What clients say about Seattle Goodwill in Seattle Hill (WA)
-
I am so disappointed in the Seattle Goodwill on Lane street. Over the last few years they have refused to offer basic human dignity to the folks who shop there. The bathrooms have been "under renovation" for over two years. Every time I ask about them, this what I am told. I have witnessed people beg to use the bathroom, some elderly or with small children. They are always refused. I was there on March 4th, 2026 and some poor person, ended up having to defecate on the floor because there was no bathroom for them to use. At this location, there are no stores or other places close by, where someone can go to use the bathroom. What a horrible way to treat human beings. Goodwill you should do better than this!

I got charge for extra stuff. I was in a hurry because I needed to used the bathroom and they have no bathroom. They charge me not for one extra item . For freaking 3!!!!!! Cashier name is Claude This makes me very upset I even donated $5

Meseret and Kathryn, deserve a raise; for their time, and patience, with understanding me. Groovy blessings to all of you; and to all of your households'.

This place is huge. They can have some good prices but they also price things more than their original sticker price - which is incredibly insulting to see the GW price MORE than the OG price. But like I said, lots of good prices if you’re willing to spend the time going through all the racks. Gotten a fair amount of clothing pieces that were under $5.

This is one of the best goodwills around, they definitely have better prices thats for sure. A lot of goodwills and value villages over price their donations! Which is why i take my donations to St Vincent de Paul.

This was the biggest Goodwill I have ever been inside. It was HUGE! And has so many different things to shop for/look at. Loved it & had a lot of fun shopping here.

Amazing selection and friendly staff. Good luck getting a cart. We walked away very pleased with our purchase.

It's actually really funny because everyone is saying the same thing and every response from the Goodwill is "We are looking into this and trying to make the experience better for our shoppers" when in reality, you aren't doing anything to fix any of this. The bathrooms have been shut down for about a year... They've even blocked them with larger furniture pieces so no one can see them, not even letting children use them. The prices are getting way worse. The cashier has argued with me on multiple occasions...one item from the dollar tree literally said $1.25 on the package and she tried to price it at $5.99 when I reminded her IT LITERALLY had the $1.25 all she said was "So you don't want it?" And another time there was a set of dishes that had a tag of $9.99 and she said it wasn't right and was actually $35. For a set of used dishes. I asked for a manager who didn't give them to me at the $9.99 that they were, so asking to speak to a manager gets you nowhere..stop suggesting it. Honestly Goodwill if I were you and wanted to keep your customers I would consider a change in management and policies. You put door codes on the bathroom for a reason. Just don't give them to anyone. Or have a bathroom attendant, but your store is too big for people to shop in without having a bathroom. If your prices weren't so high maybe more people would shop and you would actually make more money for the supposed "job training" that I have literally never seen at any of your stores and I have been to most of them in Washington state. When I see people in Facebook groups in other state talk about getting something at the Goodwill for ACTUAL thrift store prices it makes me embarrassed for the prices in your store.

Always had a great experience donating. The staff are super friendly. I don't think people should complain about prices in general at a thrift store. Some of the goods are like new and it's a lot of work for staff to sort and organize, clean all the goods and maintain a store with heavy traffic. Seems like it would be harder than working at a "regular" retail store, honestly.. and it's a great service and with some thrift stores like Goodwill the money goes to a good cause, helping people. It's a great cause and to complain about pricing is so petty in my opinion. It's a donation versus throwing money into the big box stores where the mark up goes to corporate.

Doesn't have a public bathrooms. There are so many people (on a saturday) probably for good reason. We came in to find bathrooms, no luck. Couldn't stay, wish I could.

Instead of selling donated items to the local population, they sell it on ebay. $31 shipping cost for a cup? Greedy corporation with overpaid CEOs. You deserve to lose your non profit status.

I see all of these pics that are all nice and neat and tidy.... Hahaha, what a joke. Maybe on a Tuesday morning at like 8am before they open!!! I am actually on my way there right now. I'll video and take pics and upload. B

Nice selection but overpriced funny seeing dollar tree items for more than the original price. The security likes to accuse everyone of stealing no matter who you are. I have seen them get physical with ppl that they thought were stealing.
Jan 11, 2026 -
Overflowing with items to the point where it's hard to shop. Prices are absurdly high. Lower prices would help move items faster, making the space more navigable. Staff are nice. Parking lot has unsigned one-way lanes, which creates some chaos and should really be signed.

No ethics on all goodwill cashiers and paying at the registers! I filed BBB and Attorney General Only item price and tax shown on the screen, no total and cashier won't tell you the total but instead they ask you to round up. They need to stop asking for round up and put a donation box back up next to the register of ppl want to donate they will put it in the box. Goodwill be job training cahiers to get every penny they can out of everyone in line waiting to pay their wages and the CEO's millions a year for salery. Google AI response Forcing cashiers to meet donation quotas for customer "round-ups" is widely considered unethical, potentially illegal, and damaging to business, as it creates undue pressure on both employees and customers, violates principles of voluntary giving, and raises transparency issues about where funds go. While asking customers to round up is generally legal, mandatory quotas for staff turn a voluntary act into a stressful performance metric, potentially leading to customer resentment, employee burnout, and legal issues if charities aren't transparent or funds aren't handled properly.

