What clients say about Summit Apartments NYC in New York (NY)

1-Star Review I rarely write reviews, but my experience at The Summit (222 E 44th Street) was so bad that I feel obligated to warn others. The building markets itself as a high-end luxury property, but what I experienced was the opposite. The biggest issue: bed bugs. I discovered them shortly after moving in, and dealing with it was an absolute nightmare. The management’s response was slow, dismissive, and unhelpful. Instead of taking immediate responsibility, the leasing office tried to deflect blame and dragged their feet on providing proper treatment. For the rent they charge, that level of negligence is unacceptable. To make matters worse, the leasing staff is extremely unresponsive and unprofessional. STEVE is the WORST customer facing rep I have ever felt with. Messages go unanswered for days, and when you do get a reply, it’s curt and unhelpful. They seem friendly when trying to get you to sign a lease, but once you’re in, you’re on your own. This building may look new and modern, but don’t be fooled—the lack of proper maintenance and poor management make it a stressful and unhealthy place to live. For the price, there are far better-managed luxury buildings in Midtown East.

I had anxiety and couldn't go up the elevator. There was an employee that gave us a private elevator to go up, and that was very much appreciated. If you have anxiety, talk to somebody, and they will help you. We didn't have to wait in the lines. The only thing is, is I was worried about the planes taking off and going back down the elevator. I will go back up it if I go back. 💯

There are serious noise issue due to the construction on the 43rd. In addition, the water quality here is of great concern. I ignored a previous review mentioning brown water and thought it is a one-off, but apparently it is still a problem since we see rust coming out of the water everyday.

Although its only been a month, but in addition to apartment comfort and convenience, great facilities, and friendly neighbors and staff, doormen are truly exceptional. Very happy with my time here!
Jul 27, 2025 -
Great staff at the Summit makes the experience of living in Midtown a more agreeable experience. Very reactive, always friendly. Great, well maintained amenities. Lived here for 4y.
Jul 18, 2025 -
I rented a studio in the Summit for the last 12 months. My end-to-end experience was simply amazing. The office staff, doormen, and maintenance crew were always helpful and very friendly. The building and views are breathtaking - and a very good value for Manhattan. The amenities are great - and when they weren't available, I did not find it problematic. My whole experience will be a terrific lifelong memory. I will never forget going to sleep looking at the Chrysler Building. Overall a blessing to have the opportunity to live at the Summit NYC. Thank you everyone! The Bargers

William Simpson, the leasing agent at Summit, is brilliant. He expertly guided me through the building and all available units (multiple days in a row) with patience and kindness. He was able to provide vital information about the building and it’s management history, which made me feel comfortable enough to make an informed decision based on facts rather than just a beautiful apartment. Did I mention the apartments are beautiful?! Because they are. He was really thorough and made apartment hunting fun. He didn’t put any pressure on me to make a decision and even encouraged me to look at reviews which is a sign that the building has nothing to hide. Bottom line: book a tour with William, you won’t regret it.

I had the pleasure of working with William during my leasing process, and I couldn’t be more impressed. From the very beginning, he was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly responsive. He took the time to answer all my questions and walk me through multiple apartments thoroughly and made what can often be a stressful experience feel seamless and straightforward. VERY HELPFUL & HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Just writing to absolutely praise the leasing agent William. He is truly an amazing guy—super helpful throughout my lease at Summit. He always puts the clients first with a positive attitude and mindset! Whether it was answering questions quickly, helping with paperwork, or ensuring a smooth move-in process, he made everything stress-free. He goes out of his way to help. Highly recommend working with him!

Apts are ok but small & manangment are crooks. I lived there for a year and they claimed damage to the floors to "steal" 2500 from my security deposit. i have pictures to refute this. this is well known throughout the building. Its absolutely criminal what they try and get away with
Feb 01, 2025 -
Both William and Steven were very friendly, communicative and knowledgeable from the beginning through until the end of the rental process. Additionally, the building was extremely well kept, from the lobby to all the amenities, I was very impressed at how clean the building was. Overall I highly recommend this building to anyone who is looking to rent in NYC.

