I must admit that the cat food, BFF at Petco is less expensive than PetSmart. Besides that, I want to shout out Lillian who went above and beyond at checkout. Lillian asked if i wanted to redeem the $5.00 off my purchase, however I didn't have the mobile app to do so. Not only did Lillian make a phone call to redeem the $5.00 off my purchase, she even inquired about another reward discount that had just expired on February 28th. Overall, I saved $7.00 at checkout! Thank you Lilian!!

My Havanese loves going to Petco. I bought him many cans of Taste Of The Wild, a Kong bear, snacks for him and snacks for my 2 cats. The staff is always great, the store is impeccably clean and well organized. I do wish you would sell Diamond weight management kibble in the store.

Customer service was on point. But they were out of stock for what I was looking for. I ended up getting something similar in a smaller size and I think I will have to return it, but it was worth a try and we had a great experience in the store.

This Petco is the most beautiful pet store I have ever been to. Staff were also tremendously friendly. Highly, highly recommend stopping by just to fawn over all the cute dog accessories!

Annette was absolutely amazing! She helped us find everything we needed for our new puppy and made sure we got the best possible prices. She was a pro at navigating the rewards and points system to save us money. Highly recommend her!

READ BEFORE YOU VISIT❗️ I had a grooming appointment scheduled for 8:45 AM at the Union Square location on February 6. I arrived on time, as I had class at 9:10 AM and carefully planned my morning to drop off my dog before heading to school. When I arrived, I was told that the stylist I booked was not working that day. I do not understand how the system allowed an appointment to be confirmed with someone who was not scheduled to work. If this was a system error, I should have been notified in advance by text, email, or phone. At the very least, I should have been reassigned to another stylist. Instead, the manager told me to take my dog home and reschedule. The tone was dismissive and rude, with no genuine apology or sense of responsibility. Another customer who had booked at the same time experienced the exact same issue, which clearly shows this was not an isolated mistake. This reflects poor management and lack of preparation. When the other customer asked what Petco could do to address the inconvenience, that initiative should have come from management first. A sincere apology and proactive solution would have made a difference. A 10% discount was only offered after we asked. I explained that I had class and had arranged my schedule around this appointment, but was told there was nothing they could do. After reading other reviews, I noticed many similar complaints. It does not appear that these concerns are being addressed seriously. It gives the impression that once customers pay and leave, the relationship ends there rather than being treated as valued clients whose time and trust matter. The manager’s rude and indifferent attitude made the entire experience worse. If you are still going to visit, make sure you call just before the appointment to confirm. Because they are not working so you should work on those things to avoid time wasting. Unfortunately, I will not be returning.

Nice design, but very poor customer service. I had a frustrating experience here that really highlights how rigid and unfriendly their customer service policies can be. I applied a promo code for discounted pet food and was supposed to pick it up, but I didn’t realize there was a three-day pickup limit. When I came back on the fourth day, I fully understood that the original promo had expired — that part is my responsibility. However, what made this a bad customer service experience was how inflexible and unhelpful the staff were. Even after I showed proof of the original purchase and simply wanted to repurchase the same item using a valid promo, they refused to apply any discount at the counter. Instead, they made me step aside, create a brand-new account online, and try to apply another promo code myself — all just to avoid honoring a basic 20% discount. This kind of rigid corporate policy, lack of discretion, and unwillingness to help a paying customer is exactly why people complain about poor customer support and unhelpful retail staff. There was no effort to resolve the situation reasonably — just strict rules and zero flexibility. The experience made it very clear that customer relationships are not a priority here. My loyalty, if any, will be based purely on price. If they have the best deal, I’ll shop here. If not, I won’t. Their approach shows they are not interested in long-term customer loyalty — only transactional promo-based sales. So it is what it is. At least now I understand what to expect: nice store, but terrible customer service and inflexible policies. Helpful to know going forward so I can calibrate my expectations. In anticipation of their generic response, I won’t need to reach out to their customer service hotline. I ended up paying full price as the 20% savings wasn’t worth the emotional burden and frustration.

Had the worst experience with this location today. My partner brought my dog in for his appointment that was for 10:30. The groomer asked if this experience was my puppy's first time and we confirmed that it was. He was brought to the back with no communication whatsoever about when the cut would begin and when he would be ready. They brought my dog back to the front at 12:30 to begin the cut. The groomer Melani cut his face, his paws, his nails. His entire body was left untouched and his face and paws are completely choppy and uneven. She then proceeded to charge us $110 for the services. When I called to express my concerns about the service, she said that it was discounted from $150 and that we need to train our dog. First of all, it's a dog's first cut- did you expect that he would sit there and not move an inch? He's not barking or biting so a little patience goes a long way. Secondly, $150 was never the issue. The issue is having no patience to finish the cut and leaving my dog to look insane and still charging us $110 and making it seem like it's a favor to us. Horrendous customer service. Do not bring your dog here for grooming services. UPDATE: as the response to my prior review, i definitely called the store multiple times. I spoke to the manager of the grooming section jeanette, and she seemed to want to rectify the situation. It seemed like we were in agreement that I would bring my puppy back to finish his cut, and that she would call me back to confirm my appointment. She never called me back. I've called multiple times since and left messages and have gotten no response. This is the worst customer experience, do not bring your pets here.

