What clients say about Brooklyn Fare in New York (NY)

Been coming here for 4 years and have really loved it. When i first moved to the area, the prices were great and lowest in the area. However i noticed in the last year or so they continue to up the price of everything and specifically the rotisserie chicken. it used to be $7.99 and now it’s $11.50 depending on the day. So dissapointing. Editing as of a week after my original review, prices went up again!

Way more expensive than wholefoods and Morton Williams. Its actually the most expensive supermarket is the hells kitchen neighborhood and I’ve been to them all in the 15 yrs living in this neighborhood. As far as customer service and security, I don’t have a problem with. I understand they’re just doing their jobs. Sometimes statistics make certain policies seem harsh but its good to be cautious given the crimes committed around the clock in NYC. I don’t feel intimidated because I have nothing to hide.

Nice supermarket however they’re not very friendly. You have the big buff security guards standing by the camera guarding the building. They think everybody is stealing and they got the young girls with the long lashes who are rude. These people should probably take a customer service class.

What a wonderful market. They even extended the OTC card, that is so nice. Great Job!!!!!!!!

One of my favorite grocery stores in the area - clean, well stocked and very reasonable prices given the location. Also, in the rare event I arrive shortly before closing hours (sorry, sometimes it happens), nobody ever gives me wry faces or chases me out. Quite the opposite, I've only dealt with polite and patient, laid back staff. Thank you.

I noticed pretty much the same problem as this comment from: Jacqueline Cadwelle (This supermarket is very prejudiced, they don't like to help us black people, they will just watch you and look you up and down as if you are stealing. They don't greet you, they just tell you the price and ask if you want a bag, I will not shop here again. The power is always off, they are constantly having their own conversations at the checkouts and the security guards will make you feel uncomfortable by watching you the whole time you are shopping and looking at you. They have a whole new staff which is all they need to work on their personality and work environment.) the customer service is not at all operational really not at all I asked for help with an item they were not even able to help me anymore they prefer to talk among colleagues they clearly told me no to manage on your own frankly it is really unpleasant disastrous after I don't mention the whole team, but a very large part. In short, I'm disappointed.

Rustic supermarket.competitive prices. Very clean!! Organized and lots of products including ready to eat food.sushi soups cooked meats with veggies pastas etc. And the service is always with a smile.

Big fan. Lots of food and good choices in a surprisingly large grocery store, that looks small from the street. Just about everything you'd need from a food perspective. Prices are surprisingly good for NYC. Glad I went and bought food for a week's visit.

This supermarket is very prejudice they do not like to help us black ppl they will just watch you and look at you up and down as if you stealing . They don’t greet you they just tell you the price and ask if you want a bag , I will not be shopping here anymore . The energy is always off, they constantly just having they own conversations at the registers and the security guards will make you feel uncomfortable grilling you the whole time you shopping and watching you . They got a whole new staff who is only they kind they need to work on they personality and work environment.

They have the BEST products and are always FRESH. The employees atmre do polite and helpful. I always go out of my way to shop there. Pasting the supermarket that is across the street from me

The deals always beat Morton Williams prices down the block! I’ve also been relying on their hot food buffet ? Ate from the hot buffet at least twice this week & I was surprised with how flavorful and the diverse hot food options they had. I don’t know why I used to get Morton Williams unseasoned buffet. Way to go Brooklyn Fare ??

They almost always never have the items listed in the circular. They don't give rain checks, nor do they try to get the items for the customer. They say that they have discounts on certain days for certain customers, but they don't. I asked one guy (who spoke fairly good English) about the days, and he told me that give the discounts at the register; there was no need for registration nor proof: hospital staff, students, seniors, first responders, etc... The place is clean and the food looks great. I would have given it a 4, but the negatives took away points.
Aug 03, 2024 -
Honestly, best prices on upper west side. People and staff are very nice. If your on a budget, I don't believe you can do better price wise. I like Fairway, but with Biden's inflation, and myself being a disabled vet, I can't afford to shop their anymore. If Brooklyn Fare wasn't there, I would be in trouble.

