Entitled, condescending staff that's absolutely useless when it comes to plumbing. I've had nothing but frustrating experiences at this store whenever I've had to go in there for plumbing supplies. I have a building that I service across the street and, as anyone local knows, parking is impossible. Once you're in a spot, you're there until the job is done. I literally dread having to go in there and go through the rigamorale of asking for a specific plumbing part from a clerk who knows nothing about plumbing and, quite overtly, displays annoyance at having to do their job. Then, after the mile and a half walk to the register, you can expect the same hospitality from whomever is assigned to checkout before you pay exorbitantly for a part you had to locate yourself. I'm there so sparingly that I really just thought my bad experiences there trying to procure plumbing parts were just a series of isolated incidents. After another trip there today, the preponderance of empirical evidence points to it just being a lousy culture. But, given the parking situation in that neighborhood, guess I'll have to resign myself to lousy service and ridiculous prices. And this is coming from someone that lives in Midtown East/ Murray Hill.

Tarzian is a true neighborhood gem! I've been coming here for years for minor conveniences like getting new light bulbs and soda stream refills, but today they went above and beyond! I had a TaskRabbit come to switch out a high shower head for a handheld one, but turned out I didn't have the right parts. I called them frantically asking if they had something, and they were able to charge me over the phone and send me what I needed by Uber courier, which arrived in under 15 minutes so I didn't have to rebook the Tasker to come back. Thanks so much for being so flexible!

Came here yesterday to avoid purchasing on Amazon, to try and help out a local business. I was extremely disappointed that I did because the customer service in this store is a joke, no one wants to help you. I asked the cashier if minded asking to see if they had stock in the one item I was purchasing, while I was asking, I noticed the item I was buying was damaged, so the person or manager(?) comes over and is beyond condescending, after I asked if he could pull another pair of gloves for me that weren’t damaged and his response “Well you need to say please!” And walks away singing the song that was playing over the speaker. Like I said, an actual joke of customer service and thoughtfulness. Point of story - There plenty of other hardware stores nearby that would be willing to help out, without the condescending and rude comments.

Super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. They pack an impressive amount of stock into such a small space. The store is clean, well-organized, and a fantastic neighborhood hardware store. Love it here!

I always enjoy going in here. The staff is super welcoming and helpful! As someone who is not handy, they never make me feel dumb if I have a question or need help.

Walked in for an appliance light bulb but couldn’t help but look around. Store is nicely stocked with a touch of everything. Super clean and well lit. Ended up grabbing soil and some cleaning supplies as well. Plenty of amazing staff offering to help and even give suggestions about other places in the neighborhood. Will be coming back.

One of the best hardware stores in the city. I don't live in the neighborhood anymore but I still come back here. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff and their inventory is impressively vast considering how little space retailers have here. I would believe they have nearly as many people employees as home Depot or Lowes at any time and they don't run away from you.

My go-to hardware store for pretty much everything I need to keep my house up-to-date. Great selection, brands, and very knowledgeable staff.

Everything I’ve ever bought here has been beautiful and of great quality. The staff always acts like they’re happy to see you, and always offer lots of help. They took my discontinued canister for Sodastream exchange credit where other stores either were out of stock for the blue canisters, wouldn’t accept the old ones (even though the Sodastream website says they should), or didn’t offer the full exchange value. I tell people to shop here whenever I can. Thanks so much for a pleasurable shopping experience!!

My kids live in Brooklyn by the hardware store. I come down multiple times a year and my daughter frequently has a project for me. Since her and her husband have limited tools and many times the project is last minute I have to go pick something up to make it happen. This is the go to place. Good variety, Convenient location and the prices are good. People are friendly. Happy to support a local business.

Great selection and very knowledgeable staff (much better than Home Depot or Lowes)

Fantastic hardware store! They always manage to have exactly what I need every time I go there. A few examples that spring to mind: -picture rail hooks (necessary to hang artwork on the picture rails often found in brownstones) -BR30 light bulbs (an odd size needed for track lighting in my apartment) -plexiglass (sold at the perfect size to easily cut down into panels for either side of a window A/C) In addition to a very well curated inventory, the staff is also very knowledgeable and friendly. I've never had to wander around looking for someone to help me or answer a question, which is great. I don't write a lot of reviews but as I was leaving Tarzian Hardware the other day I thought "I hope they have really great reviews online so people know how nice of a store it is. I suppose I should write one." :)

Tarzian has an amazingly wide selection of products, it's well organized, and the staff are great! They're always willing to brainstorm solutions, even if it means taking time for what turns out to be a very small purchase. I love hardware stores in general, but Tarzian is my favorite.

