What clients say about Holiday Inn Express Building 107 in Brooklyn (NY)
-
Location is great—on Fort Hamilton base (107 Schum Ave), right at the Verrazano Bridge foot, easy on/off highways, secure parking, close to Bay Ridge eats and ~10-15 min walk to subway (R train to Manhattan). Perfect for military, families, or driving in/out of NYC—quiet/safe base vibe. Rooms were clean and comfy with small kitchenette (fridge, microwave—handy for snacks), good beds, and modern feel after remodel. Basic but functional, quiet. Service was decent—friendly staff, quick check-in, helpful with base info, free breakfast solid (hot items, variety). Great value on-base option with free breakfast/parking—ideal for NYC trips on a budget or military-related. Would stay again! 4 stars.

We've had a mostly, good experience here while we were here for 4 days, while visiting family. The pluses were the hot shower water (probably due to freezing temps) which was not offered last time, nicely clean room, amenities at the coffee machine area with 24/7 access to hot water with options of coffee, tea, and hot cocoa, breakfast and access to the laundry room (which we were unfortunately, unable to use due to constraint in time), close proximity to family (which is why we chose this hotel location), also close to a convenient gas station and also close proximity to the Commissary and Exchange. We were placed, unfortunately, across from the stairway doors on the second floor, so constantly, heard tons of sounds from them, along with noisy neighbors on one side. Once the traffic died down when people checked out, we thankfully, heard less noises. Please commend the female receptionist with long hair (in a ponytail) who worked at the front desk on Friday afternoon (1/23) at noonish for great customer service- she was extremely helpful in answering questions and cutting extra keys for the room, previously, when we needed the help. She seemed the most helpful, friendly, approachable and positive-vibed, when compared to the other reps. Also, the room rates for veteran retirees seem a bit pricey, otherwise, we would have stayed longer. This is our second time there and we appreciate that, in spite of the issues encountered, we were able to enjoy the amenities for our short stay, along with the nice, hot temps in the lobby.

Great hospitality at this comfortable hotel with friendly service from the staff, in addition to access to great, free breakfast in the morning, clean rooms, a laundry facility, and ample, free parking. If you forgot to bring along any essential items for your trip, there is a makeshift store of sorts, next to the front desk, for purchase such as deodorants, dryer sheets, snacks, drinks and plastic utensils (latter of which is free). The views of the bridge nearby is not bad either, in a great central location, close to the Commissary, Exchange, thrift store, bowling alley, gas station and recycling center. If you venture outside of the base, you will find that there are many great locations too to include a convenient, nearby subway station, car service company (that has access to the base), grocery stores and some great restaurants, to name a few things. The room we had was surprisingly a bit small but it was still comfortable, nonetheless. We wouldn't have minded a bit more space in the room. Best part of the stay was the breakfast which included pancakes, yogurts, precooked eggs, fruits, turkey sausages, links, bacon (on limited days), muffins, cereal, milk, juice and cinnamon rolls. It was also nice that the hot water, coffee, tea and hot cocoa packs were available 24/7. Most places usually only make those things available only during their limited, set breakfast hours. Would highly recommend this hotel if you're looking to stay in a safe, convenient location with amenities and perks, surrounded by grocery stores and everything else you would need within a 5-10 mile radius.

I visited on January 9, 2026. The address on the website of the hotel and Google will lead you on a goose chase. I ended up going through the bridge three times; all tolls paid. Then I called and the front desk said they are aware but for some reason have not done anything about that. I was asked to put in my GPS 101st and Fort Hamilton pkwy. That brought me to the entrance of the base and then to the hotel. It was too much getting to the hotel but service was excellent.

I use this hotel whenever I come to NYC on my motorcycle because of the safe parking and great location!

Front desk were very friendly and customer service was on point. The room fit my needs to a "T". Not much of a view from my room, but I wasn't expecting one anyway. Free breakfast was actually good. The stay is great. If you're a minimalist, this is the place for you. Right off the Verrazano bridge and straight into Bayridge, you can't go wrong. Insulated from the city shenanigans since you're on a Army post. Gas station and commissary here, you got what you need here. Didn't need all the bells and whistles this time. Loving my stay here.

The Holiday Inn Express on Ft. Hamilton was easy to reach, once we told navigation to take us to the front gate. The room was clean and the staff was very helpful and friendly. We stayed for two nights and encountered no issues. Both the Commissary and PX are in walkable distance, if you don’t want to move your car. Getting to the metro was easy, either ask for the hotel shuttle to take you, however, only available until 1530, you can use a cab, or walk.

