I had been looking for fabric at numerous stores and found what I wanted at J&A. They made covers for my RV cushions and did a fantastic job! I highly recommend this store.
Just picked up reupholstered cushions for outside furniture and the work is amazing. Side zippers for easy cleaning. Zipper covers, ties well designed for foot rests. Remarkable job
I have only purchased fabric, zippers, and thread from this store for items I sew (have not used the upholstery services). The quality is excellent, and there are many types of fabric, but the choices (colors/petterns) are limited. Go with an open mind and be prepared to hunt--because you'll be rewarded with excellent bargains. The owner is very nice. (Cash only!)
This a good place to find scraps of fabrics but you have to search for a bit.They have nice prints but you have to deal with the little store and the mess. Nice people willing to help, specially the owner's son. Prices are decent compared to other stores..You can have your curtains made here among other things.
I love this place! I had 2 throw pillows covered and he did a great job! Also, the price of the work and the fabric was very reasonable. I will go to this place in the future.

I love this place. I was terrified when he moved locations and I am so glad he stayed in the neighborhood. he has everything you need for a basic to intermediate project and does upholstery services, makes curtains etc. keep small business in the neighborhood! ❤️
The owner is very nice. I've had work done by him and it's excellent. Only issue I have is that he doesnt seem to get the same variety of fabrics like when he worked at Dan Saks, although that was years ago and the store was about 10x the size it is now.
Went there and he knows what he is doing bought fabric for my dinning room chairs and omg they look so good. He was very helpful and the prices are great. This will be my place from now on. He showed me some chairs that he recovered and beautiful.
Super friendly and fast service. Lots of stuff in the store - my only comment is that the lighting could be better. I'm sure when you're looking at various materials, you'll want to see it in the best light possible.

The drive across the width of Brooklyn to get to A & J is always rewarding. The choice of quality materials and creative trims never disappoints. Today I purchased a basic, but beautiful, white material for curtains in a grand-daughter's nursery.
my church was in a need of new pew banch kneelers upholstery ,so i brought 10 kneelers to this location ,and the owner helped me to pick the material and suggested a better idea to me on how they should look ,and gave me an outstanding price (package deal ) that i could not believe and refuse, i was so pleased of the results including pricing and service ,got the finished product as he promised me ,on time and with a smile ,i highly recommend this place ,and by the way they have been in business for over 35 years in bayridge brooklyn ,i will definitely give my business to them and highly recommend this establishment,thanks (J&A)
It is a tiny store and yes fabrics are very unorganized.I disagree with other reviews saying that owner is rude,I think customer service just not his thing,he just left me alone.(which is how I rather shop anyways).
As far as fabric selection,I consider it poor.There is a bit of everything and if you don't care about specific fabric,then you are in luck.If you looking for variety,this isn't your place.
Read other people on here talking about poor customer service. Went in there looking to buy about 5/yards of fabric. The guy didn't seem to friendly at first, but then he asked what I was doing with it and then he started laughing and told me I was crazy for wanting so much. He could have easily sold me more fabric than I needed, but instead helped me with my project and didn't sell me too much. He was very nice and helpful. I would definitely buy from this place again if I needed fabric. Great selection too.
It was awful. The employees were bitter, they had no guidance to where everything was, and it was the worst experience of my life. I recommend you all stick with Michaels.
Been here twice to give it the benefit of the doubt. First time, the owner didn't seem very interested to help me with my questions. I needed fabric for an upholstery project. I thought maybe he was just really busy so I decided to go back for a Halloween project and yet again, didn't seem to want to help me. They do have a great selection of fabrics, zippers and buttons but customer service skills important too. I'll go back there when I know exactly what I'm looking for. But if you want guidance and help on your project, you might not get much advice.
The best little fabric store I have ever been to! The owner has been in the neighborhood for decades, and the store is packed with all types of fabrics and trims. The stock moves quickly so you only know what is there if you take the time to visit. They also make pillows, upholster chairs, and much more.....they are very busy but always kind and work with you when you come into the store. The current owner worked for the two women who owned a very large fabric store on 3rd Avenue and when they sold the business he opened this store. I never go anywhere else for fabric, he has the best selection of upholstery and drapery fabrics that change weekly - always something new!
I called this store today to find out whether they had fabrics and sewing supplies. The man that answered the phone said he did not want to tell me the products he sold and that I'd have to make a visit to the store to find out. Poor customer service experience overall - will not receive my business.
