What a wonderful candy adventure! Economy Candy is an outstanding candy store! They have all the candy you know , love and remember! What a sweet walk through memory lane and candyland!

Purchased mixed chocoate bags 1lb for $5 bag but there was no sign or mention of it being 6-18 months out of date. Also they repackage sweets into their own bags which also conveniently don't have expiry dates on either so I have no clue how old the sweets I purchased are. They do have a good selection but very crammed in there so be patient when looking.

Check the expiry date before you buy anything. I bought a gum that's expired! I guess it's hard to keep check on all the products they have? Anyway, the vibe there was great. Never seen so many candies in my life. The staff said better go on weekdays to avoid the crowd.

Wife wanted Milky Way All Caramels, which were supposed to be available last month, couldn't find them anywhere and found Economy Candy. Ordered a few of them and a few other desirable things we found, company provided great communication and we got all the items within a few days. Great service, fast shipping, and super happy with our purchase of candy and sodas!!

THERE ARE BUGS IN THE CANDY!! We bought candy from the pick n mix candy bins and when we got home, discovered silk worms in the candy. Do not buy the pick n mix! Edit: They responded quickly and informed me that they were inspecting their bins and removing all the affected candy, so I'm revising my review as I am satisfied with their response to the problem.

Overrated. Considering that this place has 4.7 stars across 2,500 reviews, I probably had higher expectations of this place than I should have. It's a fairly unremarkable candy store - it has pretty much all the same brands you'd find at any other candy store, perhaps just a larger variety. Was a bit disappointed that they didn't have more unique brands / international candy. Then again, if you're in the mood for Hersheys, M&Ms, Cadbury, etc., this is a good option, but would not go out of my way to come here.

Visited this candy store on our trip to New York City as it had been mentioned in a TikTok that it was the oldest candy store in the city. It was a small building with so much packed inside. We spent a good amount of time here checking out all the nostalgic candies as well as the imported candies. The back wall is a failure on jelly belly bag. I was personally intrigued with all of the imported snacks there were so many from France. They had their own shelf on the wall Europe it appeared was in the center on the cabinet, and then there were some Asian Oreos and pocky in the same area. If anyone in your life likes candy it’s definitely worth checking this out.

“This place is dangerous!” is what a lady coming out of the store with a bag full of candy told us on our way in. And she was totally right. I had a visitor from Japan who loves Haribo and was looking for the Ginger Lemon flavor, which apparently is only produced in Germany. So we searched online and came across Economy Candy. Considering it’s been around since 1937, I don’t know how I’d never been here before. It is such a fun store! It’s not large, but has floor-to-ceiling shelves and you are surrounded by chocolates and candy. It’s a child’s dream (and possibly for adults, too). I can’t wait to go back again!

Throw back to the throwback. Every candy they you had growing up and then some v so much stuff herei couldn't honestly choose was literally at a loss for words because they had so much candy. As an adult I don't eat candy but just being here till me back to my childhood

What a fun place to visit, so much candy and many other surprises like PEZ and vintage trading card packs! Highly recommend you visit. The oldest candy store in the city and the best!

Ahhh I love it! I love me a business that's been around a long time and keeps a lot of its charm.
Dec 03, 2025 -
What a treat! We were able to get an assortment of packaged and wrapped candies plus some great chocolates. The shopkeepers were nice, and the selection was great (national and international brands and selections available). A few other reviews have said the same though.. the store was TIGHT. We came in while few people were there, but then a large groups of families (LOTS of kids) came in. Was very hard to navigate without bumping into someone. Would go again, though.

Cute little historical candy store. Felt very special and nostalgic being there. Great options. But do wish they had more halal/vegan/pescatarian options . They also had ranges from other countries too which was a nice surprise.

Go grab lunch at Katz's then take a short walk over to Economy Candy! It is an icon. Candy from all over the world and completely nostalgic! The vibe in there is amazing and it is a hidden gem. If you are a candy lover, or just love to see classic places, this hits both of those niches. Great people, friendly NYC legacy. Make the side trip, you won't be disappointed.

This place is pretty sweet. Great selection of popular and non-traditional candy. It gets super busy and difficult to move around so be patient. The staff are super knowledgeable and the prices are pretty reasonable. The bulk options are great. Check it out!
Oct 21, 2025 -
The best candy selection you could hope for including candy by the pound! They even have Cadbury Cream Eggs year round. Your dentist will hate it, but your kids will love it.
Sep 16, 2025 -
I love this place! It has all the old time candies I remember growing up with. They also have candy from other countries. The first time I went was a week day so it was quiet and you could move around freely.Today I went on a Saturdy and it was crowded. Even though it was crowded, people were happy and the kids were excited. I went in just for chocolate coins for an upcoming party, which I got, but then ended up buying some favorites for family. Resses cups and pieces for my son, Necos wafers for Sis. Even bought a few things for myself( Twizzlers,Bit of Honey,Reeds Cinnamon Candy) Whether you buy directly or online( I've done this once) The candy is always fresh and sent in a timely manner when ordered online. So if your looking for a bit of nostalgia and those penny candies we used to buy after school everyday, this is your place.