OMG! Such a helpful staff. I am doing a creative engineering masterclass and have a project to build. I forgot my sketch but described it and they went out of their way to help me figure out what to consider and what tools to buy. I left the store feeling excited, and funnily enough, before I went in their store, I was actually tired and hungry. It will be my go to store during the course.

I mean... Online shopping is cool and all, but have you ever been to a well stocked hardware store? Tarzian is one of those brick and mortar gems that Amazon will never be able to beat. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and they have almost everything you need probably. Yes, it comes at a higher cost... But as far as I'm concerned it's the price worth paying for if you want good quality and good service.

They have great appliances and are normally stocked up. Staff is also respectful. Although they should inform you about their bag fee before everything is paid for. I bought quite a few items and I guess the cashier thought I was going to carry all in those things in my hand.

Excellent neighborhood hardware store—you want it, they got it. I’ve been coming here for 8+ years for parts, plants, pots, seeds, cleaning stuff, fans, space heaters, just about everything for any season. The staff is always helpful and even my dog knows this is one of the local shops she likes. Definitely stop in if you’re in Park Slope and need to fix something or have a home improvement project! Plus their Instagram is helpful to know what they have in stock at any given time.

Best hardware shop in the neighborhood,if not Brooklyn, hands down..Staff are all friendly, helpful, and polite. Huge selection of items , I can always find what I'm looking for. Prices are great too.. Vast selection of plants outside, and a nice selection of gardening items in the back. Definitely recommend Tarzian!!

I always have a great experience here. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here ready and eager to help. Also, you can find anything you think you'll need for any DIY projects you may have planned at home. Dog friendly!

Every neighborhood should have an amazing local hardware store like this one. The staff here is so so so friendly and knowledgeable! Any question I pose they can direct me from types of paint to use depending on material to caulking to keys being made. When we've hired contractors they'd come in here because they'd have all the supplies they'd need. Prices are also extremely fair, or lower than you'd expect. I've lived in different areas all over the city and these guys are the tops. So glad they're here.

A really friendly local hardware store. Sammy (?) there even offered to make key duplicates for my last min urgency when he is closing the store before the new year. A bunch of very experienced staff there that offer great advice for tools and components to fix the house.

This place is the last of the real Mohegans. They are a true neighborhood store that goes above and faaaaaar beyond for their customers. Every customer is greeted & acknowledge, but they are NOT pushy. They have an experienced floor crew that will honestly tell you the tools, equipment, paint etc that you will need. They don't have it? Not a problem, they will try to order it for ya in their next delivery. They deliver locally for a $5. charge and sometimes distant for a reasonable fee. PS don't forget to bring your own shopping bag, they have plastic bags but this area is very environmental conscious.

A surprisingly well-stocked little hardware store. It's expensive, but that's expected for the convenience of not having to get to Lowe's or Home Depot. The guys working here are very helpful. In the 100+ times I've been to Tarzian, only once have I had a bad experience with the staff.

My experience in this store was great. I stopped in hoping they would have some metal rings to use when plating food. There were three employees standing right at the front door that I asked for help and they quickly showed me the selections available! I found two different sizes that were perfect! I am happy I asked for assistance because there is A LOT of stuff in this small store - probably would have taken me a while to locate what I was looking for. Pleasantly surprised that I found what I was looking for at this local hardware/home goods store!

I've shopped in this store for my entire life. First, as a kid with my family and now that I have a family of my own. This place has everything: paint, home repair items, gardening supplies, cleaning supplies, storage items. You name it! But the absolute BEST thing they stock is great customer service. We went in over the weekend to buy some paint. We had calculated how much we needed, etc. Anyway, after speaking with Ferdy for only a few minutes, we realized we had to buy less than we thought and he helped us plan out what we needed for the whole job. He was great. Also, another salesman ( I wish I knew his name ) spent about 20 minutes last week explaining the different Benjamin Moore paints and how we could save some $$$ buying paint. It was great. The store is a more expensive than the hardware superstores but worth visiting rather than standing in a massive store, unable to find a salesperson & wasting time.