I had gone to Morton Williams for a few years and someone told me about Brooklyn Fare. So I gave it a try. I originally liked it though finding anything was an adventure. Seems there is no logic to what is placed where. But, the lines were fairly short and the cashiers efficient and usually friendly. After shopping there and still at Morton Williams I discovered that Brooklyn fare was actually more expensive in many items and that they raise and lower the prices at will. For example, a bagel can be .75 one day and .90 another. When I mentioned that the eggs I like were $2 less at Morton Williams, one of the employees quickly pointed out and handed me a dozen that were on sale and seemingly cheaper except, they weren’t the same brand and they were medium rather than extra large. Overall, I am pretty disappointed with the place. I am mostly back at Morton Williams with the wider aisles, the easier shopping and the basically same high prices.
May 18, 2024 -
Great alternative to Morton Williams. Excellent selection including Organic and gluten free options. Clean store pleasant team who is attentive to your needs(pay attention Morton Williams). Great take-out section if that's what you need to take over to the Plaza area of Waterline Plaza. Excellent seafood department with attentive team members behind the counter. If anything I feel it continues to evolve to support good shopping habits and experiences in the neighborhood. Additionally I feel the people working the many departments throughout are very personable and making the time spent in the store well worth the trip!

Brooklyn Fare is not your average grocery store; it transcends the mundane experience of shopping for daily necessities and transforms it into an awe-inspiring adventure. I recently had the pleasure of visiting this remarkable establishment, and I must admit that it left an indelible impression on me. From the moment I stepped inside, I was immersed in a world of culinary delights, surrounded by an unimaginable array of products that would make any food lover's heart skip a beat. Upon entering Brooklyn Fare, one cannot help but be captivated by the sheer magnitude of its offerings. The store's shelves are thoughtfully stocked with an astounding variety of goods, ranging from pantry staples to exotic delicacies. The aisles are meticulously organized, ensuring that every product is easily accessible. It's like stepping into a cornucopia of flavors, where the possibilities seem endless. What sets Brooklyn Fare apart from other grocery stores in the neighborhood is the staggering selection it boasts. While nearby bodegas and gourmet grocery stores may have limited offerings, Brooklyn Fare takes it to a whole new level. It feels almost surreal to wander through the aisles, gazing at walls filled with pint-sized ice cream, tuna, and countless other items. It evokes a sense of childlike wonder, akin to experiencing a supermarket for the first time. One of the highlights of my visit was discovering the vast selection of gourmet and specialty products. Brooklyn Fare caters to the most discerning palates, providing an extensive assortment of high-quality items that are often challenging to find elsewhere. Whether you're searching for rare spices, artisanal cheeses, or imported delicacies, this store has it all. It's a treasure trove for food enthusiasts, inspiring culinary experimentation and expanding horizons. Apart from its incredible variety, Brooklyn Fare excels in providing an immersive and welcoming atmosphere. The staff members are knowledgeable, friendly, and always ready to offer assistance. They exude a genuine passion for food, eager to share their expertise and make recommendations. This creates a pleasant shopping experience, where customers can engage with the staff and discover new culinary delights. Furthermore, the store's commitment to quality is evident in every aspect. The fresh produce section showcases an impressive selection of vibrant fruits and vegetables, meticulously arranged to ensure optimal freshness. The butcher counter presents an assortment of premium cuts, appealing to even the most discerning carnivores. It's a testament to Brooklyn Fare's dedication to sourcing the finest ingredients for its customers. In conclusion, Brooklyn Fare is a grocery store unlike any other. It transcends the boundaries of a traditional supermarket and transforms shopping into an extraordinary experience. Its unparalleled selection, encompassing everything from everyday essentials to gourmet treasures, is a testament to the store's commitment to culinary excellence. Whether you're a food aficionado or simply seeking to explore the world of flavors, Brooklyn Fare is a must-visit destination that will leave you in awe and redefine your perception of what a grocery store can be.

I like the variety of products and the quality. Lots to choose from. Managers, cashiers, and other employees are great. When you ask for a product they not only know and tell you they will show you! They know their stock and will tell you they don’t have it. Also they look. Thank you Brooklyn Fare for your neighborly professionalism!

This is my go to place in the neighborhood for a quick trip for a last minute meal prep. The grocery delivery is so helpful for our family not to take both of our young kids all the time but the girls are welcomed when I bring them.
Apr 22, 2023 -
I moved to the Upper Westside 1 year ago. Brooklyn Fare has become my go to Supermarket. Good prices compared to others in the area. Great sales! When I order delivery and an item needs to be replaced the staff calls me and has always been accommodating, helpful and polite. When shopping in the store all employees are helpful and polite as well.