The place had a wide variety of candies that i’ve never seen before. I found out about this place because my uncle would obsess over his chocolate turtles and needed to try some for myself. No complaints about the taste, but the price tag is hefty. The location isn’t in the best spot of Manhattan, as I’m not too familiar with the neighborhood. This isn’t their fault, but I would personally not visit here too often. The environment is not my cup of tea

Tiny store but packed to the brim with anything and everything your sweet tooth might like. Great place to find candy from your youth, current trending candy and all sorts of flavors and varieties you won't find elsewhere. The staff is excellent too. Definitely worth a visit.

Candy as far as the eye can see! Some classic candies, some international brands, and nostalgia. It is a fun place to visit.

It was one my final days in NYC and I wanted to find a traditional American candy store in order to bring back some treats. I couldn’t have found a more perfect place. Literally all the candy you can think of, you’ll find it here. Special shoutout to the girl who was at the till, she was super friendly/polite and helped me find what I was looking for. A must visit if you’re in NYC 🤍

Are you looking for a candy you had once back as a child? They will definitely have it here. From ceiling to floor, there are candies and chocolates of all forms and flavors. Im so excited for the sour candies I found. It's so much fun to just remember and recall the taste of those candies and see how they taste now as an adult. Good place to check out!

Just visited Economy Candy and absolutely loved it! I grabbed pounds of sour cola gummy bottles and stocked up on all kinds of nostalgic treats I haven’t seen in years. The place is packed wall-to-wall with candy, and it brought back so many memories. I’ll definitely be back!

By the color, by the pound, by the piece, any way you want to buy your candy, Economy Candy has got you covered. Since 1937, this candy store has been serving New Yorkers their favorite candies every day from 11-6pm. I’ve been coming to Economy for the last 15 years. I always find something new to try in the international Haribo and European candy and chocolate collections. They even some salty international and speciality snacks. They have a fresh chocolate case, at the cashier and dried fruits, nuts, and marble or vanilla Halvah in the back. There’s pick and mix, speciality nostalgic and novelty candy, the greatest hits from most major candy-producing countries. If you can’t find something you love, let them know. They will likely order it for you. This is a first-floor store-front. There are no stairs to enter or get around the store. It is a small space and tightly packed from floor to ceiling with all the candy you could imagine. The atmosphere here is fun, bright and joyful. Staff is always been helpful, patient, and informative.

Best family owned, candy store from 1937! The pure joy of the candy, decor and friendly people is with the visit. They have bulk and individually wrapped, old and new types of candy. If you are creating guessing that's for bridal or baby showers, or want party favors, this is the place to choose your fresh candy.

I stopped in at Economy Candy on the Lower East Side to pick up a few things for Easter. Opened in 1937, it is the oldest candy store in NYC, run by the Cohen family for three generations. They carry over 2,000 varieties of candies, chocolates, dried fruits and nuts - and some old-school brands you can’t find anywhere else!

The best candy shop I've ever visited. I was in NY from the UK and heard about this shop and I wanted to visit. I don't regret a thing! It was such a nice shop with so many types of candies from all around the world. I even found some candies that I used to eat during my childhood in France where I grew up. I always discovered vintage American candies that I never heard of. The pricing was very reasonable too and the staff was nice. Will come back again!

Economy Candy, nestled in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, is a true gem for anyone with a sweet tooth. This nostalgic, family-owned shop has been a beloved staple in the neighborhood for years, offering an incredibly wide selection of candy from all around the world. Whether you're looking for classic American sweets, rare international treats, or nostalgic favorites from your childhood, Economy Candy has it all. The store is packed to the brim with colorful displays of chocolates, gummies, hard candies, and nostalgic items you won’t find easily elsewhere. The variety of international candies is particularly impressive, with offerings from Europe, Asia, and beyond. It’s a paradise for candy lovers seeking unique and hard-to-find sweets. Beyond the selection, the experience is a bit like stepping into a time capsule of candy history. Whether you're grabbing a quick snack or shopping for a special gift, Economy Candy in the Lower East Side is a must-visit destination for anyone with a craving for something sweet.

Visiting Economy Candy in the East Village was like stepping into a time machine and reliving my childhood! The moment I walked in, I was surrounded by an incredible selection of candies that brought back so many memories. From vintage treats I hadn’t seen in years to fun new varieties, this place has it all. The variation is amazing and everything from classic chocolate bars and gummies to retro candies you thought were long gone. The shop is packed with goodies from every era, making it a true paradise for candy lovers of all ages. I felt like a kid all over again, marveling at all the nostalgic finds and indulging in favorites from my childhood. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. Economy Candy is more than a candy store; it’s a joyful experience that will make you smile.

Heard about this place on Instagram and I needed to go to exprience this unique candy store! It was all that I was expecting. There's a large variety of candies, both modern and old school! This is a good place to go with friends, family, or even yourself! You won't leave empty handed if you love candy and chocolate. I'm already planning my second trip.
