What clients say about Target in New York (NY)
-
The service is excellent and there is a good selection of foods available.

Staff was EXTREMELY helpful and very friendly. Very patient and accommodating. Both elevators and escalators are available, with clear signage nearby to inform shoppers of the contents of each floor. The store itself is spacious and does not feel hectic or chaotic, even with lots of shoppers simultaneously shopping. There are a generous amount of self checkout lanes and cashiers, eliminating wait times.

•Great option for buying basic food items and home goods. •Store is not as big as the usual Targets but nice to have this option near Central Park and Times Square. •Helpful staff, organized aisles. •Was able to buy some yogurts, drinks, and frozen/ready-to-bake items.

their phone rings for like three straight minutes and then auto-hangs up on you store itself is fine but i'm really mad about this, like why even have a phone number
Jan 23, 2026 -
You know what to expect from target and I got everything I needed, staff was helpful, and was out pretty quickly.
Dec 31, 2025 -
honestly cute target not many selections but it doesnt the job for the most part
Dec 24, 2025 -
Horrible experience with same day delivery service with a driver who completely ignored the delivery window and who then cancelled my order when I wasn’t available to accept it. Very very disappointing and customer service were no help whatsoever. Won’t be shopping here again.
Dec 02, 2025 -
Target has a major problem with on-line purchases for large items. They send the item in the manufacturer's box and do not give you the option of having them put in a shipping box. Consequently the 3 or 4 times I have experienced this the box is pretty badly beaten up and I have to get the item which is a present somewhere else . AMAZON almost always gives me the option to have a large product sent in a shipping box for added protection and so what is inside the box is hidden when it is delivered. Each time I call Target about this for the last few years there is nothing the customer service rep can do to help. I would prefer to buy from Target than AMAZON but in this case AMAZON provides better customer.

Recently visited NYC for a long weekend, stayed at a nearby hotel and wound up shopping at this Target to pick up a few items. It was nice to have a Target within walking distance. However, it was somewhat annoying that quite a few items (including certain groceries... yes, groceries!) are under lock and key, which is something I don't have to deal with at the Target back home. There were two different places where I had to track down an employee to unlock items for me, so the trip took significantly longer than it should have. I feel like there could be more effective ways to handle security here... otherwise, no complaints.

Beware the Produce section: I bought a bag of grapes and when I got home, found a used lollipop stick had been shoved in it. I’m still gagging just thinking about it.
Sep 29, 2025 -
Low stock everything. It’s obnoxious. Get your logistics right! I came for cat litter and ended up leaving empty handed because they had ZERO cat litter. Save your time and go to cvs Walgreens anywhere.
Sep 27, 2025 -
I came here to buy a new PS5 controller, stood around for 10 minutes waiting for someone to unlock the case. No one showed up, I went to a different store and I'll never consider this one again.
Aug 21, 2025 -
The staff here are unbelievably rude. I came in just to grab some body wash, and the girl working downstairs had a terrible attitude completely unprofessional. I stood around waiting for 15 minutes before anyone even bothered to show up. If this is how customers are treated, I won’t be coming back.
Jul 25, 2025 -
Visited this store several times during my stay in NYC. Was able to get lots of snacks and drinks for our hotel room and the location was perfect from our room. Safe and nice area. Store very clean and well stocked.
Jul 20, 2025 -
If you like to pay via the target app and get 5% off you simply can’t do it at this store. The store simply has no phone service so you can’t connect to the app. It’s so incredibly frustrating. They push for this card and then prevent you from using it. This happens to my friends as well and it’s an issue in a lot of Manhattan stores. It’s really bad design.
May 13, 2025 -
Horrible shopping experience and the store manager, Felicia, should be reprimanded or demoted. Nowhere on Target’s return policy (their website) does it explicitly state that an electronic can’t be returned without the original packaging.
Apr 29, 2025 -
On March 11, 2025 between 11:20 am - 12:00pm, a Customer service cashier would not let me return a target brand pajama set for store-credit, without proof of purchase (even though I have my ID and that is company policy). The cashier told me this location has a “different policy” and refused to budge on the return, and told me to try another location. A quick google search / reading the Target website clearly explains the cashier was lying.

Stopped in here to purchase slippers after seeing The Nutctacker on 12/17/2024 as my daughter couldn’t walk another block in heels! ? Checkout line was long but moved quickly.
Jan 29, 2025 -
Target on Broadway is conveniently located and central, making it a good option if you're nearby. However, the selection of fresh items and foodstuff is quite limited. There’s also a large variety of clothes, but the queues can get pretty long. Overall, it’s fine for a quick stop, but not the best if you're looking for a wide range of groceries or a smooth shopping experience.
Jan 28, 2025 -
I went to target to exchange an item for a different size. I didn’t have the receipt but provided my passport, visa, and foreign ID (DNI) as valid identification. The employee told me they couldn’t process the exchange because I “was not from the U.S.” The worst part wasn’t the refusal but the rude and dismissive attitude I received. I felt disrespected and discriminated against for no reason. This experience was extremely disappointing and unacceptable.
Jan 25, 2025 -
I was parked at this location on June 29, 2022, at 10:40 PM in an area clearly marked with a taxi stand sign. At that time, a couple of Target employees approached me and informed me that I needed to move my vehicle because the area was designated as a truck loading zone. However, the sign clearly indicated it was a taxi stand, not a truck loading area. It seems the employees were blocking the designated taxi stand, which is an issue of improper signage and miscommunication. This situation was both confusing and frustrating, and I believe the area should be properly marked and enforced to avoid future issues.