So very glad to have a supermarket in the area with reasonable prices, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Welcome Brooklyn Fair! Oops! I can not forget to mention the delivery service. They are fast, courteous, and free. I arrived home took off my coat and they were knocking on the door, assisting me to bring my delivery inside of the apartment, never attempting to go passed my requested destination. Excellent, excellent service. Recently I had Spinal Surgery and I needed groceries, so I called the store and informed them of my situation. To my surprise the manager told me to email my grocery list and they will take care of everything else. Items that were not available they called me and offered other options. I have had such a great experience with the service that they provided, everything was delivered in a orderly fashion. I'm so overjoyed with the service and Respect that was given to my situation. Thank you Brooklyn Fare!

Love our neighborhood Brooklyn Fare! Prices are far more reasonable than other local grocers, with a much wider range of product as well—great produce, excellent array, everything from tried and true brands to niche new products. The staff are all so kind as well! I refuse to shop elsewhere, definitely stop on by.

Brooklyn Fare UWS store, on West End Avenue: Their meat counter could offer a larger choice, same thing with their vegetables. Vegetables could also be fresher and offer more choice. The weakest link is definitely their fresh fish department. But then again, fresh fish is VERY difficult to find in New York supermarkets. It is, however, the only supermarket in the area that offers discount to seniors once a week . I do appreciate that they deliver free of charge to close-by customers, whether you shop and have delivered or you order on their own website and call them to explain what you need exactly. Finally, the employees -almost all of them- are very helpful and gracious. All in all, a good deal !

I have lived in this area of Manhattan for less than a year and everyone knows that it is difficult to buy a variety in one place with good accessibility and a good price. It is very difficult, but since this new place opened, my purchases have been easier. I do not worry about nothing saves me time and money since its variety of products makes you choose better the staff is very respectful and above all they help me packing they are very good workers and they always welcome you with a smile and say goodbye wishing you a good day

I’ve been in this neighborhood for a while and this is definitely my favorite store. Fare prices and they always have good sales going on. As well have the cashiers, I think their names are Katherine, Pablo and Shayleen. They are always super accommodating and on point so I just had to show appreciation by learning their names. Great store.

I’m so happy that this Brooklyn Fare opened up. Since it’s fairly new and near several luxury residences, I thought it would be more expensive. However to my happy surprise its prices beat the nearby Morton Williams and there are great sales and manager specials every week. I’ve also purchased directly on their website for free delivery and it’s an excellent service. The security and checkout staff are so friendly, it truly feels like a personal neighborhood stop which sometimes can be hard to come by in the city or just what you need after a long commute home. They carry several dairy substitue and vegan options, as well as a really decent international foods section (speaking specifically to the East/Southeast Asian options). I only wish it stayed open later!

This is my new favorite supermarket! I've compared prices and overall my best bet is to come here when I want to buy things in person. They also deliver. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. They will actually even walk you to the aisle if you're looking for something. I've been telling all my neighbors about this location.

I’m so happy that Brooklyn Fare is in our neighborhood. The price is reasonable. We can shop online and delivery is available. I love the deli Department the guys are very Pleasant. The meats are cut exactly the way you want them and is always fresh, plus you never wait on a line.

I’ve been meaning to write a review for a while now. This place is amazing in so many ways! For a city grocery store, the selection is impressive - they have everything!! Great lunch specials and an amazing staff. The taller gentleman that stands near the checkout is always super friendly and greets guests as they come in. The prices are reasonable and you can always find a good deal. So happy with this addition to our neighborhood!

I absolutely love Brooklyn Fare from their selection to the cleanliness to the kindness of the staff. I noticed a previous review stating this store was not diverse, and I completely disagree! I come to this location quite often in the evening and always notice a diverse staff, and a very welcoming staff. The food here is so fresh, organized and kept in extremely clean areas. I am beyond impressed at how everything is always very neat. The selection of groceries is also great and some finds you wouldn't see at other grocery stores. Love BF, and so happy to have a a top-notch grocery store in the neighborhood! :) Also - if you have to get lucky with a Too Good To Go order from here, you will NOT be disappointed.
