I brought in a bridesmaids dress from Birdy Grey which are always made with very tall proportions. As a gal of but 5’2”, the whole thing needed to be reconstructed. David Holder, a true Master Tailor & Fitter, knocked it out of the park. He listened to all my concerns during the fitting, gave great advice, told me exactly which alterations would be made and how it might change the overall draping. Two weeks later, I had a dress that looked great and fit like a glove. Alts is definitely a pretty penny but you absolutely get what you pay for with excellent service, fantastic garment care, and peace of mind that your clothing is in good hands.

Gala did amazing work on my dress and Angeles was so helpful, making the process smooth and pleasant from start to finish. Got the length shortened, the waist adjusted, and the legs tapered on three pairs of jeans. Manager Gala was so kind. Everything fits exactly how I wanted and looks very natural. Super clean work — really happy with how they turned out.

I came in as a walk-in because a button had popped off my coat earlier that day. It was the middle of winter, so I needed it fixed quickly. They were super helpful and agreed to reattach it on the spot for me, and they even waived the rush fee since it was such a small task. The whole process only took around 10 minutes and they even mended a small hole in one of my mittens and reinforced one of the other buttons on my coat. Overall their service was amazing and I’ll definitely be coming back in the future!

Came here to have several high-end pieces mended and repaired. The shop itself was very busy and despite arriving late for my appointment, were quick to accommodate me. The service is highly attentive while relaxed. Gala, my tailor was easy to communicate with and offered to fix up one of the pieces that only required several button reattachments on the spot. All in all, a satisfying experience from someone who is very picky with tailor’s.

I had a wonderful experience at Alts in Park Slope. I brought in a dress that I loved but was on the verge of returning because I thought it would be far too tricky to get fitted properly. Somehow Gala worked magic and made it fit perfectly. It looks amazing. Beyond the tailoring itself, the entire experience feels high-end from the moment you walk in the door. The space is beautiful, the customer service is attentive and thoughtful, and you really feel taken care of throughout the process. It’s absolutely worth the price, and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back or recommend Alts to anyone looking for expert tailoring done right.

Don’t be fooled- go to a mom and pop, at least for anything simple. Plenty of dry cleaners nearby. Better prices and service. They wanted to charge me $60 to hem a pair of jeans. Nothing special. Hemming price on their website is $25 (same as my normal tailor for jeans). I left. Also turn around time was 2 weeks- I needed them a few days sooner, which they ended up agreeing to if I would promise to leave a positive review on pick up. Makes me untrusting of reviews. Also I tried to stop by after confirming their hours on google and found a sign on their door saying they were out from 2-3. So I had to wait around for almost an hour. I understand if you’re solo and need to grab lunch at a retail business. Put up a sign for 15 min and come back. But I saw at least 3 people working so this was obviously an outing and they didn’t care to update google. In my opinion, that alone tells you they don’t care about customers.

I’m an Alts fan. I’ve had appointments with a couple of tailors there who were great, and David, the assistant manager, is an exceptional tailor in every respect. He is precise and professional. I’m fairly exacting in my expectations, and Alts has met them every time. What truly distinguishes David is his willingness to go beyond what’s required—offering thoughtful guidance on the perfect fit in addition to achieving it. Highly recommend.

Completely ruined blazer sleeves and the hem job of pants. This was the second attempt at fixing what they messed up and made it worse. If you take something to them and they mess it up, do not let them try and fix it as the garment will likely be completely ruined. The blazer just needed the sleeves to be taken out. What they gave back to me was a very patchy sleeve where you can see and feel the additional fabric they added to extend the sleeve. I was initially told it would “wash out” - I don’t even know what that means. The second time around, the sleeves are now completely deformed. The blazer is a vintage Giorgio Armani that is priceless and can not be replaced. The pants- pretty easy hem job in my opinion. When I initially picked up the pants, they agreed the hem looked “janky” they agreed to fix, now the second time around, it looks even worse. These are $1600 khaite pants. If you do not have the expertise with certain fabrics or the alteration isn’t possible it would be much better for everyone if you just say you can not do it instead of trying 2x and messing up peoples garments.

This place is a gem, they are very welcoming and friendly. John A. was very knowledgeable and thorough. He spent time with me and gave different options on ways to hem my garments for me to choose based on my personal preference. I wore my newly altered clothes the day I picked them up and felt great and got lots of compliments. Highly recommend Alts!

I've had a several pieces altered at Alts and they've always done a great job. The tailors are always communicative and collaborative and while the prices are high they're justified by the quality of the work. Must better than your local dry cleaner.

I brought in my pants that had a significant tear, and the team did an amazing job repairing them. Gala, the fitter, is extremely experienced — she immediately knew the best way to fix the tear. The stitching is clean, strong, and practically invisible. The front desk team was very welcoming and made the whole process smooth. Highly recommend!

I needed two pairs of pants to be hemmed, and John was precise and efficient when measuring and making the alterations. The pants fit perfectly! Where do I begin? Should I start with their skillful tailors? Their attention to detail? Their very friendly service? Or their ability to go above and beyond to rush my complex alterations? I’ve now had an overcoat lining repaired, the sleeves of my puffy blazer shortened, and a complete refitting of a velvet corduroy suit to modernize the silhouette. It can cost a pretty penny, but you get what you pay for. And a peace of mind is worth a lot these days.

The building is unassuming but very cozy and nicely appointed inside. The staff were very friendly and the wait was very quick—they were able to fit me in and even complete the tailoring the same day in time for my weekend event. Gala the tailor was very efficient and also attentive to my style and preferences. I would definitely recommend their services for any alterations large or small!

Went here to get a suit tailored. It was my first suit and I'm a femme woman who's 5'1", so it's hard to find anything that fits right and the blazer needed quite a bit of adjusting. David Holder was so helpful, so patient, and upfront about costs and the breakdown. Every time I asked him if something could be done he said "we can do anything you want, it's just a matter of pricing." He had a great sense of humour, and made me feel very at ease. The suit ended up fitting perfectly and I got a lot of compliments at the wedding I went to!

Alts has been one of my best discoveries this year. I trust all of their tailors so much. Today I came in and in addition to my own clothes I had a pair of my partner’s jeans that had a loose button. They were able to fix the button on the spot while we worked on my other pieces. I so appreciated how accommodating and friendly and efficient and detail oriented they are and will definitely be back!