The Inn was very nice. Surprisingly so. We had a suite, and needed a roll away bed. The bed was quite comfortable and the kids enjoyed the roll away. For being right next to the highway, you couldn't even tell. The breakfast spread was VERY nice and well attended. Things were getting restocked consistently. I felt safe and didn't worry about our car at all. It's a nice little gem, somewhat out of the way - but I'd recommend it 10 out of 10. My daughter also found this neat little rock under a tree ?

The hotel is in a wonderful area offering easy access to local attractions, dining, and entertainment options. Additionally, the facility maintains a high standard of cleanliness, ensuring a comfortable and pleasant stay for all guests.
Jul 31, 2025 -
Eureka is outstanding! She is super helpful, professional, and went beyond her duties to ensure we had a wonderful stay and experience. The rooms are comfortable and quiet; just in need of upgrades and minor repairs. Dog friendly and kid friendly.
Jul 20, 2025 -
The front desk staff is very kind and helpful. If you put this address into your GPS it will not take you there. You need to put the military gate entrance in, and then go from there, once you are on the base. And after a long 6+ hour drive that was extremely frustrating. Rooms are nice, prices are high but it is what it is. Overall a nice stay

We will like to take the moment to express the outstanding customer service we received during our stay. From the moment we arrived, the staff at the front desk went above and beyond to ensure our stay was enjoyable. She not on provided a warm welcome, Ms. Melissa shared fantastic recommendations for places to dine and areas to visit. Her insight truly enhanced our experience and made our trip memorable. We felt valued as a guest, and can't wait to return! Thank you Ms. Melissa for creating such a welcoming atmosphere. Wyatt Family

If you're a military card-carrying member (active or retired) I STRONGLY recommend this place. The cost is comparable to nearly any place you'll find in NYC - and probably cheaper. Not only are the room spacious with a kitchen (microwave and frig) the close proximity to the commissary (right out the back door) makes it an added benefit. The BX little more than a block away. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful (with handouts upon checking in -- car service, restaurants and delivery options).
Nov 22, 2024 -
If you're a card-carrying member of the military (active or retired [as I am]) how could you go wrong and stay somewhere else in Manhattan that charges "an arm and a leg". The rooms are equipped with small cooking facilities and frig. Commissary is right out the back door. BX is less than 3 blocks away. A great, great experience. Staff was informative and helpful every step of the way.

I stayed at this hotel on Ft. Hamilton. For the first time last night and came back again the next. The beds are so comfy. The rooms are large and no outside noise. Very clean as well. The one staff member that stood out was Yan. Yan was very funny and helpful with helping me order food with so many options. She has a great work ethic and a people|person so friendly. They are very lucky to have this young lady apart of their hotel. ??????????
Apr 10, 2024 -
Very nice place to stay. Yan is a superb front desk employee. Eureka is super nice too. Harnell who serves the breakfast does a great job. My room was tidy and quiet. Convenient location, across from the commissary. I love that I can use the computer in the lobby. Good breakfast selection.
Mar 15, 2024 -
Great staff and location make this a great location close to everything - walking distance to excellent New York food, the subway system and the on base community club that is only a short walk from the hotel for reasonably priced food and drinks. Front Desk employee, Eureka, was amazing and made this a special experience. The entire staff is super, but Eureka stood out. I stayed there alone this trip but have been there with family in the past to take the subway to museums, shows and even the circle line. You can drive to all these places but taking the subway means not worrying about parking. Hope you get to check out this great hotel.

The rooms are outdated, but obviously, the rates and for what it is are okay. The lady is always welcoming on the front, clean bathrooms, breakfast included, and kids always love co.i . here ,si ce they have their own sofabed. I'll 100 stay here I stead of Manhattan for the holidays if you come to visit. It's just 30 minute away!!!
Dec 26, 2023 -
They have an incredibly kind staff. Rooms were a great size. This was a perfect stay for our large family while visiting the city. We will definitely stay again!
Dec 23, 2023 -
I travel a lot, sometimes I stay in over 50 different hotels in one year. The Holiday In Express at Fort Hamilton has always been one of my favorites. On this stay I would like to recognize Eureka and Yan at the front desk and Harnell who prepares the breakfast in the morning. Fantastic service by all three.
Dec 03, 2023 -
Wonderful experience! The accommodation was comfortable and well maintained. The free breakfast was excellent, and Eureka at the front desk went above and beyond, being incredibly friendly and helpful during my late-night stay. Highly recommend this place in NY, especially considering its convenient walking distance to the subway.

