What clients say about Target in New York (NY)
-
Why are people here so rude when you’re picking up an order?! I don’t understand. On top of missing things sometimes when placing an order for pick up the previous two times there was an item missing in my order and my husband was the one picking it up. He gave them the bike code to pick up the order, but then they said they can’t find it then they’re like, sir. There’s no order here but the way they said it was so rude. I had a hard time getting a refund because I don’t live near there and then today when he picked up an order, the guy was very rude. I’m so glad that my local Target isn’t like this.

This review is solely about worker Dru (or Drew) at Target because he truly deserves recognition. Every time my mom and I come in, Dru is there to help us with kindness, patience, and a genuine smile. Whether it’s a return, questions, using the bottle machine, or just pointing us in the right direction, he always goes above and beyond to make sure we’re taken care of. It’s rare to meet someone who genuinely cares about customers the way Dru does, and it honestly makes such a difference in our visits. Target is so lucky to have him on their team. In my eyes, he needs to be a manager already, he carries himself like one and treats people with the kind of respect and care that should be recognized.

Upgrade your inventory frequently , some people check out app before head to store.I went to get ice cream, cereal and other groceries there was nothing what showed online in stock. It waste of my time.
Aug 17, 2025 -
Not huge, but fully stocked. This Target has one or two of whatever you’re looking for, so this is a decent stop if you need something quickly, but not a place to do good comparison shopping.
Aug 09, 2025 -
A good place to shop if you want your experience to include flagging down an employee to unlock ice cream that's held behind lock and key. If you actually want to buy something, you're out of luck. The obsession with locking away merchandise here reaches comical levels.

This Target on west 97th Street in Columbus is one of the worst one, you never find what you need and they don’t much of varieties on anything. Customer service sucks and some of the employees are rude and helpless. All these small Targets in NYC are all terrible. The only one that was good was the one in East Harlem NY at 117th Street but they closed it down due to lots of robberies. They need to closed down all these small terrible Targets.
Jul 05, 2025 -
Terrible. Has nothing in stock. Horrible service—was waiting for 15 minutes for someone to unlock a shelf. Told multiple staff but no one was acting to get anyone. Horrible attitude. Would not return unless absolutely have nowhere to go.
Jul 04, 2025 -
Ron was extremely attentive. He knew I was looking for a product that happened to be out of stock. He found out that the item was being unloaded from the truck and found me before I left the store so that he could give me the item as soon as it was off the truck. Outstanding.
Jun 21, 2025 -
Horrible horrible horrible. This target needs to be closed down already. Their shelves is are mostly empty and if they have an item it’s 1-2 items. The staff wow forget about the staff. You have certain staff members who do their job extremely well but because the lack of help from their co workers they get fed up just like any other human would. There’s two staff members who go above and beyond every time I go there and one of them I feel like they would fire for being straight forward about the lack of help they get from co workers. I seen this employee knock out a line of maybe like 10 people by himself at the register and help me with my pick up order.
Jun 17, 2025 -
You can't even do basic shopping here for groceries now without waiting ten minutes every time you want to open a door. This place is gross and weird and Target needs to grow up, hire a single security guard if you're pretending your shrink is this bad. Every second here is annoying and their selection is terrible
May 30, 2025 -
Aside from the obvious fact that Target is not to be trusted, this store just sucks. It’s NYC, but they’re too cheap to employ more than one cashier during peak hours. Just a shoddy run company that doesn’t respect its employees or its customers.
May 19, 2025 -
Kinda small but great for getting food and toiletries quickly. There’s some toys, some miscellaneous things but it’s more like a convenience store than anything! Pretty good! I get snacks here sometimes!
May 18, 2025 -
I love this target. It is always a nice place to go with friends when we are bored, and it is very convienent to get to. I just wish they had more things like your typical box target would. Even though its small, I think this is a great target for NYC.
Feb 18, 2025 -
This Target doesn't check ID when orders need to be picked up!! How someone "picked up my order"....and the team member just gives it to them! There is no way someone logged into my Target account and used the barcode to get my item....The person who answered the phone could literally care less that my item was stolen and just told me to call my bank to report fraud, so unprofessional. This Target location sucks and now the fact that they gave someone my item I will never shop here again. People be warned! Don't do order pickup as they will just give your items away.
Dec 11, 2024 -
This target is too small and has few things, I always end up not finding 8 out of 10 items, many items are locked as well, like heavy detergent, the store is located in a deep basement and is literally 1 block away from the 24th precinct, I don't understand this strategy of keeping the store empty of items and having things locked up! Is this some psychological experiment? It doesn't make any sense!!! Maybe insurance?? Something is not right here.

