unnecessary aggression from staff who seemed to resent the very people funding their event. If you’re considering this venue for a ticketed event: don’t. A pretty theme and good DJ mean nothing if the staff is disorganized, confrontational, and incapable of managing basic human traffic. Ring in the New Year somewhere else. Trust me.

This was one of the worst places i have ever visited. The staff was extremely inappropriate and rude and also stole my coat. I left feeling extremely violated to say the least. Please stir away from this place, especially if you are a girl. I attempted to follow up using the contact information provided below by the owner, but the email address is noy found and I have not been able to reach anyone over the phone number.

The night overall was fun, but the bathroom attendant Sarah and the coach check person were very incompetent and rude. They were extremely sexist. I would never go back here. The bartenders shout out to them. Everyone else is really mean.

I went to see a band here. Place seems cool, but it's way over priced. Paid a cover to get down stairs which is fine, but then I paid $11.50 for a bottled Corona. I'm tired of paying basically the entire cost of 6 pack for 1 beer at places like this. I get that you paying for the atmosphere, but it's a bit much.

I’m leaving this review to share a serious safety concern, not to attack the venue. This is generally a good venue with a lively atmosphere and great music. A few months ago, my friends and I had an excellent night here, and on this particular night the DJ was fantastic, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. While my friends and I were downstairs, one of my friends was recording herself when a nearby group began staring and laughing, which made her uncomfortable. Shortly after, the situation escalated unexpectedly. A member of the other group became physical, and my friend was pushed down the stairs and forcibly removed. She was visibly distressed, and her clothing was displaced during the incident, which was extremely humiliating. At the same time, security escorted me and another friend outside without explanation or clarity about what had occurred or where our friend was taken. We only learned what happened after a witness near the staircase told us she had been dragged outside by a man who did not appear to be security or law enforcement. The police were called and the situation was mentioned, but my friend felt dismissed and did not receive meaningful assistance. Given the current climate and expectations around safety and accountability in NYC, this was deeply concerning. What was most troubling was the lack of communication, de-escalation, and care shown toward guests who were clearly shaken. No effort was made to gather information, ensure safety, or explain the situation. People don’t have to like each other, but no one should ever be physically handled or humiliated in a public venue. For transparency and accountability, I believe this incident should be reviewed using available audio and surveillance footage. Clubs have a responsibility to protect all guests. No one — especially people of color — should be subjected to this level of distress or dismissal. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves how situations like this are handled in the future.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re truly sorry for the experience you had. Our dress code is meant to ensure consistency for all guests, but we never intend to make anyone feel disrespected, especially our military members. Please reach out to us directly so we can make this right.”

The atmosphere here is absolutely beautiful, sexy, sophisticated, and perfectly put together. The space feels inviting yet nicely isolated, especially the performance area, which gives it an exclusive vibe. Parking can be a little tricky, but once you’re inside, the experience makes it worth it. Overall, an amazing spot with a vibe that’s hard to find anywhere else.

I came here with my girl for our anniversary. We paid $40 each for the reggaeton party in the basement. While I was hitting my vape near the bar one of the bartenders tapped me on the shoulder, naturally I turned my head towards him to look. He then accused me of blowing smoke in his face and refused to make me a drink. He then whispered in the ear of the other bartender and she refused to make me a drink as well and was extremely rude. Mind you I had drink tickets that I had already paid for and they refused to allow me to use them. I’ve never experienced bartenders act this way. Will not be going back

Was.wearing black pants the ukrainian european dude said I can't go in unless I have pants shortly after I seen a dude come out with joggers, when I pointed it out the big black bouncer said it's bc he got a bottle. I said I would get a bottle and they laughed. Don't waste your time go somewhere else this place won't be open for long.

It was a very positive experience at the Delancy. I didn’t notice the bouncer (people complained about) being out of character. I thought the staff was very professional and courteous. A Silat training partner of mine has his own security business. If you give the respect to the bouncer/security, they will give you respect back is what I learned. I checked out the rooftop/basement and 1st floor, all of which were not overly crowded. The drinks were made well also. I’d highly recommend coming over other establishments in NYC. I also prefer strong dress codes. Yes it’s by Essex; however standards is what can make or break a place as well.
Nov 10, 2025 -
Such a cool club—different rooms and vibes, plus the rooftop is always a good time. DJs bring the energy.
Nov 10, 2025 -
Paid a $28 cover to enter the downstairs space, where some bands were playing. When the bands were done, it wasn’t even 10pm. The staff abruptly, repeatedly and aggressively said everyone had to “go upstairs.” When we got upstairs, we were told that the cover we paid was just for downstairs, so we had to pay another cover if we wanted to stay. No thanks, peace! Not to mention the drinks were ridiculous - $18.50 for a gin and tonic. Don’t go here. Don’t support exploitive BS like this. It’s never worth it; it sucks the fun out of the night and breeds bad vibes.
Nov 01, 2025 -
Denied entry on Saturday because of ripped jeans but promoted entry if we bought a bottle... ridiculous, greedy vibe killer. I respect dress code in the aspect of people not looking like bums, tacky, or unkept but jeans for bottle... Na. Mind you we left one spot got in no probs cute girls in the spot, dancing, good vibes, to check out the vibes here. This is my first impression btw around Halloween when everybody else outside was dressed in costumes lol. We still ended up having great night at another spot regardless with our ripped jeans no problems. Greedy, madd corny get with the times. This LES not UES. 😂