So many overpriced items. Multiple times I’ve showed management items that were priced higher than their original sale tag (tag was still attached). They argue with you about it and even flat out say no to offering a reasonable price. In my experience, if they do offer below the original sale tag, it’s maybe 25-50 cents less... The rest of the staff is kind and efficient, it’s a large store, and there are some good deals. Ultimately, management needs retraining and appropriate guidelines over pricing.

I heard that they had their retraining for jobs program closed and they were not even doing that. The prices are outrageous! I was able to buy some items there cheaper brand new! It’s so sad, this used to be such a great store. Now it’s just expensive and full of sketchy people

They have a great selection of good items. The glass items weren't all broken and chipped, usually they are. As usual, the was extremely loud. Both by the employees and the customers. I mean really really loud. Way too much glass breakage by employees. It was startling. Still no bathrooms, even for elderly customers. And once I leave a store to use the bathroom in another location, I'm not likely to return to the original store.

I cannot stress enough how bad this Goodwill location is. My shopping experience there was one I will never forget because I have never been so insulted as when the cashier and manager took some of the things I had in my cart and wouldnt let me buy them. They falsely accused me of tampering with the prices. I didnt understand why I couldnt buy the things I shopped for and told them Im autistic. The manager explained to me how some people switch price tags and showed me one tag that had a slight tear. While explaining it, the manager said it was obvious to see; to which I replied that is wasnt so obvious since he had to explain it and point it out to me. I felt insulted and discrimnated against. I stayed calm yet was clearly puzzled during the interaction. They just told me what they were doing was store policy. I told them they need to post their policies by the entrance so shoppers know that they might be falsely accused during their shopping experience.

Out of all the Goodwill stores in Seattle, this store is, having been to multiple Seattle locations, by far the best Goodwill store in the area! I highly recommend this location over all others because the selection, the security, and the staff! All A+ in my many visit to the store on Dearborn Ave in downtown Seattle.

THE MOST RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED THRIFT STORE IVE EVER BEEN TO. Came in to look at Halloween decorations and nearly laughed at how ridiculous their pricing system is. They were selling Michaels Halloween decor at nearly full price; even their plastic, dollar store hand sized items were $7-10, a good portion of the items weren't even priced. This location is out of their mind!!!

Do you LOVE the chance of getting verbally or physically assaulted by employees while shopping? Then is the place for you! Or an even greater possibility of being accused of theft, switching price tags or employees deciding that already priced items were priced too low when you get to the register and instead charging you a much higher price for used items??? Then this is DEFINITELY the place for you! 100% you will be treated like a potential criminal as soon as you walk through the doors. But… they do have a large selection of great used items.

Street taco’s fresh and an amazing value. A heaping plate for 12.00. Had the steak, fresh cilantro, onions, lime and the flavorful avacado creamy sauce. This is on the street, just in front of the largest Goodwill in the world. They are open at least later the most.highly recommend!

This is for the Dearborn location. This location has a drop-off as well. The parking lot is big, but as the sign says don't leave belongings in the car. You will see shattered glass on the street from the regular break-ins. When you walk in, it's the size of a large gym, actually 2-large gyms because the area from the entrance is clothing and there a second area for household items, furniture, toys, sports and entertainment. This place moves at a quick pace, and isles are littered with things dropped on the ground with no one picking things up. Pack your patience, the isles are tight, people are close and there are many looking for the "right find." There are treasures to be found here but I didn't see a deep discount verses getting it brand new from Amazon but if you're looking for vintage, this is your spot. I was able to find a brand-new pair of Cons for $25 and a new fleece hat for $8. Midas 5-stars for the quick lines at the register. There were 8-registers open to get people checked-out and moving. Midas 3-stars for the tight isles and selection. Midas 4-stars overall.

In my opinion, it is one of the largest Goodwill stores I’ve never been to one. You can get a good bargain for everything from clothes, shoes, kitchen tools, and books to furniture. Sometimes, I find undervalued items, and if I find them outside, their value is 3x-4x compared to Goodwill’s. They also have a generous and comfortable return policy in which you can return when seven days after purchase. The only complaint is the small drive-through donation which took me 30 mins to donate when it gets crowded. Please do something, Goodwill. Maybe you can open more lanes and extend the donation hours. Overall, I would love to be back to get some cheap items

This is one of the largest Goodwill stores I’ve ever been in and I was surprised how clean and tidy it was. There’s a huge selection of clothes and shoes for everyone, I noticed there are retail items as well as furniture and sports equipment. Unfortunately I didn’t find what I was looking for but this place is definitely worth checking out!
