What clients say about The Wallace in New York (NY)
-
We stayed at The Wallace for two nights last month and had a great experience. The hotel feels stylish and welcoming, and the front desk staff were friendly and efficient. Our room was spacious, very clean, and the wooden floors were beautifully maintained. The shower had excellent water pressure, and we appreciated the thoughtful touches like slippers. The location is also very convenient. There’s a good Thai restaurant nearby, and just a short walk away, there are various bus lines, making it easy to get around the Upper West Side. We stayed during Valentine’s Day, and there was live music at the bar on the first floor in the evening, which created a lovely and romantic atmosphere. We would definitely stay here again on our next trip to New York!

The largest hotel room in New York that I have ever enjoyed! Staff is wonderful, lounge is beautiful, and the location is perfect. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Best place we have ever stayed in NYC, they were incredibly accommodating for my son taking the bar exam and having to change hotels. Also during the snow storm- fun door crew, great travel advice. Rooms super clean and surprisingly spacious.

Thoughtful Design and Genuine Hospitality on the Upper West Side Overall Experience I discovered this hotel by chance, but it became one of the most thoughtfully designed and guest-centered places I have stayed. Nearly all staff members were consistently kind and professional. During the snowstorm, housekeeping operations were understandably limited, yet staff proactively checked whether guests needed anything. That level of attentiveness stood out. I would especially like to acknowledge the doorman who assisted me on the evening of the 26th. He was consistently warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay. His professionalism and genuine kindness left a lasting impression. Room & Comfort The room reflects careful design. The layered window treatment (sheer, blackout, and exterior blinds) allows precise control of light. The bedding was exceptionally comfortable. The property was renovated in 2023, and its current freshness and quality are evident. Amenities & Lounge The bathroom amenities were excellent—so much so that I did not use the personal products I had brought. The lounge area is versatile and practical; during heavy snow, guests were able to relax and even have light meals there. The hotel appears to focus intentionally on room quality and guest comfort rather than traditional breakfast service, which I personally appreciated. Minor Notes There were small issues: the ice machine on the 8th floor can be somewhat loud, and the heating system occasionally makes brief noise when activating. Soundproofing is adequate but not perfect. None of these significantly affected my stay. Final Thoughts I would gladly return, especially because of the Upper West Side location, surrounded by excellent restaurants and cultural venues. The hotel combines thoughtful design with sincere hospitality, and I am grateful for the experience.

Had a fantastic stay at the beautiful Wallace Hotel. Small, friendly, classy, old school vibe hotel. Wonderful suite room, very little noise apart from the odd siren, lovely bar with live music and good cocktails. Couldn’t wait to get back to the hotel after a long day. Highly recommended.

My family and I have had a wonderful stay at the Wallace Hotel. It was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. We picked it for location— as we were doing a staycation while my husband had a conference, visited museums, and I caught up with some friends. The staff were pleasant and accommodating. I have been working in luxury hospitality as a brand trainer with emphasis on service standards and the team here really made the service feel friendly and down to earth while maintaining professionalism. The hotel was so clean, especially impressed with our room. Shout out to Jayshawn for putting a smile on my son’s face with a stuffed animal upon arrival. Betty was helpful with some questions and I did not catch the names of the houseman (on the evening of 2/15 and morning of 2/16) and gentleman at the front desk (on the AM of 2/16). Well done and thank you for a great stay.
Feb 17, 2026 -
Wonderful, refined hotel experience close to everything. Great staff, rooms, and lounge. The late night music scene in the lounge really added to our stay. Highly recommend.
Feb 15, 2026 -
The Wallace is a rare Upper West Side gem that swaps the cramped "New York vibe" for actual breathing room. The aesthetic is sleek, residential, and refreshingly quiet, making it a perfect refuge if you’re tired of the Midtown chaos. Rooms are massive with smart tech like dimmable lights and electronic shades. It’s the ultimate choice for travelers who value sleep and space over a flashy lobby scene.
Feb 13, 2026 -
Loved this property! Well located, friendly and accommodating staff that makes you feel welcomed every time you walk in and out of the hotel. Rooms are very nice and clean.