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Three levels, good music, no cover. They once bounced my friend for his real ID 😭 but then we proved to them. Overall great, (personally I like the atmosphere of the top floor, but the music is too 2010’s pop, 1st floor is fav no cover and hip hop music).
Oct 24, 2025 -
We came for 2000s night. We were invited last minute so I admit we were not dressed for a 2000s night but we get our IDs checked the guy at the door had no clue what we were talking about in terms of a 2000s nite. We talk to the lady by the door. She had no clue either but she says the DJs do play 2000s music but the DJs will be here later. I said well it says 9pm. We got there at 830 as it starts at 9. There's nobody there. We decided to just hang out. We sit down for a bit then go up to the rooftop and sit down there. We are told that we have to get up because we haven't reserved that seat. I tell the girl okay we're just waiting for the 2000's night to start. So then she gets her co-worker. Her co-worker is very nice she says "can you wait by the bar and I'll come help you." At that point we were thinking let's come back later because there's no one here and we can't sit down. Right as we are walking out she comes out after us. She said she's sorry that she kept us waiting and she's sorry about the whole situation but come back at 11:00 I promise that it will be fun. No one ever mentions anything about how we were dressed the entire time that we were there. We were there for an hour. We come back in an hour and 15 minutes. Surely enough there is a huge line with a bunch of people waiting to get in as promised. We get to the front of the line and are screamed at and told we aren't dressed appropriately for a 2000s night. I'm not kidding you. He made me jump he came out of nowhere. My friend got very upset with the way the absolute deplorable man running this "door" spoke to him. I tell him we got here at 830 we hung out for an hour. We were told to come back NOW. We ubered here. Now you are not going to let us in after ALL of this? He said no I'm not letting you in sorry. I try to talk to another employee and see if we can talk to the nice girl we talked to before. The deplorable doorman runs over and starts screaming at me saying he runs this door and I can't speak to anyone else. I went back and forth with him a little because no one is going to tell me what I can and cannot do. However we were disappointed that our whole night which mostly consisted of waiting for this to start ended with not being allowed to go in. I will never return.

Went for a really cute event. Turned out to find a hidden gem.The rooftop was very nice. The music was on point, the vibes were immaculate. Place definitely has a lot of really cool energy and it was also very clean loved it

Got turned away by a dumb place for wearing jeans on the weekend. I’m 28, been to clubs in eight countries — probably over a thousand of them — and I’ve never seen a rule this dumb. I guess the whole squad had to roll up together just to party
Oct 13, 2025 -
My friend reserved a section on the rooftop for his birthday. Everyone who came had a wonderful time and the venue/location was a huge part of that. The rooftop had a great DJ who was really engaged in what they were playing and receptive to the audience. The bartenders were all business and good at what they were doing. They were attentive to the customers and efficient. The location right under the Williamsburg bridge is easily accessible and fun to party in.
Oct 08, 2025 -
Reducing to one star the DJs here really suck so bad, especially the girl on saturdays, they have no capability to read the pulse of the crowd. Old reciew: The only downside of this place is that the DJs here suck. The crowd is great, everything is great, if they had better DJs, it would level up the game of this place to the sky.

Great reggaton music in the basement but it gets very packed, definitely get tickets in advance for the reggaton basement portion if you don't want to spend $40 on a cover. The rooftop and main floor were free (I went prime time on a Saturday night and they did not charge to get in) however the music on those floors were iffy. Drinks were pretty expensive but average for a NYC club (around $17 shots and around $20 for a mixed drink). I have been there twice now and both times I really enjoyed the music and vibes in the basement but they unfortunately always overcrowd the basement even though the capacity is 97 (it seemed like a lot more than 97 people were in there).

At the time I attended, they were having a day time roof event. The only had sandwiches and flatbread, drinks were $25 each with automatic tip and the cups were small. The atmosphere was very earthy and there was limited seating areas. It felt like the space was not big enough to accomdate for the attendees at the event. The only real pro of the whole event was getting in for free.

Went to a really fun karaoke birthday party up on the roof. Great band and lots of fun. Outside is fun but really no view to speak of, just apartment buildings that loom over the bar's rooftop.
Aug 17, 2025 -
I came here for a music event in the basement, the property is huge, 2 floors and a rooftop. The drinks are great, the beer is cold & street parking is doable.

Worst Experience during a New Year’s Eve. I booked 5 tickets for their new year’s after party and wasn’t allowed in. I waited for more than an hour in the queue to get to the counter and after reaching it they said my tickets aren’t accessible. The tickets were legit and I bought it from Eventbrite. I was told to go to the next entrance to get my tickets verified but I wasn’t allowed inside. I paid a total of 170$ for 5 tickets and wasn’t able to set foot in there. Worst service and no coordination during rush hours. The photos show you how long the queue was.

Had a great time at The Delancey! It was crowded at the second floor and quiet in the basement, but the energy was amazing. Prices were average, and it’s a perfect spot if you're looking to party with friends. Would definitely recommend!
Sep 09, 2024 -
This place was amazing. 3 levels of music, and you can sit on the Rooftop before the reservations roll in with no hastle at all. The waitresses were so kind and let us chill out until the music came on, and we even got "free promotion tacos"! Great service and amazing atmosphere.

Love it, prob one of the best clubs around. No cover charge and they don’t do any bull💩 at the door. You get in quick and staff is very friendly. They have a basement with Latin music, first floor with more American music and rooftop with the same American music but just a lot lower volume. It’s perfect to talk to pretty girls. Drinks are 15 each. And bar service is always fast. I recommend coming if your going on vacation

I was in the Downstairs Lounge to see David's Pegasus. The show was fantastic and the venue was ok. But the bathroom was kind of nasty. It looked pretty fancy upstairs but so far i can really talk about the Downstairs Lounge only. The music was great... so, i will come back anyway.
Nov 25, 2018 -
A nice 2 story place. The upstairs kind of gives me a nice club house kind of feel. It has a lot of space and is great for an event. It has full liquor on both floors and lot of options for the venue you can customize for an event.
