Governor's Island is a NYC treasure! A bit early in the season, but a lovely relaxing day!

come on a cloudy, cool day - it's perfect! This place is so relaxing and the highlight of our trip to Governors Island!

Extremely peaceful place to come and relax away from the city. Take an early ferry into the island and just relax. Most people will be quiet but as the day progresses you will end up getting families who tend to be a bit louder.

Vibes were great, hammocks could be in better condition.

Neat spot but nearly all the hammocks were taken. which is ok. We waited and got three. Look for hidden paths to secret seating areas in between the surrounding paths.

It was another adventure for me and my lady to experience. The boat that took us to the island was fast and convenient.. we road the upper deck of the boat and the sea breeze was quite cool and comfortable. We got to the island in less then 10 minutes, wishing the ride was longer. We arrived at the island and my first impressions was some what lacking in excitement. But we were finally here, made the best of it and went on our merry way. The place was quite dull and looked like an old vintage college. But the people made the best of it and enjoyed all the amenities that was offered to them. As we walked around there was something to see at every corner. Food trucks at every turn, people riding on rented bicycles or their own. They even had cruising four seater bicycles for a family of four to ride on, it looked like fun..they had sprinklers for the children to play in and that was cool too. It was alot to see but we couldnt see everything that day. Next time we'll come out much earlier and try to scour the whole island in one go.. we ended up stopping to lay back on a bench, chill out on the grass, eating and drinking and enjoying our own personal comfort for couple more hours. Eventually heading back to the port where we waited for our boat to take us back to where we started from... it was a good day and we had fun...

My son had the most relaxing day! Mom rocking the hammock ofcourse! Beautiful views! Amazing greenery! Food available, bathrooms clean. A lot for children to be entertained.

Cute park, but the hammocks are in bad shape and finding them was a bit of a nightmare.

If you go during the summer when GI offers late hours, this is a peaceful place and you can get a hammock!

Super relaxing and nice hidden spot away from other activities on the island.

Fun playground for kids and adults! Featuring swing sets, hammocks, and adult jungle gyms, this is perhaps the best free activity on Governors Island. You can literally spend hours just playing around or taking a nap.

Great spot. Probably our favorite place on the island. It's so relaxing. They did a bang up job setting that up. There are little nooks around the grove with hammocks in them all spread out. It is lovely

A field of hammocks within a short ferry ride of Manhattan? What's not to love? Along with everything else you can do on Governor's Island, the Hammock Grove provides a nice spot to relax and catch your breath before you check out the rest of the island. There aren't a ton of hammocks, so you may have to wait if you want one on a busy day.

It was okay. Only about 10 hammocks mostly grouped together. Was hard for us to find. Walked a long way around till we finally bumped into it. Our biggest issue while visiting governors island was there is practically no shade on the walkways and it gets really really hot in the summer. There’s no shade at all if you’re on the hammocks.

The hammock grove is kind of hidden but follow the signs and you will find them. Also, the hammocks are spread across. So, if you can’t find one empty, look little outside and on the next block, you will find one. There are apparently 50 hammocks. Obviously tons of people look for hammocks so we couldn’t take any pictures. If you are in governors island, definitely look for them.

Go by yourself and bring a book or go with the family and take a second to relax.

It very many hammocks and several of them are broken. People also tend to stake out a spot in the morning and leave their stuff in a hammock all day. The gardens are very nice here though.

With a little shade will be perfect!!! But we like it
