One f my favorite spots to go thrifting. They have a wide variety of items including dining wares, furniture, clothes, shoes, arts, and jewelry. I always enjoy my time exploring in the shop.

Friendly staff, good selection, organized and clean store. Always pop in when I can. Great local Housing Works location.

Oh brother. This place sucks. I came with an unused velvet swivel arm chair, from a cat and dog free home. Knocked on the side door and was ignored aside from some self important customer screaming I had to go around. So I walked through a crowded store with the chair, set it down, and was asked but one question: “did you text a picture to our manager?” No, no I did not. “Oh well, we don’t do things like that.” No other words, just had to turn around and leave. Not to mention they were all just rude and seemed pretty disinterested in doing anything aside from standing around. Dude had a pile of donations he’d only begun to pretend to sift through when I walked up. Take your donations and business elsewhere, housing works is garbage.

They always have sometjing you really don't
Need. But yer willin' to spend the money.Oct 23, 2025 -
The nastiest people I've ever dealt with and will never donate to HW again. The cashier told me I wasn't "giving her anything " so that was supposed to explain the rudeness and lack of help as I was donating thousands of dollars of clothing.
Oct 07, 2025 -
The prices are ABSURDLY expensive. Because of the fact that it’s located on the UES, they can get away with these prices. I’ve found new items at other stores for less. It’s insane.
Sep 21, 2025 -
Has anyone else noticed how rude the employees are here? I stop by the store probably twice per week and I’ve never had a good experience with the workers. It’s a shame.
Sep 19, 2025 -
Buyer beware. Was charged a 20% tip without my consent and not offered a receipt. The only reason I noticed is because I glanced at the screen; I did not get the chance to approve the transaction amount on the screen, the employee pressed "submit" on his end. When asked about it, he initially denied that it was my transaction. Finally he processed the refund, but refused to email or print a receipt, and got increasingly defensive and irritated. There was a long line behind me and it seemed like he hoped I'd be embarrassed and go away. I had to return to the store and find a manager (who was very helpful) to get my receipt, on principle. I don't have faith that this was or will be a one time issue.

It’s a good thrift store. Everything is always very organized which makes the work of finding gems more easy.

Out of all the Housing works we've been to, this one is the most mediocre. The Mens section was just a tiny wall with overpriced clothes. Women's were not that much better.

(Review pertains only to donation desk in back of store). I made a large donation only to be met with annoyance and a nasty attitude by one person in particular. I was told that I should have notified them in advance. This was after I had mentioned a large donation in person on 3 separate occasions when I was in the store and only being told that weekdays were better and nothing about advance notice. It is absurd that I was actually apologizing for making a donation (with many high quality unworn items) after hiring movers to transport the donation. I am now sorry that I did not donate the items to a more worthy location.

selection is definitely hit and miss like any consignment store. you can find some awesome designer items for great prices if you're patient and sift through everything/come back periodically. for example, i got an 100% cashmere brooks brothers peacoat in near perfect condition for $125 but have also walked out of here empty-handed many times. don't expect thrift store prices, but items are generally in better condition than other thrift stores in the neighborhood

Lovely thrift store the staff at the front desk on Thursday morning was great!
I do think items are pricey but I am sure there is a market for those items and there are also some more affordable items.
I especially loved their bags and furniture collections.Dec 30, 2023 -
Not very considerate sales attendant and manager. I bought 4 jackets and found out that the sizes were too long for me. I asked the manager if I could exchange even just one so I could use it the following day because it’s my birthday and I have a dinner date with friends. I know it is their policy for no returns, but hey, I’m just ecxchanging it with a smaller size. I just need it badly for the following day. I was declined.
I’ve been buying merchandise from their stores at 77 st.(closed) and 23rd st and now at 90th st because I’m close by.
I even was able to return/cancel a sofa my wife bought because it wouldn’t fit in our apartment, at this same store, but can’t do it with a very small thing.
You rely on customers in order for your business to thrive. But it seems they don’t care about their customers. I wouldn’t be surprised if their store would close up also, with the attitude of the people they have in their store right now.Dec 18, 2023 -
They had a nice selection of clothes. Their prices were a little high for a thrift shop but better quality than others. They had some really pretty formal dresses and I would definitely go there again if I needed a dress.
Aug 13, 2023 -
Not what I expected, it's definitely a thrift store with regular retail pricing. Don't believe I'll go back maybe I'll try another location with also better customer service. All employees were kinda group together talking.

Rick Owens, Diane von Furstenberg, Ted Lapidus, Brunello Cucinelli - just a small listing of brands you can find there. Some pieces are collectable
Oct 11, 2022 -
I had some time to kill before dinner and popped into the shop to browse. There were amazing deals on brand new swimsuits (got a 2 piece bikini for $5!), a really cute french connection dress, and the best purchase: a pair of plain black skinny jeans that fit perfectly for $15. It's a small shop but the selection is quite decent and the merchandise is in excellent condition, if not new. Super friendly staff and happy the purchases go to a good cause. Great random find in UES!

This is a great place to drop off your used items. I always come here and donate as much as I can. The money goes to an amazing cause. Donate here, and shop here!

Got a really cool Off White flannel from here. Along with that anytime I have gone in they have a variety of high end designer items and they are always in very good condition. If you are someone like me and love name brand clothing but do not always have the money to spend it, definitely check out this housing works thrift shop on the upper east side to see what they have that is somewhat used but not too badly.

Sometimes you can find some really great quality furniture and housing decor here for good prices. The clothing seems to be geared towards older people. I found these Ikea bar stools for $30 each.
Oct 12, 2020 -
You never know what goodies you'll find here as new items arrive each day. Tuesdays are senior discount days.
The staff is friendly and helpful.Apr 16, 2019 -
High quality items, but prices too expensive for a thrift store. Would rather go to a good will or another store where I could find the same items at 75% cheaper.
Sep 01, 2018 -
An amazing thrift store. Noticed it in passing and went by the next day. Great selection of fine, great condition items. Helpful staff and well organized. Prices reflect quality of items. Not a cheap thrifting spot, but you’ll find good deals.
Dec 05, 2017 -
There is a lot of stuff here. Most clothes are from more expensive brands than other thrift stores in the area. The downside is that this usually leads to higher prices than other thrift stores. That being said, there are tons of steals to be had here. Also, housing works has some of the best furniture!
Also, I appreciate their mission.Oct 05, 2016 -
Worth a visit. Lots of great stuff in a small space with great prices. Stop by their front window if only to see the internet auction items.
Mar 07, 2016 -
There is not much in this store but what they have is pretty good. There was a nice Asian-style cabinet for $90 and some good clothing items. They are not exactly cheap but they're reasonable enough. I collect brown transferware and I got three small plates for $2 each. They aren't the best but at that price I can't complain. I don't know that I'd bother visiting unless I was in the vicinity, but if you are it's worth a look. Very clean too.
May 23, 2015 -
Very good selection- worth a visit if you have time to go through hundreds of Hangers! Happy with my purchases. Only minus is the staff - they weren't helpful at all ...
