What clients say about H&M in New York (NY)

The ppl working here need proper training and management.
Never had a bad experience in other HM stores but this one is just not worth going.Dec 16, 2025 -
If there is a 0-star ,I would give it to h& m
The girl that she works at the register her name is jade she has a bad attitude zero customer serviceAug 08, 2025 -
I always like looking gor clothes here. If you catch sale season you can find nice quality clothes for unbelievable prices.
Jun 24, 2025 -
H & M is a great clothing store! Their prices are incredibly reasonable and they have a great selection of, wonderful helpful staff and goid sized fitting rooms.
May 08, 2025 -
I was just at this 86th st location and I noticed they were Marking up the prices on the out of season clothes, instead of marking them down like other retail stores do. When I asked One of the workers why were they Up charging for the clothes and putting more expensive price tags over the original price tag, The worker rudely responded "Sounds like something you need to be asking my manager". Having worked in retail myself in the past, I automatically know something didn't seem right. Seems like some type of in store scam is going on

Like the area. This H&M has two floors and ranges from womans wear, children's and men's wear. I gave it a 3 star review because they don't carry enough large and x large sizes. If you want something simple like a nice t shirt or sweats then it's great but I usually shop online (I come to this location frequently and it's always the same problem). I was being generous with a 3 start because I like H&M online (there sales are good when you catch them and being a member (free) has it's perks).

I’m going to start off positive since I really do love this location thanks to the friendly hardworking staff that always go above and beyond to assist me. Such as Caress, Sylvia and Sharon. These three work hard, going above and beyond every encounter I’ve had with them! However, there is a manager working at this location who quite frankly never looks happy she always seems so bothered. Honestly FRANNY is not a nice person. Working in customer service should require some sense of professionalism, kindness, problem solving as well as being a customer advocate! She does not have a positive attitude at all. Customers love walking into an environment, where they know they’re going to be helped and also where they see familiar faces. It makes them feel welcomed. Apparently she has a problem with that. i’ve been a long time customer and always come to this location one because of the service and two because it’s convenient. I’m sorry your managers can do a whole lot better. Just because staff is friendly does not mean they are not working.

Meybelline was super helpful, very friendly and was overall such a great worker. She made my experience so amazing!

It’s a 2 floor stoor. Pretty clean and organized. Well behaved and welcoming staff. A bit small stock than expected as per the size of the store. Busy area. Subway nearby. Paid Parking on the street.

Can't begin to say how much I appreciated the sales clerk this evening who carefully credited returns that my spouse ordered twice by accident online. She was beyond patient and deserves to be employee of the year. Wonderful. Professional. Kind.

Today I was shopping with my sister and my baby. Of course I had a stroller and my baby running around. Trying to maintain her & I love jewelry so I was looking at what’s new. Then realized one of the employees who maybe work security made me feel uncomfortable because he was acting like he looking through the rack of women clothes but really watching my baby and I. I truly felt uncomfortable because I’m like maybe I should just come shopping without my baby because I don’t want to have to be stalked while shopping because I have a baby stroller. I just felt annoyed and didn’t even want to shop anymore. I love Jesus and shoplifting would never be my character. I just waited for my sister to purchase and then left. I’ll never attend this one again. Just because I felt uncomfortable. Then he realized we not that type of people. He left. Annoyed. That’s all.

On Saturday I went to do some shopping. I was searching through one section and accidentally made some items fall. One of the worker talk and has glasses came rudely to me and said what are you looking with a bad tone.unacceptable. That’s your job to pick up the clothes. Besides that I love H&M. Workers and people in New York are very angry these days. Move from New York.

I had an excellent experience at H&M thanks to David, the manager. As a busy mom of a cool 20-year-old, I rushed in for some last-minute purchases and to pick up an online order. David went above and beyond to assist me, ensuring everything went smoothly and quickly. His attentive and friendly service made my shopping experience stress-free and enjoyable. Kudos to David for his outstanding customer service!

This store has changed. I have shopped here regularly in the past, but now when I shop here I am followed by the security guards and sometimes the employees around the store and it is the most uncomfortable experience. I feel inclined to start a conversation with the employee just to reassure them that I’m not a criminal. It feels ridiculous to be honest. Perhaps they have a specific type to look for and I fit the bill, but unfortunately I won’t be shopping here again.

I was visiting from Alaska and decided to make a quick stop at this store. I bought a few things that I fell in love with. So clothing is beautiful--- On the other hand, employees need to work on their manners and be more courteous when responding to questions. The security at the door was doing his job, but need to relax a little bit more and stop staring and intimidating people. I'm a 50-year-old woman and trust me; I had no bad intentions while in the store.

