What clients say about The Home Depot in New York (NY)
-
We went there to choose paint, and the staff was very helpful. They helped us pick the right colors and gave us sample sizes to test at home, which made the decision much easier. Someone even explained a limewash technique we were interested in, which was great.
I also really liked their selection of home plants. So many beautiful options. I’ll definitely come back for that.Feb 12, 2026 -
We went in yesterday to get a new planter for my daughter’s plant. In the garden section we had the good fortune to find Jen. She was as helpful and knowledgeable as any associate I have encountered in any Home Depot (and I have spent A LOT of time in many Home Depots. What a pleasant surprise in NYC. Worth a special trip to 23rd street Home Depot!

Helpful, courteous, clean. I went looking for a particular type of box. Couldn’t find it but the staff gave me a great idea.

This home depot is great! All the staff is super helpful and they have almost everything a Home Depot outside the city would have. They will deliver your purcheses for a small fee which is stellar if you buy a lot or something huge and don't have the hands to carry it all home!!

Everyone on the floor was excellent. J Jelissa was the most superb checking me out and helping me leave the store. Extra special. Probably best retail experience I can recall. 5 stars not enough. I say more.

I came into this Home Depot simply to get keys made after moving into my new condo which just so happens to be on 14th Street. A very short walk away. While leaving the restroom, an older white male employee made a comment implying that people “come from wide and far just to use the bathroom,” clearly directed at me, a Black woman walking out alone.
Unbeknownst to him, I had made a purchase (which fit in my purse) and had my receipt. He then followed up with “Can I help you with something?” in a tone that felt more like suspicion than customer service. He repeated the comment(“see what I mean, they come from wide and far just to use the bathroom,”) again while speaking to another employee (Who just so happen to be a Black man)
This was racial profiling, plain and simple. I normally don’t engage with ignorance, but I reported it to a manager because behavior like this should not be ignored. The manager said it would be addressed, but I believe situations like this call for real accountability and retraining, not just a quiet conversation.
I expect better from a store where all customers should feel respected and welcome. This experience was uncomfortable and disappointing! The only reason why I did happen to leave 3 stars is because Ola, the lovely woman who assisted me was professional, kind and went above what was required and helped me with this situation after she helped me make my purchase.Jan 18, 2026 -
I had many things to find today, attempting a new creative project and I'm NO tools person. ROBERTO at Customer service helped me extensively 3 times! Sending me back downstairs, each time, LOL, CAILAN was very knowledgeable and helpful narrowing down my list with very specific items. He quickly knew every location and exactly what I needed. Thank goodness, cause I had absolutely NO clue! After finding EVERY item I needed. Plus some, I was checked out by the most beautiful smiling angel ever JINAE. Jinae was most delightful and asked me all the extra checkout questions and suggested other items before me exiting the store. KUDOS HD for hiring such incredibly fantastic people to make my experience easy and great. Give these three employees raises, bonus, promotions & 5 gold stars ! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I had a great experience at the Home Depot on 23rd Street this past Sunday afternoon. First, I just want to say how glad I am that Home Depot still exists as a physical store. It’s so much better to be able to see, touch, and feel products in person and most importantly, to ask questions rather than trying to figure everything out online.
The entire staff at this location was extremely helpful and welcoming, but one associate in particular truly went above and beyond. A very kind gentleman named Jobayer (I hope I’m spelling that correctly) took the time to patiently answer my questions and made sure I left with exactly what I needed. His professionalism, knowledge, and genuine willingness to help really stood out.
Customer service like this makes all the difference, and it’s the reason I’ll continue to shop at this location. Thank you to the 23rd Street Home Depot team, and especially to Jobayer for such a positive experience!Jan 13, 2026 -
I was there on Saturday and a Sandra in storage helped me. She suggested a drill for a small project, she helped me in garden hardly anyone there?? And helped me pick out some storage bins. I have been coming to this location for years, and I love seeing employees like this. The ones who actually know what they are doing, others are just blah attitude. This young lady gives attention to detail and beyond patient. Hire more people like her. Also please update your website you say you have items in stock and they are not actually there at all. Thank you

Shout out to Eli at this 23rd st Home Depot location for providing exceptional customer service. I was looking for someone to help me find the pieces I needed, and when I asked him specifically for help, he said, "I'm on my lunch break, but I can help you". He helped me find all the pieces necessary to safely anchor my Ikea Pax wardrobe to my old apartment wall made of lath & plaster. He helped me find the toggles I needed, and also called out the size of the drill bit I needed for those toggles (1/2") to confirm whether or not I already had a drill bit that size. I didn't have a 1/2" drill bit, so he helped me find that too, which alone saved me a separated trip to home depot. Way to look out for the customer and problem solve ahead of time, Eli! Not only did he sacrifice part of his lunch break to help me, he took his time doing it and was methodical, making sure I didn't miss any parts. Amazing customer service. Thank you, Eli!

