Came by looking for muslin fabric in specific dimensions for a theater production. The gent who helped me was great! He got me the right fabric, and cut it for me to the exact sizes I needed. Also gave a small cash discount. Took all of 5 minutes on a Monday around 3pm.
Lovely kind people, the mench who owns the store is lovely and im not sure if it was his mother with him but so so lovely and helpful. Very kind and amazing cheap fabrics! Go there all the time. I never leave reviews but this place deserves to be extremely popular!
The guy there was very helpful and nice. They have a great selection of fabrics for such a small space. I bought this beautiful fabric for $10.00 a yard.
The prices are marked on most of the bolts, so you don’t have to ask for prices on most things. The only downside to this place is that the place is super small, which limits their selection when compared to the other stores in the area. What they have is usually extremely well curated, though, so it’s mostly good stuff. Staff is super helpful, as well, and has even stayed open late to let me get some last minute necessities. They even gave me a %33 discount on one of my more expensive items, which really helped. Thank you for knowing how to make a customer feel valued, and the importance of building relationships with them that ensure future business! Great work, guys.
I asked for 100% cotton and I got a blend. Shame they'll take advantage of people who don't know better. Now I'll NEVER go back and thousands will see this review!
Best best best!!!! David, the man who works there, is super nice and knows a ton about fabrics! Everyone working there is eager to help even if you are a beginner. I never have to wait and always get the best fabric and service for the best price. What a great store! I recommend to everyone!!
This is one of your best options for affordable quality fabrics in the garment district. This place offers discounts to Pratt, Parsons and FIT students. Just bring your student ID with you. This place is open on Sunday too. I recommend this place for most of your school projects.
I love this place. It is a hole in the wall, but they have most fabrics (felt, cotton, blends, reversible sequin fabric!). They are super helpful and give advice if you want to chat with them about your project. Have come here multiple years in a row for making Halloween costumes.
This place is amazing! If I could have spent more I would have walked out of there with too much to carry. They have some really nice silks for a great price. They don't have huge rolls since they are the end rolls from various clothing manufacturers, but what they do have is nice. They also gave me a great deal on some gorgeous lace. I just wish they had a web site or sold through mail order since we live in Colorado.
Possibly the tiniest gem of a fabric store in existence. I found some incredible deals here (a gorgeous hammered silk for a STEAL!) and the owners were really helpful in trying to find fabrics to match my project.
Lots of silk. Lots of silk on sale. There were several people in this small sho p who were eager to help. Barrels outside had more sale bolts. If you need something very specific you might not find it, but there are loads of choices... if random. Also some basics: muslin, tulle, etc.
I work in Financial District and wasn't sure where to go for reasonable prices. I fell upon this store in a google search and the positive reviews are accurate. I am very happy with my purchase. I am starting a new project and needed reasonably priced fabric. They have a nice range of prices for quality fabric. ***THING TO KNOW*** they don't have any accessories (zippers, hooks & eye, bias tape, needles, etc); they only carry fabric *****

EDUCADEMY highly recommends Truemart Discount Fabrics. A great assortment of fabrics- from discount and designer fabrics. This location is perfect for students or anyone that is interested in the field of fashion or just wants to create a great piece that will fit their needs. Note: This location is less than three blocks from FIT. Their staff is client oriented, they take the time to explain the different options and suggestions to provide great service and support our different projects. We would definitely use their services again. The prices are very affordable.
I highly recommend shopping at Truemart Fabrics. There is a large selection of beautiful fabrics at unbeatable prices. The customer service is wonderful as well. They are willing to help you with all your textile needs. Overall, i had a great shopping experience and plan on returning for more amazing discounted goods!

Actually not cheaper than in average stores and sorted like hell. So much fabrics, that I could barely walk. Overall shop size smaller than my living room. The staff tried to be helpful, but due the overall atmosphere I left very quickly...
I didn't have the highest expectations for this shop, but I was amazed when I walked in! They have excellent quality, affordable silks as well as unique prints, brocades, and some textiles I can't even name!
The staff are so friendly, and are happy to help you, or cut you a deal if you ask :) I will more than certainly go to them for any of my textile needs!
Great place! Store is tiny and packed full, so I could see how it could seen intimidating/overwhelming, but I walked in and was immediately helped and shown around. Will go again and again.
I nhave never written a review here but I will say that they are the most fun and helpful group ever... people say new yorkers are mean well these people arent among the. A very quirky fashionable lady is always there with a compliment and a smile then there is the very handsome latino guy who is very helpful when it comes to carrying things and finding fabric LOL and there is the owner guy I think? he was awesome and came down on prices a little bit for me.
Whenever I am in NYC I will always make it a point to stop in and say hello to them =)
