Very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful staff, they’ll give you lots of tips and tricks for any plant. They even said if a plant isn’t doing well they’ll help figure out why for free if you bring the plant in!

Excellent service! I bought two new plants and got two old ones repotted. I was taught how to properly care for them and was given helpful sheets as well.

I can’t recommend it enough. Service is great. Owner is super informative with plant care, tips and pointers. Their soil is AMAZING. I have stored their soil for a year and still without bugs. I have been using their soil for several years now and have never been disappointed. My plant roots are alway nice and healthy when I repot. The soil comes off loosely and not compacted. My plants grow nice and beautifully. I’ve tried many commercial brands and even fancy ones and they’ve all had some sort of bugs. My plant life is done for without their soil making it easy.

So happy to find this place! So many different types and fresh plants, and very professional staff!

I love this place they give you all the attention you need and you always leave out with something you didn’t know before. they’re very detailed on every plant that they sell and they even have exotic plants from time to time. This is definitely a place that’s worth to stop by if you were a planter or gardener

This is an amazing store with plants where you can learn how in correct way to take care of plants. Owner of the store is an incredible woman who can help you with any questions and she will give you written instructions how to take care of plants. You should follow her YouTube channel and Instagram. Almost every two weeks they have New plants, each plant with a sign where you can read a small instruction how to take care of it. Isn’t it awesome? Yes!

You can tell that it’s an excellent place coz the staff voluntarily shared with you to feel the leaf instead of soil in regards of watering and “come back if you have any problem”

Helena is an absolutely delightful woman and her staff are so sweet. She is so kind and knowledgeable and her shop has the best energy, it was a blessing to find her! Her store deserves nothing but success and support. I’m so glad I stumbled across her, all the way from South Africa, and I will support her any chance I can get. Thank you for running the loveliest plant shop I’ve ever been in!

Nice people who work there. Looks like it would be a great selection of plants too. Came in 45 minutes before closing, and two things were problematic. 1. No one was available to assist customers (well, 1 person was helping a customer) and the store had at least 10 customers in the store at the time. 2. Two of the employees were restocking or moving stock within the store at 45 minutes before closing. This made getting around the store very difficult, because the employees were moving large quantities of things around, blocking the flow of customers around the store, and left no one to help the customers to find what they needed so they could check out and get out. This left the customers without help, but also left the customers in the way of the employees stocking things during business hours, and having to be constantly moved from the path of the employees stocking things. Stocking during business hours is a big *no* for stores being able to support their customers, *especially* within the last hour the store is open, when customers could be assisted to make their purchase and then check out, so they were not still there when the store actually closed. I thought maybe this could be an anomaly, so I stopped in to the store on different days within the last 2 hours of the store's closing on different days. The same issue was happening. The store is not hurting for customers, but I would guess that the receipts at the end of the night say something different. If you cannot have the employees stock after you close, have them do it in the morning, when less people are in the store. I watched 6 or the 10 people in the store on my first trip to the store walk out irritated without purchasing anything. The other two times I stopped in, I witnessed similar things, with more than 5 customers being in the store each of those days while the other bewildered customers tried to get the attention of the other employees who were stocking. Another 2 customers walked out without being helped on the second day, and 3 customers walked out on the third day. 11 customers total walked out from around 20 customers over 3 days, because employees were stocking things and the customers were not being assisted. That is more than 50% of the customers leaving and going somewhere else to do their shopping. I'm going to try one more time to come in and shop. If it is still not feasible to shop there, I'll have to go to Lowes plant section, or stop by Chelsea Garden Center, Botanical Garden Center, or Natty Gardner. I am hoping Indoor Outdoor will be possible, because I live in Bay Ridge. We'll see.

This shop is jam packed with everything you'd need plus a nice sized garden in the back. I needed help with purchasing soil and Eric gave me a great recommendation. When checking out the owner made sure I knew everything there was to know before I even paid. True customer service. Looking forward to my next visit next week!

The attendant Eric was very helpful and knowledgeable about my plant. He helped my husband and I pick out the perfect plant for ou new home he even repotted it and gave us a detailed demonstration on how to do it for when it grows in the future. Eric also provided us with information on how to acre for the plant as well to know when it needs to be watered or not. I even showed him a picture of my orchid which I had concerns about and he advised me to bring it in so it can be further evaluated. The staff were very friendly and very knowledgeable about the plants. I would highly recommend coming here for your plant needs.

Love my little local plant shop I've gotten a couple plants from here an most likely will be back for more. The owner an employees are very attentive to the plants an the customers. Every plant is named an taken care of an they will let you know how to take care of it and fertilize it as well before you leave. They have everything you need to start your gardening.