Well so far I've had two visits to this petco let me say the only positive I saw so far one the place looks beautiful. I went here because I had previously bought a corn snake from another location that's located in Manhattan as well a lady convinced me to buy a tank and corn snake by braking the box and discounting the tank by over 100 dollars as well as the snake was already on discount so we saved a lot but wasn't told that the tank actually isn't recommended for snakes because snakes actually break out easily witch is what happened witch we wasn't blaming this location at all. We was just inquiring about the sale witch we didn't know didn't carry over to all stores from there words we going in we ask about the sale the have to call like 5 different people just to find out if the snake is on sale finally they hit us with no it isn't after me and my wife talk it over again we decided we will buy the snake we say we want this one the guy struggles to get the snake in a small bucket is more like they where scared to handle the snake so I say just put it in the bag then they have to call more managers as a few more faces came up the next one more confused then the other no one can understand why it was ringing up then the only person really trying who dealt with the fishes keep scanning different barcodes until the only one that worked was the one that showed the sale this process took us over 10 mins even to ask about when the snake ate it felt like you were bothering them we just wanted someone who cared to really give us information about pet that was being purchased for a second time please train your employees better to be knowledgeable about the pets they are selling at Petco.

I’m writing to express my deep disappointment following my first visit to this particular PetCo/VetCo location, where I encountered highly unacceptable and unsatisfactory customer service from both the VetCo department and the Petco store staff. I came in specifically for one vaccine for my dog. However, the male associate at VetCo repeatedly pressured me to purchase additional vaccines I neither needed nor requested. When I stood firm on only receiving the vaccine I originally came for, his demeanor changed drastically. He became dismissive and unprofessional, abruptly stating he was “done servicing me” — despite the fact that I was actively asking clarifying questions at the time — and walked away to assist another customer without warning. Seeking to escalate my concern, I approached the Petco service desk to request a manager. Instead of offering meaningful assistance, I was simply handed a generic 1-800 number, which felt dismissive and unhelpful. This experience left me completely disheartened and distrusting of this PetCo/VetCo location services. I ultimately chose not to proceed with any vaccinations at this particular location, as I no longer felt confident that my dog would be treated with proper care. As a customer who hoped for a respectful and informative experience, I found this visit deeply troubling. I hope this feedback forewarns prospective customers in need of service.

Had a great experience with Petco Grooming. There was a small accident during my dog’s grooming, and the staff told me right away, waived the full grooming fee, and even took my dog to the emergency vet and covered all the costs. The manager stayed with us the whole time and was super caring and responsible. Their attitude really showed that they genuinely care about and love the pets they work with. Stuff happens, but how they handled it truly earned my trust. Would definitely come back.

Annette - who has been a longtime employee at Petco - is the BEST! She helped me pick out food, toys, & treats, and get an engraved name tag for my new dog Stella. As an overwhelmed first time pet parent, this was so incredibly helpful. I really appreciated her patience, knowledge, and expertise. Also this store location is massive (2 floors) and beautifully designed.

I usually come to this Petco once a week for my animals food and have always found it to be clean and friendly until tonight when I had Kimiko as my cashier the worst I’ve ever had I never even thought that was possible at a Petco. She was super rude when I asked for a receipt and then refused to give me a bag. She said I didn’t ask for one and I would have to pay again, I explained to her that I needed a bag because I bought multiple items and it was a snow storm outside so it wasn’t even reasonable to not offer me one. I didn’t have any cash on me and she wouldn’t give me one she just kept telling me I have to pay even tho it was a see through plastic thin bag that was probably going to break anyway she said they ran out of the paper ones and I needed to pay for this one like it was some type of special bag? This is all while laughing at me the whole time. Very sad experience now I will have to walk far to another pet store with more friendly staff as I wouldn’t trust that person with my animals after how she treated me.

Very upsetting experience. The groomer, Melissa, was unfriendly from the start. There was no communication during a 3+ hour wait, and I was later told grooming “always takes 4 hours,” which was never disclosed. My dog came back visibly stressed and unhappy. She never even finished his legs and feet! I would not have agreed to this service if I had known four hours wait!. I do not recommend this groomer.