Eureka is a valuable employee at Ft Hamilton Lodging. She was the face of Ft Hamilton during our weekend getaway. We appreciated how friendly she was every time we stopped at the front desk. She not only smiled but also highly professional and helpful. You rock, Eureka! You’re doing a great job. Hope to see you again!

The AC unit could have used a filter change, at warm temperatures there was a mild smell. Although all that was said, room attendants kept the room clean and the Staff was excellent and breakfast was beautiful. Easy access to major shopping districts, a car is required.
Sep 20, 2023 -
They pre authorized one night, then five nights charging 6 nights' worth. I checked out early after 2 nights to receive a refund of the 3 remaining nights. Plans changed, and when I came back to recheck into the room, they needed to reauthorize another night effectively charging me 7 nights for a 2 night stay. I didn't have an extra 1200 to waste, so I was unable to rebook and had to sleep in my car that night. Very nice location (on the Fort Hamilton Army Base) and rooms, though.

Bay Ridge, closed to restaurants and shopping!|Review of Holiday Inn Express Building 107 On Fort Hamilton|Reviewed 3 days ago|My spouse is a veteran retiree and we stayed for 3 nights. When I made the reservations, I was told that we would have to move rooms on two consecutive nights, which I found ridiculous and unacceptable. Then, at check-in, I was told that the only room available was with a kitchenette that cost more than $10 more than my reserved room. We ended up moving on Thursday, a day before checkout, to a very similar room (with a kitchenette). Why moved us then?!||There was only one staff on duty to cover the front desk and any calls to troubleshoot any issues in the room. Not good. We had issues with the coffeemaker and she came to fix it but was in a hurry to go back down to the front desk and cut me off asking questions. ||The new staff at front desk on Thursday ASKED us if we wanted to stay on the same floor. What? Sure, we want to move our stuff going up and down the elevator to our new room. In all, we should have been allowed to stay in the same room, we should have been offered the same floor for our new room without us asking, and I ended up paying more than what I budgeted for the trip. We got the feeling that they’ve inexperienced staff handling decisions to make the customer feel important and valuable. I was annoyed and frustrated by the whole experience. ||The positive things: the hotel offers a substantial complimentary breakfast with omelette, sausages, bagels and pastries, fruit juices, yogurts, and different kinds of cereals. It has a mini market next to the elevator. ||You must have a military ID to enter the base and hotel. It’s walking distance to the subway station- the ‘R’ train to the city - but the hotel offers free shuttle service to the subway station. The area is Bay Ridge, safe to walk, and it’s full of well-known retail stores by 84th Street. There’s a Dunkin/Baskin on 92 that closes at 9 (It used to be open 24hrs) and The Coffee Club Diner on 95th and 4th, which is real good.||ADDENDUM: the last two days of our stay, we dealt with Eureka, the epitome of professionalism, customer care and business acumen. You’re an asset to the company and do hope they know and recognize that.

After a long day in the road, the exceptionally warm welcome set the time for a great stay. The receptionist even handed us several menus of local restaurants that are able to deliver on to post. The room was spotlessly clean and the receptionist called after a few minutes to make sure everything was good to go. I would definitely stay here again.
Feb 04, 2023 -
I had a horrible experience. I drove 4 hours and they told me the room I booked 2 weeks in advance was now unavailable. I booked a two full room for me, my friend and her son. I arrived at the desk and was told they only had a one bedroom available. It would’ve been nice to have known that before we arrived. They prepared a roll out bed for me which was super uncomfortable. Then to top it off, our toilet was broken. We had to go down to the lobby to use the bathroom.
Oct 07, 2022 -
In addition to the hotel being exactly like a non-Military hotel with all the amenities and feel of a regular hotel, the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. From Frances who called me back to let me know a room had become available to Eureka (sp?) who lavished positive reinforcement to my daughter with special needs who was there to see her photo appear at Times Square. Not forgetting the two wonderful women on duty the night we checked in. All were warm, welcoming and helpful. The room was a one bedroom with kitchen and eating space. Ample, extremely comfortable and immaculate! Thank you for making this hotel an above-standard option for stays.