This is the best home depot in NYC region. People are very polite and knowledgeable. I was trying to fix the textured ceiling. Danny in the paint section taught me how to do it with one productor. He explain the detail and the best way to patch it. It worked so well.

This Home Depot is located conveniently right off the F and M lines at 23rd between 6th and 5th Avenue. It is usually well stocked, and you can check the website to see if what you need is in stock at that store before you go in person. They have a TON of people working there, just waiting for you to ask them something, so use them to help you.

The customer service in the paint department was exceptional. Michelle and David (Ray) were incredibly patient and answered all my questions with care. They guided me through everything, reassured me, and were both knowledgeable and genuinely helpful. I can be a little… extra at times, but they really took their time with me — and that made all the difference. I’ve already sent two colleagues their way for paint needs. Thank you so much!

We wanted to acknowledge Keith at the 23rd street location for his exceptional customer service!! He went out of his way to help us with getting more information about a specific lamp and lighting. His knowledge goes above and beyond. We are so pleased!

They have a surprisingly great amount of materials and tools here, cool two story store and the staff are incredibly helpful in helping you find whatever tools you need! They also are very knowledgeable about their tools and applications too.

I am writing to extend my deepest appreciation for the Home Depot located at 40 west we 23rd street. Two exceptional employees, Tamika and Tia, who turned what began as a challenging visit into a truly uplifting experience. After navigating the store, I made my way to Customer Service, where these two phenomenal women transformed the moment into one of ease, professionalism, and genuine care.
Even as the store was preparing to close, Tia and Tamika greeted me with patience, kindness, and dedication. They not only helped me return a damaged product with efficiency, but they also made me feel valued, respected, and seen while upgrading my purchase with additional products on sale. Their positive energy and teamwork reflected a deep commitment not just to their roles, but to the spirit of service itself.
Always pleased to encounter individuals who go above and beyond with such authenticity. I’m thankful that Home Depot takes the time to hire employees who genuinely love what they do and it shows. Tia and Tamika embody what customer service should look like: professional, patience, proactive listening, passionate, and purpose-driven.
Kudos to these two queens for their excellence, patience, and light. Please extend my heartfelt thanks and recognition to them both. Home Depot is blessed to have such radiant representatives on your team. Anyone who reads this friendly reminder Great people do exist!!

Jacob at the Appliance Center was exceptionally patient and helpful this evening. I had ordered a washer and dryer online but had a terrible experience with the delivery team, who struggled to communicate clearly. I went to the store in person to pick up the necessary parts, and Jacob went above and beyond — he thoroughly explained what I needed, helped me gather all the required items, and guided me on the next steps by connecting me with the right person to resolve my online order issue. I truly appreciate his time, expertise, and support tonight.

I hope they didn’t think I forgot about them. I went to this Home Depot due to proximity to where I was. And I was surprised to find exemplary service in the paint department from Tiarra (the pumpkin whisperer) and Kurt who both know this department all too well. I was able to pick up all that I needed to start my paint project. Not only did they know their department we had friendly banter. I’ll be returning and tell Tierra I want to see how her design came out on her Halloween pumpkin. But the friendly courteousness didn’t stop there, upon taking my items up to get checked out it appears that there are multiple staff member at the register who created a great atmosphere: Victor, Petra, Maureesha and Jusiah. Victor rang me up and even assisted me in getting my very first HD credit card. This was very helpful. As he rang me up the rest of the crew were very fun to speak with and clearly know how to blend a good time and getting work done which is rare to see in the service industry (let alone Home Depot). Petra has jokes and Maureesha is clearly an artist how she drew her name with that vibrant design on her apron. Keep up the incredible work guys.