I literally FaceTime my mom when I walked in because it is such a organized and good looking store. i’ve been to many pet stores and Petco in my life and this one fully stands out. The employees are very helpful and there is just literally everything you could need for your pet there. whoever manages or runs, the store should be proud of themselves!!!!

Excellent store for cats, dogs and all kinds of other pets. Highly recommend for animal lovers. Cute cats for adoption as well. Store is clean with many merchandise and food for pets, as well as veterinarians on site.

This pet store is very popular. Besides being able to see various species of aquatic, terrestrial, and flying animals, you can also buy supplements, food, and snacks, as well as prepared and cooked food for dogs. They also offer veterinary services. The facilities are pleasant.

Not gonna leave a bad review, but just want to let people know and Petco that this winter jacket for dogs from Maxbone is such a poor quality, not even three weeks in and the bottons are falling apart and at a $67 price you expect a bit better than this.

The Union Square headquarters is the bomb! They have so much to choose from for both cats and dogs and other animals. I wanted a cat bed and a scratching post and had so many options to chose from, great quality and I love seeing the beautiful rescue cats(if you need a cat go there)as we checkout and as I leave the store I get to watch the groomers groom the dogs while the guardians look on through the full open glass floor to ceiling windows. They also have great toys and halloween costumes. Oh plus, Vetco, which is their onsite veterinarians, what more can a pet store have, they are awesome! It's like a pet boutique at that location, nothing like it around.

I absolutely love Karlyn! She took care of my dog and gave her the best cut/wash she’s gotten. It’s been a minute since my dog had been groomed due to her cancer diagnosis and surgery, so I was actually anxious about this whole experience. Katlyn was extremely kind, made both of us feel so relaxed, and she was so thorough and thoughtful during the whole session. I’m never going to another groomer again, can’t recommend her enough 🩷❤️ Also, I’ve noticed that all the dogs and groomers here seem so happy, so if you have an anxious doggo or even if you’re scared yourself, everyone here seems so gentle and warm!

Went to petco during a trip to find some cute outfits for my Fox terrier smooth. I had his measurements with me but no measuring tape, a very polite and intelligent employee help me out by measuring the clothes with a one dollar bill. He really went above and beyond to provide the best customer service ever.

I'm jealous, seriously. I don't think we, humans, have stores that look that cool. Beautiful store, spacious, clean, great layout, well stocked. I found some cat food that is hard to find in stores, only online. Sweet cats for adoption are on the first floor by the cashier. Definitely recommend just stopping by and seeing it for yourself.

The most luxurious pet store I've ever walked into! I thought they closed down the union square location but they just moved it across the street on the other side of Barnes and Noble...you guys they have a PHOTO BOOTH for you and your pet 🥹 I'm definitely going to get a photostrip of me and my rabbit soon! Same great prices but I'm telling you- you need to visit this location even the fish looked happy! 10/10 best pet store location in NYC

Very cool decorated store. Super friendly and professional staff. She gave us detailed information about the treats they carry and answered all questions we had. She also let my dog try their samples. My dog loved her so much and didn't want to leave the store.

I popped in mid afternoon on a Sunday. As I’d decided I’d like another moss ring for Atticus my Betta fish. I had the pleasure of speaking to a knowledge fish expert called ELIJAH. He had an elbow sling on but this did not hinder him in anyway; and got me the Cory Fish he advised could go well with my temperamental aquatic child! He was helping two other people and told me he’d be with me (to pay) after his colleagues bagged up my new catfish. He also relieved another member of staff and still managed to hold the fort in an organized and professional manner. It’s a beautiful store with high ceilings and a second floor. But it gives me anxiety when busy. I prefer this store for the variety and I always check the Betta fish as they’re re stocked regularly. 2 elevators. You can see dogs being groomed which is another bonus as I’m a dog lover. There’s also a dog cafe/ bar for healthier food. Clearly priced labels. Worth a pop on but be prepared to leave with something! I almost bought a cuddly toy - for myself!

The new Petco Union Square location is unlike any other pet shop. The grand shop design is spectacular with a variety of pet merchandise, food, and services offered. We loved seeing familiar and new brands featured and the individual creative section displays for all the small businesses and Reddy lifestyle area. We enjoyed selecting treats from the pick and choose biscuit cookie trolley bar for dogs upstairs, trying samples at JustFoodForDogs, and our pup having her chilled whipped cream! The staff were relaxed, friendly, and helpful. Our pup especially enjoyed meeting them throughout the store. Our first visit to the shop was excellent and we are excited to be able to stop at this location every time we are in the Union Square area!
