This is my favorite Ideal. It's always clean, the workers are always polite and helpful. It was so packed today, but I made it out in five minutes. I am always so impressed with this supermarket.
I enjoyed the wide variety of groceries in this store, but in my opinion, they are extremely expensive and overpriced. I see a lot of comments are speaking on just the meat, but I feel like everything in that store is high. The fruits & veggies are my favorite of the store because they've always been clean, organized and fresh- some of those prices good, but I also don't mind paying a bit extra for freshness.
I just recently moved and live across the street from ideal. Usually I shop at Ctown but honestly I switch between both supermarkets. But ideal is a good place I wouldn't buy their meat because of the ridiculous prices but I'll purchase other things from them. It's always clean in there and the staff is friendly for the most part and thankfully it's always empty most of the time
Place is cheap, it's ok for groceries and vegetables, but NEVER BUY ANY MEET IN THERE.From all the times we have gotten meet, only once it was good, we are regulars, and every single time we get beef it's like a Russian roulette.We put attention to expiration date, and that the plastic cover is flat, and even though we take all those precautions, meet is decomposed or smells bad.My husband got us some ground beef today, and I just threw $16 bucks to the garbage. When I opened it, it seemd fine, but it had strong vinegar smell, very disgusting.I am 37 weeks pregnant and that is a risk for me and my baby.
The worst customer service i ever experienced, went to do an exchange because the item was bad & the manager or whoever that guy was gave me a hard time saying i shouldn’t have opened the item & kept going back & forth with me before sending me to get another one which was also bad. So unprofessional i do not recommend shopping here
Great grocery store in the neighborhood. It has gotten better, threw the years. Outside & inside appearance is better than ever. Never have a long wait. Been a customer, for or 15 years. Nice & clean always!
You guys can put some more effort into making this place nice. Otherwise it's a great alternative to many of the other stores nearby that have high prices. Many discounts on items that you get ripped off on. There's a unique smell here that stays with you when you leave.
Overall a convenient place to shop in the neighborhood. However place keep your eyes on the screen while the cashier is scanning your items. Sale items almost always scans as regular price. Also their meat usually is not good. Stay away from the meat section as much as you can.
I had the pleasure of doing a couple of shop and pick up orders from Uber eats at these ideal supermarkets. Everything is pretty much organized and well placed. I was in and out in five minutes.
Beware of the price gouging. Also, check your receipts because the price at the register differs from the price on the shelf. They will try to convince you that you are not competent enough to read the signage and will argue back and forth about the price. The level of deception at this store is astounding.
Produce isn't fresh. The outside recycling area for cans & plastic is always dirty. As a result the floor/sidewalk is littered with broken glass. Unsafe for walking kids & pets by the supermarket. Especially if you're wearing open toed shoes.
I bought hummus and pita from there and tried to eat it that same day. Hummus (not on sale) was one week+ past it’s Best Before date and tasted funny, and the pita was moldy. I now can’t trust anything at this store.
Ideal Food Basket is wonderfully located in Crown Heights/East Flatbush Brooklyn. They have a wide selection of everything that you need for cooking.
I purchased peanuts, sugar, and butter from this supermarket and made this peanut fudge candy. I enjoyed shopping here just as much as I enjoyed making this candy.
Great supermarket!! A bit overpriced but there are usually some good sales! The reason for the 4 stars is cause some of the cashier's can be a bit rude. I had one cashier ring me up then turn her back on me while I bag my stuff. Another issue is that they would have some good products for a while then never restock them. So it's best not to fall in love with a newly stocked product cause they might not bring it back
Prices are high, $6.19 for almond milk. Signage said $4.19, but an employee said it was for whipped cream that was not on the shelf. I was able to buy 2 half gallons of almond milk for less somewhere else. "Ideal" is a neighborhood store that changes corporate branding every few years. Shoppers that can travel or shop online will find competitive pricing.
Nice and clean it looks almost new. They are a full on supermarket the most annoying thing about this place is that if you want to leave the store you have to go through the cashiers even if you did not buy anything.... i do not think that is necessary... but other then that it is a very very nice store
The hot food made at this supermarket is really good. Breakfast is available and lunch begins displaying after 10:30am. The guys working at the food counter are always very kind and friendly. They usually tell me when what days mangú will be on the menu. Come in the afternoon and try their delicious stewed beans. Reminds me of Puerto Rico.
Im updating this review from two years ago. The parking in back so it is convenient to stop while out and about driving (the parking is a bit tight). The prices are expensive so prepare to spend (3 stars on prices). The cold cuts section is great seems they have finally staffed the area with employees eager to assist you with your cold cut order (5 stars for the cold cut counter).
This grocery store is the best. During the 3 to 4 months every item was stocked. Customer service was excellent and I feel comfortable shopping. Everone social distance, have on mask and just happy to see us and they never missed a beat. I just love the new look of the supermarket. They were all heros for opening early and just applying all the rules and regulations. Applauds for Afb Crown Heights International. Much love to the workers and owners.
I have lived in the area for 20 years and the supermarket has changed a lot probably due to gentrification. But, I appreciate the progress and the remodel. I am a vegan and usually find what I tend to shop for, however I would appreciate tahini, and more gluten free options.
Today was the First time I tried "International" for my Food Shopping Experience. It was Recommended by my "Man Friend" who has lived and worked in Crown Heights for Years.
It is Small and Well Stocked with Major Brands. The Produce Looked OK (not Great); Meat Department had Butchers, but the Department was Deserted; -if No One is buying Meat, I don't buy Meat!
I Brought all the "Breakfast" Food my Man Requested!!
I Checked out with a Friendly, Efficient Cashier named Kimberly. She even got my "Checked Cart"!! I prefer "Human Cashiers"!!! All in All, I Enjoyed my Shopping Experience and Will Go Back!!
This supermarket is 1 of the cleanest I have been to. Items are easy to find, shelves are fairly near and stocked well. Meats look fresh and ready to season and cook. Fish is nice and fresh and we'll displayed, with wild caught or farm raised signs. The owners are doing a great job keeping this place in it greatest condition. I go out of my way to shop here ibwas of shopping in my area.
The cashiers are always pleasant, knowledgeable and work efficiently to ensure that if there are lines they are getting customers to the register and out quickly! Very clean and well stocked with a wide selection of produce! It has free parking which is very convenient as well!
