Visited the ACE at 476 Bergen Street in Brooklyn. The young woman who helped me found me the exact piece I needed to do the repair at home. She was friendly and professional and knew her hardware. I would have been completely clueless on my own.
Incredibly rude when I called just now to ask if they had any dog friendly ice melt in stock. Guy said “no!” and hung up in my face when I said “oh ok, have a good one”
This place has the kind of friendly, neighborhoody feel that can be hard to find in NYC. The staff is super nice — every time I walk into the store I receive a warm welcome — and it feels like they’re really embedded in the local community. The store is also well stocked with a wide assortment of goods, and offers handy services like knife sharpening and key copies.
Called at 3:20 on a Sunday and was there before closing @4 Michael was so polite and informed and understanding! Let’s say I needed that and retail is hard enough but I needed a space heater for a client. Thanks to all other hardware spots for not having what I needed Ace has me now, thank you.
Such an amazing customer experience m! They helped me navigate my first paint job and were super kind and patient. Also everyone generally was so friendly and nice !
Love shopping in this store. Customer service is top notch. Always greeted upon arrival with an offer to help me find the item I'm looking for. Usually, they even lead me right to the location and help me decide and make sure I'm buying the right thing. Check out is friendly, fast and efficient. The store is also very well stocked with most every-day items. Not like a HD or Loews which can be overwhelming, especially when staff there often know litte about the products or how they relate to your needs.

Great staff! Especially the woman working today at 4:30. Greeted me and showed me the way! She was lovely and it’s super rare to get good customer service in nyc. I’ll be back!!
One of the nicest Ace store I’ve ever visited. I come here often and every time am greeted with a smile and someone ready to help find what I need an answer any questions. Got my knives sharpened today and the staff was super friendly and fast.
Words can not express how great this spot is! Every time I need a specific item for my operations, I can count on Mazzone Ace for anything. What really stands out is the staff. I've been going here for years and I'm always at ease knowing I'm getting the best service. They are inviting, friendly, resourceful and quite attentive towards the customers needs. Special shout out to Christian, Joan and Michael for your assistance the last time I went, y'all are rockstars, and I appreciate your patience and knowledge. Got my keys copied here by Destiny, who was incredibly helpful and sweet - she went the extra mile of helping me put the rubber circles on them and getting them back on their key ring (not an easy task). They also work great in the door, usually copies are really sticky and don't work well. Thank you Destiny!
Wonderful! Place especially the staff! I had a issue that involved a screw that broke off on a cage for a camera and I was trying to figure out a hardware place that would help me just get it out but a lot of them just said your on your own and have to do it yourself. But this ace hardware staff/ Louis went above and beyond said we can’t guarantee anything it would hurt to bring it in and we’ll see what we can do. They not only got the screw out the did with without asking for compensation even though I insisted. This place has great staff with big hearts!

The friendliest hardware store I've ever been to.
I'm new to the area, but I usually walk towards Fort Greene, so I tried both hardware stores on Fulton before I tried Mazzone. This will be my new default though.
They have staff at the door to be your personal shopper, making sure every piece fits before adding it to your order. I don't know if the primary motivation is customer service or antitheft, but either way, it made the experience more pleasant.
This is the best Ace I’ve been to, the employees are SO nice and helpful and seem to always be in a good mood. I hope that means they’re treated well by the owner and managers cause they really are lucky with this great staff that makes the experience so wonderful!! ??????
Excellent hardware store. The staff were all friendly, helpful and welcoming. I came into the store crying because I was having a bad day, but left smiling. They went above and beyond both to assist me and to make sure my day got better. We are lucky to have such an amazing local hardware store in Brooklyn.
Nice hardware store, clean and well stocked. Many sales people eager to help, but not all are experienced and accurate. Reasonable prices and good sample swatch selection on paint.
Incredible team at this Ace hardware! Especially Joan! I have been shopping with Joan for at least 10 years, and she is wonderful! Today I asked her about shortening a towel bar and she pulled out a saw and cut the bar perfectly for me! She is incredible! So helpful!

