On Christmas Day I encountered a flat tire due to a nail while I was driving in downtown Manhattan. since it was Xmas day AAA was heavily delayed so I looked up this place in Chinatown and they were open for business. They plugged the tire for $20 in less than 10 minutes. Super helpful and saved the day for me.
Unbelievable. Amazingly fast service. They get right to the point and start working. I got my vehicle state inspection here and it was convenient as there aren’t too many places that do it in the congestion zone anymore. Bring cash.
Easy inspection. Needed front plate mounted, moving from another state, charged an extra $10 for that, which I thought was reasonable. Will be going back next year. Cash only!
I had a very unpleasant experience here. The staff were quite rude and dismissive. I regret not reading the reviews earlier. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning.
I came here for a motor vehicle inspection.
They work on Sunday.
Process is quick like 20 minutes.
37 for inspection and 10 for plates replacement.
People here are nice, they might sound rude in an English speaking but they are good people in heart.
Went there for an inspection, waited a little bit and service was prompt and professional. This is one of few business in Chinatown/Lower Manhattan that does auto repair.
Super quick NYS inspection without an appointment. Only 4 stars because it’s cash only, and it’s not the easiest to find an ATM in Chinatown if you don’t speak Mandarin. Otherwise they were great!
Decent work but added a “parking fee” after I paid that was half the overall fee he had quoted me, refused to hand back the key otherwise. Not trustworthy, never going back again!
The best i have seen , no nonsense just great service I called ask for a time he told me come in I was there in five minutes he performed the inspection quick no problems and was out in 20 minutes , great service and you can used the 20 minutes to shop in china town
It looks like the guys know what they are doing. Came to them for oil change 2 times and one for inspection. It has never took more than 30 min to have a job done, while you can "enjoi" some area of China Town.
I came to this mechanic in January to have my vehicle inspected. I arrived about 8:30 am. The shop opens at approximately 9:00 am and my car was inside being inspected within five minutes after they opened. I was out of the shop within 20 minutes. I had no problem communicating with the mechanic. I will definitely be returning for my inspection in the future.
Came to get state inspection. Waited patiently while the one guy there ignored me standing there and rearranged other cars. After about 10 minutes I tried to ask him whether he could do the inspection and he just rudely waived me away with a flick of the hand. Will not be coming back.
Fast and efficient....I noticed some other comments and was worried so I spoke to him - he wont pass you obviously if you have tinted windows. His English is super limited.
Came here today to get my Audi ETron inspected! They were super helpful and I was in and out in 10 mins! $37 cash only and it’s in Chinatown so I felt super safe and taken care of. The guys don’t speak much English but if you say state inspection they understand it and will help you the best they can. :)
If you do not speak Chinese/mandarin, don’t bother going here. They cannot communicate in English at all! The mechanic approached me as soon as I pulled up while smoking a cigarette. He was literally smoking in my face and never stopped even though I was coughing so much I could barely speak (i have asthma and I’m allergic to cigarettes). I told him I was there for a state inspection and he simply dismissed me saying something along the lines of “windows dark. Go somewhere else.” The whole encounter was just weird and unsettling. Given his behavior, i wouldn’t trust him anywhere near my car, so, I drove off. Sketchy neighborhood too.
Went here for an emissions test. Don't speak Chinese but my request was simple enough, and they were nice staff.
Mechanic finished the test in maybe 15-20 mins and I had no problem.
As an aside I was able to go across the street where there were all these trucks selling fruit and vegetables, so I got some groceries out of the way at the same time!
They did ok with the inspection which went smoothly — but I made the mistake of trying to get a small repair done while there (replacing a broken back door handle - I had the parts with me). Communication was challenging (I don’t speak Chinese) and while the mechanic spent a long time trying to do the job he clearly was over his head. After two hours I left with a bad, unacceptable cobbled-together solution and was just glad to get out of there with a car door that stays shut - the handle still doesn’t work so it was a total waste of time. I can’t imagination them doing a critical repair. Be forewarned - what you see is what you get - maybe ok to change a tire or give you a jump start - other than that I’d look elsewhere.
Really rude service. Apparently you have to wait around or else they yell at you and charge you extra if you return a little bit after their job is done. There is no place to sit or even stand around in the shop. What do they expect us to do?? Literally stand there and watch them? Be sure to check with them whether you need to stand there and wait for them; they don't tell you beforehand.
I needed an immediate inspection because it expired the same day I brought it in to Bridgeview Auto. Eddie the mechanic there refused to take my money because I’m an ICU nurse. I explained that I really appreciate the gesture but wanted to pay knowing how badly businesses are suffering during this time from the covid19 pandemic, especially in Chinatown due to inaccurate and unacceptable stigmas. Eddie was not only professional and efficient but also a kind and generous example of New York’s best!
I dont know the guys name but he was extremely proficient. I just got my car inspected here today. The shop opens at 9 and being that I was there early at 8 he opened up and took my car out at 810 I was finished in like 20 minutes. Of course I tipped.
I misunderstood how much an inspection would cost when I called so when I question this when I got there the man yelled at me and told me to leave. I honestly asked in a very polite way and I asked if he would like to perform the inspection anyway and he said no leave. Go to ludow garage. They have always been kind.
