My vehicle was towed from private property for parking in the wrong spot, which I understand and am not disputing. My concern is with how the company handled the process afterward.
At the time of the tow, the required Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) tow operator license information was not visibly posted at the lot as required. The license information only appeared online after I filed a complaint.
When I called to ask about payment, I was told they do not accept credit cards in person. However, when I arrived to retrieve my vehicle, I was told they would accept a credit card. NYC-licensed tow operators are required to accept credit card payment at the time of vehicle redemption, so this inconsistency was concerning.
This was a private property tow, and NYC law caps the total charge at $125 for the tow and first three days of storage combined, and $15 per day thereafter. Despite this, I was charged an additional $150 “dolly and skates” fee, which does not appear to be an authorized charge under NYC private tow regulations.
Most concerning, the only way I was able to recover the improperly charged amount was after filing a complaint with the New York City Department of Consumer and Worker Protection. The refund was not issued voluntarily.
This was not about disputing the tow itself — it was about transparency, compliance with NYC regulations, and fair billing practices. I encourage others to understand their rights before paying.

I had this experience on July 25, 2025, and this review reflects my personal experience as a customer. All statements are accurate. After I filed a complaint with the DCWP, the company responded to the DCWP mediator on September 9, 2025, stating they would refund me. I have supporting documentation, including emails with the DCWP and a receipt from the company, if verification is needed. The owner’s claim that this is a ‘fake review attack’ is baseless — this reflects my actual interaction.
In what was probably a vacant lot, I went to pick up my car, 2 cars were blocking the exit so had to stand waiting in the freezing cold, no receipt given for the cash-only transaction (although she was very pleasant), car parked with the driver's side a few inches from a fence. Had to crawl over from the passenger side to get in. I'm a senior citizen, it was bitterly cold. I am technically not your customer (my neighbor who called you is), but it would help your image and business if you were a little more respectful of people you come into contact with.
I’m not sure what charge you refunded or who it was to but it wasn’t me. I had to pay in cash, your policy. Should I be looking for a check in the mail?
Not a good experience. I called them because a car was blocking the driveway in front of my house, and they never showed up. When I called back to ask for an ETA, a woman told me the tow truck was tied up with an accident. I thought—can’t they send another vehicle? I’m sure the company has more than one or two trucks. By that point, it had already been over two hours. Oh well, will I give them another shot to redeem themselves?? We will have to wait and see.
These guys are GREAT!!! If you want quick, efficient and smooth service they are the ones to call. Constantly dealing with a block driveway, this company will be on my speed dial. Thank you for such great service!!!!
Best towing experience I’ve had yet! Very friendly and courteous. Took great care of of my motorcycle and made me feel comfortable through the entire process. 10/10 would ask for again.

My wife car broke in middle of street on Qns blvd today and I contact my insurance for a tow truck, and after filled out a few question requested from insurance and less than 45 min tow truck car and lift up her car and tow nearby auto shop. This is by far the most affordable Heavy Duty Towing And Recovery Company's that actually give you honest ETA with Affordable Heavy duty Towing Prices when i reached out to rite away towing and the manager mike answered and was able to schedule a fast Pick up Time for my broken down fully loaded trailer broken air break hose on a monday afternoon rush hour traffic they got to me within the 40 min eta i was given. My Insurance company couldnt find anyone in the tristate that woud come out and take care of this very tricky Heavy-duty tow because of the loaded trailer. So my insurance said if i found a heavy duty to service they would reimburse me 100% for the tow. im glad i found them, Thanks guys i have you on speed dial.

My car would not start. I initially called another company for a tow at 10:30 a.m. they said someone would come in two hours. Let’s just say 4 hours had went by and I was still stranded. I googled this place Rite Away Towing and Josh pulled up with 35 mins no lie. Had my car hooked up and out in less then 3 mins. Very professional and easy to communicate with.
I used my fleet card for a tow after my box truck broke down on the expressway. Rite Away was contracted for the tow and they did a great job and sent a heavy duty wrecker. Jay was very helpful and expertly transported me and my truck from LIC to Nassau county.