I had the pleasure of working with William Simpson, and he is truly an outstanding Leasing Agent! Having been in this industry for five years, I know how rare it is to find someone who genuinely puts themselves in the client’s shoes and goes above and beyond to ensure a smooth process—William is one of those rare gems. My client’s case was particularly complex, involving a guarantor and multiple layers of verification. Throughout the process, William remained highly professional, continuously brainstorming solutions with us to navigate the challenges. Not only was he responsive during working hours, but he also went the extra mile by answering messages after hours—even in the middle of the night—demonstrating his dedication and commitment. On top of that, his patience in handling every detail and ensuring clear communication was truly commendable. Thanks to his full support and cooperation, my client was able to get approved in just two days, which is truly remarkable. If you’re looking for a Leasing Agent who is professional, patient, and truly dedicated to his work, William Simpson is the one you can always count on.

Working with William as the agent for the Summit apartment was an absolute pleasure. From the very beginning, his professionalism and attention to detail stood out. William took the time to understand my needs, answer all my questions, and guide me through every step of the process with patience and expertise. What impressed me most was his proactive approach—always staying one step ahead to ensure everything went seamlessly. Whether it was addressing concerns, coordinating with multiple parties, or offering valuable advice, William handled it all with ease and efficiency. His dedication to providing top-notch service and ensuring I got the best possible outcome was remarkable. William turned what could have been a daunting process into a smooth and enjoyable experience. If you’re seeking a reliable and results-driven agent, William is the person to trust!

Great team here and first-rate building. Amenities include everything: pool, jacuzzi, cold plunge, steam room, sauna, basketball court, squash court, golf simulator, etc. Most importantly, the amenities are very well-maintained. Apartment staff is responsive and kind. Solid location away from the hassle of midtown but still with easy access to Grand Central.
Nov 12, 2024 -
William is one of the most attentive leasing agents I’ve worked with in this City. He made sure my move-in was as smooth as possible; and when I had to move out early, he was on top of the situation and helped me find a lease assignee incredibly fast! Definitely leaving with a great impression of the building.
Sep 28, 2024 -
From the moment William first showed us the building, I could clearly feel his enthusiasm and professionalism. He tirelessly showcased every detail of the building, which is something hard to find among many agents in the city. The entire signing process went smoothly as we worked together, and I am very grateful to William and his team. Summit will always be my top recommendation to clients. With top-notch amenities and condo-quality standards, the most important thing is the professional and warm service provided to tenants. It truly offers great value for money.
Aug 17, 2024 -
Nice apartments at first glance but they are cheaply made and the location leaves a lot to be desired. It does not feel safe at night around surrounding area. I almost rented here but did not based on horror stories about treatment of tenants and staff. Be wary of the leasing team. The new leasing “professionals” are very aggressive and dishonest.
Nov 01, 2023 -
BE AWARE!!!! FACIAL RECOGNITION!!! NOT EVEN AN ADVISE BEFORE YOUR RESERVATION telling you will be scanned before entering the building. At the entrance there is NO SIGNS telling you why you will being scanned!!!!! Scanned the face in 3D and Eyes prints!!!! I spent ONE FULL hour to get scanned and 45 minutes for the visit!!!! To me it is a DATA collection system that's been collected and sold to the governments. If you don't wish to be tracked and traced ALL OVER THE WORLD. DON'T GO THERE.

Best decision ever!!! One of the best place to overlook NYC and being awe-struck with the beauty of this amazing city.

