This rating is based on customer reviews, inventory size, pricing, and service quality
From the latest feedback, NYS Inspection Station in Brooklyn, NY scores a polarized 65/100. Many praise fast inspections, clear explanations, reasonable/state‑mandated pricing, and note it’s cash‑only with no onsite ATM. On the flip side, several report rude or absent staff, missed appointments, photo inspections refused, and occasional unfair waits; a few mention sloppy work. Professionalism and customer service vary widely—from friendly and thorough to dismissive. Pricing seems fair. Reviews don’t address inventory variety, yard organization, or part‑finding, so those are unknown.
What clients say about NYS Inspection Station in Brooklyn (NY)
I recently took my car to this auto shop for an inspection and had a great experience. The staff was professional, friendly, and explained everything clearly before starting the work. The mechanic thoroughly checked the engine, brakes, tires, and other important components, and they provided an honest and detailed report of the car’s condition. I appreciated that they did not pressure me into unnecessary repairs and answered all my questions patiently. The service was completed on time, and the pricing was fair. I would definitely recommend this shop to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy car inspection
Went there yesterday for my 3pm appointment, and the guy wasn't there. How disrespectful for you to make an appointment with a customer and don't be there.
Went to get my car inspected, the service was fast and efficient and overall the customer service was great. If you need an inspection this is the right spot.
The gentleman when asked If he could do a photo inspection said "NO" in such a rude and disrespectful tone, didn't even look up until I asked him again...
Very unprofessional. The owner has a terrible attitude and has no sense of urgency. All the other mechanics on the block are more professional and work fast.
I'm here now. There's a hanging sign that says New York State Inspection. The outer door is down. I'm standing here peering in. A woman comes. I tell her I need a car inspection and she says no and walk away. I'm a bit confused as I have a new car and the sign says they do inspections here.
This is your everyday Brooklyn type of shop. Don’t come here expecting a hand shake and coffee. Owner is older and pretty much just has no time for nonsense but just because he didn’t respond to you doesn’t mean he didn’t hear you. They will absolutely help you of they can. And you’re guaranteed to get what you need once your straight to the point.
Made an appt over the phone for a car inspection. Was given a time to come in which was Saturday 9:30. I arrived at my appt the owner looked at me and gave the dirtiest look. Didn’t think anything of it he was on the phone. When he was done I informed him that I had called and made an appt. He then tells me no I can’t do it I speak to a lot of people so no. Super unprofessional
If I could give them 0 I would, that’s the worst car shop that I’ve been, dirty guy seats in the car, smoking and doesn’t care about anything. Very poor quality of their work- DO NOT USE THIS CAR REPAIR STATION!
The service here was great upon arrival to the end of my inspection. Sean is always ready to share knowledge with you about your vehicle. He breaks it down in layman’s terms for the driver (especially females) to understand. So ladies if you are looking for a mechanic with integrity, Sean is your guy.
It was pretty quick and painless about 15-20 minutes. Car has been inspected and I'll see you next year. I think that the price is mandated by statute - $37.
Took my 2017MercedesE300. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, there was no wait , the older gentlemen was very nice and we spent time talking about cars. I was in and out within 20 minutes. Highly recommend this place. Will be coming here for all my inspection needs. Thank you !!
The job was done but it was frustrating getting 2 cars inspected. The owner threw his weight around and delayed the second car getting inspected. The wait was unfair.
This is the most unprofessional place I've ever visited. I called for a photo inspection on Sunday. Was told they were opened till 4 pm. I traveled a great distance to the place and once I reached the man was SO RUDE!!! I said I called for the photo inspection, the man just ignored me like I had two heads. I never got the inspection done. What is our world coming to? Is there no more decency? SMDH
One star is too many!!
