Typical dive bar but the wine I ordered was poured all the way full, music that wasn't too loud, and an interesting variety/ mix of people. No line for the bathroom either. I would return
Went in and the staff immediately got me waiting for some time then gave me attitude when I ordered. First time in town and it was a really bad impression of whoever got the shift this saturday. I hope the service would improve in the future
I was there with my friends getting drinks and they were mad disrespectful to us. They refused to serve us (people of color) and put us in a different table (away from others). Staff was rude, late and drinks were mid ?. Not coming there again!
Could not believe how rude the service was. It wasn’t even busy enough for the frustration to be understandable. A simple drink recommendation was enough to receive an eye roll.
The drinks were incredibly small as well. You’re paying regular price for half the amount of alcohol you’d get somewhere else. Ridiculous waste of time.
the bartenders are extremely rude. as soon as my friends and i walked in (latinos) we were immediately given dirty looks. it felt like we were being targeted as we were the only people of color in the bar. they told my friend that they were going to kick him out for no reason. they were kind with every other (white) customer except us. we came in to get a few drinks before our concert and
we left with a bad taste in our mouth. i don’t recommend. never coming back to this bar again.
very cute moody dive bar!! notables: the distinct lack of stickiness that frequent establishments such as this, and a spotless bathroom (!). drinks were on the sweet side, but tasty. 8/10
Came after a show, got a table quickly but there was also space at the bar. Bartender was so friendly and inviting. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time AND. WAS. DELICIOUS. The popcorn chicken were soft, juicy chunks of chicken. The spicy smash burger was juicy. Everything was so good I would def come back just for the food.
An excellent stop for a relaxed vibe and some of the best pub food you could ask for. Service at the bar, a back patio, and a projector playing whatever they feel like.
Had an unpleasant experience with a female bartender with an Australian accent. She had an unpleasant time cutting a patron off— which i witnessed— and when i went to order another drink, stumbling on the difference between a Manhattan and a Old Fashioned, she apparently took her frustration out on me— it was extremely disrespectful and untoward. I enjoy going here because it’s a good vibe almost always, unfortunately I don’t think I will be back.

I visited hollow nickel on 12/27 with a friend, and unfortunately, our experience with the bartender, Danny, was extremely disappointing and disheartening.
From the start, Danny was dismissive and rude, but the situation escalated when I politely inquired about a change on our bill. Instead of providing a clear explanation, he responded with aggression and a loud tone, completely uncalled for, especially as I—a Black woman—was simply asking a question. To make matters worse, he sarcastically asked if I wanted him to add an extra $2 to the bill, further belittling me in front of other patrons.
The bar was predominantly filled with Caucasian customers, and my friend and I were the only Black people present. This dynamic made Danny’s behavior feel even more targeted and uncomfortable. His hostility continued throughout the night, creating an unwelcoming and tense atmosphere that made it hard for us to enjoy ourselves.
No one should feel singled out, disrespected, or unsafe when out for a good time. I hope management addresses this incident seriously and provides proper training to ensure all customers—regardless of race—are treated with respect and dignity. I won’t be returning anytime soon.
Please note, I have been here several times when other bartenders were working and had a great experience.
We walked past this place and decided to check it out. It was perfect. A great local bar. Everyone in there was so fun and made you feel like a regular. We will definitely be back.
A sweet little dive bar with excellent burgers and wings. There’s a nice spacious outdoor area in the rear of the bar.
I wish the beer selection was a little better for both taps and bottles. I love a dive bar with good food, and this place fits the bill!
Hollow Nickel is a five star at its price point. Get the smash burger! Mark is a great bartender. He knows the good places in Brooklyn . Nice place to relax if you need a place to chill or recharge. Ask mark for places to go or places to eat.

Lovely dive spot for a fresh draft and ambient buzz. Beyond burger and fried pickles served hot and timely. Sweet bartender with knowledge and a smile. Tv screens running White Lotus were either over-the-top irony or well-placed takes on us clientele. A neighborhood haunt full of happy years.
Service was great! The HN was more than I expected and just what I was looking for. Whoever recommended the Penicillin was on point.
The pub fare was tasty, although i expected their spicy burger to be spicier, it has a slow after burn. The fried pickles were good, but recommend a different side.
Bring friends, and stay for a few good drinks. I visited solo and enjoyed the atmosphere.
It's not really a dive-bar, but his dive-bar-ish vibes. I enjoy the drinks here. The selection is limited but the quality is good. For mixed drinks, I recommend the Penicillin.
The outdoor patio is a comfortable place to hang out on cool nights.
This is our first time here, so far, it's happy hour so how wonderful! After meeting our cousin, we shared a meal and some drinks. Staff is helpful, kind, and layback. We loved the local bar feel of this bar and the folk who are on staff. Food was good, hot, and correct. We never felt rushed or hurried and will return someday.??