Every single time I've walked into Mazzone I've been helped immediately by a staff member. Their crew is amazing. They're all so helpful and professional. This sort of service simply doesn't exist in any other hardware store in Brooklyn, even in the smaller mom & pop shops. ??
This is a really good neighborhood hardware store -- well-stocked and well-staffed. I was particularly happy to discover that they offer quick and inexpensive knife sharpening, using a self-contained unit by Resharp. The knife is aligned using a laser and then the machine uses a separate laser to evaluate the edge, establish the proper bevel, and hone it. I had five knives beautifully sharpened in about 15 minutes. The staff person assisting me said that area restaurants bring in their knives every 4-6 weeks, which seems like a good recommendation. It's a great way to keep essential kitchen tools working well.
The kindest associates I’ve ever encountered! I came in with two PVC pipes and they not only helped me problem solve, but also aided me in fixing it. The store is clean, well organized, and well-stocked. Lovely warm-hearted people
If I’m going to the hardware store it’s for 1 of 2 reasons: I’m feeling creative and want to tackle a project, or I have a problem that needs to be solved. In both states of mind I need help, and they’re ready to give it with sincere empathy and expertise.
It’s clear that the employees seem to enjoy working there, enjoy each other, and love helping customers. They listen as I convolutedly explain whatever I’m trying to do (a wing nut I can’t unscrew, a mirror frame I need the right kind of paint for, etc) and they work with me until we’ve found a solution. They even stop me from over-spending if they think that product won’t solve the problem.
The best customer service experience I have ever had was here. I am seriously terrified of cockroaches, and when I started seeing them in my apartment I went here to buy some bug spray so I was armed for any more encounters. I was distraught and exhausted after a few days of dealing with it and as they were walking me through the spray options, I made a quick joke about the irony of putting pictures of cockroaches on the bottle since, if you’re buying the spray, it’s because you hate seeing bugs. As I shopped around for other things one of the employees took a can to the register and covered all the cockroach images with sale stickers so I wouldn’t have to see any cockroaches again!
They caught me in a pretty rough moment and went above and beyond to help. That little act of kindness certainly went further than they know. The people here absolutely rock. If you live in the area and need a hardware store it’s worth the trip!
UPDATED REVIEW
They went above and beyond to fix my paint issue. After reaching out to me and exchanging emails, I was unable to come by the store during typical hours today because I had some appointments downtown. They reached out to me after close and Luis, their Assistant Manager, offered to come to my apartment down the street to scan the tile that I was attempting to match with their handheld device.
He then went back and mixed me new paint and did an exchange, all after hours, to get me the paint that matched. Bagged up some snacks for my dog on the way out, as well.
Genuinely above and beyond service and care to fix an issue. I now know, and I hope this review helps others to know that they typically do no return or exchange mixed paint. That said, I appreciate the extreme care and empathy they showed and will definitely again be frequenting this neighborhood store.

Been here 2-5 times a week since I moved in down the street despite their prices and selection not always being the best and having to leave to go elsewhere. Don’t see myself going back after today.
Went in to buy paint, only needed a small amount but the smallest they sell is a quart, no sample sizes. Picked out a color and when they went to make it they said they were out of the type I requested and I’d have to go with one that’s $10 more expensive. They honored my $5 coupon that they otherwise wouldn’t have, but still…$30 for a quart was more than I wanted to pay, which I explicitly told them. But, I gave in to the more expensive paint they offered despite vocalizing that I was very hesitant.
They mixed it and sold it to me without doing a drop test on top to see if I liked the color. I thought nothing of it. Bought, went home, and did so myself. It didn’t match my item and was way brighter than the sample card. Went back 10 minutes later to return and they said no returns on mixed paints. I’ve never seen a paint supplier not take unused paint for returns. How on earth would they not tell that to a customer who was hesitant about a purchase, one who during the transaction said the paint wasn’t for a wall but for furniture.
I now have $30 of unusable paint and am going to have to find a new hardware store.
The very friendly staff is the only reason I am giving 2 stars versus 1.