Owner Recommended I Cancel Instead of Addressing Staff Conduct I contacted The Wallace with routine pre-arrival questions and received rude, unprofessional written communication from Justin Cordaro (Director of Front Office). I escalated the issue to Victor Freeman (GM/Owner). He confirmed he reviewed the emails, dismissed my concerns, defended Justin’s behavior, and then advised that I cancel my reservation because he felt a satisfactory stay was unlikely. I have never in my life experienced this level of ineptitude or mishandling of a paying customer in the hospitality industry. Victor responded to my email inquiry by requesting a phone call. I politely declined and told him it was important I have documentation of our conversation for clarity. He didn’t like that at all. Mr. Freeman then proceeded to attempt to gaslight me by informing me that Justin’s behavior was great with 99.9% of the guests, but I located a March 2024 TripAdvisor review that calls Justin out by name for his unprofessional conduct. The level of snark and passive-aggression in Justin’s email was shocking, and I’m certain I’m not the only customer to have experienced it. You can’t hide that level of nastiness. It’s Justin’s nice-nasty duplicitous tone that seems to be confusing Mr. Freeman. I saw through it immediately. Highly rated properties only stay that way when they hold their staff to impeccable customer service standards. Based on my experiences with Justin and Victor, The Wallace is not that property. I’m a widely published luxury travel writer who writes under a pen name, so trust me on this. They’re missing some key ingredients at The Wallace. Don’t let bad vibes ruin your NYC trip. Lovely rooms only count for so much. I canceled, booked elsewhere and lodged a formal complaint with Expedia. If you expect basic professionalism and appropriate luxury hospitality standards, choose a different property. We’ll be staying at The Langham; their pre-arrival response and communication have been impeccable.

We absolutely loved our stay! The room was spacious and comfortable, and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. They were so welcoming to our dogs, which we really appreciated. Anytime we needed something - extra blankets, toilet paper, etc. - it showed up within minutes. Such a beautiful hotel in a great location. We can’t wait to come back!
Jan 20, 2026 -
We went there for drinks. The staff was friendly and attentive. Happy hour Drinks are ok. Glasses were cheap for the cocktail prices. The ambience of the place is chill and laid back. We went back after a show at the Beacon Theatre and missed the Music venue, as it appears you have to make reservations. Since the place is boutique-like. Overall, we had a good bar Hop experience.

The Wallace is an exceptional hotel with incredible staff that deserves more than a 5 star review. If you've ever been to NYC, you would know how hard it is to find a hotel that is bigger than the size of a shoebox, clean, furnished beautifully whilst also being appropriately priced. However, the Wallace has delivered in every aspect from its beautiful timber floors (very rare for hotels!) to spacious rooms, germaphobe approved bathroom and impeccable furniture. Everything was just so clean and perfect!!! Having visited during NYE, I also cannot stress how ideal of a location this is especially if you're looking for some peace from the hustle and bustle that is NYC. It's situated right next to the Museum of Natural History and Central Park. Also worth noting is how friendly and accommodating the entire staff are from the cleaners to front desk, to doormen. The gentleman who was at the front desk in the early morning of New Year's Day was so personable and lovely. If I'm ever back in NYC, the Wallace will hands down be my go-to hotel.

What a gem of a hotel! So hard to find such quality in the UWS. The hotel is so quiet and high end. Incredibly clean and luxurious rooms. Everything you need. Wonderful bathroom and showers. And the location is the best. Right next to Pain Quotidien and Broadway stores

I cannot speak highly enough of the Wallace! I stayed here for my second time, last week. Such a home away from home in busy, tiring, (wonderful) NYC! Very comfortable and warm even in cold, snowy, winter, Ideally located with so many useful shops/groceries/museums nearby, Truly warm, kind and helpful staff, who make you feel like every request is exactly what they were waiting to hear and help you with. Both times my room was upgraded and the staff made sure I could even get into my room well before the official 3pm entry (extremely helpful since I'd been in transit for nearly a full day, prior!). I recommend the Wallace regularly to friends and family, it is truly my only choice for where to stay in Manhattan!
Dec 21, 2025 -
Clean, beautiful rooms and wonderful service. The jazz bar was packed both nights - must get a resy in advance even for hotel guests. I loved the lux sheets, robes and technology upgrades in the room. We will be back when staying on the Upper West Side!

This has been my best stay in NYC so far. The facilities were modern yet warm and cozy. All the areas of the hotel were clean and all of us appreciated the hard floors in the rooms rather than carpet. It proved challenging to find rooms with 2 queen beds in the city and the Wallace delivered. I found the room spacious and comfortable. We also found the staff friendly and inviting. I look forward to staying there again!
Dec 12, 2025 -
Clean, quiet, and comfortable rooms. Very spacious considering it is in NYC. Service was 5 stars. The location was great, it felt safe and close to all the things we visited including public transportation. I will stay here again in the future and highly recommend to others.

We stayed here just for one night because we were seeing a concert at the Beacon Theatre. The theatre was a 3 minute walk from the hotel. The front desk staff were very pleasant, the rooms were extremely clean and recently remodeled, and everything was just fantastic overall. The location was GREAT! Just 3 blocks from the subway back to Penn Station. Will definitely stay again!

The Wallace went above and beyond for us during a difficult time after my wife’s surgery, showing genuine compassion and care that made all the difference. The staff were incredibly accommodating, anticipating our needs and ensuring her comfort with warmth and kindness that felt truly personal. The rooms themselves are immaculate—modern, spacious, and spotless—making it a peaceful and restorative place to stay.