If I could give 0 stars I would, this store is very unprofessional when it comes to the store manager and how they treat the staff there. Only reason I’m leaving 3 stars is because all the employees are always very helpful whenever I go, and seeing as how this happens to be the closest H&M to me I go pretty often. There have been a handful of times where the store manager is seen scolding her employees right in front of customers as if no one’s there in front of them, as I read recent reviews about how the store manager has done this on different occasions I realized how often this must be happening. Hopefully they find someone else quickly who actually knows how to be a manager and hopefully someone with decent simple manners.

Im giving this store 3 stars because the staff was super helpful the day i was there. However I honestly feel really bad for them. I was is the store making a purchase and was witness to a female manger with a short black bob practically yelling at this really short female employee. It was really uncomfortable to watch because no managment should be talking to anyone that way. I asked an employee about it and she said the girl she was yelling at was their supervisor. I prey they find a better manager. Nobody should even be addressing staff on the floor like that.

This location has a great selection of clothes and ample sizes. It's just that they do need more staff. I stood online waiting to pay for an item and also pick up an online order for over 25 minutes. I have to say the young man that was checking everyone out was exceptionally professional and patient. I would have lost my cool 5 times over. Management needs to do better. You can't have a line almost 20 people deep with just 1 person on the register. That's just horrible customer service.

5 stars for selection and layout but 2 stars for experience. This location is literally always understaffed (or not using enough employees as cashiers). I’ve left this specific H&M location several times now bc I didn’t have time to wait in a checkout line that went well past the designated area and anywhere from 1-3 cashiers working.

I just had a strange experience at this location. I went to return something with the tag on and when the manager picked it up the tag fell off. Then she said that she didn’t remove the tag and that I can’t return it. But it wasn’t the price tag it was those additional item tags they put on some of their clothes. So then I called customer service while there and customer service said that they need to accept it at the store. So I asked them to stay on hold so that I could find the manager. The manager saw me and started walking away so I had to follow her up the escalator. I told the manager that I have customer service on the line and she said that she doesn’t understand what I need from her. I told her that I’m on the phone with customer service who are saying that they will accept my return and will repeat it to her so I put customer service on speaker at which point the manager said that I’m going to have to call them back and then she started walking away so I asked customer service to stay on hold and when I went to follow the manager she said “you’re going to have to stop before you make me feel like you’re following me”. Then she walked away to the fitting rooms on the 2nd floor before I could ask her any more questions and obviously I wasn’t going to follow her after her last comment because I could tell that she was being hostile and could escalate the issue beyond what it actually was. I ended up just mailing the item back but it would have been great to return at the store and not have to have an experience like this where I was made to feel uncomfortable.

It was nice. Lots of sale items. I thought I was getting a pair of jeans for 19.99 because it was in the sale section that stated so. Sometimes people put stuff back in the wrong area. A little disappointed but I understand. And then the impulse pair of striped pants I bought don't fit well. The dressing room was closed. Good thing they have a decent return policy.
Don't be discouraged! It's a nice store to shop.Jan 05, 2023 -
This is why everyone shops online. Almost no staff and cashier stations closed with massive lines at the ones open. It's a shame

I waited in line to do a return at the upstairs register & Liza (per her necklace) the email has sa: 887229 as her employee number walked off to help another customer. I asked her a few times to please help me with my return as I have a child waiting outside with my husband. She said I had to wait & was completely rude. There were other employees not on the registers at the time that could have helped the customer that cut the long line if need be. She kept telling me she was going to help us both at the same time. I told her that I waited in line and it’s not fair to me. She get very rude with me & refused to focus on my transaction and did not apologize for her lack of customer service towards me.

Fast fashion at its finest. A wide choice of clothing with attentive sales staff and duds were perfectly positioned, stocked with ample sizes. One of Manhattan's smallest sites and now one of our favorites. An ideal location for picking up some basic pieces needed in most closets.

I always find something for a good price. This H&M has a great kids section as well. I like this store because they have an upstairs and a pretty good selection of clothes for all genders. They don't follow you around like a lot of stores and the workers are helpful and seem friendly enough.
This particular H&M is on 150 86th NYC.Jul 08, 2021 -
The store is two floors and has a large selection of clothing. There is a men's, women's, children, and baby department. There are also dressing rooms located on the 2nd floor (currently closed due to COVID). There are both elevators and escalators to get to the second floor. There are also registers on the ground floor and the second floor. The staff are very helpful. I can always find something when I visit this location.
Apr 01, 2021 -
This location has a great layout. However, the sales associate are very few on the sales floor if you need help.
Jan 09, 2020 -
I think rather than comment on the quality of the clothes themselves which is just a review of H&M in general, I'd rather focus on this location in particular. I think, as other reviewers have mentioned, that the store is usually quite crowded which can be a pain but I have had no issues with the service. In fact, in all my experiences, the service has been top notch and I've been able to return ripped items and wrong size items easily even without a receipt which has been a big plus. I wish there were more sales reps to reduce the lines but other than that I think the sales are priced quickly, the location is incredibly convenient (right next to the subway station), and I've had no trouble with returns. Definitely one of the good locations in the city.
