I’ve been a Chase customer since March and have maintained a solid credit score. I only have one credit card, and I’ve tried twice to apply for a higher-tier card to avoid foreign transaction fees since I often have expenses abroad. Both times, my applications were denied for the same reason: “not enough credit history.” Yet my roommate got approved for the same card after just three months!
I scheduled an appointment with my banker to understand what was going on, and to my surprise, she told me:
They can’t tell me why my previous applications were declined,
They can’t tell me whether I’d be approved if I apply again,
And they can’t share what criteria are used to determine approval.
So basically, I’m expected to apply a third time, risk another denial, and watch my credit score drop again, all without any visibility or guidance?
To make things worse, my own banker even suggested that I “consider the pre-approved offers” I’ve been receiving from Bank of America instead. Absolutely disappointing experience, zero transparency, zero support.
Came here to cash a check from grandma that got a little wet, $50. Bank refused and put a stamp on it, should’ve just tried the phone in the first place, went through no problem!
Asked for name of staff but they refused to provide it.
they convice my parent to open credit card, didnt bother to give them information like account number? leave them hanging try to call their branch but no one answer what the point having a phone line. GET PEOPLE TO OPEN ACCOUNT AND NOT TAKING THE RESPONSBLE AFTERWARD. THIS BRANCH is the worse!!!
I hate having to go to this bank as ATMs are always working when they feel like it. There is always a sign about 1 of them partially out of order. Their security guard is not there as often which makes it feel less secure with all the foot traffic. Chase please fix your machines. The only ATM working is behind the locked doors...

The most difficult credit card on the planet to obtain, i have credit cards from every other major bank and american express but still get denied from chase
OMG. I can't believe that I lose more than 5k DOLLARS after I opened an investment account with UNA CHEN for one year. Having her as my financial advisor, I am feeling like throwing my money in the garbage!!! Also, I’m a private client. My banker Rachel Wu and my financial advisor Una Chen never reply my calls and emails. This is the way how they treated private clients. I see. Keep away from this branch.
the person who helped, white european guy or russian, had no idea what he was doing whatsoever. Im not exagerating but the people there are very incompetent. dont go to this chase
Don’t come here or if you do, don’t try opening a business account with an incompetent employee there named Alex (forgot his Chinese name). He was rude, not helpful at all, and doesn’t know what he’s doing. I would have went to another branch or another bank entirely but already have a credit card with chase so decided to open a checking account as well. Anyways, in the end I’ll probably have to close these account because that guy did something where I got mail a week later telling me they have incomplete or incorrect information so they are going to close the account unless I give them some sort of Id which I already did at the branch. The worst ever..
We arrived at the bank before 2:30pm. I told the employee there that I want to open a student checking account. He told me that due to the pandemic, the bank would be closing at 3:00. Since opening an account will take about 45 mins to an hour, they cannot help me. He advised me to come back on Monday instead. In order to open a student account, I need to bring my daughter with me since she is still minor. It is hard to find a time that works as I have to work during week days. A little frustrated, we walked over to the Chase branch on Canal Street and Mott. That branch was scheduled to close at 3:00pm as well. When I asked if I can still open a bank account, I got an answer yes. We finish everything in 40 mins and walked out of the branch at 4:15pm. I don’t know how I should feel about my experience. Was it just that employees at Grand st branch are lazy and not willing to get off work 15 mins later? Was it that a student account is too small for them to put in a little more effort and a regular account was worthy? Anyway, Anna Lin at the Canal and Mott branch is very nice and helpful. We are definitely not going back to the Grand Street branch.
The staffs were really helpful. I’ve been with Chase for so many years and their customer service has always been awesome. I created two credit cards and one checking with one of their associates. She was so kind and explained to me my rewards and things I had to be aware of to avoid extra charges. Love them!
Went there. Guy received me and went to the cabin to ask the lady if she want to open my account. The lady was so lazy, she was not doing anything and waiting to go home at 4 when I went there at 3 pm. She told the guy to tell me to come tomorrow because opening account will take time. Thank you!
I ask them if I can exchange currency they said no because i needed a credit card which I got that part they don't explain why and i need a credit card. I asked them why they told to leave on a unprofesional way and the pushed me and shoved me through out of the foot and slamed the door on my face.

This is the best Chase location I've ever known. All the staff are very personable, helpful and knowledgeable. A fast service with nice smile always. They save my time and fund tremendously for my business and personal banking. THank you!
I'm not quite sure about slow at this particular branch but definitely the Capitol One bank next door to it is slower than the current subway system. Lol... Anyway not just this branch but the Chase bank corporation in whole is the best customer service and bank system I ever experience. Yeah maybe a few human being over there may not be the best as service but honestly you really don't want to deal nor put up with a you can't expect first class service from something so third world like HSBC banking system. So count your blessings because you are in better hands with Chase than HSBC.
