What clients say about Penn Station in New York (NY)
-
Great transit hall. All the vendors and eateries you'd expect. Plus the occasional musical entertainment is a nice break in your day.
Mar 07, 2026 -
It is sad to see how the city of New York allow Penn Station to become a homeless shelter and the people that are purchasing tickets and waiting for trains have to be subjected to people wondering upon them or trying to rob them or other stuff while the police stand there and do nothing. Born in New York in the 1960s and raised here I would have never ever thought that they would allow Penn Station to become rat-infested homeless infested big water bugs and yet the prices keep going up. Two stars to the fact that my train was on time

Clean and contemporary. A hug hub. Lots of people. But things are always organized.

Jonathan(Porter/rep) @Amtrak is awesome! Kind, professional, efficient and proficient. Also so kindly helped me when I left my cell phone on train. Refreshing and appreciated! Thanks so much! God bless! Oh & Moynihan Hall is beautiful & a welcome upgrade for my city! Nice foodie options also!🙂🙏🏾

The new Moynihan Train Station which houses the LIRR and Amtrak is lovely! Skylights and other modern, spacious architecture and an excellent food court!

This is Penn station. Lots of shops and restaurants. Easy to get around and everything is marked clearly.

Beautiful architecture. A must see place while visiting Manhattan, NY city. Fun place with great historical significance especially for railroad inthusiasts.
Dec 25, 2025 -
This is the older building in Penn Station. It feels much more cramped and isn't as clean as Moynihan hall. However, it still has pretty good wayfinding and lots of shops and cafes.

You know what you’re signing up for. Cushioned seats, might be stained. Might have to stand during peak times. Overall, not that bad. Quick easy way into Central NYC
Nov 02, 2025 -
Very safe y secure. Lots of uniform y non uniform security. Very clean. Great food court. Citibank ATM in the Amtrack/LIRR building. Subways are lower level. Great visual architecture. Across from Madison Square Garden, lots of outside resteraunts y shopping.

The history of New York's Penn Station involves the construction of a grand, Beaux-Arts station in 1910, which was a monumental gateway to the city, but was demolished in 1963 to make way for Madison Square Garden. Its destruction sparked the modern historic preservation movement and led to the creation of the NYC Landmarks Commission, saving other historic buildings. Today's Penn Station is a much smaller, underground facility that was heavily renovated in the 1960s after the demolition of the original above-ground structure.

We're always just a quick in and out of this place so I can't really review the facilities in its entirety. There are several fast food eateries and shops. We did stop at one of the food shops to grab some drinks & chips before getting onboard. But what little we experienced, it was fine. The only gripe would be better signage for track numbers.

Penn Station is the hub that keeps New York moving. It’s always full of energy, busy, crowded and maybe not the prettiest station in the world but it’s highly functional for travelers who can use Subway, AmTrak and LIRR services from here to get where they need to go. The food court has a variety of options, from Shake Shack to Raising Cane’s, from Chopt to Playa Bowls and there’s a Walgreens that can pretty much help every needs one may have while waiting to commute or travel around New York! I’m personally here every day and I must say that Pennsylvania Station is safe, with a lot of MTA Police constantly around and clean for the high amount of traffic that passes through daily. It’s I place in town that I love! Don’t expect luxury, especially during rush hours, but Penn Station does the job!
Sep 23, 2025 -
Love going through Penn Station. The shops, the artists that perform. Great hub. Accessible to all trains to all parts of NY and Jersey transit.
Sep 23, 2025 -
New York City’s iconic train Station to take the Long Island Railroad or the Amtrak. Very busy station all year around. Very nice to see again.
Sep 10, 2025 -
The timeless Pennsylvania station is regaining the cool.vinesnwirh the upgrades and connection to Moynihan Station across the street. At least tall people gets to walk without hindrance now 😃
Sep 09, 2025 -
Was my first train ride, fun and excited! The coach made a lot of noise and I felt a bit concerned about that part of it! Great experience though!!!

Walking Distance to many places like Empire State Building, Times Square and above all Madison Square Garden is just above the Penn station. If you're looking for reliable, convenient and well-connected transportation in and out of New York, Penn Station is a hard choice to beat. Penn Station is located in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, also looks like it’s renovated recently as it’s been so long since I been to Pen Station. But signage are well lit and easy to navigate even for first timer, It features restaurants, cafes, stores and waiting areas, making it easy to make the most of your time while waiting for your train. If I said it’s as big as decent size airport and trust me it’s not overrated, but if you get to the station you will know what I’m talking about.