Coming into this store was like a blast from the past. It's a classic Mom and Pop store with Mom (Helena) still working behind the counter. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The prices are a dream! Don't waste your time or money at big named stores, come to Helena and get what you need for your gardening supplies!

My favorite thing plant shop in Bay Ridge. The owner is incredibly kind and knowledgeable. She always takes the time to explain to you how to care for the plant. Any plant I have purchased here over the last 2 years is still alive and thriving. Helena is always willing to take the time to look at your plants if they get sick, I appreciate that. The woman at the register was incredible and thoroughly explained how to take care of our plant! She had us touch the leaves so we could see when it needed to be fed and was more than patient with us! Absolutely going there everytime!

Good selection of equipment if your into conventional or hydroponic gardening but not that great if you're looking for organic soil amendments and products. Don't get me wrong, they have very good brands of organic potting mixes etc but the more enthusiastic organic growers might be disappointed. Overall, really good selection and excellent staff, very knowledgeable.

This is an incredible place. I went there trying to revive an African violet that was one of the only things I had left from my grandmother. I got some great advice and my plant is now being nursed back to health with expert care. Also, they have a great variety of beautiful plants! Thank you so much!

They have everything you will need and EXPERT advice. A gardeners "must stop by" for any help. Also has all the necessary parts to make a drip system to keep plants watered while on vacation.

One of the best florists on 5th ave in Bay Ridge. Jam packed to the brim with a great selection of plants, some of which are even difficult to find in big chain stores. The workers actually care about the plants and are quite knowledgeable with their answers to questions. The plants they sell tend to be quick n the more higher light side so be ware if you have a dark north facing apartment. Their prices are quite fair, especially given the quality of their plants and accessories, being much better than any big chain store.

This is the best garden store ever!!! The shop offers a huge selection of beautiful plants and products to help them thrive you won’t find in most stores. What makes this shop really stand out from anywhere else though is the owner Helena. She is incredibly knowledgeable about any plant you can imagine and takes as much care with each customer as she does with her beloved plants. When me and my wife first moved to Bay Ridge we were novice house plant owners and struggled to keep the few we owned as healthy as we’d like. Luckily we stumbled upon this amazing store and with the help of Helena (Dr.Helena as people in the neighborhood know her), we now have a beautiful collection of healthy house plants that she helped us cultivate and continues to help us maintain whenever we have any questions. She is always more than happy to give free gardening lessons to any customer and goes above & beyond by offering to personally operate on any plants you maybe struggling with if you bring them back in. I wish every business owner took this amount of care with their customers and had as much pride in keeping customers happy as Helena and her staff do in this charming unique gem of a plant store.

If you're growing anything, this place will have what you want, including premium plants. I went for hydroponic supplies and they had everything I was looking for and more. Great service from the owner and staff. ? I'm looking forward to winter mint and basil! ?

Came in here for a planter after striking out at a local hardware store and was pleased with the selection. The shop itself is small, but feels cozy and is full of green things and gardening goodies. They have just about everything you might need for indoor or outdoor gardening supplies, plus a decent variety of plants (a couple of good looking ferns caught my eye that I might have to go back for). Prices seemed reasonable and the people working here were all pleasant and helpful. I overheard a woman giving advice to another customer on repotting and diagnosing a failing houseplant, and it sounded like she was very knowledgeable. I just needed the planter that day, but it's nice to know I could come in with questions in the future and someone would take the time to answer them thoughtfully.

Always love this place! The owner is great, super knowledgeable, and helped me turn my "brown thumb" into a green one! You can even bring your plants in and she'll help with any issues you're having.

I have been dropping in for years buying little odds & ends, sometimes just enjoying a walk thru the backyard nursery. When I recently had a question about rooting a cutting, Helena gave me thorough instructions, willing taking the time making sure I understood. Great experience! I look forward to returning and sharing pix of my progress.

An absolute gem in Bay Ridge. I have recently fallen more in love with this store. I was not a regular customer - not by a long shot. Then, my 4th grader had to do a science fair project and we chose to do "soil vs hydroponic - which will the bean thrive in better?" We needed some basic supplies and went to Indoor Outdoor Garden. Oscar and Helena were patient, informative, helpful and very pleasant. They did not push me to buy anything and still gave me their undivided attention and support. Helena is a retired teacher, so she gave us lots of helpful recommendations. Their products are very reasonably priced. They sell organic seeds and organic fruits/veggies that are already rooting so that you can plant at home (I think in May) I cannot thank them enough. Anyone can see that they have a true love and passion for what they do. They are awesome and I will definitely be buying my seeds, fruits, vegetables and flowers from them!