Run, don’t walk, to this extraordinary Upper West Side gem. In the epicenter of the most beautiful part of the UWS—with quick access to Riverside Park, Central Park, Lincoln Center, among other gorgeous staples—the rooms are gorgeous, spotlessly clean, and well-appointed. Moreover, Joseph and Betty made our stay extraordinary. We are now coming back to stay for our wedding week next month and are counting down the days. I extended our stay with Joseph, who couldn’t have been more lovely, friendly, warm, and helpful. He went above and beyond.

The Wallace Hotel is nothing short of remarkable. The staff is warm, welcoming, and always makes me feel like I’m coming home to family. I’ve had the pleasure of staying here during my research visits with Columbia University Medical Center for my rare disease, and each stay has been exceptional. I’ve been fortunate to meet much of the wonderful team—from the front desk manager Justin to Melvina, Betty, and Juan—each of whom greets me with a smile and genuine kindness every time I visit. Their warmth and care truly make this beautiful boutique hotel feel special. I look forward my future stays here! Grateful! I’m deeply grateful to the staff at The Wallace for creating such a comforting and uplifting place to stay.

We are wrapping up a fabulous six-night stay at The Wallace. Its location is close to Central Park, the American Museum of Natural History and the 1,2, and 3 subway lines. Our room was comfortable, well-appointed, and immaculately clean. The gym, which we used every morning, is well-equipped and -maintained. And every member of the staff we interacted with, from the front desk folks to the cleaners, was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. We'd like to give a special shoutout to Betty, Durrell, Greg, Jaysean, and Elvia. Over the years, we have stayed at many hotels all over Manhattan and The Wallace is the best by far.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Wallace. The service was great, even though we arrived at 2am due to a flight delay. The room was very clean and felt recently updated. It was good for a baby too, with a nice crib and relatively sound proof walls. Finally, the location was great, just a 10 min walk to museums and Central Park. Would stay again!

We had a great stay at the Wallace Hotel! The location was great for our needs and the room was thoughtfully designed. There are many restaurants within walking distance which made dining out easy. We selected a few of our restaurants after reading the hotel blog which was really helpful. Big shout out to the housekeeping team! The room was very clean and our daily service was excellent. Housekeeping can make or break the experience and I really felt the service was impeccable. We had a suite, which was perfect for traveling with a teen. They had privacy to decompress and that worked well for us after busy days of sightseeing, visiting museums, and watching plays. The hotel feels very safe and it’s in a walkable area. All around it was a great stay and I highly recommend this hotel!

My wife and I had the opportunity to stay at the Wallace this past week. I was so pleased to find that my experience with the hotel was as good as so many previous reviewers. I am in NYC frequently for both business and fun and I have found few hotels if any offer the same quality at the price point of the Wallace. It’s a great place to stay! One note for people unfamiliar with New York. The location is on the Upper West Side. It’s a fantastic neighborhood but it’s not in the thick of the typical tourist centers like Times Square. For me, that’s a big plus. Central Park and Riverside Park are close by (I ran in both), there are hundreds of nearby restaurants, and Lincoln Center is just a few blocks away. The subway is also convenient and can be used easily to get anywhere you want. My wife and I went to Brooklyn to visit our daughter. All in all — a great visit.

What a beautiful property! I haven't stayed on the Upper West Side in ages and loved every minute. The lobby and bar have a very comfortable luxurious vibe. Our room was spotless, incredibly appointed. The views from our balcony were beautiful. The front desk staff were efficient, knowledgeable and friendly. We had an opportunity to discuss the solid marble reception area with the manager, Justin. Justin and his staff could teach other hotels the art of running a smooth, unobtrusive, professional, comfortable property. We will be back!

Absolutely, hands down, the best stay. The rooms were impeccably clean and beautifully designed. Lots of room for our family of four in the two bed suite. Staff was incredibly friendly, gracious and welcoming, and made sure we had everything that we needed. Located in a great neighborhood and only a few minutes walk to the Museum of Natural History, Central Park, Riverside Square Park, and many playgrounds, wonderful restaurants and shops, including a Fairway around the corner. We will definitely be back!

I rarely write reviews but we absolutely adored our stay at The Wallace. The rooms were beautiful and enormous by NYC hotel standards and the daily housekeeping was top notch and much appreciated. Everyone was super polite and helpful and it felt like walking into a beautiful oasis after a hot and busy day. The lounge is so special and the live music was a bonus. We didn't find the walls thin or other guests noisy, and we were right near the elevator. We will only ever stay at The Wallace after this fantastic experience!

Positive: Wonderful location. Staff couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. Loved the Queen 1 bedroom suite! Negative: No. Everything was very nice.