Originally built in 1910 as a station house project for the Pennsylvania and Harlem Railroads, the project was the cornerstone of the New York City Train Service Sector. The original building was demolished in 1963 and was reformed with an expansion for the MTA. By the late 1960s, a new station building had opened, and continues to serve the people of New York City, with upwards of 600,000 coming on the average day. During my time in New York City, I rode to this station on NJ Transit and was often enamored and flattered at just how impressive and vibrant such an old central station was of this caliber. Nevertheless, coming out of the station, I was immediately surprised by the General appeal and the layout of the station, they have managed to turn this station from just a simple place to breeze through and catch your train in the 1960s decade, the new version of Penn Station features many shops and restaurants from big name brands such as Auntie Anne's, Chick-Fil-a, Hudson News, Dunkin', Insomnia Cookies, and many more places to enjoy in the station. Getting to the connecting trains was also a simple and self aware process. When it comes to the structure of the station, the 1, 2, and 3 lines operate out of the west, while the A, W, and E lines to the north for example, allowing for connections to other parts of Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn. The station could also get crowded at times, as you strive to traverse to your train in the Moynian Train Hall. The one issue of this station that I must mention unfortunately is the condition of the restrooms. After a long day of travel in Manhattan, or Brooklyn, the one thing you don't want is to have to find a working sink. The problem persisted for me in my first visit after a day in New York, as the sinks failed to work, and only one of the four functioned properly. People tend to also be be lousy with their aim, or forget to flush, leaving a major mess in the area and making the area more undesirable. I will, for certain return here anytime I come to New York City to admire the charm of travel and the hustle and bustle of the city.

I like the updated LIRR Penn Station. It has allot of food spots to get food from while waiting for train. Has MTA police and customer service if help is needed. It’s pretty clean. I would rather take the LIRR over the subway any day. It’s faster and cleaner
Jun 22, 2025 -
The LIRR is very convenient to access NYC and downtown Manhattan from anywhere in Long Island. We took the train from Babylon and reached Penn station, Manhattan in just over an hour. Tickets are easy to purchase online and can be used within 30 days. The access to subway and bus connection were easy to navigate via signs and plenty of eateries and shops were available around Penn Station.

New parts of the station are much nicer and cleaner. Older parts are not good. 10pm on a Monday night. Homeless shelters must be overrun and full. Police don't do anything to resolve this. Makes for a scary walk through to subway. You will get robbed at some point. People are on drugs and drunk. It is scary. Please save NY.

Always busy as expected. The station is well organized, clean and has modern buildings. The official was very professional, kind and helpful. It was great experience being here. Love New York

Penn Station is well-managed, with easy access from buses and subways for convenient directions. From here, you can access the waiting area by showing your ticket. There are plenty of food options, along with shoe-shining services and quick snack shops. Information screens are strategically placed to help you find your gate with ease. The overall ambiance is great and well-organized.

I find that it's an easy place to get off and explore the city. Food hall has many selections while you wait and there are a few little shops to visit. Looks as if there has been a lot of renovation work going on, interesting architecture and history.
May 12, 2024 -
It is busy, and the old Penn side is really showing its age. But much renovation is happening, and the areas renovated are fantastic. It is still one of the most convenient places to get off if you want to explore the city.

Beautiful architecture and a great building. The entryway is amazing with the arches and really high ceilings. And then when you walk in, it is big and wide open. The staff are helpful and are always available to help direct you with directions on where you need to go in the station. They have tons of shopping and food options on the lower level. It's like a shopping mall down there. The place is also very clean and well-kept up even though there are some homeless people around.

Centrally located and very convenient to walk from the hotel. Clean and easy to access. Intercity travel also is available from the same station. Lots of food and coffee options available. Enough waiting area available as well in case it’s a long wait.

I am always here but have never left a review. It is my favorite station compared to Mohiyan and Grand Central. There are trains to all parts of Jersey and LI. The trains are pretty reliable just pay attention to signs and overhead announcements. There is a lot to do in the station and food that is not overpriced so if you have a delay or wish to come in earlier it will not be a bad idea. Just that there aren’t general sitting areas. However if you have a ticket you can seat in the designated ticketed area. There is also a restroom it is very busy but the lines move very fast!