PLEASE put the current self checkout cashier (heavy set, bearded, dark skinned guy) in a non customer service position. He is very rude, impatient, condescending, and always has an unprofessional, unpleasant tone. He seems to be more interested in embarrassing customers who make mistakes rather than kindly helping. This should feel like a Target on the UWS not the Bronx. Please retrain him on appropriate customer service.

Very nice and spacious store. They have a large inventory and the prices are great. The store is very clean and the staff is super friendly. I often do the “online pick-up” and it is very quick. Don (or maybe it’s Dom) works the pickup line and is so nice and efficient. He always takes the time to ask how someone’s day is and gives a warm goodbye. By far my favorite Target in Manhattan.
Mar 11, 2024 -
I give this Target Store a DOUBLE ZERO!!!!!! How is it that the cashier has no clue that you can price match an item? How is it that the only person the Leader on Duty is the only one that knew this? This store is a JOKE-the size of my living room. It should be shut down completely. The first person to assist me helped (with a meek smile), when I approached her a second time after waiting around 20 minutes she looked irritated. You don't like your job, leave. Also, cashier Amrita needs to be TRAINED!!!!
Nov 27, 2023 -
This location of Target is great!! It's not the largest, but they have a great selection of items and I always seem to find what I need here. The staff are helpful and kind, and the check-out line is never totally inundated with customers (things always move pretty quickly and the wait is never too long). This is a great place to stop for necessities on the Upper West Side/Columbus Avenue!

Would like to give one star, due to CVS pharmacy located inside this Target. I made an on online appointment and recieved both email and text confirmations for the appointment to have a vaccination. I arrived at the location as recommended more than 10 minutes early, arrived at 5:45. I was very puzzled to find all the gates closed at the pharmacy. I doubled checked to confirm location and time. Time of vaccination appointment was 6:00 pm. Location Columbus Square inside Target. There were schedules posted outside the pharmacy walls stating closing time was 7:00 pm. I spoke with a Target associate who was busy stocking shelves. They were very nice and very he was very apologetic. He told me the pharmacy is never open. He didn't understand why I was able to make an appoiment, and could not provide me with any additional information about the pharmacy, since it is a entity separate from Target and only rents space from Target. Contact attempts with both CVS and Target have proven fruitless. I see how both CVS and Target value their customers. They don't.
Oct 06, 2023 -
Worst ever...the workers worry more about checking to see who's stealing than stocking up their shelves. The SUPERVISOR told me that Target doesn't give RAIN CHECKS. Which I know for a fact is ABSOLUTELY FALSE. ... Once their items sell out, they'll wait until the next day to stock up.
Aug 05, 2023 -
I do not even want to give them one star. Horrible & Rude employees. I had to use the ladies room urgently one morning. It was about 10:15AM. There were employees at the cash register leaning against the back of registers doing nothing. I asked if they could watch my cart as I know you are not supposed to take cart in bathroom. I told young woman I needed her to hurry. She took her time. Actually they all looked stoned. The manager reached out to me but she basically do nothing. The store is devoid of merchandise. I’m sure it will closing soon. Good riddance.

I recently shopped at Target and overall had a positive experience. The store was clean, well-organized and the staff were friendly. However, I was disappointed with the selection of baby clothing available. They have a good variety of products but they should improve the selection of baby clothing. Other than that, I had a good shopping experience and would recommend it to others. Overall, I would rate my experience at Target 4 stars.

it’s a smol target for sure. they don’t have clothing, but do have some basics—4pack of boxers is like $17. it’s an odd mix of stuff in some ways.. but what they do have in stock. it’s like a store with an identity crisis—i think it dreams to be a grocery store, but groceries aren’t really what most people goto target for, so you get there and you’re like “this place is clean” but the options are limited because so much space is dedicated to groceries. all the normal target sections are like condensed into half an aisle. im not against this—it worked out for me, i got what i needed, but if you were expecting a target’s target, i could see how one would be disappointed

Quick and easy... Small but Convenient... clean and spacious... Good customer service I call it Target Express cuz they have what you need not what you want. Lol? A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING to help you get by. I think it's great.
Nov 11, 2022 -
The employees are useless ,they don't help you find the item your looking for. They just point you to where they think it is . Update 3/13/22 - no litter but they sell plastic litter containers lol ,also no cat treats except two sad sections of temptations ?

I stumbled upon this location by mistake. I was actually going to Michaels however Michaels is now closed. This Target location is a small as compared to other locations. I went into Target to search for gems/rhinestones for a project however the store didn’t have any. I was able to purchase the glue sticks I needed. The staff were helpful and polite. The store was very clean. I noticed the store had self check out, I didn’t see any regular registers. The store is accessible via public transportation.