Came here a few weeks ago with my bros to look at new washers and dryers for the frat house in Delaware. We looked around at the washers and dryers and decided they were all shit boxes and we r gonna go with a commercial hard mount milnor washer instead. We were trying to be tight asses but knowing how much laundry the frat house produces we need something more industrial. Cool store though I never been to a Home Depot with escalators . That was low key hella cool! We also saw a huge skeleton Halloween decoration and we said howdy to it and the skeleton tipped its cowboy hat at us and said howdy partner. If u don’t say howdy to the skeleton it will bully u and all the employees will laugh at you because you got bullied by a skeleton . Us frat boys got our laundry room all set up. We have 3 60 pound washers and 4 93 pound dryers ! Thanks to milnor that is. We would definitely come back here as this store was very clean and organized and all the employees r super friendly.

I've been to several home depot. by far this location is staffed by the calmest, most helpful, resourceful employees. Every where you look someone is willing, able and ready to answer all your questions, give suggestions and full interaction. It is very clean and pleasant. Fully stocked to the top. I love the 23rd street home depot.

Went this evening and had the best experience! A kind older Black woman helped me with plants, and at checkout a male employee ran to help me carry my big plant. Amazing customer service at this location!

An extremely extensive hardware store for the middle of Manhattan, there’s a ground level with home appliances and lighting and a sprawling basement with anything else you could need.

Key copies for $5 ish, and absolutely everything else you’d need! Folks doing the key copies were a bit slow so there was a considerable wait, but I’ve always loved Home Depot overall. Super organized store, the app will tell you exactly where each product is down to the aisle, bay within each aisle, and where all that is on a multi-level store map. Cute garden center too! : ) always friendly and helpful staff!

I honestly don't have anything negative to say about this location of Home Depot. I've been frequenting this Home Depot for years now and it never disappoints. The staff is always kind and helpful and whether I need paint, tools, a variety of plants to spruce of my home, I can always find it at home depot. I mean seriously, this place helped me do a renovation on my home back in 2018. I bought SO many items such as tools, an AC, vinyl flooring, plants etc. They have everything with a very decent return policy if something doesn't work out as intended.
They have seld check out registers as well as cashiers on the tills. In my opinion, the lines aren't that bad either.
The prices are okay for a brick and morterstore and they have great hours from opening to close to get everything you need. My one gripe is that employees of stores such as this is that.... they should be PAID better. I'm giving a 5 Star review because of the people who work there and how helpful they are..... consistently. So please pay the employees more for their effort. Just saying.Mar 23, 2025 -
This is a gorgeous HD store right in the heart of Flatiron area. It spreads over three floors. Very clean. Upper floor mostly has electronics, sales and management offices. Beautifully decorated with plants and trees, a rare sight for any HD. First floor has the customer service, Pro project desk and checkout. Lower floor is the largest floor among all. Throughout the store they have incredible number of products, with lots of variety in inventory. Lots of associates are walking around the store, some are always available in the customer service desk. Products are priced same as the prices on their website, it’s not hiked up despite the store being in the city.
I have walked into the store several times for different needs like making copies of keys, buy scissors, paper tape, glue and bunch of other things time to time. They have lots of self checkout booth, I never had to wait in line.Sep 13, 2024 -
This Home Depot has an incredible wide selection of houseplants which includes the most common ones and a few more rare varieties. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable. The store is clean and organized. Plants are healthy and they’re reasonably priced.

This is hands down one of the nicer Home Depot stores I’ve been to. They have a great rug selection in stock in various sizes. There are plenty of store associates who are ready to assist. Check out was also quick considering there were several people in line.

The home Depot is one of the go to places for all your home needs. They always have a wide variety of necessities. They're also a season ahead, so the Halloween and fall decor are already out. Everything is always so neat and organized it's really easy to find anything. The staff of each department is very knowledgeable. I recommend getting a store card, you'll get discount too. Definitely check them out and you wouldn't be disappointed

Great experience at the Chelsea Home Depot. Employees, security and all staff are friendly and helpful. Everyone is usually happy to help you find item you're looking for or will you in the direction of employee who works in that department. Pretty good sales usually best to use app and see if they have what you want in stock as was as if it's on sale. Recommend?

Such a cool and unique Home Depot! Being from the Midwest I had never seen this type of Home Depot before so was very intrigued to see how those in NYC shopped at a store such as this. They had the majority of stuff you'll find at most Home Depots. They do not cut lumber and I didn't really see a huge lumber selection overall. I'm assuming this just because of logistics and that you can't really fit any big trucks or trailers in a parking lot out front(it's just right on the street). However for all other home items or tools and such; this is the place to go.