12/27/24 just came from this Target after trying to buy items. Needless to say I didn't buy anything because of useless employees. I was at checkout and needed help but no one paid attention to the fact I asked for help. My register was showing "red" blink light. There were 2 employees RIGHT NEXT TO ME and did nothing. I even did "come on!" And still nothing, not even acknowledge me. I then decide to take my items and check out with a cashier but then thought WHY? This store does not deserve my hard earned money. And just walked out. Never coming here again. Useless waste of time.
Dec 27, 2024 -
fairly small Target—it is below street level. subterranean convenience shopping in the Upper West Side / Lincoln Square area. the grocery area seems to be the largest area and has all your standard food items which works for me. this Target is fairly compact. not many employees, but self checkout is a breeze. not much to say about this Target except it’s a decent place to shop if you’re in the area.
Oct 24, 2024 -
It’s so discouraging trying to shop here. Target used to be the place you’d go to get everything you need in a broad range of categories and also pick up a bunch of stuff you didn’t know you needed until you saw it. This Target turns that on its head - most of what you need is not stocked. And alternately, often something you can only get at a Target, say Harry’s razors or something similar, is locked up but no one here is EVER available to unlock the cabinet for you unless you literally stalk and corner a manager and beg for help, which just feels like a huge bummer, I don’t want to harass Target employees. Why have stuff stocked that you won’t let customers buy? Why not have the store staffed such that there are staff available to help customers access stock that has to be locked in cases? Today 3 separate employees walked by myself and 3 other customers waiting by the shaving and deodorant cabinets promising to get someone with a key and after about 15 mins we all gave up. So done with this store, feel really bad for the employees.
Oct 22, 2024 -
Such a time suck. I needed something locked up and after 5 minutes tracked someone down. After another five minutes he finally came back “nobody has the key”. Nobody has the key? How could nobody have the key? “Well there’s two keys downstairs and no keys upstairs”. Uh-huh. Well can we ask one of the people with the keys downstairs to come upstairs? You agree there is probably a solution here other than you can’t buy this product. “Um yeah hold on”. Finally gave up on him and found another person who called for someone with a key to come upstairs and unlock different cabinets for all the people waiting. It’s completely inane. They can’t be losing more money in theft than people walking out of the store. Stay away from this location if you need anything in product jail or build in an extra half hour for your errand.

Where do I start? This particular location has gone downhill and at this point, I am convinced that I should take my business elsewhere. This week I placed an order for pickup. The pickup process was straightforward with no issues, however, when I got to the main floor, I briefly placed my 6 Target bags down to quickly make sure that I received all of the items that I purchased. Most of my purchases are for “order pickup”, so this is a regular habit for me. The associate on the floor (I found out that they were “Security”) approached me and asked, "What I am doing?" and before I could respond, stated that “No one was allowed to “hang out” in this area”. Confused, I replied that I just picked up my order and wanted to briefly review it before exiting the store. The associate completely disregarded my explanation and stated AGAIN, that “No one is allowed to hang out in this area”. This employee was nasty!! I understand that there may be an issue with people loitering in their store, however, it was clear, well at LEAST TO ME, that I was a paying customer, not someone whose intention was to “hang out” in the store. What makes this matter worse, was when I spoke to the Manager, they made all kinds of excuses for the employee. After this discussion, it was very clear that the customers are expected to “hurry up and buy” and exit their store. We are not allowed to review our orders, or during bad weather, wait for our Ubers; no, we must leave IMMEDIATELY!! Target, this is no way to treat your customers! This is unacceptable! Just in March, I spent over $700 at this location. I am a regular, not someone who is “hanging out” in their store (ex: homeless, students, door dash workers, etc). It is clear that Target hired a bunch of simpletons, who are unable to distinguish between a paying customer and someone who has no intention of patronizing their store. Please avoid this location if you can! The decline in sales will hopefully teach them to treat their customers better!

Target sold me moldy watermelon, which I accidentially ate, and I'm already ill. I am very sick and can barely walk (severe anemia). Today, in an effort to try and get stronger/healthier, I walk 4 blocks to target and get some drink and fruit. It's hard for me to think clearly, so I dont examine the watermelon carefully before purchasing it. I just grab it and go. I walk a few blocks back to my house, sit, and start eating the watermelon. After a few bites I realize it tastes.. spicy? I look at it, and I've swallowed 4 day expired moldy watermelon. I'm too weak to walk back to the store. I've spent all the strength I had. And what are they gonna do anyway? Refund me 6$? For the pain that it would cause me to walk back there without collapsing? I swear, nowhere in new york has fresh food anymore. Every other restaurant and grocery store is serving so much expired food. I better not get sick from eating this mold.

Very busy target but has a lot of options especially grocery compared to other targets. It gets pretty busy too!

I was excited since it’s near to my house, always out of stocks, shelf in every sections are pretty empty. This is part of home (bath) section and it was Monday morning.