This building is to die for! The leasing team is so professional and helpful especially Will. I came for a tour at the early stages of an apartment search and ultimately realized there was no better building/ with amenities and chill midtown east location as the summit. The views of the Chrysler building are the icing on the cake but the whole building in general is amazing.
Feb 03, 2023 -
William from leasing and everyone on the property was so helpful and chill in the application process. I ended up finding a place right next to my office on the other side of town and had to take it, but everything about my experience going (nearly) all the way through to signing made me feel very comfortable in the integrity of the people in leasing and the quality of the units and facilities (which were among the best I saw out of the many buildings I toured in midtown)

I just moved in and love it so far. I had to find an apartment very quickly (from out of state), and Christina ensured the process went smoothly from start to finish. She was professional, communicative, and ensured I would meet my timeline, which was greatly appreciated. Her willingness to go above and beyond to help me, only solidified that I was making the right decision in making the SUMMIT my home. I am so excited and look forward to meeting my neighbors.

Brilliant attraction ! Staff are amazing particularly Sonia & Flow ( on the out side bar - house keeping management ) & Anthony who was patient & amazing & super helpful at the photo booth processing part of the experience ! Something different than the normal & the ballon room is brilliant for kids so they feel included in the experience too ! Really happy at the prices of the pre fix photos to - not a rip off ( as expected if I’m honest) clean ! Over all great experience

I had the best experience with Summit NYC’s leasing office; Matthew and Christina were welcoming, kind, knowledgeable, and acted as my own personal advocates toward viewing, selecting, and going through the approval process for my new Summit apartment lease. Matt gave me the most thorough tour and answered all my questions, and encouraged me to go with my instincts regarding the building, the neighborhood, and the right unit for me. When the perfect unit at Summit did become available, he was delighted for me. Matt personally took charge of any questions or uncertainties that arose through the third-party approval site, and did everything possible to make things smooth. Matt and Christina were always available immediately to me if I called the office with concerns or updates. I knew I was in the best of hands, and I was right!

Good experience and wasn’t as packed. Takes a long time to go trough facial scanning which is useless and not needed. The photos that they take are not really good. The space itself is smart but could be a bit better arranged. VERY BRIGHT bring sunglasses!!
Nov 28, 2021 -
The Summit experience was unexpectedly gimmicky. We were very surprised at the cattle car feeling we experienced. From the 40-minute wait to the mandatory photo ops, I was surprised and disappointed every step of the way. There is no reason to chose The Summit over any other tower experience in Manhattan. It felt like a weird Disneyland tourist trap. Why not offer customers the option of simply taking the elevator without the silly sound effects and photo ops. Maybe some want that, but certainly, not all!

Moved into the summit when it first opened a couple years back. Since moving back recently, the service of the building has improved tremendously thanks to the always great doormen and the new building manager Matthew. Have recommended the building to friends and would continue to.
Oct 19, 2021 -
I have had a great experience living here so far. The staff work hard to keep the building in pristine condition. All the doormen are all extremely kind and helpful. Shawn and Alex are excellent at communicating. I love the pop-up events that are arranged for the residents, it's a great opportunity to get to know our neighbors!
Sep 07, 2021 -
we have a very positive experience to share. The modern building is one of the best in NY. Location and amenities are amazing, comparable or better than Hudson yard buildings. Entire staff is very helpful and gives personalized service. Leasing office is busy but they make sure that everyone is taken care off. Matthew and Alex T Are exceptional and without their efforts we probably wouldn’t have found and moved in our apartment.

Growing up and living in NYC- from tiny studios as a first-gen immigrant in East NY and Cypress Hill, to condos, co-ops and rental buildings in some of the most sought after buildings with celeb clientele, I can safely say this building fits closest with my coming to America 'East NY' experience. No thanks. The management is atrocious, and I'm usually one to overlook management for aesthetic. Not a good area at all. Just move to Hudson Yards and join the Equinox+ there - it costs the same price as amenities at Summit and the Equinox is much nicer with its outdoor pool and outdoor sauna pods. Plus you'll live in a much better area with cooler stuff around and probably in a much better managed, still new, building.
